This is my favorite restaurant in Charlotte. It is truly my happy place. Food and service is phenomenal. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, as well. Jim, the owner, is such a kind, loving person. The Stuffed Quail was an absolute standout--the bacon-wrapped quail stuffed with risotto and sausage was incredibly flavorful, and the pistachio pesto tied everything together perfectly. The Stuffed Shrimp Provençal was another favorite, with generous lump crab stuffing, perfectly cooked shrimp, delicious roasted fingerling potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and a rich sun-dried tomato beurre blanc. The Maine Crab Cake was packed with fresh crab and paired beautifully with the Israeli couscous, preserved lemon, artichokes, and fresh basil dressing. We also enjoyed the Australian Lamb Chops, which were tender, perfectly cooked, and complemented by the wild mushroom risotto, grilled asparagus, and rich Bordelaise sauce. Took my dad for his 83rd birthday. Neither of us had been before so it was a nice treat for us to try something new. He got the salmon and I got the lamb chops. Bother were absolutely delish. Last night I had one of the most sexiest dinners of the year so far. Every course and wine pairing was amazing. The staff was extremely knowledgeable on the wines we had and the food was some of the best that I have had in Charlotte. While we were there in the main room you could hear the 3 piece band playing a jazzy mix of music. The owner named the restaurant after his wife which I thought was a beautiful living love letter. My husband and I went here for dinner on a Friday evening, and our service was the best part. The ambiance is nice, and the food was good. My husband really enjoyed his ribeye, and the sole fish was VERY good. My husband said he also really enjoyed his lobster bisque. I wasn't able to eat the crab cake but I am also pregnant so that could have been my hormones at the time. We had another engagement so we weren't able to stay for dessert but otherwise we would have. My husband and I recently returned here to celebrate our 8 year wedding anniversary. This was our second time back in 8 years. We had our rehearsal dinner here when the restaurant was still on the 27th floor of a building in uptown. I thought the food was good but not as enjoyable as I remembered; however, I do highly recommend the oysters bentley (creamed spinach, parmesean and panko) as an app. The oysters are delicious and honestly the most flavorful thing we ate. 5 stars on those for sure. I also ordered a caesar salad and my husband had lobster bisque. I'd rate both of these a 3 out of 5. For my entree, I ordered the 8 oz filet which came with fingerling potatoes, wild mushrooms and artichokes. The filet was cooked to the right temperature but I felt it was a little lacking in flavor, and while the mushrooms were decent, I just wish there was more variety in the side dishes and accompaniment options. My husband had the lamb chops and said they were good but he wasn't raving about them. The mushroom risotto that came with it was flavorful, and I enjoyed a few bites of it. We ordered one of their cheaper bottles of wine which was still $60. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny. We considered taking our own but they have a $50 corking fee so... eek. We didn't order dessert but they did bring us a complimentary eclair for our anniversary that was okay at best. I won't complain much about that since it was complimentary after all, and who am I to turn down a free dessert? The service was okay but I didn't necessarily feel like a valued guest. Our server kept our wine glasses filled up so points for that, I guess. We noticed the owner making rounds and chatting it up with what appeared to be a few "regulars" or people who "looked like him." I kept wondering if he might ever stop by our table. He walked by and acknowledged us with a bit of a head nod but I didn't really feel like he cared. I miss the old Bentleys when it was uptown with it's breathtaking views of the city. The food and service seemed better then too. This place will always hold a special place in our hearts since it's where we had our rehearsal dinner but I feel there are other "fancy" restaurants in Charlotte at similar price points that have more flavorful options and better service. read more

Our first visit to Bentley's. We went for NYE, normally not a fan menu of prefixed menus. But Bentleys was definitely an exception. Wonderful meal, great ambiance. A nice size restaurant, you never feel crowded. We can not wait to go back. Two minor items; 1) never received our bread, 2) they didn't clean the tables after people left ( I understand if you don't need the table but having a couple of dirty tables around you has an impact on the ambiance. Bread we didn't miss but the tables at a restaurant of this caliber should always be clean. Hopefully we will score a 5 next time! read more

This place has been on my bucket list for awhile, so I finally made Open Table RSVP...and slid right into a comfy seating/table around 6 pm. As expected, the place itself was nice...though a tad too classic and conservative in style. Must add that I wasn't too impressed with their overhead music. Just all over the place...from New Orleans jazz, to standard rock to ?!? Eclectic, I guess...but I would have preferred a more steady stream of music...something more upscaled. ANYWAY, on to the more important part of the review...the FOOD!! I came with high expectations...and I'm happy to say that those expectations were met! For starters, we ordered the Lobster Bisque soup. For the entree, my husband chose Stuffed Shrimp Provencal...and I opted to go with 2 small plates, Maine Crab Cake (with Couscous!) and Calamari Steak. Then, we finished off the meal by sharing a Creme Brulee, probably a dessert that my husband and I both love equally. All I can say is that everything we ordered were all EXCELLENT! Actually, THE only thing that was kind of disappointing was their hard, crusty house bread (though complimentary...so thanks anyway!)...but their butter was AMAZING (Peach flavored?). As for my favorite item of the night, it has to be the Maine Crab Cake. Not only delicious, it was so beautifully presented ...so Check-Plus for that! It was such a photogenic plate, I Instagrammed it right away as well lol. As for drinks, I forgot what my husband ordered, but I got their Blueberry Smash cocktail...and it was really good, though not too strong. Service was also good...no issues there. I was impressed to see that all staff members were still wearing masks. Not sure why, but I expected a more formal restaurant, with hyper-attentive service...but everything felt fairly casual. Honestly, I can't decide if I liked the foods better here or at Steak 48, but both my husband and I thought they were comparable...equally Excellent! One of the top restaurants in Charlotte, and for sure the top French restaurant for classic dishes, table side presentations, and a great bar/wine list. Favorite appetizers are the steak tartare, escargot, stuffed quail, and Caesar salad with grilled chicken and white anchovy. Entrees get the Elk Chop, Steak Au Poivre, and Lobster Tropicana. Staff is always very friendly, and excited to have you dine with them. Honestly so much is good here, I always find my way back regularly. For sure put this at top of your list. read more

Bentley's is a great restaurant all around, you can have a casual meal at the bar or you can blow it out, expense account and show someone a great time. What I really like about Bentley's, it has a very upscale feel without being stuffy, everyone is very friendly. The owners are actually in the restaurant and their children work there. You know how restaurants have a whole different vibe when the owners are present. I was shocked, I really thought that it was corporately owned. I guess that what gives it the southern hospitality feel. The food is phenomenal. Bentley's offers caviar service, fresh oysters from select purveyors, fresh seafood flown in from Hawaii and hand cut steaks. It isn't just a meal, it is an experience. Table side Chateaubriand for two and table side desserts are such a fun experience. This is one of the best restaurants in Charlotte. read more

My husband and I went to Bentleys last evening for our 10th wedding anniversary. We had not been there since it was Bentleys on 27 uptown in 2018. It's very nice. The ambiance and quiet to talk was great. Albeit, a Monday evening. We immediately were treated by our server, to make sure we had drinks and got those ordered. By then, a woman brought us each out a warm roll. My husband ordered the oysters on the 1/2 shell as an appetizer and said they were very tasty. For dinner, not being a seafood person, I ordered the 8 oz filet with fingerling potatoes and roasted mixed carrots. It was cooked perfectly to medium rare, as asked for, and was great tasting. My husband ordered the stuffed lobster. He really enjoyed it and said he would definitely do it again. I have to say, I took a bite and it was good! (Remember, I don't care for seafood ) For dessert, they brought us a nice plater for our anniversary. It had a sorbet, a few blackberries and blueberries, sliced strawberry and a to die for cheesecake! It was so soft and creamy! I wish I had taken more pics of the rest of the food. I will next time, as we will be going back around Christmas. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice meal. read more

Service was excellent 5/5. Both of our servers were friendly, helpful, and on top of things. The hostess was a little meek and awkward, but that's not a big deal. The ambiance was confusing 3/5. I think dimmer lighting and better table arrangement would give it a sleeker vibe. I couldn't get over the feeling of sitting in a large banquet hall. The food was good but there were some misses 3.5/5. The oysters were great, the escargot was good but I would try something different next time. The shrimp cocktail was over cooked and I didn't like the presentation on the plate. The steak au poivre had a perfect sauce and all the sides made it a generous meal. The only thing I would change about that is to offer it with thick cut regular fries instead of the thin truffle fries. I loved that they had desserts they flambéed at the table. The bananas foster was nice but would've been better if the bananas were carmelized more. Overall, I would recommend Bentley's and would return. read more

Starry-eyed and amazed? I mean we've been married 40 years, so yes, all these emotions are still true (my wife is the most fantastic woman, for sure). On our anniversary we usually dust off the wallet and do something expensive as well as go someplace new to us. OK, Bentley's on 27th, your turn. We ordered both the Escargot Bourguignon and Oyster's Bentley as our appetizers. Pow! We're off and running with developed flavors, perfect presentation, and culinary excellence. The main course I ordered the Bourbon Flavored Mignon, a classic they light on fire for all to ooh and aah. I was entertained, and the steak was cooked perfectly, as one expects. Lori chose the Lobster Louis-Pernod, with pumpkin sage ravioli, roasted pine nuts, and their lobster Pernod sauce. Of course, it also has its own little show table side, too. When our meal was over, we voted, and the cow beat the lobster by a nose; fun was had by all. Really, really, good. Our servers, Dawn and Jordan, were simply spectacular. Nothing went unnoticed and unattended. Yet, happily they managed to keep their distance and let us love birds celebrate privately our good fortune and God's blessings. My friends and I came here on a Thursday night. I haven't been to Bentley's since my prom night over a decade ago at their original location uptown. I was pretty stoked to hear they were reopening in the Southpark area. I hated parking uptown, which is why I never went back. Parking is easy here, they have a deck right behind the restaurant. The interior is absolutely beautiful. It is very romantic and a great place for a date. I ordered the escargot and scallops for dinner. They were both incredible! I was expecting each to be small portions but I ended up having to take my scallops home and it was still delicious the next day. The pricing is really good for the amount of food you get, which was such a wonderful surprise. We had a great server, I don't remember his name, but he was so fun! Humorous and silly. I've wanted to try the new Bentley's all year and was super thrilled they were taking reservations for my boyfriend's birthday. Hostess I was able to book through their website after researching on Yelp. The others' reviews were outstanding, and I was personally excited about the new upgrades Bentley's done. Walking into the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by the host, and she guided us to our reserved seating. They asked to take my coat for a compliments coat check. Food After reviewing the menu, we decided to start with drinks and an appetizer. We chose the mussels, and oh my gosh, they were fantastic. The grilled bread and the garlic butter sauce, I seriously could have eaten that solo. We ordered dinner, and I finally decided on the ribeye, and he chose the veal chop. These cuts were ginormous, more than we both imagined. The former Bentley's had tiny portions, so I'm very grateful they increased their portions with the new upgrade. Drinks I love Old Fashions, and their old fashion was on point! Highly suggest and a bottle of champagne. Server We had the BEST server. I forgot his name, but never will I forget his hospitality. He always checked in with us and made sure we had everything we needed. He complimented us on our date night and wished my boyfriend a happy birthday. He then brought out a complimentary Creme Brûlée and wished him a happy birthday. I thought that was incredibly sweet and thoughtful. Went for a valentines date and the atmosphere was lovely, the service was great and the food was wonderful. However, If you're looking for a more romantic vibe, this is probably not the place since its very spacious, tables are quite large and it's lit brightly which is great in general for bigger parties or family dinners. Initially, we were seated in a booth right next to another couple which was not 6feet distancing but they were kind enough to seat us elsewhere upon request immediately. Waiters and manager were all masked. Drinks & food wise, The old fashioned was strong and the food was quite delicious. The escargot as an appetizer was perfection of creaminess so highly recommend that whether your a fan or not of this dish- it's quite mind blowing. The lamb chops were quite juicy as well as the filet mignon and the pommes frites was perfectly seasoned. It's just ok. Scratch that. It's less than ok. For the prices they are charging, it should be really really good and it just isn't. The lamb was really tough and overcooked. I'm not sure how it got from Australia to US but I think it may have walked (or swam). The lobster was was way overcooked and was like rubber. Fine dining does batter than that. The ambiance is not intimate at all, feels more like a banquet hall. There are many other restaurants in the area with better food and less expensive. Also, why call this a 'French' restaurant? I will start the review by saying the food was delicious. However the service was poor. No one came to check on our table to see if we wanted refills on our drinks or to ask how we liked our food. My husband and I came to celebrate my birthday and were really excited. The service we received ruined our experience. The waiter came after we sat for 30 minutes and dropped off a desert that I was allergic to. We had to wait another 20 minutes for him to come back and he never asked why we didn't eat the desert. Didn't apologize for the service and did not offer anything off the bill. We spoke with the manager and he offered a chocolate martini for our experience but we don't drink.
