Fruity Pebbles

Holy. Waffles. I've been watching this truck for a while now. They came to down to my neck of the woods today in the neighborhood next to mine, so we finally tried them. Right now they have all their ordering and payment online because of Covid-19. We got there a few minutes early so our waffle wasn't quite ready. They texted us a couple of minutes later when it was ready. We got a Take 5 (with white chocolate instead of milk chocolate) and a Fruity Pebbles. They were amazing. I preferred the Take 5 but that's just because I love peanut butter/caramel. My only complaint about these waffles was that I wanted more. I was so sad when they were gone! If you see this truck, try them out! If you don't seem them, stalk them and find them.

I was impressed with Holy City Waffles. Somehow, they are able to cover their waffles in sauces and toppings while keeping the waffle crunchy! I was blown away. I thought for sure they would be soggy. I liked both the take 5 and the fruity pebbles waffle. Find a waffle that interests you and you'll be happy.

Waffles are 5 stars!!! So there is a "Food Truck Fridays" every Friday in the South Blvd area. A friend told me she was going there after work so I decided to meet her there. I walked around and came across this truck; all it took was for me to walk pass one person that ordered a waffle and I said I had to try that! Let me tell you, I was NOT DISAPPOINTED WHATSOEVER!! This waffle is soo GOOD!!! I ordered the strawberry and Nutella waffle. The waffle itself caught my attention because it was on an ice cream stick and as weird as I thought that was at first - it worked and actually added appeal to the waffle presentation! Once I took that first bite!!? It was over! The waffle was perfectly made and totally satisfying to my tastebuds! It was to the point where I had no intentions of coming to this food truck event but then I thought about the opportunity to have another waffle?? I had to go! Overall, AMAZING WAFFLES! I have only tried the strawberry and Nutella- but it was very much worth it!!!

These dessert waffles are worth the wait. Their menu is quite unique and you are able to customize your order as needed. The person that helped us with our order was very nice and attentive.

Little bit of a novelty try. I'm a big fan of waffles and pancakes, so I thought I'd give this a try. Usually I can throw back some waffles, so I got their loaded special, but it is sort of a small snack for the price of a combo meal. I mean it's pretty, but not very filling. Generally, I like a crispy waffle that can hold topping, but they were slinging them out fast so that's probably why it was a bit soft. I do understand the niche they're filling for festivals though; I get it. They do make very Instagram ready photos.

DEE. LISH. ISHHHHH. It's a nice lil treat for about ~$5. With my white chocolate, cinnamon sugar, and coconut toppings, I made my own little piece of heaven in my mouth. This would be the PERFECT place to take friends for dessert too!!!

Yummy waffles on a stick! Another great idea for a food truck. You can make your own, choose either buttermilk or chocolate chip waffle at first. Then you can choose various toppings and syrups to add on. All at a small price. Or check out their specials, which today included: waffle with sausage gravy, or maple bourbon bacon, or cinnamon roll. These were made to order so a little wait, but they were so delicious to eat. My favorite was the maple bourbon bacon. Look for Holy City waffles and eat them up!

Cookie dough and pretzels.

Holy city waffles stopped by in our neighborhood during quarantine. They had a great online ordering system where you could order ahead and pick up at a certain time. My husband and I ordered the take5 and s'mores waffle along with the edible cookie dough and pretzels. I preferred the s'more's over the take5, but both were so delicious. Unfortunately we waited till we got home to eat the waffles, but next time we must eat it the second we get it fresh! To be honest, I preferred the cookie dough dip over the waffles. I was also very surprised on how good the cookie dough tasted by being eggless. Very good! Next time I go here I really hope they have a cookie dough waffle - that would be a win-win!

I ended up at Resident Culture following my favorite vegan food truck, and low and behold this new kid on the block was there also! They relocated to the QC from Charleston, SC and being a lover of homemade waffles, I couldn't be happier about their move. They offer dessert waffles with many toppings to choose from (strawberries, bananas, nutella, caramel, vanilla, powdered sugar, sprinkles, peanut butter, etc). They present the waffles on a stick and you pick your toppings. I decided on the vanilla drizzle, powdered sugar, and strawberries and it was made to order hot and the toppings were fresh and it was melt in your mouth greatness. I'm so excited to have HCW join the food truck scene.

I'm hooked! My first experience with Holy City Waffles was at Container Bar and I wasn't disappointed. A waffle on a stick!...what a deliciously amazing idea. A great dessert option. My boyfriend ordered a s'mores waffle and a create your own--with Fruity Pebbles, glaze and strawberries. The waffles were warm and soft and the toppings were the perfect added touch. They were so good! My favorite was one with Fruity Pebbles. The man who was taking the orders was super friendly. Hopefully I will run into the truck again sometime soon.

YASSSSSSS!!! They're warm, they're gooey, they're exactly what you want. I'm going to have a very hard time not ordering from here whenever I see the truck. The s'mores waffle was perfect-the marshmallows had their shape but were warm and soft. The cinnamon roll was also perfect. Can't pick? Get them all!

Very tasty little treats. I think I was expecting them to be bigger, but I guess it would get hard to hold a waffle on a stick if it was much bigger. I went with the bourbon maple bacon, and you could really taste the bourbon, which I didn't mind, but it really overpowered the maple flavor, which I did mind. My daughter went with the s'mores waffle, which was loaded with the appropriate ingredients, and instead of milk chocolate, had a Nutella spread, which gave it a bit of a nutty flavor. Overall, very good bites, and I'd probably stop by again the next time they're nearby.

Holy City Waffles is soooo good!! Their food truck was featured in my apartment's April events and I really didn't care to go try them because I'm not a waffle person. I'm so glad I tried it! The waffle was light, fluffy, but also has this delicious crisp at the same time. The toppings were heavenly!! We got s'mores and take 5.

So first and foremost, let's talk about the process of this eatery, you are expected to come in and wait in line grab a menu and then order at the counter. Once you order your food you will get a number to go with your meal then you will choose your seating area for larger parties, the staff will assist and support you with seating. Patrons are not following this process and they are saving tables as they enter which is extending the wait time in line. I ordered the chicken and red velvet waffle, and it was delicious! The chicken was fried perfectly and the cream cheese drizzle paired perfect with the velvet waffle! I didn't even use syrup. I ordered a cup of Parmesan grits on the side. I recommend that you try them. All paired with a pineapple mimosa. I am looking forward to returning. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

The Wafflery is a fast-casual breakfast spot with a surprisingly extensive menu--think waffles, biscuits, and plenty of other brunch favorites. It took me a minute to decide because everything sounded so good! Everything we ordered was flavorful and hit the spot. You can tell they don't cut corners when it comes to taste. They have two locations, and we visited the Rozzelles Ferry location, which was a great choice because there was more parking available. Just a heads up--both locations get pretty busy on weekends, but the line moves quickly, so the wait isn't too bad. If you're visiting Charlotte or just looking for a solid brunch option, this is definitely worth checking out

On every visit to Charlotte, I stop here 2-3 times, whether it's to meet up with friends and colleagues for lunch, to grab a quite bite before evening plans, to spend happy hours and dinners on that delightful back patio or to pick up that insane vegan dessert I've been craving. I mean, can it get any better than a spread of vegan elote corn, nachos smothered with beans, seitan, guac/queso/crema or my new favorite, the crunch wrap with a glass of something icy cold (I usually get a glass of something sparkling at the back bar). Since my last review almost 5 years ago, they sadly removed the matcha cruffin (that I still can't get out of my head!) and added in an entire display of sugary/spicy/chocolatey greatness (I'm still kicking myself for being too late on my way to the airport to get that lemon bar I'd been eying or the pumpkin BUNDT CAKE, ffs. What is wrong with me?) The sweetest owners, the loveliest staff from front counter to back bar to food runners and bussers. I adore Oh My Soul with every ounce of my being.

Person taking our order was rude. Asked what he would recommend as a side given that we'd never been to the restaurant before. He just listed off all the sides and appeared annoyed by the question. We finished our order and he then cancels the tip screen and I didn't know why. He asks if I want a receipt and I say sure. Then I notice that they have an automatic "service charge" of 15% that isn't advertised anywhere in the restaurant. I'm not necessarily against restaurants doing this but it should be advertised. Also, you should have service if you're going to charge a "service charge." Our service consisted of a counter order and then someone who eventually brought out our food. Water was never even refilled. Vibe of everyone that worked there was angry and aggravated. Multiple people scowled at me walking through the dining room from the kitchen. One worker threw open the kitchen door obviously pissed about something. Everyone in the restaurant was waiting forever for their food and other tables would have one entree come out while the other person at the table waited another 15 minutes for their food. Food was nothing special. My wife liked her Mother Earth bowl which is why I'm giving two stars. My chicken sandwich was something out of a frozen box. Hush puppies and onion rings were standard. We only had water to drink. All of this cost us $54.20 total. Anymore this feels like a standard experience in an American restaurant unless you do someplace high end. Ok food, terrible value, terrible service, and junk fees. Like they're doing you a favor just being there. All of this for a restaurant that, as the walls show, is trying to convince you to become vegan. This won't do it guys. Do better if you really care about bringing people to your cause.

Review for Waffle House After relocating to Charlotte--and…read morethe Southeast more broadly--from the San Francisco Bay Area, I've made it a point as a local foodie and someone mindful of supporting community businesses to explore regional institutions I may not have experienced before. One of those places was Waffle House, a name I had heard about but never visited until now. A colleague from Atlanta had talked about it often--especially the hash browns--and described the experience as something of a rite of passage in the South. Naturally, my curiosity got the best of me. I finally visited one location, and I have to say, I was genuinely impressed. I ordered steak and eggs with crispy hash browns and pancakes, and everything arrived exactly as requested. The steak was cooked medium rare, the eggs were perfectly done over medium, and the hash browns were beautifully crisp. The food was simple, satisfying, and well executed--classic comfort food done right. What really stood out, though, was the experience at the counter. Sitting there and watching the cook prepare meals in such a compact space for a restaurant that seats dozens of people felt like live theater. The kitchen is completely visible, and the level of coordination, timing, and organization was impressive. It honestly felt like watching a well-rehearsed symphony. The staff worked efficiently, kept everything clean and orderly, and handled the flow of orders with professionalism. I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that the food is prepared fresh--real eggs, cooked to order--and not from frozen or powdered shortcuts. That attention to basics goes a long way. Other highlights: * Friendly, attentive staff * Easy parking and convenient access * Great value for the quality and portion size * A uniquely open kitchen experience you rarely get to see I left a generous tip because the service and execution deserved it, and I walked away with a completely new appreciation for this iconic Southern institution. My earlier assumptions about Waffle House were definitely corrected. I imagine weekends can get busy, so I personally prefer visiting during quieter, off-peak hours when you can enjoy the meal and observe the rhythm of the kitchen without the rush. Bottom line: If you're new to the South or simply curious, visiting a Waffle House really is a rite of passage. Be open-minded, sit at the counter, watch the magic happen, and enjoy a solid, satisfying meal. You just might be pleasantly surprised--like I was.
