Not enough staff. Food just ok. I visited on a Friday morning around 10:40am. The restaurant was about half full and there were people sitting inside and on the outside patio. There were a lot of empty tables that were covered in empty dishes and needed to be bussed. That being said, after the group on front of me had their orders taken at the counter, the cashier left for 10 minutes to go bus all the dirty tables. The line of customers grew longer and longer while this one cashier cleaned the entire restaurant, inside tables and patio tables. I did see another worker who came out and prepared a couple of alcoholic beverages and then went back to the back. I also saw a couple of BOH cooks who came out briefly. They definitely needed another staff member to bus tables instead of making the cashier do everything. When I finally got my food delivered to me I was disappointed that they served my eggs with a broken yolk. The biscuit was huge (it's hard to tell from the pic) and could be shared by 2-3 people. The food tasted fine but just average. The people at the table next to me complained very loudly that their waffles were soggy and undercooked. There is street parking as well as a small parking lot located at the end of the building.

Gas!! Clean contemporary space. Not too busy when I came but I can imagine this place gets packed out on the weekend. Service is great. I got the pot roast grits bowl and a cold brew. Almost ordered a waffle too but good I didn't cause the grits bowl was huge. Couldn't even finish it all.l. Easy to order and they checked on me a couple times to make sure I was enjoying everything.

Place was really cleaned. Customer service was A-1 for placing our order to the waiter. Greeted as soon as we walked in the door. Small sitting area inside but they do have outside sitting area. Food was 9 out of 10 prefer my waffles to be a little fluffy not soggy with the chicken on top but the food was delicious. Drinks was good not just juice.

This is one of my sister's favorite spot. She's been raging about so I had to check it out. It was crowded with happy people eating, so I was excited just to be here. We are our food and it was served on a table in less than 10 minutes! My biscuit was delicious my family enjoyed their waffles! I will certainly return with the rest of the family. The staff members were all very nice and seem excited to be working there.

If I could give 6 out of 5 stars to this place I would, love love love them providing vegan options to include the vegan community. We were doubtful if only 2 waffles and biscuit would be enough for us but man! That was sooo filling. We ordered 1. Vegan waffle with peach and cinnamon apples 2. Vegan waffle with blueberries and cherry compote, vegan chicken and peanut butter 3. Vegan biscuit And EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS . Filled our breakfast cravings so very well. Such a cute lovely vibe. Definitely recommend to all.

I was greeted when I walked in. I was the only one in the restaurant when I arrived. Everyone was super friendly. They had several vegan options. The restaurant was clean. I ordered brussel sprouts, grits, a biscuit, and a side of vegan sausage. I wasn't a fan of the biscuit or sausage but the grits and brussel sprouts were a 10/10. It was hard to find the restaurant. But I eventually found it on the corner. Parking was weird. Not many spots in front, but I was able to find a parking lot.

We were greeted as soon as we walked in, and my family initially sat down not realizing we needed to order first. We were kindly and quickly given instructions, and we got in line to place our orders. After ordering, we were given a number and our food was brought right to our table. I had the Fiery Chicken Biscuit--and it was huge! The biscuit was perfectly flaky, and the chicken was crispy on the outside while juicy and tender on the inside. The flavors were bold, savory, and had just the right amount of spice. My mom had the Peaches and Cream waffle with added chicken--so good! The waffle was tasty with a great texture, and the sweet and savory combo really hit the spot. The space is small, with limited indoor and outdoor seating, and it can get packed quickly--but it's really cute and cozy, with a fun, welcoming vibe. Everyone in my family enjoyed their meals and said they'd definitely come back. Great service and great food--we'll be back!

Quick-ish Sunday brunch on our way out of town! Food: Really enjoyed it. GF banana fosters waffle with all the decadent toppings. It's hearty. It's yummy. And you can customize for allergen friendliness (gluten free, vegan...). Service: You stand in line, order, and then someone brings the food to your table. Not ideal to stand with a kid, and not ideal that they make a fuss about you settling in at a table before you order. Ambiance: Eh. You don't come here for the ambiance. But the outdoor seating is lovely on a beautiful day. Kid-friendly? Mostly, yes! Got a high chair. Ordered from the kids menu. Changing table in the bathroom. Saw some other little friends to interact with while there.

Great option and a fun take on a classic. We got two make your own waffles, but the biscuits we saw come out looked amazing too. Their topping selection was diverse, with great vegan options. Their regular waffle with vegan chicken, egg, fried pickles, and hot honey was delicious and a good value at $16. The pecan waffle with strawberries, coconut, and cream cheese was perfectly sweet for $10. It was so fun getting to share the sweet and savory options. Service was fast and friendly. I will say, the waffles were a little thin and got a little soggy by the end. A better sign indicating to order then sit would also be helpful.

Arguably one of the best brunch/breakfast spots in Charlotte. I have been here twice, and the food and service were good. I ordered the build-your-own grit bowl with veggie sausage, arugula spinach, green onion, tomato and pesto. It was absolutely delicious, with great flavor in every layer. The grits are particularly noteworthy--creamy, smooth and thick. The waffles are delicious. perfectly cooked and piping hot. Hot, too doughy, and not too crunchy. I like strawberries on top for a classic flavor. Their honey butter pairs well with this. I have also had their solid biscuit, which would make a great biscuit sandwich, though not necessarily a star on its own. Their service is excellent and prompt. Although their seating system seems a bit off at first, it is honestly ingenious. So, if you're eating in, just trust the process. Great experience overall. I'll keep coming back without a doubt.

It doesn't look like much from the outside but when walking in, there is a sweet smell of waffle, a hustle and bustle business with a steady flow of customers! We came on a sunday and this place was crowded!! The line moved fast but as much as I thought this was a hidden gem, it didn't feel so hidden after all! The waffle was purely perfection! I could have had 3 more! The crab cake grits bowl was mouthwatering! I can't believe it took me so long to try it out! Don't sleep on the Wafflery on the edge of Belmont neighborhood and Plaza midwood and I guess uptown? You won't regret it!

The Wafflery is a cute restaurant with Delicious Chicken and Waffles. When you enter you order at the counter and the seating is first come first served. Although it was crowded we didnt have a problem finding a seat at all. They have music playing and restaurant bustles with chatter from diners. They do offer cocktails and refillable fountain drinks. My boyfriend and I both ordered the chicken and waffles. He had traditional and I had Spicy Maple syrup. The sweet to savory ratio of the chicken and waffles very balanced. The chicken is so flavorful! The saltiness and spices are perfectly blended making the juicy chicken breast a perfect accompaniment to the fluffy golden brown waffle! I highly recommend The Wafflery!! For those who like eating outdoors, they have outside seating with a bench and table combo.

I went to Josh's Farmers market on a day I knew this truck would be there. IG pics looked great and I knew it was something my niece would enjoy. We arrived around 1pm on a Sunday afternoon and I just about stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the 30 or so people in line. However, we drove from Huntersville, and although it wasn't super far it was enough of a hassle that I didn't want to turn around and leave. So we waited. For. An. Hour. Plus. 15. Minutes. I was pretty annoyed because I had gone there somewhat hungry - silly me, not knowing how small the novelty waffles are. By the time we'd waited over an hour I also had an unhappy child who was hungry too. Finally just after 2:15 it was our turn to order. My niece wanted the original, she didn't want all the extra stuff. I wanted the Nutella/strawberry waffle and I kid you not.. they gave the last one to the woman who ordered before me. Unbelievable. I was too through.. and also by the time we got our order at about 2:30, we were starving and that little waffle did not do the job. They were tasty.. just know this is a treat, a dessert, not filling at all. I didn't expect it to be filling, I just expected them to be bigger. I do feel they are reasonably priced based on the size... but we stopped for pizza on the way home. There was one person taking orders and the other was making the orders. The woman making the orders could have used a hand. I can't understand why it took her so long to put 2-4 toppings on a waffle, but the order prep took forever. Keep this in mind if you visit .. be prepared to wait and eat a meal in advance. I'd try it again because the waffle was good, but I wouldn't wait an hour, it wasn't worth a wait that long IMO.

On every visit to Charlotte, I stop here 2-3 times, whether it's to meet up with friends and colleagues for lunch, to grab a quite bite before evening plans, to spend happy hours and dinners on that delightful back patio or to pick up that insane vegan dessert I've been craving. I mean, can it get any better than a spread of vegan elote corn, nachos smothered with beans, seitan, guac/queso/crema or my new favorite, the crunch wrap with a glass of something icy cold (I usually get a glass of something sparkling at the back bar). Since my last review almost 5 years ago, they sadly removed the matcha cruffin (that I still can't get out of my head!) and added in an entire display of sugary/spicy/chocolatey greatness (I'm still kicking myself for being too late on my way to the airport to get that lemon bar I'd been eying or the pumpkin BUNDT CAKE, ffs. What is wrong with me?) The sweetest owners, the loveliest staff from front counter to back bar to food runners and bussers. I adore Oh My Soul with every ounce of my being.

Person taking our order was rude. Asked what he would recommend as a side given that we'd never been to the restaurant before. He just listed off all the sides and appeared annoyed by the question. We finished our order and he then cancels the tip screen and I didn't know why. He asks if I want a receipt and I say sure. Then I notice that they have an automatic "service charge" of 15% that isn't advertised anywhere in the restaurant. I'm not necessarily against restaurants doing this but it should be advertised. Also, you should have service if you're going to charge a "service charge." Our service consisted of a counter order and then someone who eventually brought out our food. Water was never even refilled. Vibe of everyone that worked there was angry and aggravated. Multiple people scowled at me walking through the dining room from the kitchen. One worker threw open the kitchen door obviously pissed about something. Everyone in the restaurant was waiting forever for their food and other tables would have one entree come out while the other person at the table waited another 15 minutes for their food. Food was nothing special. My wife liked her Mother Earth bowl which is why I'm giving two stars. My chicken sandwich was something out of a frozen box. Hush puppies and onion rings were standard. We only had water to drink. All of this cost us $54.20 total. Anymore this feels like a standard experience in an American restaurant unless you do someplace high end. Ok food, terrible value, terrible service, and junk fees. Like they're doing you a favor just being there. All of this for a restaurant that, as the walls show, is trying to convince you to become vegan. This won't do it guys. Do better if you really care about bringing people to your cause.

Review for Waffle House After relocating to Charlotte--and…read morethe Southeast more broadly--from the San Francisco Bay Area, I've made it a point as a local foodie and someone mindful of supporting community businesses to explore regional institutions I may not have experienced before. One of those places was Waffle House, a name I had heard about but never visited until now. A colleague from Atlanta had talked about it often--especially the hash browns--and described the experience as something of a rite of passage in the South. Naturally, my curiosity got the best of me. I finally visited one location, and I have to say, I was genuinely impressed. I ordered steak and eggs with crispy hash browns and pancakes, and everything arrived exactly as requested. The steak was cooked medium rare, the eggs were perfectly done over medium, and the hash browns were beautifully crisp. The food was simple, satisfying, and well executed--classic comfort food done right. What really stood out, though, was the experience at the counter. Sitting there and watching the cook prepare meals in such a compact space for a restaurant that seats dozens of people felt like live theater. The kitchen is completely visible, and the level of coordination, timing, and organization was impressive. It honestly felt like watching a well-rehearsed symphony. The staff worked efficiently, kept everything clean and orderly, and handled the flow of orders with professionalism. I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that the food is prepared fresh--real eggs, cooked to order--and not from frozen or powdered shortcuts. That attention to basics goes a long way. Other highlights: * Friendly, attentive staff * Easy parking and convenient access * Great value for the quality and portion size * A uniquely open kitchen experience you rarely get to see I left a generous tip because the service and execution deserved it, and I walked away with a completely new appreciation for this iconic Southern institution. My earlier assumptions about Waffle House were definitely corrected. I imagine weekends can get busy, so I personally prefer visiting during quieter, off-peak hours when you can enjoy the meal and observe the rhythm of the kitchen without the rush. Bottom line: If you're new to the South or simply curious, visiting a Waffle House really is a rite of passage. Be open-minded, sit at the counter, watch the magic happen, and enjoy a solid, satisfying meal. You just might be pleasantly surprised--like I was.
