Finally made our way to Santé and it was a very good experience. It was the service that made it exceptional. The food was good but it wasn't the wow we were hoping for. The restaurant itself is small, make a reservation if you want to go! It's a bit outdated but maybe that works for them. They make all the desserts in house and present a large tray of the options at the end, they have many dessert choices which was very nice rather than the normal two or three.

Since I travel very frequently on business I always rely on Yelp reviews. This little gem popped up and turned out to be absolutely charming. You are sure to enjoy the quaint ambiance of a French bistro. I was very pleased to have such gregarious service with Dara. It was a very hard decision to make as their menu is quite diverse with many delicious entrees. Having traveled all day I needed substance and selected the shrimp tagliatelle . Great choice! No doubt I will be back on my next trip.

Service is superb & overall food is appetizing. Pan seared chicken with mashed potatoes was my favorite . Trout could've used a tad bit more seasoning.

This is our second time here - very good. The service at this place is outstanding - they do an excellent job of suggesting things and talking with you. Lawrence was outstanding. We had a filet and the swordfish special with risotto - all of it was cooked perfectly.

Wednesday night I went to Sante in downtown Matthews with one of my besties. It's a French inspired restaurant that is cute, quaint and just full of character ‍ I had the pan seared farms chicken with garlic mash. I also got a side of truffle mac and cheese. No joke this was the best meal I have had thus far in Charlotte. Our waiter was quirky and really made our night enjoyable. I've been going to a lot of restaurants in the city so it was nice to eat somewhere outside the city and support a small local business

This place is awesome! Great service, wonderful ambiance and exquisite food entrees. Wines were very good too! Plenty of bourbon and spirits. Desserts were so gooooood! Would recommend highly. Reservations required. I ordered the sea scallops with Israeli couscous. Delicious!

Venison with sweet potatoes and a blackberry demi glaze 10/10

LOVED. 5/5. 10/10. However you want to put it, it was just fantastic. Beautifully decorated for the Holidays, Sante provides the perfect intimate setting for a date night or special occasion. Our dating anniversary just so happens to be right around Christmas so what a perfect time to try this cozy little family owned spot in the cute downtown Matthews. You definitely need reservations because it is small inside. Everything is made from scratch using local seasonal ingredients and most of it comes from the Matthew's Farmers Market across the street! Fresh bread is delivered to your table along with dipping oil that was splendid. The features included she crab soup, French onion soup, and a venison dish which you don't see offered in restaurants very often. The venison was perfectly cooked and we were blown away by how TENDER it was! I ordered the CAB filet which was good, I just wish there was more of the gorgonzola butter on top to have more in each bite. Everything from the intimate setting, to the wait staff, to the delicious food and interesting wine, was truly fantastic! I looked at my husband and said - we have to come back here.

Not having to deal with parking, traffic, or circling for a space is a luxury -- and being able to walk off dinner and dessert afterward might be the best part of all. I'm a total Francophile when it comes to French cuisine. From seafood towers to escargot, tartare, pâté, bone marrow, and soufflés -- you name it, I'm all in. And this restaurant does not disappoint. My very first visit was just for pastries, and I was blown away by how beautiful the restaurant is. It truly gives off all the vibes of Paris. If you haven't been, put it on your list -- and plan to eat your way through the city. This place captures that spirit beautifully right here in Charlotte. I've been here several times now and realized I failed to write a review earlier, so this is me catching up. I've worked my way through a good portion of the menu, and there are some clear standouts: * The Brussels (lardon) salad is outstanding -- rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced * The escargot in puff pastry is decadent and absolutely delicious * The mussels are consistently exquisite * The charcuterie and pâté selections are ideal for sharing * And the chicken confit -- oh my goodness -- sprinkled with flaky sea salt, shatteringly crisp on the outside, incredibly succulent on the inside. It's truly to die for. Don't be surprised if guests at the table start fighting over the last piece. One thing I especially appreciate is the value, even though the menu can appear pricey at first glance. This is a restaurant that really shines when you dine with a group. Sharing dishes family-style allows everyone to experience more of the menu without being stuck with just one entrée -- and without leaving with a mountain of leftovers. There's no fee for splitting dishes, and the staff are more than happy to accommodate sharing, which makes the experience feel welcoming and relaxed. That's exactly how I love to dine -- passing plates, tasting everything, and enjoying the meal together. The cocktail program is strong, and they have a full bar, plus an impressive dessert and espresso selection. The patisserie in the morning is a gem, and having a dedicated pastry chef really shows in the quality of the desserts. Favorites so far: * Apple Tarte Tatin * Crème brûlée * Canelés * And their birthday presentation -- a small plate with a candle -- is a lovely touch that makes celebrations feel special The restaurant itself is gorgeous, the waitstaff are knowledgeable and professional, and the service has been consistently excellent. I also appreciate the large outdoor patio -- I love dining al fresco, and the atmosphere here makes it easy to linger. Bottom line: This is one of my favorite restaurants in Charlotte. It's consistent, beautiful, and delivers a true French dining experience without pretense. Knock on wood, I've never had a bad meal here. Be curious about food. Get out there and eat your way through Charlotte. Explore it. Bon appétit.

The food: we were served salads and focaccia to start. The side salad was nice, and I enjoyed the creamy vinaigrette and fresh vegetables. The focaccia was warm and beautifully salted. We were also given cheese platters, and I enjoyed the addition of honeycomb on the platter. I opted for the filet mignon, medium rare, with polenta and roasted carrots. The filet was served medium well, and even with the Stilton crust it was flavorless and desperately needed some salt. The thyme polenta was also missing the thyme, and even more desperately needed salt and just any sort of flavor. An unflavored polenta can taste like boiled water and I found that to be the case with theirs. The carrots tasted lovely with the Madeira Demi glace, but were unfortunately raw. I opted for the banana cheesecake for dessert, and while it wasn't my favorite, I think it was executed nicely. I also tried someone else's coffee ice cream which they pair with beignets, and thoroughly enjoyed that. All in all, a disappointing food experience. For a $62 steak, they missed the mark.

Welcome to the next installment of the quarterly bonus dinner series. After receiving excellent…read morerecommendations from the renowned Meena P, my group decided to switch it up and venture to Winston-Salem for dinner. OpenTable made dinner reservations a breeze as we were easily able to snag a table for 6 at 7:30pm a week in advance. With The Katharine being downtown, parking can sometimes be a challenge. The menfolk were gentlemanly enough to drop the ladies off at the door and park the car themselves. After our group was fully assembled, we were seated promptly. I'm not drinking at the moment, so I sadly wasn't able to partake in the craft cocktails The Katharine is known for. However, I did enjoy an alcohol alternative, Evergreen N/A (seedlip, thyme lavender syrup, lemon juice, soda water). It was a nice, light, citrusy beverage. We also shared some appetizers together. We ordered the Oeuf Mimosa (deviled egg, caviar, microgreens), Escargot á la Bourguogne (garlic herb butter, cognac, red wine reduction, puff pastry), Roquette Salade (baby arugula, baby kale, shaved parmesan, toasted pine nuts, lemon vinaigrette, balsamic reduction, cracked pepper), and Gratinèe Soupe à l'Oignon (croute, aged gruyere, chive). The deviled eggs were delicious as expected, which was no surprise, as they are known for them. I would have liked to know that the order only came with 4 egg halves since we had a group of 6. We would've ordered two if we had known, since they're not the easiest things to split. It was also funny to see the table "fighting" over eating every last pine nut on the salad plate. For our entrees, everyone at the table tried to order something different from the menu so we could fully experience it. We were mostly successful, as the only repeat was the Boeuf Bourguignon (braised beef short rib, cipollini onion, wild mushroom, brussels sprout leaves, pomme puree, red wine sauce). The Bourguignon had a nice sweetness to the sauce that balanced the dish's saltiness. I ordered the Saumon et Gruau de Mais (seared salmon, stone ground grits, smoked garlic buttermilk sauce, black lemon, chervil, chili oil). The salmon crust was so flavorful and well seasoned, and the grits were voted the best side by the table for being nice and creamy without being too heavy. Other entrees that were ordered included Truite Meuniere (North Carolina trout, haricot verts, parsnips, chili-almond crunch, brown butter, lemon), Steak Frites (8 oz Brasstown Farms flat iron steak, truffled parmesan pomme frites, beurre de fete), and Steak au Poivre (12 oz pepper crusted NY strip steak, sauce au poivre, pomme puree, brussels sprouts). Both of the steaks were cooked beautifully. Playing musical chairs with each other's food was probably my favorite part of the night. I highly recommend doing this with your friends! Last but certainly not least, we decided to share some desserts to round out the evening. We ordered the Bittersweet Chocolate Pot de Crème (dark chocolate, torched marshmallow meringue, toasted graham crumb, chocolate ganache), Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee (organic Tahitian vanilla bean custard with burnt sugar), and Banana Pain Perdu (croissant bread pudding, caramelized banana, vanilla bean ice cream, banana chips, salted rum caramel). All of the desserts were stunning, and the banana bread pudding was my personal favorite. The rest of the table was fighting over the pot de crème. The Katharine was spectacular and delivered on everything I hoped for in a nice dinner with good friends. I definitely recommend checking it out!

We had dinner reservations at 8:30 our evening there, our host greeted us and seated us within a couple minutes the place was packed. The interior of the restaurant is 1930s art deco, think "Metropolis" and inspired by the original design of the building. The restaurant itself is not very big and gets busy, when full it is also loud. Dinner was very good, the service professional and attentive. The food was good but not exceptional and at the price point, it should be. A dozen oysters on the half shell, were a good start. My entree was good, however very basic in thought and presentation. Trout, nicely cooked with green beans on top, then shaved carrots. Nothing new or original. The Salmon my partner ordered was even simpler in its presentation. Again nothing inventive or original. The food was good but at the price point one expects it to be great. Breakfast, is walk in service, it is as well busy or was on the two mornings we ate there. A different experience overall, more rushed and noisy. The food was okay, but nothing special or beyond ordinary. When breakfast is $30 bucks or more each it needs to be great, this was okay to average. Then with the slow turn around on our order from the kitchen, almost half an hour to get eggs, sort of a let down. The second morning was better as far as timing goes, the food was again okay but nothing special. 3.5 Stars rounded up for the dinner service staff's effort 01132
