So the other day I took my mother out to brunch at Ruby Sunshine! First time ever going. The inside was nice with lots of booths lining the wall and sturdy table and chairs with padding all throughout! Outside there was a large patio for nice weather dinning. I noticed a lot of benches outside as well so I'm guessing that on the weekends this place is pretty busy. We did end up coming later in their day as they close at 2 during the week so we got a table no problem. I started off wanting to try their sweet tea which is great! Mom ordered the ruby mimosa but it was not what we were hoping for. It was very sour and tasted more like grapefruit juice instead of OJ. To her credit our server was very polite and offered to change it out. Mom got the Peach Bellini instead and was very happy with it! By the end of the meal and the drink mom was feeling very happy! We put an order of the Beignets in right away with our drink orders. You get 6 hot and fluffy beignets covered in powdered sugar! For 2-3 people this is a fine app. If you have more people in your party better get a second order! I ordered the sweet heat chicken and french toast bites! This was kind of their play on the chicken n waffle and I gotta say I am here for it all day! I received two large pieces of chicken in a crunchy yet spicy batter! The plate was loaded with french toast bites! I have to say at least 3 pieces of french toast that was cut up into bites. It also came with fresh cut strawberries! The strawberries really helped cool down the spices in the chicken. Also, they brought out the syrup already warmed up. I love that! A few of the bites were a little crunchy so maybe they were a tad over fried but really not anything to be sad about and I ate every one of them! Mom ordered the breakfast taco's with the applewood bacon added in. As you can see from the photo's each of her grilled tortillas' were overflowing with goodness. She only finished two of them and the third became a snack later on. I felt the side of breakfast potatoes was a little over done but mom loves the crunchy bites so she was in heaven. Since I do these reviews I like to try as much as I can without having to be rolled out of the restaurant. So I had to try their buttermilk biscuit and pancakes. OMG were they good! They have a "sweet" butter they serve with it and it was so good. I wish I had room to order a whole stack of those pancakes! The biscuit was thick but not dense! It was so light and fluffy! The Hot Honey chicken biscuit is on my mind for my next visit. If you're looking for a new spot with amazing staff and food then please give this place a try.

My wife and I stayed in the Ballentyne area of Charlotte and found Ruby Sunshine near our hotel. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Since if is Mother's Day, they gave my wife a carnation flower. I ordered the Southern Breakfast, and it was delicious. You will not leave Ruby Sunshine hungry!

Had such a good experience at Ruby Sunshine that we literally came back a second time today just to grab another iced coffee From the second we had walked in...even earlier they remembered us, Laura the hostess was warm, welcoming, and peak service energy. Then Nicci our waitress took great care of us...super sweet, attentive, and on top of everything (and her beautiful plug earrings were such a vibe ). Drinks stayed full and she checked on us just the right amount. We had the beignets earlier (because desserts spelled backwards is stressed and we're not doing that in the morning ) warm, fluffy, perfectly sweet. The tater tots were crispy golden perfection. And that iced coffee topped with whipped cream? So good we had to run it back the same day. Smooth, refreshing, extra indulgent with that whip on top.....Also the place was spotless. Not a dirty table, not even a tiny straw wrapper on the floor. You can tell they take pride in their space. Amazing service, incredible food, super clean environment.

When I arrived, I was happy to see that there was easy parking in a huge parking lot set aside for the restaurant. Upon walking in we were seated, the waitress was very helpful about recommended menu items. My sons ordered off the kids menu and we're happy to see you pancakes and French toast as options. My boys thoroughly enjoyed their breakfast, and I ordered the loaded potatoes and they were the best I have ever had. The beignets were delicious too, I can't wait to come back and bring some of my friends also. Thanks Ruby sunshine for a great mother Son day out!

I absolutely love Ruby Sunshine's fried chicken so I was so excited to bring my husband to try the best fried chicken ever! Imagine my disappointment when it came out looking burnt. It took quite a bit of time to get our server's attention (the bartender) and she brought another piece that looked the same. She said that the kitchen said this is how it looks because of the oil. I then told her I actually came for the fried chicken and it normally does not look or taste burnt. The third time it came out looking golden brown not burnt. They did not give me a fresh biscuit so my biscuit was cold by the time I got my hot chicken and we never saw a manager. My husband had an eggs Benedict of some type but it was very overcooked, not runny at all. I love Ruby Sunshine so I will definitely give them another try but maybe not this location.

There's a reason this restaurant has a line out the door. The food is great! The hostess was so nice despite patrons being rude to her (be kind to your wait staff or go home) and the wait wasn't too bad. Highly recommend walking down to Pikes and going plant shopping while you wait. Our server was also very nice! We got the loaded tots to start which are so good we ate half before I got a picture. I got biscuits and gravy with fries, eggs, and bacon. My only complaint is the gravy tastes like it has a chicken base and I prefer it to be fully sausage based. Otherwise fantastic. My peach Bellini wasn't very peachy. Do expect to be here for over an hour due to the high influx of patrons but that's outside of the restaurants control. I'd definitely come back!

We came here with mediocre expectations. Our goal was a decent brunch and a mimosa. What we got would be comparable if Temu had breakfast options. It took forever to place our order. I ordered the shrimp and grits, absolutely awful. The green peppers were still raw and crunchy. Grits were lumpy and gritty. I only ate the shrimp and left the rest. I get nervous about having food returned. The BF said his chicken sandwich was good, just a basic sandwich. The service, trash. Our server appeared to be the bartender and our server at the same time. With that being said, it was not very busy in there at all and there were 2 other servers. I believe there were a total of 6 tables among the 2 servers and the bartender. She forgot to bring our drinks, brought us our tab and I gently stated that we didnt receive our drinks. We weren't asked if we needed anything else before the tab was given to us. At that point, we had already finished eating but never received our drinks. She quickly threw the drinks together and quickly gave them to us. Didn't ask if we needed boxes or coffee, just more of a "here ya go, bye". After getting our drinks, we waited another 15 mins or so before I asked to pay our tab, the server never returned for us to close out. I had to ask a different server if we could please pay our bill. Between the trash service and disgusting food, we will definitely not be back.

My first visit was on a weekday morning to meet up with friends who were visiting from out of town. The restaurant is big and it was empty except for a couple of tables. Our table shared the loaded tots. So good! I chose to try the shrimp and grits and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was very flavorful and I greatly enjoyed it. The service was good and the ambiance was casual. I'm open to visiting again to try other options but I wouldn't say that it's made my list of top choices for breakfast/brunch.

Made reservations for a party of 9 about 3 hours early before our intended time on a Sunday afternoon for brunch. I called ahead to ensure that we will be able to be seated. We did still have about a 40 min wait once arriving. We were told that was to give their kitchen some time to accommodate us. The food overall was pretty tasty, had pretty good flavor and came out nice and hot. The mimosa flight was more flavorful than the traditional mimosa, which was flat. Our server was nice and checked in pretty frequently. This is our first time with this location, but we would return again. We do love brunch food.

We went there for a brunch on Sunday morning. Our arrival was lesson stellar. Didn't really feel warm and welcoming. We set our table for at least 10 minutes before someone came to wait on us as it appeared there was some confusion about whose table it was to take care of. Once our server did arrive, her name was Alex and she was fabulous. It was her third day on the job and she stayed on top of everything. She did not forget anything we did not feel like she ever forgot us. She brought everything we asked for we did not have to ask for it multiple times and we did give her a review to the floor manager. The ambience was not what I expected. I expected a little more uphill than what I found there. It kind of reminded me of a Chili's or an Applebee's. But it was clean and the decor was nice. It looked like they probably did have a large room to take large parties separate from the main dining area. As expected, it was the New Orleans Orleans team restaurant with decor that matched. We started our day off with coffee and beignets and the loaded tots. The beignets were light and fluffy and warm. They were delicious. The loaded tops was a large portion. I ended up bringing half of it home with me. It was savory. The tots were crispy. The pork on top with flavorful was not dry at all the gravy was a little salty, but not too salty. But overall, they were delicious. I also got a side order of the Applewood smoked bacon. That was delicious. It was cooked perfectly not too crispy done correctly. My husband ordered the Peacemaker which was a combination of two of the eggs Benedict one was the Chicken Saint Charles and the second was Eggs Cochon. He said his favorite was the Chicken Saint Charles. It was crispy. It was full of flavor. The biscuit that the chicken was on was light and fluffy, and the egg on the top was perfect. The Eggs Cochon had pork on the top. Again with a perfectly cooked egg. The meat was savory. It was not dry at all, and the portions were huge. The coffee which I must admit I think I had 3 cups of while we were there was great if you like strong coffee. I would actually give this place a 3 1/2 star rating. It is nice for a laid-back leisurely brunch.

I was looking fur somewhere to try for brunch and ended up at this place. I've wanted to check them out since they opened, but the wait has always been long. Today, I was able to get in right away. We started with the beignets. They were not good at all and smaller than any I e ever seen. Tasted like a dough ball with powdered sugar and no flavor. Pancakes and bacon were perfect, created an omelette with chicken sausage good as well. The chicken biscuit was just okay. Nothing special. Check them out though and see what you think.

This is all that was left after breakfast

Myself & my husband are visiting from Atlanta and we decided to visit Ruby Sunshine because we love Ruby slippers in Nee Orleans. Our experience was amazing. Sade T our server was very helpful, friendly & knowledgeable about everything Ruby Sunshine. Thanks Sade The food was really good and fresh. I had my favorite, avocado toast & my husband had the catfish & grits plate. We sure did have a good time!!!

I really enjoyed this location. I celebrated my birthday brunch here with 15 guest and everyone truly enjoyed it even my nephews. There truly was something for everyone on the menu. The breakfast was phenomenal. I had their infamous stuffed French toast along with eggs and potatoes. The manager went above and beyond to accommodate my party and as well as the waiters. I definitely highly recommend this location if you're looking for a venue to host a party since the manager Kevin goes above and beyond to make sure that your needs are met.

I've been to several of their locations around the Charlotte area and they all share the same strengths: consistently great coffee, friendly baristas, and a calm, grounded atmosphere that makes even a quick stop feel like a small reset in the day. This particular shop isn't large, and the laptop crowd has definitely discovered it. There are only a handful of tables, so I felt genuinely lucky to land the last open one and settle in with my cortado. The drink was exactly what I expect from Summit every time, rich and balanced and served with the kind of quiet confidence that comes from a place that knows what it's doing. I opened the laptop, got a bit of work done, and enjoyed the rhythm of the room as people drifted in and out. And when the cortado was gone, so was I. It's the kind of space where I felt a gentle responsibility to make room for the next person once I've had your moment, especially on a busy morning. Even with its small footprint, it remains one of the most dependable coffee experiences in the area, and I always leave feeling like the stop was worth it. I needed a Cafe that was close to hotel and Convention Center. Amelie's was between the two spots so it worked out perfectly! They have the best hours to grab a matcha before the conference and a lattes afterwards. Pastries are delicious and so are the egg sandwiches. The best part is the fun artsy decor! Every space is thoughtful planned out. Service was really good. The customers were friendly and stopped to talk. My kind of place. I later found out that many of the other foodies have been here and it's one of their favorite places to!

Review for Amélie's French Bakery & Café…read more As a transplant from the West Coast--specifically San Francisco, where high-quality bakeries and true French pâtisseries are plentiful--I was genuinely excited to try Amélie's after moving to Charlotte. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing, and after giving it more than one chance, it's simply not a place I plan to return to. The concept feels more like a themed destination than a serious bakery. The interior is whimsical and eye-catching, with decorative elements like a faux Eiffel Tower, which clearly appeals to visitors looking for a fun atmosphere. However, if you've spent time in authentic French cafés or bistros, you know the real charm is understated elegance--wood, mirrors, tile, and craftsmanship. This felt more theatrical than authentic. Where it fell short for me was the food. For a place calling itself a French bakery and pâtisserie, the absence of classic laminated pastries was surprising. I was expecting staples like Napoleons, kouign-amann, or beautifully executed croissants. What I found instead were pastries that looked average and lacked the refinement and technique you'd expect from a true pâtisserie. On my visits, I tried: * A leek soup that was supposed to be cream-based but tasted thin and under-seasoned--more like warm vegetable water than a properly developed soup. * A baguette sandwich with fig, Brie, and apple that sounded promising but was poorly executed. The bread was overly hard, and the balance of ingredients felt off, making the sandwich less enjoyable than expected. I gave Amélie's two chances, hoping the second visit would change my impression. It didn't. To be fair, the café clearly has a loyal following and works well as a social or casual gathering spot. But if you're specifically looking for high-quality French pastries or refined bakery craftsmanship, there are stronger options in the Charlotte area. Personally, I'd recommend: * Renaissance Patisserie for more traditional European-style pastries * Paris Baguette at Rea Farms for consistency and better execution * Or trusted local favorites closer to home Bottom line: Fun atmosphere, but the food didn't meet expectations for a French bakery.
