Jo Jo was our server and she was great. Super sweet and attentive. I started with a Mimosa flight, but they all tasted similar and I couldn't distinguish which was which. I ordered the Gulf shrimp omelette without onions and peppers because I'm basic like that. It came with a biscuit and grits that I gave to my husband. I'm a Southerner who doesn't eat grits. My omelette was really good. It was filled with sizable and flavorful shrimp; they met my shrimp to egg ratio. The biscuit was a tad dry but the maple flavored butter made it amazing. Hubby said the grits lacked flavor. Overall, a decent experience. Do I have to go back? Not necessarily because there are so many fabulous brunch options in the area. read more

My husband and I were excited to try Ruby Sunshine for the first time on Labor Day since we were both off and looking for a nice brunch spot close by. I joined the waitlist through their website at 11:32 a.m. and received a confirmation text. The host said the wait would be about 45 minutes. When we arrived, I was surprised to see that the parking lot wasn't full and there wasn't a line like other busy brunch places. I checked in, and the hostess told us it would actually be 15 minutes. The restaurant itself didn't look very full, but we were told they were short-staffed, the manager had just left, and only two cooks were working. After waiting an additional 25 minutes, I went back to ask for an update, and the hostess said she was waiting on the cooks to give the "ok." At that point, my husband and I realized that even if we got seated, we'd likely wait another hour just to get food. We decided to leave and go elsewhere, which turned out to be the right choice since we already had lunch before Ruby finally texted me at 1:50 p.m. that we had been removed from the waitlist. This was our first time trying Ruby Sunshine, and unfortunately, it wasn't even about the food -- it was the lack of organization, communication, and overall customer service. The menu offers a decent variety of cocktails, appetizers, salads, and a slew of brunch dishes to fit savory and sweet needs. We ordered a variety of their signature items for this first visit. Fried Green Tomatoes -More of a BLT flow topped with bacon, diced tomatoes, lettuce, and a chipotle ranchy style remoulade dressing. 2 out of 5 for this. Pumpkin Cream Cheese Beignets- Stuffed pastries with a sweet and rich fluffy marshmallow cream sauce for dipping. Definitely join the waitlist! I mean what did I expect on a Sunday morning during prime brekkie time and prior to an NFL game? Obviously there will be a wait. Joined the waitlist so the antagonizing suspense wasn't as prolonged. Our waiter was Kevin. He was awesome! Friendly, personable and kind. We couldn't have asked for more! As for what we ordered, Shrimp and Grits, Chicken and French Toast bites and stack of pancakes . Everything arrived QuiCK and it was delicious! The pancakes tasted like funnel cake, so fluffy and delicious! Shrimp and grits were savory and flavorful. Chicken and French toast bites provided the more balanced mix of spicy hot and sweet. Of course I almost forgot to mention I ordered the Award Winning Bloody Mary as well. Brunch isn't the same without one IMO. It was oh so tasty! You have a choice between vodka or tequila, I opted for vodka per Kevin's suggestion and I was pleasantly surprised. This past Sunday we ventured out to Ruby Sunshine Ballantyne. We arrived about 11:45 but put name on wait list prior to arriving. The wait 40 mins we sat in the car after waiting no call we back in and another lady said we were now 7th on the list and they had tables open. I proceeded to speak with the original host and we were immediately seated. Our waitress was nice but pulling double duty so not attentive at all. We ordered fried green tomatoes and beignets to start with hot chocolate and an Irish cream. For entrees we both ordered catfish and grits. It was good with the sauce on it. Without the sauce the dish would be bland. Good biscuits, beignets thin but tasty. I was not a fan of fried green tomatoes but my friend enjoyed them Our entrees came BEFORE our starters. No waitress until time for check. This is a place to visit during the week when less chaotic or order to go. They need reservations so people aren't piled at front door and need more help if the wait is going to be 40 minutes to an hour on weekends. read more

Food and service were both great. We came on a weekday so it was kind of slow inside which was great for us because we were seated and served right away. Food is very customizable which is always a plus. My boyfriend and I split a trifecta. He doesn't like poached eggs so I was able to order them on the side. The berry pancakes were delicious and a huge portion for a side serving. The chef (man with cooking apron and funky print pants) check in on us to make sure we enjoyed our meal. 3rd and final attempt. The 1st time was amazing but also on day 1, and the trainers were still there. Since then the food is good but the service is absolutely substandard fo the prices. Came on a Friday morning at about 11:30am. Was told they need to let the kitchen catch up (which is fine and actually a good idea). Waited about 20 minutes and was in my car to leave when they texted that my table was ready. I decided to go ahead and eat since I had waited. Well, the server (Travis) arrived as soon as I sat down and asked what I wanted. I tried to order a drink but asked for a minute since I just sat down. He then came back a few minutes later and asked if I wanted that drink. The one that I had already asked for....... The food came put quickly but was brought by a runner. I NEVER saw Travis again until I had finished eating and sat with empty plates and cups for almost 20 minutes!!!! I had held to the menu because I was planning on ordering another drink and a 2nd meal, but Travis was so unfriendly and inattentive that I didn't bother. 3 and FINAL time at this location.....such a let down. read more

I really enjoyed my visit at Ruby sunshine! We came early on a Saturday morning after picking up my wedding dress, so we had to celebrate. The service was excellent and our waitress was very accommodating. I ordered the basic breakfast, my mom got the shrimp and grits, and my sister got the avocado toast. It was about a 15-25 minute wait, but there is plenty to do in the shopping center like Pikes, Hollywood Feed, or an entrance to a greenway to take a quick walk around a pond. read more

We loved this place so much. The flight was perfect and a great way to try out some mimosas. All the drinks are very strong. I didn't like the large one, can't remember the name of it and when I told my waiter they switched it for one I did like. He was amazing and very attentive to us. Our eggs Benedict's were served over biscuits and honestly phenomenal. The manager was coming around asking everyone how everything was and was very pleased when we told him we loved it all. Nowadays, it is rare for a restaurant to allow a reservation, especially on a Sunday during peak hours for brunch. This is another reason why we choose Ruby Sunshine for a brunch date with my girls. They allow reservations and they have lots of tables and a patio to choose from. I will say that they do not sit any party down at a table until the entire party is present! Even though the restaurant was busy for a Sunday brunch, we were seated and menus were already at the table. By the time the server grabbed our drink orders, we were ready to order food. The server was always around at the right time for coffee and water refilIs. We did end up with a ruby slipper mimosa and a Bellini. I ordered the shrimp Benedict's but opted for scrambled eggs instead of the usual poached eggs. The presentation of the food was still beautiful, hot and fresh. My sister and I were able to enjoy hot fresh food and still feel like our conversation was private. We opted for seating inside instead of at the patio due to that early morning summer heat. Their restrooms are small but super clean, and they even have a diaper changing station which was much needed for my 17 month old. The restrooms smells like flowers. Parking is not a problem since this location is located within a shopping center. Parking spots will always be available. read more

I was out here visiting from Vegas and my friend found this place and boy when I tell you I really enjoyed myself. Everything we ate other than the catfish was so so good. Make sure you have the shrimp n grits, fried green tomatoes, beignets, oh the biscuits which by the way came with everything I ordered. The mimosa flight was yummy especially the blueberry lavender and watermelon mimosa. The staff was awesome Thanks to Nikki and the chef. Came on a weekday to get breakfast. The place wasn't too crowded. We were easily able to get a seat without a wait there's plenty of parking in this parking lot. Had the breakfast tacos which were tasty in the grits with chicken sausage were also good. They have an omelette you can make however they do charge $1.25 for each ingredient so it can get costly. It does not say this on the menu. The mimosa flight was quite tasty. I enjoyed the watermelon flavor as well as the pineapple one. I had high hopes for the blueberry lavender, but it was a big fail for me. The staff were friendly but not as attentive as desired being. I've loved Ruby Sunshine in the past. This time service was terrible. The wait for food was long, despite the restaurant being half empty. Waitress never checked to see if we needed refills of drinks. I could see her standing by the kitchen. Had to go to the wait stand to inquire on the status of our order and was informed the kitchen was short staffed. No excuse for no follow-up from waitstaff. I can finally say I understand the hype about Ruby Sunshine. Their biscuits with the cinnamon butter brought tears to my eyes lol. I wouldn't recommend the mimosa flights, I thought it was mediocre at best. The lavender Paloma however was EVERYTHING!! For the entree it was hard to decide because everything on the menu sounded delicious, but I ended up ordering the migas which did not disappoint. This place is definitely worth the wait. The servers there were also amazing. There were two ladies working at the bar that day, but I can't remember their names. Welp, we are 0/2 for good experiences at RS. Our 45 min wait totaled 95 minutes by the time we were sat. It looked like there were 3 girls serving the ENTIRE place. It's not their fault but management - DO BETTER. I also don't know who's call it was to put a stoned line cook as hostess but his kite was higher than I've seen in awhile. Food was average. I came here for the first time on a work lunch. We arrived near the tail end of the Mardi Gras work lunch and had to wait a bit to be seated, it seemed like 2 servers were handling the entire restaurant. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful when she was with us, though her visits were not super frequent it didn't affect our meal. We had beignets for appetizers which were not amazing but were pretty good and warm. My friend got egg Benedict which he didn't complain about but the poached eggs were basically hard boiled. I got the breakfast tacos with chorizo and they were pretty good. I'm not sure if I'll come back, I am curious to try some sweet dishes though so we'll see! read more
