It's the old Marathon gas station where the display racks have been taken out and left a massive space. You can tell where the fridges used to be. It appears to be storage. There are outdoor lights like what people use to provide some ambience to a patio. The tables are black and in desperate need of shellac, There are black and red padded metal banquet style chairs. The floors are also in desperate need of love. They have seen better days. There are a lot of tables so plenty of room. They should really be getting their socials together to advertise their fish fry given the closest are in Monroe, Pineville and Lancaster - they would be filling the seats. The French fries definitely didn't even taste like potatoes. They tasted more like the oil that they weee fried in and from the taste of it everything else. The smash burger had enough butter on the bun and sauce that it was down the arm. Wet naps would be key for ordering the smash burger. The catfish was crispy and didn't have much flavor. The corn bread that came with it was overpowered by cinnamon flavor that must've been added due to the sweet potato. Cajun fries appeared to be heavily seasoned but were lacking flavor. What a nice addition to Waxhaw! This area is starved for soul and Jamaican foods and Food Geeks Eatery delivers on both fronts. We ordered both a small shrimp plate with collards and okra, and a small boneless bourbon chicken plate with collards and mac-n-cheese. Each plate included seasoned Jasmine rice at $18.99 which some may think a tad high; however, the portions are huge and the food was fantastic. For me the highlights were those smoky, tender, and tasty collards and the ooey-gooey baked mac-n-cheese. So. Damn. Good. The plates are served in take away containers and we munched on leftovers for the next two days. Mmmmm! Now for some constructive criticisms. Cleanliness. The entire store needs a thorough scrubbing from windows, floors, and table tops. Whatever items not required for use should be stored elsewhere and the music was too loud for dine-in. A health sanitation score of 94 may give some pause, too. I'm pulling for this place (and their new location in Monroe, too). Some of the friendliest service you will ever experience. The food was good and worth the drive. We ordered take out and had the Bushwick Cheesesteak, 2 meat platter and the lemonade ice tea. The cheesesteak was one of the best I've had in NC. Packed with meat and flavor and a nice size hero. The turkey wing was smothered in bbq sauce and served over rice which had good flavor and the bourbon chicken was good too. The food is okay. It's conveniently located next to taphouse so for the overwhelming number of buzzed bar patrons they likely get the food is great. The service here on our second time ordering was TERRIBLE. I ordered through their website, which quoted a wait time of 32-38 minutes for an order of chicken wings, a cheese steak, and a salad. The website tracking does not actually tell you when your order is ready. At 40 minutes, my wife went to pick up our food. It wasn't ready until one hour after ordering, despite the website originally quoting 38 minutes max. That's all fine-- places get busy and those estimates are not perfect. When my wife returned with our food, we were given wings from someone else's order. We ordered 7 wings, no sauce, with an upcharge for all flats. We got five wings with sauce and a mix of drums and flats. I returned to the shop to give them back to the wrong wings and get what we had actually ordered. When I entered, I approached the ordering area and I stood on a small platform there to be out of the way of the crowd trying to place orders at the kiosk. While trying to explain what had happened (the wings were clearly marked with the wrong order number), the young lady working at the front interrupted me to tell me to get down from the platform. I then waited an additional fifteen minutes for our wings. In the mean time, I listened to the young lady offer free drinks to three different customers for the unexpected wait for their meals. I was offered nothing. The worst part is I pre tipped this terrible take out service very respectably. read more

The food is awesome would absolutely recommend. It's Sunday dinner done well. I was very pleased with the Chicken and waffles meal. Then came back for Fried Catfish meal. Chief kiss to the Macaroni and Cheese and the corn bread . Also did the greens - I am not a fan of mean greens as I don't do spice...but I kept eating them. Our food delivery has always been on point -hot and delicious. Only one time was the food disappointing- I decided to try the fried whiting-it was fried too hard and the plantains were not sweet and sticky -they were very bland. And the macaroni and cheese was not hot and creamy-it looked like it had been sitting and was just warmed up. Snow day review! I'm from New Orleans so I'm a harsh critic on food. This shrimp platter was THE best I've had in the entirety of the Carolinas. Large, beautiful butterflied shrimp with that perfect airy crunch. I got the Mac n cheese & the candied yams as sides. I'm blown away. The Mac n cheese is so obviously homemade. It's thick and creamy with so much flavor. The candied yams taste like grandma's Thanksgiving sweet potato pie on happy crack. Honestly thought this place was still a gas station and we originally just stopped for a bathroom break. That was until we walked in and experienced the smell of the food. AS SOON as you wall through the door you know you're in a soul food restaurant. Fried fish, cornbread, dirty rice, and sweet yams. You're practically smacked in the face by it but in the best way possible. If that's not enough, their staff make you feel right at home. The owner even came to talk to us because he realized we had never been there before. Talk about pride in your craft. We landed on the smothered pork chop with greens and mac and cheese. Don't sleep on this one....You order from a POS system when you walk in. The staff and owner are extremely helpful and nice. We tried a ton of things on the menu and everything was great. The real standouts were the loaded fries. The Nostrand fries were our favorite. The wings are great and so are the chicken tenders. The chopped cheese and cheesesteaks are home runs. I just wished they didn't use the basic food service bread. The burritos and burgers were outstanding as was the fried chicken. Get the corn bread!, The breakfast sandwich on a hard roll was also a winner.My new favorite place to eat in Waxhaw. Highly recommended if you like comfort food. read more
