We loved this place! Parking is on the street, which can be a bit of a challenge. However, it's not too far from the light rail if you want to venture into South End. The restaurant is in an old church, and it was beautiful. You really feel like you're stepping into a different place with the buzz of the restaurant. Our waitress was very nice, and she gave us a very thorough rundown of the menu. Honestly there were so many great options on there! They serve family style, so realistically it's best to get a couple items to share, and we had plenty of leftovers. I also liked that they had a breakdown of recommended items and modifications for some of the more common dietary restrictions (gluten sensitive, dairy, vegan, etc). The food was delicious! We ordered the jerk duck, domino potato, sautéed veggies and tomato and rhubarb pie. Drinks were great too! This place is definitely what I would call a special occasion spot. It's definitely pricier than some of the other restaurants in town, though the ambiance and vibe match the elevation. Our server Myrna was outstanding--friendly, attentive and offered great food recommendations. Started off with Hawaiian Rolls, Yuzu Yellowtail Crudo, and the Bone Marrow & Shrimp. The bone marrow & shrimp was so flavorful, one of my favorite dishes. Highly recommend the 16oz. Wagyu Picanha--meat was tender and cooked perfectly. The Jerk Duck was good too, however, a bit dry--may have been better if accompanied with a sauce. Creamed Onion and Confit Domino Potato were great sides too! Tried the Frozen Pina Colada--was not a fan of this, tasted extremely sour and texture was too thick (had dragonfruit and mezcal swirl in it), but was able to exchange it for a different cocktail. Service that's 100% welcoming and attentive from the first steps in the door, it's easy to fall in love by this place. Next time I might just eat off the starter list as there are so many pleasurable treats. You'll call your mama and shame her for ever baking frozen fish sticks after treating LH's version. The mini tacos are fun and full and flavorful. The yellowtail crudo almost had ME having a "I'll have what she's having" moment. The sugar steaks are delightful, and the 10oz filet well prepared (we didn't add any accoutrements) and cutable with a fork. Th halibut was the special fish and was, indeed, special. Buttery for sure, but the vegetables and tomato sauce in which it came (just enough wisps without overwhelming) lifted it to a new level. Then, the desserts. Yowza! The cheesecake and the fudge cake. Grabbed an early dinner with friends on a Saturday. Parking was easy, as I found a spot on the street right in front of the building. Our table was ready upon arrival. The first thing I noticed is that the building is beautiful. A former church, it's clear that the owners went to great lengths to achieve the aesthetic here. Service was great from beginning to end. 5/5. Unfortunately the food was so so. Perhaps I should've gotten a steak, but nothing that I tasted was great. I had the sea bass wrapped in sweet potato. We were told that it was a large portion, appropriate for sharing. the portion size was not larger than normal and definitely not big enough for sharing, but sufficient for a single serving. The sea bass was bland. A little salt and pepper or maybe a little lemon squeeze could've gone a long way. The scallops were tasty and the sauce the scallops were in -beurre blanc - was the highlight of the meal. Don't fall for the crispy rice. I'm not sure whether it's undercooked or overcooked rice, but it's just hard rice with a little paprika that's hard to eat. Maybe they left the rice on too long and rather than throwing it away, they called it crispy rice. You can't complain about it being hard because it's called CRISPY RICE. But I was expecting something..... better. Brussels sprouts were fine. Friends ordered Stracciatella. I didn't like it, but that was my first time and I don't think it was cooked wrong. I think I just don't like stracciatella. My friends enjoyed it. Tamales were a daily special and solid. Desert was fine. I will return and try something different. We enjoyed our first visit to Leluia Hall! We're big Supperland, Ever Andalo, etc. fans, so we were excited to come in on our anniversary to celebrate. The positives: - The space is absolutely gorgeous - you can tell how much love they put into restoring this old Charlotte gem - The drinks were excellent - fun that they have a bit of a tiki vibe with those! - The food was also excellent. We shared the bone marrow with shrimp and homemade purple masa tortillas (incredibly flavorful and unique), the picanha sugar-rubbed steak (beautifully seasoned and cooked), the potatoes (definitely crispier than we expected but good) and the creamed onions (the star of the show in my book - the sauce they came in was addictive, and the onions were beautiful). - Dessert was stellar - one of the best basque-style cheesecakes I've ever tasted! The critiques; - Our waiter was not very friendly. The hosts downstairs were wonderful and made us feel very welcome (they even let us explore the wine cellar downstairs!), but it felt our waiter was having a bad night or something - he barely engaged with us and wasn't super attentive. - The air conditioning seemed to stop halfway through our meal, which wouldn't have been as noticeable if we had been downstairs, but it got pretty warm up in the mezzanine (granted, we did come on one of the hottest days of the year, but we didn't expect to be warm indoors). - The mezzanine in general - it was a cool space, but the vibe and excitement seemed to be on the main level. All in all, we would definitely come back and give Leluia Hall another shot (I really want to try one of the seafood entrees!). The place itself is quite grand. Really nice bar, great old school detail, nice space and design . They have a nice private space on the basement you can rent for private parties. The welcome lobby area is really nice. I loved the seating. We got seated straight away, unfortunately close to the door and it was cold so we kept getting blasts of cold air every time the door opened. This was my only negative. The food and drinks were awesome. They have a nice menu. Lots of unique dishes and some classics. We had a bottle of the Blanc de Blancs. Super bubbly and effervescent. They come round with a water enhancing plate, which is nice, fresh fruits to pick from to flavor your water. We ordered a few different dishes for the table starting with the tiny tacos! 2 per serving, yes tiny but loaded. We tried the lobster, wagyu ribeye tartare and fried avocado . All were awesome, the wagyu being my favorite. The truffle aioli and Serrano in this made it so decadent. The house made masa shells I loved too. Could have eaten more of these! Then we tried the yuzu yellowtail crudo. Delicious. So fresh, great flavors. The fish sticks is a must get and my favorite dish. Cod, lobster and shrimp mousse wrapped in panko served with house made tartar. Not your average fish stick! Not oily at all but light and airy inside. The stracciatella was ok, really well presented but a little bland. I liked the cornmeal flatbread. The cheese itself was very watery the chili oil was good. Crab Louie board was something different. Deconstructed crab salad essentially. Veggies serviced with fresh crab and their own dressings, liked the radish and asparagus. The half moon potato cakes were ok. A little disappointing as they were oily and very flat. Not a redo. The horchata coffee cake was yummy and it disappeared quickly ! The latte and coffee was great too and I loved the cups they come in! Very classy dishes and silverware. Really nice place and we enjoyed our brunch. Couple of the dishes I would not get again but overall everything was great. We were just cold the whole time as well. So try and get seating not by the door! Like Supperland, Leluia Hall is housed in a beautifully restored church, and while some of the original décor has been preserved, the updates breathe new life into the space, giving it a fresh and vibrant feel. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. We were promptly seated upon entering the charming lobby area (with a reservation), setting a positive tone for the evening. A nice touch was being offered still or sparkling water, with an optional infusion of lime, cucumber, or mint--a small but memorable detail that elevated the experience. To drink, we ordered a glass of Chardonnay and the Chicha Morada. The Chicha was a non-alcoholic option and absolutely delicious--refreshing and flavorful. Our meal included: Chilean Sea Bass - Expertly cooked and wrapped in sweet potato, this dish was a standout. The chimichurri added a bright, herbaceous note that balanced the sweetness beautifully. Jerk Duck - Incredibly tender and packed with flavor. The portion was generous, and the accompaniments--pickled vegetables, jalapeño, a creamy sauce, and a crisp salad--added layers of texture and taste. Potato & Poe - A savory potato pancake topped with salmon roe. While it was enjoyable, I was hoping to try the other potato option, which was unfortunately sold out. They did it again! The same owners of Supplerland blessed CLT with a seafood restaurant. Bless up. The location itself is on the fringe of South End and Dilworth, so easily accessible with great parking. The inside of the restaurant was so crisp with the interior decorating and with the location of the bar and oyster bar. The vodka oyster shooters were incredible, maybe that's why the table got 10 in total. The appetizers all hit with their own mouth watering flavor and cooked to perfection. My only criticism is the bone marrow portioning could have been more. The jerk Duck was so tender and juicy fillllllled with a perfectly balanced jerk flavoring that wasn't overly hot. My girlfriend and I heard about this new restaurant on Instagram and really wanted to try it out. They are booking pretty far in advance (likely since they are new) I booked reservations two weeks out so unless you don't mind sitting at the bar I would recommend planning ahead. There isn't a parking lot but lots of free parking around the building so give yourself some extra time to parallel park. Let's focus on the good first. The food was amazing but honestly the service was even better. Our server was super knowledgable about the menu, they bussed our table after each course and we felt well taken care of the entire time. The restaurant is in a renovated church and the interior design was stunning. The meal was also very tasty. My partner and I shared an appetizer, 1 protein, 1 side and a dessert. That was enough for two people. Now the bad, honestly there isn't a lot to say in this category but I would add that the garnishments were a bit over the top. Leluia Hall has been living rent-free in my head since it opened. I waited for the right moment, and when my parents planned their first-ever visit to Charlotte, I knew this would be the dinner to close out their trip. I booked nearly a month out. The only time available was 5 PM on a Tuesday, so yes, we were early-birding it while the dining room slowly filled up... and honestly? No complaints. We had the space to soak it all in. The restaurant is inside a beautifully restored 1915 church with massive windows, vaulted wood-beamed ceilings, vintage chandeliers, and a whole section of seating that looks like an HGTV dream sequence. It's elegant without being stuffy and feels like Southern charm meets secret society dinner club. The Tonidandel Brown team also runs Supperland, Haberdish, Growlers Pourhouse, and Ever Andalo. Chef Christian Medrano had been teasing me for months on Instagram with specials, test dishes, and plating so beautiful it felt personal. So the anticipation was real, and I'm happy to report: this was hands-down one of the best meals I've ever had in Charlotte. Maybe the best. Service was top notch. Julia, our server, was warm, funny, and had clearly tasted everything on the menu. She was basically our food Sherpa. And then there was the garnish tray. Yes, a tray of fresh fruit, mint, cucumber, and citrus slices brought tableside to flavor your water like we were checking into a boutique wellness resort. Totally unexpected and now completely necessary everywhere I go. We started with the tiny tacos: lobster and wagyu ribeye tartare. The lobster was dressed in brown butter aioli and lemon zest, tucked into an heirloom masa shell with a violet blossom perched on top like it was about to walk the red carpet. The wagyu tartare tacos were rich, velvety, and had just the right amount of serrano heat. Both were bite-sized mic drops. The saffron honey chicken was my favorite of the night. It's cooked confit then finished on the plancha for crispy skin that crackles like a sitcom laugh track. It's glazed in saffron honey beurre blanc, layered with chili crunch made from fermented black beans, and finished with lemon. Rich, juicy, and unforgettable. The Chilean sea bass came wrapped in a thin sheet of sweet potato, resting on a smooth avocado chimichurri with brown butter and lemon. It was so delicate I felt like I needed to lower my voice. The whole roasted branzino, a special that night, came with charred herbs, mint, house-blended sazon, black garlic, black lime, sherry vinegar, and smoked jalapeño oil. Absolute flavor bomb. We also had the creamed cipollini onions with shaved parm, espelette, and thyme, which had us spoon-fighting. Chef Alex surprised us with the Masa & Cheese which had masa dumplings, cotija cheese, sweet corn, and popped corn on top. Like if mac and cheese and a street festival had a baby. For dessert, we had the fudge cake. Julia poured warm fudge sauce tableside over a dense chocolate cake until it cascaded down like it was staging a takeover. It sat on chocolate milk crumble with toasted vanilla ice cream slowly melting into the mix. Rich, dramatic, and perfect. By the end, we were painfully full. My parents have been on a serious diet streak, and I'm 90% sure I broke it in one sitting. Worth it. We had to walk the South End Rail Trail just to function again. And even during that walk, everyone was still talking about the food, the experience, the sauces, the ambiance... all of it. Pro tip: parking is mostly street. I got lucky out front, but give yourself some time to circle. Leluia Hall is something special. The food is as thoughtful as the design. It's was a birthday celebration for one of my girlfriends so I was able to add another notch to the Jeff and Jamie belt this time at Leluia Hall. I will say it is a stunning restaurant and you can see some parallels with Supperland a bit. We had a rather large party and there was a mix on the table from the bunch menu with a 1:30 reservation. The food though left me a little wanting. I'm not a drinker so I can't say if the drinks were good but the glasses were empty. My breakfast plate didn't have any accompanying condiments so the corn cake was a bit dry but I luckily had my over medium eggs to help w that. The potatoes round was crispy and the bacon was fatty which some may enjoy. It isn't for me, never been a fan of the texture of fat. The conversations and just the fellowship made up for the dining experience so for that alone I would suggest giving them a try. The wait staff was very attentive as well. There are a few self pay parking lots around so be prepared to pay just as you do at Supperland unless you want to drive around waiting for someone to move for street parking. All in all I would suggest just to be able to take in this beautiful space and maybe an earlier reservation when they aren't closing. read more

Finally got to try this spot out on a Thursday evening for dinner. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and guided us through the menu. We started with the Hawaiian rolls. The coconut butter was a delicious pairing to the delicate rolls. Next, we had the lobster mini tacos and the tuna crudo. The lobster tacos are something to write home about! So small but packed full of flavor. The tuna crudo was equally delicious and light. For appetizers, I had the sea bass while my friends tried the steak and the special wagyu tamales. We all raved about our choices so I am sure you can't go wrong! Definitely fills up, so make a reservation or sit at the bar. We came in early on a weeknight and I still can't figure out why we were placed on the mezzanine level when the entire place was open and we are older ladies but climb up we did. We had a nice server who explained things well and we ordered the picadillo empanada ( a special) that tasted too much like taco meat to me and the yuzu yellowtail crudo that was ok. We shared the Prime NY Strip and the Chilean Sea Bass. The steak was perfect and the sea bass delicious but we did not care for the Masa and Cheese- it was just a heavy dumpling and not much in terms of taste. For dessert,we enjoyed the island cake- the guava cake with orange mousse and passion fruit buttercream had 12 layers and was excellent. I have to say I like Supperland better though. read more

One of the newest additions to Charlotte's fine dining scene, Leluia Hall serves up delicious entrees, fabulous cocktails and memorable desserts in a wonderful setting that evokes all the best qualities of an upscale Southern restaurant. Like it's sister restaurant, the incomparable Supperland, Leluia is housed in a converted historic church in Dilworth, and you can still imagine the sounds of a Methodist choir echoing though the airy, open dining room. The main level, with its magnificent cocktail bar dominating the space where the pulpit once stood, is a cacophony of sound and activity, but our table in the corner of the mezzanine felt delightfully secluded. The remarkable setting at Leluia is just a prelude to the fantastic food and outstanding service that we enjoyed on a recent visit. The Rum Old Fashioned that our waiter recommended was refreshing and delicious, and the Hawaiian Rolls we ordered for a starter were melt-in-your mouth amazing. We also enjoyed the very tasty Tiny Tacos (the Yellowtail Sashimi and Lobster are both great choices) before diving into our entrees. For dinner, my wife ordered a perfectly cooked 10-ounce Prime Filet with sides of Risotto and Confit Potato, while I tried the incredibly flavorful Jerk Duck, which I enjoyed but found a little too spicy. The very helpful sommelier recommended a delightful Spanish red to pair with the dishes, and we topped off our meal with slices of the wonderfully rich Creamy Cheesecake and the AMAZING Fudge Cake. I was extremely impressed with our entire experience at Leluia Hall and can't wait to go back for another visit. While the menu isn't quite as compelling as the one at Supperland, the steak was as good as any I've had in Charlotte and the cocktails alone are worth the trip. Highly recommended! read more

Food and drinks were very good. However, we were denied to sit outside on the patio as a party of 2, because the hostess said it would be overwhelming for the waiter servicing the outside tables. There was only one table occupied outside. Made us wait forever and then finally said we can only seat you inside. Mind you, this is 5:30 on a Wednesday. read more

The food was delicious! Very nice restaurant! And service was great! The steak literally melted in my mouth. The fried avocado taco bite was my best bite! The pancake was savory but with syrup really hit the nail on the head. read more

I knew it would be excellent--because what else would we expect from the masterminds behind such local faves as Supperland, Haberdish, & Ever Andalo--but Leluia Hall far exceeded my expectations on every front. From the inviting curbside appeal & lovely landscaping, to the downright GORGEOUS interior, epic service, and array of steak and surf options to appeal to a variety of palates, I believe that you will leave feeling a sense of joy, gratitude, & praise well aligned with the name of the establishment (Ha-Leluia! ). For my first visit, I had to try the fish sticks that I kept seeing on the Gram. With blackened cod and shrimp & lobster mousse, this elevated childhood classic did not disappoint. The Brussels Almondine--a nice detour from the balsamic & bacon variations that we more typically see--were also on point. Leluia Hall is a refreshing take on the traditional surf and turf concept. The flavors are coastal with a splash of southern charm. We snagged a last minute resy the day before my birthday when we realized they were officially open for business and they truly made my day! As a gluten free foodie, I was blown away by the number of options available. Perfect setting for a date night. The Apple a Day cocktail was so expertly crafted and made me look at Mezcal through a different lens. The ceviche was fresh and fun - the sweet potatoes were a welcome addition, despite my skepticism. Everything we tasted was well plated and flavorful though our entrees (jerk duck and honey saffron chicken) were a smidge on the salty side. But the best bite of the night was easily the Creamed Onions. Looking forward to returning for a sugar cured steak and some tiny tacos! read more

Completely upset with the way we were treated. My girlfriend and her husband had a party for her 50th birthday in the wine room downstairs which was small but nice. When my friend and I went down to put balloons up before everyone came the waitress was there, and she seemed to have attitude from that moment on. Now, I have to say the bartenders upstairs were great! However , our waitress acted like she didn't want to be there. For instance, when I asked which potato's were better she said, I don't know. Everything was beautiful for my friend's bday party and the food was good, I was already texting my son that he needed to try it. The dinner was over and we were waiting on them to bring candles to light the cake when the manager came and told my friend and her husband that they were kicking us out, that our server didn't feel comfortable and safe waiting on us any longer. Completely shocked, we were like what??? She accused my husband of something that was inappropriate which was untrue. She wasn't even downstairs when my husband popped a ballon and a guy that was in our party took a picture of him. It was a funny picture NOTHING inappropriate at all! We were all laughing at the picture and when Stevie came back downstairs our friend showed her the picture and she went and told manager. He came and told us we had to leave without even asking what happed or anything, just said we have to leave. My friend, her husband (which is attorney) and all of us were completely shocked by what was happening. I felt so sorry for her, she was in tears. We are all business professionals and some own our on businesses and would never act inappropriately. I know I would want to know if any of my employees were treating my customers like we were treated, very unprofessional. Will never return. It started out so nice and ended terribly for my friend. read more
