Stopped by for brunch, got seated quickly but waited about 30mins to get drinks and over an hour on food. It looked like they were short staffed, and my food wasn't hot when it came out. Didn't care for the food and how big the wings were. On the bright side, the server was nice and we got a discount on parking. The restaurant has a fun look to it too. My friend enjoyed the grits and eggs.

I had the pleasure of dining at Uptown Yolk in Midtown Charlotte, NC. This is a very popular restaurant that was booked and busy from the time we arrived until we left! It is black owned and quite a gem! Modern decode, with very large windows. You can watch people walking to the entrance hoping to get a seat ( I would definitely suggest making reservations)!! It was a great experience and the food was delicious. The ONLY reason I gave it three stars is because we waited 45 minutes to get our food. My friend who invited me assured me that this never happens and that the kitchen was probably understaffed . They also had several large parties with 8 or more people which most likely added to the delay. The server was very nice and she kept checking on us and updated us as she could. The party sitting next to us waited nearly an hour for their food and the manager came out to speak to them and apologized. I will give them another chance the Next time I come to visit Charlotte and I believe that they will receive five stars from me! To the owner: You all should consider opening a restaurant in Greenville SC!! I think it will do very well!!

Make sure you have a reservation because this spot stays busy for a reason. We booked ahead and were seated outside, which I actually loved since I enjoy the heat. Service was quick and we didn't have to wait long to be seated or for our food. Everything was delicious, but the French toast was definitely the highlight. The drinks were really good too, even though I forgot to get a picture. I also loved the inside, it has a really nice vibe. Would definitely go back.

Cornmeal Pecan Waffle

an open atmosphere perfect for families, couples, or solo diners! My custom omelette with Canadian bacon, mushrooms, and peppers arrived piping hot and paired perfectly with a side of their creamy grits. Pro-tip: If you love a unique crunch, go for the cornmeal waffle with the pecans baked right into the batter. While I personally realized I prefer my pecans drizzled on top, the quality and service was great. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to test out even more from their southern inspired menu and great service.

I thought this place was really cool with interesting decor. We got a few options and I would say it was delicious overall. The shrimp and grits and valley of the sun dishes were SO GOOD! I liked that the yogurt dish with the grapefruit wasn't super sweet. The only thing I would say was that the hostess wasn't at the stand for the first 10 mins we were there and servers and bartenders walked past the stand multiple times without acknowledging us. The sausage patty was just a hamburger and it dried up pretty quickly.

I thought this was a great experience although I went at 9 AM and no one was really there. The service was great. The food was super tasty. The only thing I didn't like was it was à la carte almost instead of just meals with side dishes, but it wasn't too expensive and I also enjoyed the music that was a whole vibe. I was jamming the whole time but definitely a great experience and it's super cute in there.

Do NOT walK.....RUN to support this establishment!!! The food is AMAZING!!!! The vibes are AMAZING!!! Plan to wait bc they are packed and do not seem to have adequately staffing but the wait is worth it. The chicken is some of the best that I've EVER had!!! The egg yolkwich sandwich was great as well!!! I'd revisit without second thought!!! If I had to complain about anything it would be the wait but it wasn't terrible!

Fantastic brunch spot. I got the There's Fire and it was extremely good. A nice little spot that's in South End and even on a holiday, the service was still quick and we were in and out within an hour at the bar. Would highly recommend

First time visiting. I've wanted to go for quite some time but I've heard it's hard getting seated during the weekends so a week day was perfect. The place is amazingly decorated and the vibe is nice. We were immediately seated and offered a menu. I am so glad i asked the server for her recommendation - grits or potatoes. She suggested rhe potatoes. I have to tell you that those are the BEST breakfast potatoes I have ever had! Fried in a peanut oil and perfectly seasoned. I could go back just for those! I will definitely be back.

I came on a saturday afternoon and sat at the bar. Food - i ordered the WWIII - chicken and waffles - you can do 3 wings or 1 thigh . The fried chicken has an interesting taste, don't think your typical fried chicken. I can't place the seasoning right now but definitely not salty. wale was moist and tasty. 9/10 - prepared great! I also had a side of grits, not my favorite. i ordered the curious george, a whiskey drink. it reminds me of a mule with whiskey. Location has a garage for easy parking and they validate tickets. Service was friendly, took about 10 mins to get my drink. Ambiance is bright and pleasant. Nice brunch spot, nice music playing in the background as well.

Made reservations online. Quick and easy. Paid parking in the area #ParkMobile Let's get into the food. It was absolutely, mouth watering, delicious. The shrimp and grits did not disappoint and was worth $23.00. Slightly spicy and I loved everything single bite. One of my best meal choices I've made in a long time. My girlfriend ordered the eggs, bacon, toast with a side of grits. The grits is sooo creamy. I just want eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The service was decent. Kim made good recommendations. We were immediately seated when we arrived. The music was amazing for a Saturday. There was a slight wait for the drinks. Curious George was mediocre but the margaritas was the wave. Great spot to catch up with friends.

Sweet Potato Waffle

The location and the bright fun vibrant space is definitely inviting for brunch. Service is decent. Limited indoor seating and a few tables outside for dining. The food left me on the blah meter. Tried the Chicken & Sweet Potato Waffle with a side of scrambled cheese eggs and bacon. Also ordered the Shrimp and Grits with a side of pancakes. Both the waffle and pancakes have a corn mealie background texture. Definitely not my preference when looking for fluffy light breakfast cakes. The chicken was good and fresh. It was seasoned with an Adobo style seasoning which can get tiresome while eating. The best items for me were the eggs and bacon. They take reservations which are recommended if you're going during peak times due to limited spacing. Also will need to search for parking due to no business parking lot.

The food was delicious. I love home cook southern food. The serve staff were very attentive and helpful. I love the colors. They were warm and earthly. There were many colors but non over powered the other. Loved it. And as we sat there the place started to get busy. Perfect time for us to depart.

Several excellent local restaurants, too. So I had high hopes today for Pollo Campero. PC was clean when I arrived at 12:30. Quite busy with about a third of the tables in use and the remaining were clear of dirty dishes. Surprising because they don't have a trash can that I could see - the staff bus and clean tables, clearing them swiftly. I ordered a three piece at the counter and it didn't take long until a running found my tent card and I was able to start. The chicken was thoroughly cooked, still moist. Not much for flavor in the skin today, it needed some hot sauce to bring out the taste. The cole slaw was creamy and crisp. Still good but also a little bland. The small dinner roll wrapped in plastic was fresh and fluffy. Overall, it's a nice little fast food spot. Which we learned from the hostess saying she's just seating whoever is next and there's no longer a list. Interesting. Is this a new practice? What compounded the issue is multiple entry points and no order to who arrived when to determine who's next. After a while we were seated in an area that provided a view of every screen so we could finish watching some games. After a short wait our server took our orders for apps and drinks. A short while later she took our orders. Our food arrived after a little wait. Not much to say. It's typical fair for this chain restaurant. The only reason I'm giving four stars was our server. Shawanda was great! She was responsible for a lot of tables and she seemed to perform her duties flawlessly, efficiently, and always smiled. She looked like she was working with purpose and gave the impression she enjoyed it. She deserves employee recognition.

When we pulled up, there was a police outside, which didn't bother us. If anything, it made things feel more secure. They also use a metal detector when you walk in before being seated. Don't let that scare you off though -- this place is a well-oiled machine and everything felt organized and under control. Our server was fantastic: calm, attentive, and never pushy. I ordered the country fried steak with collards and mashed potatoes with gravy, and my husband got a burger. My meal was excellent, and it came with a perfectly flaky biscuit. The tea was Southern SWEET tea, too. My husband said his burger was good for a diner, fresh vegetables and the fries were seasoned well. The diner itself is adorable, full of character and charm. Review for Midnight Diner…read more classic, retro-style diner--the kind with a counter, cozy booths, and a nostalgic vibe. The only thing missing is a waitress calling you "hon," and honestly, that might be part of the charm. I was craving a West Coast favorite--chicken fried steak--which I quickly learned is called country fried steak here in the South. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner... it didn't matter. I wanted comfort food, and this place delivered. I ordered takeout and picked it up without any hassle. They have their own private parking lot, which is a huge plus, especially for an Uptown location. It's situated right across from the Hyatt Regency and along the light rail, so I can imagine it gets very busy--particularly if you're heading to or leaving the Spectrum Center. This is exactly the kind of spot where you grab a solid meal to soak up whatever you've been celebrating. And the food? Generous. Very generous. My order included: * Country fried steak with gravy * Mashed potatoes * Pancakes * And, because curiosity got the best of me, their coconut French toast That coconut French toast was the wildcard--and it did not disappoint. Sweet, indulgent, and definitely a treat. Between that and the rest of the meal, it was a lot of food, but I was very happy. The price point is reasonable, the service was fast, and the whole experience felt easy and reliable--exactly what you want from a diner. Next time, I'd like to sit inside and enjoy the full experience, because the atmosphere looks like part of the fun. As someone still exploring Charlotte as a foodie after relocating from the West Coast, it's always nice to find places that deliver those nostalgic comfort-food moments--and this one absolutely did. Bottom line: Great comfort food, generous portions, easy parking, and a classic diner vibe. A solid go-to spot in Uptown, especially when you're hungry and want something satisfying.
