best restaurant in charlotte. Food was the best seriously.. Service was a little slow but really no complaints

Great place to grab a bite and drinks before a show at Knight Theater next door. I'm happy I finally got to check this spot out- I came across it awhile ago, when I was still in Winston-Salem. It reminded me a lot of the Katherine, so I added it to my Wish List. came on a Tuesday, made a reservation for 4 people at 5:45pm. We were seated at a round booth with one extra seat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a large, sophisticated venue with nice decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a couple cocktails for starters and then placed our entree orders. I started with the french onion soup and mussels for my main. My friends tried the chicken, duck, and beef bourguignon. I enjoyed my soup, it was warm and tasty- definitely quite heavy on the onions! For $23 though, I did expect a larger serving (not that I could have finished it, but that seams pretty steep for just a regular bowl). And the mussels were a generous portion, also served with a baguette, perfect for dipping into the leftover butter sauce. I tried my friends duck and it was very tender and tasty too. We all enjoyed our meals, although it took quite some time for the main to arrive - definitely over 25mins. Normally it wouldn't be an issue but we were just a bit pressed for time with the show. We looked at the dessert menu - a couple tempting options, will have a reason to return! Definitely upscale and pricier, but worth it for an occasion. There's 2 hour street parking and a few garages nearby. I parked in a garage because we were staying for an extended period after. @azfitfoodfun

This is a really nice upscale restaurant uptown with sucky parking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food was great and the ambiance excellent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was good. Prices about right for uptown and quality of food. I had omelette with potatoes and deviled eggs with caviar. Complementary mandolins. I will come back and highly recommend if you like a bougie experience like me!

I do not know why it had taken me so long to have lunch here when I have worked Uptown for a long time. The decor here is stunning and I found that the atmosphere was better for a lunch meeting than other restaurants I normally go to. It's quieter and less crowded because it's a more spacious. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive so I have no complaints. We were able to make it back to the office without having to rush. I had a salad and my friend had a sandwich. We also shared deviled eggs. All were delicious. Overall, I would definitely go back here for lunch and maybe even have team lunch here.

Tried La Belle Helene recently and overall it was just okay for me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is really beautiful -- definitely has that upscale French brasserie vibe and feels like a good spot for a nice dinner or date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was polite and professional, no issues there. Food was decent but didn't really wow me. I started with the French onion soup, which was solid and comforting, just not super memorable. For my entrée, I had the burger and fries. It was cooked fine and the flavors were good, but for the price and the setting, I expected something a little more impressive. Not a bad experience by any means, just didn't quite live up to the expectations. I'd probably come back for drinks or to try a different dish, but it's not at the top of my list in Charlotte.

Had a great dinner at La Belle Helene! We were a large group and they seated us in a semi private space with a window to the kitchen. The restaurant is huge but has good acoustics and a warm atmosphere. Service was quick and the servers were friendly - I am always sympathetic when I'm in a large group but they held their own. I had the duck confit for dinner and I'm SO glad I chose it. The skin was perfectly crispy and the meat was cooked to perfection. The reduction at the bottom was flavorful and the perfect amount of salty. And I'm a huge leek lover so it was my dream to eat about two cups of leeks.

Stopped here for lunch after visiting the Mint Museum and the service was absolutely amazing!! Our server, Emanuel, was so welcoming, friendly, and helpful. My friend and I were trying to decide between the chicken salad sandwich and the French onion soup and he suggested that we split both items; the kitchen plated half the sandwich and fries on each plate and gave us each a wonderful cup of soup. Wow, wonderful service! The sandwich was thick and delicious and the soup was the real thing... amazing flavor!! The restaurant itself is a treat to behold. Such a great atmosphere with lots of attention to detail. And you have to check out the unisex bathroom, too, if you go; so inviting!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I started off with a mimosa, and before the food even arrived, I was blown away by the little pallet cookies placed on the table. They tasted like sweet shortbread and were such a charming touch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a little bit of everything to share, and my absolute favorite was the Le Steak Burger cooked to perfection and incredibly flavorful. The baked oysters were also delicious, and the Banana Foster French Toast was rich, comforting, and perfectly sweet. Overall, a fantastic brunch experience. I'd happily come back again!

Food: was fine, but nothing spectacular. For the price charged I had much higher expectations and they fell short. The french onion soup is a steep $22! The croissant is $8 and you can find better at Lidl. The burger was overcooked and dry. Service: slow, food arrived in different times, order wasn't accurate. Ambience: it is nice, has that French Brasserie vibe, but definitely not brasserie prices. Very chic but doesn't match the food and service.

Went for Mother's Day brunch and had a wonderful experience! It was an all you can eat brunch buffet with service. The options for the buffet were endless - one of the largest and classiest buffets I have ever been too. Highly recommend for one of their holiday brunches or a special occasion!!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved the atmosphere, the place is just gorgeous located in the heart of uptown Charlotte and perfect for date night, a dinner with friends or for a company dinner since they have some private rooms available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was great and attentive. The food was delicious. I am taking off one star due to the size of the portions. I think they could have been a big bitter but overall it was a great experience. The gnocchi was delicious and a great vegetarian choice and you can't go wrong with a Chocolate flavored dessert! I would definitely visit again.

A beautifully decorated upscale French restaurant in the heart of uptown. This is a great spot with a wide range of traditional and modern French cuisine. Slightly pricey, but worth it. Fabulous cocktails, wine and beer to go with your meal. Whether you're celebrating, looking for a fancy date night or an afterwork dinner, la belle helene is worth checking out. I've been a few times now and each time I am continuously impressed.

This was a bustling restaurant in Charlotte, reservations highly recommended. The interior exuded a captivating French ambiance, complete with a grand bar, individual dining rooms, and mesmerizing lighting. After a brief wait, we were promptly seated and received complimentary bread and champagne to begin our meal. Both were of exceptional quality. From the extensive menu, we opted for the mussels, deviled eggs, sea bass, and salmon. Each dish was a culinary delight. The mussels were served in a delectable soup, the deviled eggs were creamy and flavorful, and both the sea bass and salmon were cooked to perfection, accompanied by an array of fresh vegetables. To conclude our meal, we indulged in the chiffon chocolate cake, which proved to be the ideal dessert to end our culinary journey. Our server was exceptionally friendly, although we encountered an error when he charged us for the cake, despite it being included in our three-course menu. The dishes arrived at a steady pace, enhancing our overall dining experience. While I was thoroughly impressed by the restaurant's interior and the quality of the food, I was left disappointed by the poor condition of my chair. Parts of the skin had peeled off, necessitating immediate replacement.

Coquette made my birthday dinner absolutely unforgettable…read more From the moment we arrived, the hosts made us feel genuinely welcome, and every interaction throughout the evening was warm, friendly, and attentive. Don't let the location fool you - despite being in the middle of bustling Uptown Charlotte, Coquette feels like a cozy, delicious escape. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between elegant and comfortable, making it the ideal place to celebrate a special occasion. Our server, Francesca, was phenomenal. She was knowledgeable, personable, and somehow always there exactly when we needed her without ever making us feel rushed. To help celebrate my birthday, she surprised us with a complimentary glass of champagne for a toast - a thoughtful touch that made an already special evening even more memorable. We started with the charcuterie board and the foie gras crostini, and both were incredible. The charcuterie was beautifully curated with delicious cheeses, prosciutto, olives, cornichons, and thoughtful accompaniments. The foie gras was rich, buttery, and perfectly paired with caramelized onions on crisp crostini. My Black Rose cocktail was one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. The combination of gin, thyme, blackberry, and botanicals was perfectly balanced - complex, flavorful, and refreshingly not overly sweet. We also enjoyed a bottle of Bezel Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles by the Cakebread family, and wow... what a fantastic wine. It paired beautifully with dinner. For our entrées, Shane had the perfectly cooked duck confit, served over a pesto of summer squash and eggplant that complemented the duck beautifully. He also enjoyed a side of garlic butter mushrooms... all by himself, because mushrooms and I have a lifelong disagreement. I had the lamb frites with eggplant caviar and eggplant fries - absolutely phenomenal. Everything was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. And yes... I actually ate a vegetable. Of course, we couldn't pass up dessert (we had to finish the wine, after all ). Shane ordered the apple tarte Tatin, which was absolutely fabulous. The apples were exactly what they should be - the star of the dish - and somehow made the buttery pastry feel almost guilt-free. I had the chocolate pot de crème... Magic. Rich, silky, decadent, and the perfect ending to an incredible birthday dinner. From the food and cocktails to the wine, service, and atmosphere, Coquette exceeded every expectation. Thank you, Francesca, and the entire Coquette team for making my birthday so special. We will absolutely be back.

Good cocktails, and an excellent wine menu rounded out the visit. While we haven't tried many places in Charlotte, I feel confident it saying this is the best restaurant in the city.

The food: we were served salads and focaccia to start. The side salad was nice, and I enjoyed the creamy vinaigrette and fresh vegetables. The focaccia was warm and beautifully salted. We were also given cheese platters, and I enjoyed the addition of honeycomb on the platter. I opted for the filet mignon, medium rare, with polenta and roasted carrots. The filet was served medium well, and even with the Stilton crust it was flavorless and desperately needed some salt. The thyme polenta was also missing the thyme, and even more desperately needed salt and just any sort of flavor. An unflavored polenta can taste like boiled water and I found that to be the case with theirs. The carrots tasted lovely with the Madeira Demi glace, but were unfortunately raw. I opted for the banana cheesecake for dessert, and while it wasn't my favorite, I think it was executed nicely. I also tried someone else's coffee ice cream which they pair with beignets, and thoroughly enjoyed that. All in all, a disappointing food experience. For a $62 steak, they missed the mark.
