Went for a birthday and this spot was the perfect place for it. Unassuming from the outside you realize it's because their money goes towards their staff and the food. Our waitress was very attentive, informative, and nice. When I ordered the wrong level of steak, they were quick to take it back and cook it a bit longer for me, even though it was 100% my fault. That's the type of service I'd expect from a nice restaurant and it made the experience that much better. Let alone all their drinks which were top notch! Highly highly recommend

You truly can't go wrong with a visit to beef and bottle. This is one of the oldest steakhouses in Charlotte and they have been doing it since 1958. Catering to romantic hearts as well as business travelers, it can be hard to see inside the restaurant because they keep it dimly lit, but once you put the food in your mouth, you won't care what it looks like. It's so good. We always get a steak with crab meat on top and sides. Their sides are large enough to share so if you want to split who's getting what side and share you are definitely encouraged to do that. I would definitely suggest making a reservation as this place books out quick!! They have

Made a reservation for our anniversary and stated it was our anniversary on the reservation. We got caught in traffic and I called ahead to say we were running 5 minutes late, was that okay. She made a point on the phone to say "well there's a reservation at 7:10 behind you". We arrive and walk in the door at 6:05. The place is not packed on a Thursday night, plenty of seating and you know where they sat us for our anniversary? By the bathroom and the kitchen. The worst table in the restaurant. The waiter took 10 minutes after we're seated to ask us for drinks. There was only one water glass on the table and the waiter didn't bother to look at the reservation bc he asked "are we celebrating anything?" And just like the universes perfect timing they bussed a booth across from us and placed a "reserved" sign on the table. The food was mid at best. Only thing I would come back for is the cheese spread which I asked to buy and found they don't even make it in house. Brussels were over dressed and cold. My husbands potato wasn't hot enough to melt the cold butter they gave us. Sea bass portions were huge but had no flavor and needed a pan sauce not tarter sauce (gross). For the price and service, I'd rather buy some cheese wiz and saltines before giving this dark and inhospitable place another dime of my money. Also they didn't even acknowledge our anniversary. They don't even pack your leftovers. This "institution" is dead and IMO def leaning racist.

Choice Cut Ribeye (4/5): Decent steak but it was too fatty. The fat also didn't translate into the big, beefy flavor I was hoping for. Balsamic Glazed Brussel Sprouts (4/5): Slightly undercooked compared to most brussel sprout dishes I've had. I liked the texture but would've loved some more of the glaze. Fried Cheesy Potato (4/5): Great texture--crunchy outside and soft inside. Almost no flavor though... Couldn't even tell there was cheese in there. I ended up dunking these in ketchup. Onion Rings (4/5): These were fine. The onion was dry and the batter was lacking in crispiness but I just like onion rings. RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

We celebrated our four-year anniversary here. BEST. DECISION. EVER. They had us set up in the most romantic corner ever. I could finally see what the reviewers mean by "old-school steakhouse." Drinks: Old Fashioned + the best red Cab ever. We ended up buying a bottle. Eats: Creamed spinach 5/5, crab dip 5/5, ribeye 5/5... you see where this is going. Everything was fantastic. Surprisingly, the complimentary cheese and crackers were also a huge hit. The waitress packed us more to go lol. Can't wait to come again!

Beef N Bottle is a Charlotte staple. I love everything about this place. It's Charlotte's oldest steakhouse and still brings it every night. The bar is small, but full of character. The star is the shrimp cocktail for me. It is the BEST, hottest most flavorful cocktail sauce in the city. Their steaks are also phenomenal! Still cooked in an old fashioned way that leave it full of flavor! Their desserts are also incredible too. One note, service is amazing, but on Sunday there is no bartender so the servers make the drinks.

Great vintage restaurant which is totally my vibe! If you want to know what it was like to have a steak dinner in 1958 this is the place to do it! Prices were great for 2026 too.

Arrived late into town one night decided on this place. No tables available so we sat at the bar in the back of the restaurant. Great service ! Great Steak. Tries the frog legs too. Very old school steak house vibes.

Thank you Yelpers for the recommendation. Went to Beef 'N Bottle for the first time and absolutely loved it. The place is absolutely charming. I believe the waitress said they been in the same building since 1978. I had the 12 oz ribeye, creamed spinach and baked potato. My wife had the filet and sea bass that was on special. Not only was the ribeye a superb cut and cooked to absolute perfection, the flavor was amazing. I don't know if it was the quality of the beef or the aging or the fact they've been service steaks in that building since 1978 but it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Not overly seared or seasoned or covered in butter but perfectly charred and natural flavor. Bravo to you Beef N' Bottle. I will definitely be back.

Finally got around to trying this Charlotte staple! Went on a Wednesday evening and it was totally packed. Loved the wall art, lower lighting, and classic vibe. Side note: I love anywhere that has their own matchbooks! To drink, my date had an old fashioned and I had a dirty martini. Both cocktails were perfectly made, and the bleu cheese olives were great. To eat, we started with the escargot. I've had it before, my date had not. He was so surprised that it was as good as it was. Perfectly buttery and melt-in-your-mouth. The bread that accompanied it was wonderful too. For entrees, he had the ribeye with a Caesar and loaded baked potato. I had the filet medallions, one with the horseradish crust and the other with the red wine butter. On the side, I had a Caesar and broccoli. My filet medallions were cooked a perfect medium rare and was some of the best steak I've had. The horseradish was strong - which was to be expected, but keep that in mind! The red wine butter was absolutely delicious. Broccoli was exactly how I like it, steamed, soft, and lightly buttered. Caesar was good too, but the steak was definitely the star. Service throughout was excellent. Despite how busy it was, everything came out relatively quickly. We had the best time and I can't wait to return.

Everything but the steak was amazing. Sadly, since this is a steakhouse, I can't make up too many stars for the stellar service, delicious sides and appetizers, and great old fashioned. From the outside, you may question going here, but you have to at least give it a try. It's a classic old steakhouse and the inside vibe is as such. I went with some folks for a business dinner and managed to snap a few pics. The lighting wasn't great so I did my best. And for a 5p reservation, the place filled up quick, so they're doing some things right. Our server was amazing. He explained everything and how it works and how he'd guide us through the night. He said he was the bartender as well and the old fashioned's were spot on! I ordered the Filet/Sea Bass special with the traditional salad and their potato cheese cake things. But started out with a shrimp cocktail with house made cocktail sauce with LOTS of horseradish. Yum!!!! I like it when it clears your sinuses, and it really did. The salad was served as a plate of lettuce, another plate with salad fixin's (olives, onions, peppers, radish, etc.) and your house-made dressing of choice. The salad was fresh and delicious. The dinner is where things fell apart. The Sea Bass was good, but it wasn't that melt-in-your-mouth-like-buttah which I've had on occasion. It was a nice piece of fish but it was slightly over, not to the point of it being ruined, but to the point of not being an excellent compliment to the steak. The Filet was overcooked. I ordered medium rare and it was medium in the center but that was like 2 bites. The rest was more medium well and it ate like a piece of meat flavored bubbalicious, where you chew and chew and chew and it just doesn't want to go down. Since it was a business dinner, I didn't pull out my Elite Badge and go into Karen mode. I just finished up and said I was full and it was good. Maybe the larger steak (10 oz) would have been cooked better than the smaller steak in the combo (6 oz). The others at the dinner enjoyed their meals and their appetizers as well. I forgot what they ordered, but 2 out of 3 were satisfied. I'd probably give it another try if I needed to go to a "nice" dinner, but I've had better food throughout the Charlotte area.

Another amazing experience at beef n bottle the other night. The service is fabulous, the dimly lit dining room is intimate, and the steak literally melts in your mouth. Can't wait to come up with an excuse to treat myself again here!

    Yes, I believe they do.

Upon arrival, we curated a playlist of our favorite tunes on the Jukebox, accompanied by orders of drinks and a Fried Calamari appetizer. Opting for variety, we chose the shrimp, snow-crab, and black mussel combo shaker bag along with a fried shrimp basket. Notably, one female patron was inspired to rise from her seat and dance briefly as our selected music played, creating a convivial atmosphere that likely enhanced the experience for all Mother's Day attendees. The cuisine was outstanding, and the boiled seafood shaker bags came with a selection of seasonings and spice levels, though I don't recall ours specifically. The seafood in the shaker bag was cooked to perfection, and the fried seafood was both tasty and crispy. If I were to offer a suggestion, the corn on the cob in the shaker bag might have benefited from slightly less cooking time. We emptied the bag, save for the juices, and even ordered hush puppies to enjoy with the remaining broth. Our server was exceptional, providing unhurried service, keeping our beverages replenished, and ensuring an overall memorable Mother's Day experience.

It's one…read moreof those comfort foods I don't eat often because it's so rich--but when I see it on a menu, it absolutely catches my attention. That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

I've heard rave reviews about this place so Michelle & I went for Sunday Brunch…read more They recommended a reservation so we had one @ 12n. It was already quite busy when we arrived and it's not clear where your parking options are. People are pulling up to the entrance and dropping people off so it gets jammed up and chaotic, of course people are running late so those BIG Yukons and Suburbans are making it a challenge to navigate a small entrance area. You would THINK they would at least have a Valet option of Sat/Sun during Brunch. To park, go BEHIND the restaurant on the street to the left and you'll see some free parking options that are close and walkable. We asked for a table on the patio and were immediately seated. The bar was already buzzing with solo diners enjoying their Mimosas. The patio is NOT that big, a little over crowded and table are very close with not much space in between. There was a LARGE group of 'FUN' ladies right beside us enjoying their MIMOSAS, dropping the 'F' bomb from time to time and making a LOT of noise. What can you do? Nothing but try to make the best of it and just start talking LOUDER like everyone else. The OVERHEAD heaters were way too intense so the Staff was very responsive at our request to turn down the heat. We shared the BBQ Shrimp Starter which was SO good, I highly recommend. I had the Gumbo and Michelle had the beet and goat cheese salad. We both had the Red Fish which comes with smashed potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes were so BLAND, the broccoli had NO seasoning. The Red Fish wasn't that great of a flavor and not very tender, not easy to cut, had to use my knife at times to get a bite. Kinda disappointed, I lived in N Orleans for a couple of years and it was always so good there. The biggest disappointment was the Gumbo. It had all the right ingredients but the ROUX was to strong, dark and heavy. It actually gave me indigestion afterwards. The service was OUTSTANDING. Our Server was Daylean, she was so nice and helpful with the menu and kept our refills coming.
