Order and seat yourself style restaurant. They serve cocktails also. All staff were great. They regularly walk around clearing tables and checking on everyone although you don't have a dedicated server. Our food arrived to the table HOT!! Truly made to order but it doesn't take long to receive. I tried the crab cake grit bowl. Grits were seasoned well and the accompaniments went well. The crab cake was too soggy for my liking. I would have preferred it be cooked longer or maybe use of less binder. Overall I would come back and try one of the other items on the menu.
My favorite breakfast place in Charlotte. The food is always so good and it's not basic. They include a good amount of meatless options. The service is nice, staff is friendly. It's always pretty quiet and peaceful.
I'll admit it. I lowered my expectations when I walked in. The restaurant has more of a dive feel than I expected. It's small, you order cafeteria style before being seated, you seat yourself, and it can get a little noisy. We visited on a Sunday around 2:10 p.m., and there were still plenty of tables available. Then I tasted the food. The menu is built around customization. You can build your own waffle by choosing your waffle, meat, toppings, and sauce. Or build your own biscuit or grit bowl the same way. There are enough combinations that you could come back several times and order something different each visit. I ordered the Chicken and Red Velvet Waffle. It comes with crispy fried chicken, a red velvet waffle, cream cheese drizzle, syrup, and cinnamon butter. The chicken was crispy and juicy, although a few bites were a little salty. Not every bite, and the syrup balanced it out nicely. The cinnamon butter was a nice touch. However the waffles literally disintegrated under the chi My daughter ordered the Crab Cake Benedict Biscuit, and we shared it. It comes with a crab cake, sunny side up eggs, arugula, spinach, and hollandaise on a flaky biscuit. We also shared an order of Crispy Brussels Sprouts. Both were delicious, and the portions were generous enough that we still had leftovers to take home. One thing I liked was the variety of toppings and sauces. I had never heard of bacon jam before seeing it on the menu. If you like to customize your food, you'll have fun here. I came in expecting average and left planning my next visit. Must order: Crab Cake Benedict Biscuit, and the Crispy Brussels Sprouts. Tip: Don't skip the build-your-own options. There are enough combinations to create something every body likes.
The size of the inside took away from the overall experience. Note that it is a place that you order in-line and the food comes out to your table, not traditional table side service. the We did not know that before going so it was a bit shocking and the line was a bit long with not many seats. Overall, the price point for the portion sizes were great and the food was pretty good. Would maybe return to do a pickup food order or place a to-go but wouldn't return for dine in.

Both were delicious, I can't wait to go back and try another combo. However, they are massive so definitely shareable if you just do one or take half home for dinner. The portions are truly generous!
I'm always down for a good brunch, and this spot was the perfect way to wrap up our last morning in Charlotte. The Wafflery is a fast-casual breakfast spot with a surprisingly extensive menu--think waffles, biscuits, and plenty of other brunch favorites. It took me a minute to decide because everything sounded so good! Everything we ordered was flavorful and hit the spot. You can tell they don't cut corners when it comes to taste. They have two locations, and we visited the Rozzelles Ferry location, which was a great choice because there was more parking available. Just a heads up--both locations get pretty busy on weekends, but the line moves quickly, so the wait isn't too bad. If you're visiting Charlotte or just looking for a solid brunch option, this is definitely worth checking out
Not enough staff. Food just ok. I visited on a Friday morning around 10:40am. The restaurant was about half full and there were people sitting inside and on the outside patio. There were a lot of empty tables that were covered in empty dishes and needed to be bussed. That being said, after the group on front of me had their orders taken at the counter, the cashier left for 10 minutes to go bus all the dirty tables. The line of customers grew longer and longer while this one cashier cleaned the entire restaurant, inside tables and patio tables. I did see another worker who came out and prepared a couple of alcoholic beverages and then went back to the back. I also saw a couple of BOH cooks who came out briefly. They definitely needed another staff member to bus tables instead of making the cashier do everything. When I finally got my food delivered to me I was disappointed that they served my eggs with a broken yolk. The biscuit was huge (it's hard to tell from the pic) and could be shared by 2-3 people. The food tasted fine but just average. The people at the table next to me complained very loudly that their waffles were soggy and undercooked. There is street parking as well as a small parking lot located at the end of the building.
I highly recommend! From the food, the service and the ambience everything was a wonderful experience! We visited Saturday during brunch hour with a large party. So first and foremost, let's talk about the process of this eatery, you are expected to come in and wait in line grab a menu and then order at the counter. Once you order your food you will get a number to go with your meal then you will choose your seating area for larger parties, the staff will assist and support you with seating. Patrons are not following this process and they are saving tables as they enter which is extending the wait time in line. I ordered the chicken and red velvet waffle, and it was delicious! The chicken was fried perfectly and the cream cheese drizzle paired perfect with the velvet waffle! I didn't even use syrup. I ordered a cup of Parmesan grits on the side. I recommend that you try them. All paired with a pineapple mimosa. I am looking forward to returning. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
If I could give 6 out of 5 stars to this place I would, love love love them providing vegan options to include the vegan community. We were doubtful if only 2 waffles and biscuit would be enough for us but man! That was sooo filling. We ordered 1. Vegan waffle with peach and cinnamon apples 2. Vegan waffle with blueberries and cherry compote, vegan chicken and peanut butter 3. Vegan biscuit And EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS . Filled our breakfast cravings so very well. Such a cute lovely vibe. Definitely recommend to all.

We are our food and it was served on a table in less than 10 minutes! My biscuit was delicious my family enjoyed their waffles! I will certainly return with the rest of the family. The staff members were all very nice and seem excited to be working there.

I ordered brussel sprouts, grits, a biscuit, and a side of vegan sausage. I wasn't a fan of the biscuit or sausage but the grits and brussel sprouts were a 10/10. It was hard to find the restaurant. But I eventually found it on the corner. Parking was weird. Not many spots in front, but I was able to find a parking lot.

The flavors were bold, savory, and had just the right amount of spice. My mom had the Peaches and Cream waffle with added chicken--so good! The waffle was tasty with a great texture, and the sweet and savory combo really hit the spot. The space is small, with limited indoor and outdoor seating, and it can get packed quickly--but it's really cute and cozy, with a fun, welcoming vibe. Everyone in my family enjoyed their meals and said they'd definitely come back. Great service and great food--we'll be back!
Quick-ish Sunday brunch on our way out of town! Food: Really enjoyed it. GF banana fosters waffle with all the decadent toppings. It's hearty. It's yummy. And you can customize for allergen friendliness (gluten free, vegan...). Service: You stand in line, order, and then someone brings the food to your table. Not ideal to stand with a kid, and not ideal that they make a fuss about you settling in at a table before you order. Ambiance: Eh. You don't come here for the ambiance. But the outdoor seating is lovely on a beautiful day. Kid-friendly? Mostly, yes! Got a high chair. Ordered from the kids menu. Changing table in the bathroom. Saw some other little friends to interact with while there.

First time here, and overall it was a great experience! I ordered the chicken and waffles, and it was so good--crispy, flavorful, and definitely something I'd order again. My daughter got the waffle with strawberries and bacon. Unfortunately, her waffle wasn't as good as mine; it was a bit soggy, and a few of the strawberry pieces had dark spots and appeared overripe. I could have mentioned it, but it was only a couple of pieces, so we just picked them out and moved on. I ended up sharing my chicken and waffles with her, and she loved it too! Despite the small issue with her meal, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try, especially the chicken and waffles. read more

This is one of those places you'll randomly think about three weeks from now for absolutely no reason. The moistness of the waffle. The tenderness of the chicken. The customer service. The FLAWLESS playlist. I'm talking no skips. The staff was super friendly, the place was clean and colorful, and the whole vibe screamed Queen City all day. I ate entirely too much, and at one point I was seriously considering making a whole damn TikTok just to explain how good the food was. And listen... the Red Velvet Chicken & Waffles?! The food was seriously so good. The bacon was cooked perfectly, crispy and full of flavor, and honestly one of the best parts of the meal. Everything tasted fresh, and after trying it, I can definitely see this becoming my new favorite brunch spot. What impressed me the most was that I got it to go, and the quality was still amazing. A lot of brunch food just isn't the same once you take it home, but everything held up really well and tasted like it would have if I had eaten it in the restaurant. That's a huge plus for me, and I'll definitely be back. read more

I hate even having to write this, but this experience needs to be shared. I dined at The Wafflery in Charlotte and immediately noticed something was off when my food was brought to the table -- there was a hair in my food. I calmly sent it back, and instead of taking accountability, the server Rebecca suggested it might have been from eggs... which made no sense because I didn't even order eggs. Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, I asked for my food to be remade to-go. When I got home and opened it... I was beyond disgusted. There was a long hair UNDER the chicken. At that point, it no longer felt like an accident. It felt careless at best -- and intentional at worst. This is exactly why people hesitate to send food back. Not because mistakes don't happen, but because of what can happen after. I was respectful the entire time, so there was absolutely no reason for my food to come back like that. Food safety and basic hygiene should never be negotiable. No one should feel like they're risking their health just to eat out. Do better, The Wafflery. This was unacceptable. read more

Arguably one of the best brunch/breakfast spots in Charlotte. I have been here twice, and the food and service were good. I ordered the build-your-own grit bowl with veggie sausage, arugula spinach, green onion, tomato and pesto. It was absolutely delicious, with great flavor in every layer. The grits are particularly noteworthy--creamy, smooth and thick. The waffles are delicious. perfectly cooked and piping hot. Hot, too doughy, and not too crunchy. I like strawberries on top for a classic flavor. Their honey butter pairs well with this. I have also had their solid biscuit, which would make a great biscuit sandwich, though not necessarily a star on its own. Their service is excellent and prompt. Although their seating system seems a bit off at first, it is honestly ingenious. So, if you're eating in, just trust the process. Great experience overall. I'll keep coming back without a doubt. read more

It doesn't look like much from the outside but when walking in, there is a sweet smell of waffle, a hustle and bustle business with a steady flow of customers! We came on a sunday and this place was crowded!! The line moved fast but as much as I thought this was a hidden gem, it didn't feel so hidden after all! The waffle was purely perfection! I could have had 3 more! The crab cake grits bowl was mouthwatering! I can't believe it took me so long to try it out! Don't sleep on the Wafflery on the edge of Belmont neighborhood and Plaza midwood and I guess uptown? You won't regret it! read more
The Wafflery is a cute restaurant with Delicious Chicken and Waffles. When you enter you order at the counter and the seating is first come first served. Although it was crowded we didnt have a problem finding a seat at all. They have music playing and restaurant bustles with chatter from diners. They do offer cocktails and refillable fountain drinks. My boyfriend and I both ordered the chicken and waffles. He had traditional and I had Spicy Maple syrup. The sweet to savory ratio of the chicken and waffles very balanced. The chicken is so flavorful! The saltiness and spices are perfectly blended making the juicy chicken breast a perfect accompaniment to the fluffy golden brown waffle! I highly recommend The Wafflery!! For those who like eating outdoors, they have outside seating with a bench and table combo. read more

Great option and a fun take on a classic. We got two make your own waffles, but the biscuits we saw come out looked amazing too. Their topping selection was diverse, with great vegan options. Their regular waffle with vegan chicken, egg, fried pickles, and hot honey was delicious and a good value at $16. The pecan waffle with strawberries, coconut, and cream cheese was perfectly sweet for $10. It was so fun getting to share the sweet and savory options. Service was fast and friendly. I will say, the waffles were a little thin and got a little soggy by the end. A better sign indicating to order then sit would also be helpful. read more

Food: I ordered a pecan waffle topped with peaches, fried shrimp w/ hot honey and cheesy scrambled eggs on the side. - the waffle was soft and had the right amount of pecans. Sautéed peaches on top was so good! - The fried shrimp were a great size and tasted amazing. - The egg were good and good addition to the meal. Service: I waited on line and ordered at the register. The cashier provided me with a number to place on the table to ensure I received my correct order. Quick and efficient. Ambiance: The restaurant had a casual chill vibe with bright colors( orange and yellow). They got very busy after I joined the line ( 1:30pm on a Saturday) I can't wait to go back. read more

Gas!! Clean contemporary space. Not too busy when I came but I can imagine this place gets packed out on the weekend. Service is great. I got the pot roast grits bowl and a cold brew. Place was really cleaned. Customer service was A-1 for placing our order to the waiter. Greeted as soon as we walked in the door. Small sitting area inside but they do have outside sitting area. Food was 9 out of 10 prefer my waffles to be a little fluffy not soggy with the chicken on top but the food was delicious. Drinks was good not just juice. read more

This is a counter order spot and then they bring the food to you. Interesting concept, main items are waffles, biscuits and grits bowls. Food was very tasty. My smores waffles had a lot of toppings. They also brought out maple syrup but I didn't think it would go well with the other toppings so I didn't try it. Husband got the womlette. It was good but I wish they offered more egg options than just scrambled. It would have been amazing with over easy eggs! Our friend got the grits bowl. I'm not a grits eater so I can't say much about it. He said he wished it had been less liquidy. A good meal overall! read more
Treated myself to brunch today with a custom waffle and fried chicken. The chicken was actually the star of the show for me. Seasoned well, crispy, and a large portion. This was my first time here. Decided to go with my son and bestie for a little birthday brunch. Now the place is small but inviting. The tables are close enough for you to engage in conversation with others. They also have outdoor seating available too. Now they don't have waiters or waitresses, you order your food and drink they give you a number and bring the food to you. The servers are friendly and polite. The food was delicious my son had the red velvet waffle and chicken, my bestie had the crab cake and grit bowl while I had the pot roast and grit bowl. This was my first time here. Visited on a Monday morning around 9 AM; restaurant wasn't busy - able to walk in, order and select a table. Employee working the front was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Outside and indoor seating available. Ordered: Seasonal Iced Latte ($7) Chicken & Waffle ($16) The iced latte was delicious! Gladly paid $7 for a refill of this liquid gold. I ordered the chicken and waffles as it seems to be a popular dish. Food came to the table pretty quickly and piping hot! The chicken (boneless thighs) was juicy/tender and well-seasoned (maybe a touch salty) and the waffle was light and fluffy. A side of syrup and butter (tasted like brown sugar/cinnamon) came with the plate. Highly recommend! read more

My wife and I and her brother were in from out of town but on our way back to airport to return to Omaha Nebraska. He gave me the task of finding somewhere to eat on the way as he was driving and i chose this place as it sounded like they did breakfast. My wife's favorite thing is monarch butterflies and the decor for The Wafflery was in orange with a little black and white sprinkled in, so she liked it right away. The menu was easy to understand and they had one on screens on the wall behind the register as well as physical copies. Most everything sounded good but I decided on a waffle with a side of scrambled eggs with cheese, some cheesy grits and a sausage egg and cheese biscuit sandwich. My wife got a waffle with eggs and cinnamon apples on top with cooked cubed bacon on the side, and my brother in law got a waffle (wasn't super hungry). The food didn't take too long to come and everything was excellent! The eggs were fluffy and light. The waffles were crispy with a softness inside. The biscuit sandwich was tasty and filling. The staff was helpful and cheery, and the only negative thing I can say is there aren't any near me. If they opened one of these in Omaha, it would be a big hit and I for one would be a regular there. read more

I've been twice now and nothing disappoints. When you walk in, you might be overwhelmed by the line or the filled tables, but it clears out quickly and by the time you get through the line, there are open tables (but they do have a strict no saving tables rule). It's really cute inside, very bright and vibrant and welcoming. Their menu has everything for a sweet or savory person. Waffles, biscuits, sandwiches, bowls, all so good! The drinks aren't super strong (and you have to get in line to order another one), but they're so so good! On my first visit, I got the S'mores waffle and a mimosa, none survived long. The second time I got a womelette (red velvet waffle, egg scrambled with bacon and cheese) and the lit latte. And even though my last visit, it took super long to get my food, I almost thought they forgot about me or forgot to make the food, I still can't wait to go back. read more

If you're looking for a great breakfast spot then the Wafflery is where it's at. Food is made fresh to order, staff is so nice and helpful, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and this location offers signature cocktails and beer! The flavor was amazing and the portion sizes was great for individual or if you want to share! 10/10 recommend ! read more
