While staying in Charlotte, we decided to come eat here. The service was amazing! Even for a 30 minute wait, they were respectful and always asking if we needed anything. I did notice people drinking while waiting on their table which is a plus. I ordered the savory toast and it was delicious. Light but filling. I also had a chai latte which hit the spot. My fiancé had the poppyseed pancake and omg let me tell you. It was perfect! Sweet but not overly sweet. Moist but not raw with a hint of honey in the mix. The syrup as well had a hit of honey and came out warm. This just added the cherry on the top. Walnuts decorated the tops of the pancakes with a nice crunch and lift sweet taste. The location is great, small yet cozy. If it were a tad bigger, I can see it filling up as well. If I could give this a 10, I would. Don't overthink it, come eat here. read more

Another 5 star experience at Poppyseed! This is truly one of my fiance and I's fav spots!!! We love making the trek from Huntersville to come here. They never disappoint and I can't recommend them enough. This review is from a few weeks ago but I had to share. We also enjoy their fresh, scratch made food!!! We had another great meal of delicious pastries that you literally can't find anywhere else. I had their french toast and bacon, my fiance had their shrimp and grits and you can just taste the difference in their food. They're making everything in house and it's noticeable. This was my second time visiting with friends for Sunday brunch. The first time we came early enough we were sat right away and the second time we came a little later and there was 45 minute wait. There was a slight kerfuffle with seating where we thought we were getting sat and ended up having to wait 30 minutes but the hostess was super nice and gave us coffee while we waited. The food was excellent, as was the service and the little patio they have out back is great and covered with oversized umbrellas. Will definitely return! read more

I've come here more times than I can recall. I drive here just for coffee more often than food but I have had the pleasure of trying a few items from their menu. I've tried their breakfast burrito, avocado BLT, and brisket. The burrito is made well & pairs with the local hot sauce they serve. The avocado BLT has been my favorite, I add a fried egg to it. I was saddened to hear their menu changed for fall but cannot wait to have it again soon. Their blueberry muffins are also really good. I've only ever eaten inside but why also have outdoor seating. Poppyseed Kitchen is goodness. Stopped in and was promptly seated. Decided to go with the Biscuit and Gravy with eggs over easy. It took a while for the food to come out which was strange because it wasn't that busy yet. Food eventually arrived and the egg was cooked perfectly. The gravy was delicious but the star was the biscuits. They were fantastic. Only drawback for this visit was the service in general not just from the kitchen but also the waitress. Just very slow and again it wasn't that busy yet so not sure what the issue was but the food as noted as really good. If you are looking for a delicious breakfast, stop by Poppyseed. read more

We were visiting from out of town and were looking for an early breakfast before we moved on with our trip. This place hit the spot. We got the local and the American. Both meals were delicious. The croissant was perfect, so fluffy and so fresh. The pastries looked really good too, disappointed I didn't grab one of those as well. Service was amazing also. The young man with curly hair (didn't catch his name) was very polite and checked in with us often. He was willing to go through the menu and offer suggestions when we asked. We have two young children and felt comfortable coming here to eat. Sometimes it's hard to find places that have table service that feel welcoming to kids so just wanted to add that here. I take myself here on a date every Sunday. And for good reason. I can always rely on Poppyseed to come through with delicious, delicate pastries, a warm, inviting atmosphere and service that is never short of above-and-beyond. While my meal today took some time to come out, the team lovingly let me know (without my asking, I might add) that they took a percentage off of my bill AND had a raspberry croissant with my name on it to take home-to apologize for any inconvenience. After my breakfast, I came home, more than happy with my experience (as usual), and the first thing I did was call my lawyer to rewrite my will and put Poppyseed Kitchen as the #1 beneficiary. read more

There's a lot of competition these days among breakfast restaurants but I believe Poppyseed Kitchen is the best in the area. This review is a bit of a cheat as I've been here umpteen times previously. However my prior visits were all for pickup orders; my practice is to only post for restaurants I've dined in. So this time I stayed and was rewarded. The Stuffed French Toast, always delicious, was even better without taking it home. The bread still had firmness which gave the dish much more texture. I recommend pairing the toast with a side of bacon, the crispy saltiness provides a wonderful contrast. There are many other excellent choices on the menu. The Ranch Hash is my personal savory favorite. The brisket is in bite-size chunks which add flavor and "heft" to the rosemary potatoes . And try sunny-side up eggs on top for some runny yolk with the hash. Trust me, it's a great combination. And don't forget fresh-baked pastries. A definite highlight, the menu is changed - daily? At least, they never have the same options when I've visited. Homemade pop-tarts, anyone? The service is excellent , the coffee is delicious. And hey, Bob Ross was on the television painting fluffy little clouds as entertainment. Highly recommended! read more

Another visit to Poppyseed Kitchen, another 5 Star review. My neighbor Randy asked me to join him for lunch here on a Friday. We went at 'prime time' but he did the 'call ahead waitlist' and got us in sooner. Parking lot was packed as there are several other business' who share the parking lot. Our Sever was Merritt, an absolute professional, very nice and was able to answer our questions. It's clear the owners here understand the importance of Customer Service. There are roaming Managers who come to every table and ask if they can assist, pour more coffee, fill your water or other beverage. We both had the PoppySeed Salad. I added the salmon and Randy added the chicken. The house vinaigrette dressing is excellent. We each had the house drip coffee, a medium roast which was very good. They bring cream and they have Splenda on the table. If the parking lot is full, there is a lot across the street on the same side of the restaurant opposite the CVS drug store. read more

One of the best breakfast I've had in Fort Mill ever! I love a good brunch and so far this place has checked a lot of boxes. Mimosa, good bread (and they know how to butter it), amazing jam and REAL eggs cooked perfectly. I live less than 10 minutes from this spot and just went last week. We went here, a while in the area for a volleyball tournament after seeing the reviews on yelp. So glad we did. The service and the food were excellent. Stopped by late morning. Got lucky with seating because a bunch of early birds were finishing breakfast so it was a very short wait. Sat outside with a nice breeze, feeling like fall is here. Loved the casual nature of this place. We were sat pretty quickly even though it was busy especially on a Friday. We got the chicken and waffles as well as the shrimp and grits. Cute comfy spot with sandwiches and breakfast foods. Food taste farm to table for sure. The waitlist was great to use as they do not accept reservations and are pretty busy on a Saturday at 1pm. They close at 3pm so the crowd slowed down around 2pm. Service was friendly and fast. Had the poppyseed pancakes 3/5. Not as sweet as I expected the texture of the pancake was perfect however. The bacon was really good and the Rosemary potatoes were as named! Their scrambled eggs taste a lil strange to me. Taste as if they add something but I forgot to ask. The crispy Asiago cheese was very fun addition to the Market Vegetable entree. It paired well with the sauces and medley of vegetables! It was filling and certainly the perfect portion size to finish and not feel way too stuffed! It also gave me amazing energy rather than the usual, post-brunch slump. I also had an iced coffee but it was way too sweet, even though I said half sweet. The flavor was fine though! We asked to be seated outside, and they happily did just that. Oh my god Lord! At long last, I tried a "Pop Tart" from Poppyseed Kitchen. This is the best pastry this side of the Atlantic, in my educated opinion! Flaky, crispy but moist, with a perfect amount of (raspberry in this visit) tart and not too sweet filling; iced with what can only be described as confectionery ambrosia. NB: I'm in two minds whether to post this review or not. My fear is that it may encourage others to buy more of these delicious treats, thereby reducing my chance to have them all for myself!! read more

Finally got a chance to try Poppyseed yesterday and it certainly lives up to the hype! Wonderful atmosphere and lots of great choices for everyone on the menu. It's difficult for me to go to breakfast/brunch places since I am dairy free and also allergic to eggs. Most places don't have vegan options on the menu, but Poppyseed does! I got the tofu scramble (no avocado due to an allergy) and it was so good! My husband got the biscuits and gravy with over easy eggs and my sister-in-law got the French American. We all really enjoyed our meals very much. Our server was sweet and very attentive. It was extremely busy but she checked in with us often and kept my husband refilled with coffee. We don't run out for brunch/breakfast much, but when we do Poppyseed kitchen will be a place to stop! read more

Not gonna lie the first time I came here I didn't love it but I think it's just because of what I ordered. Last time I ordered the oatmeal and I guess I really wasn't feeling it so I added some pictures of the menu, but chose not to review. I returned here the other day though for breakfast, and it was an great experience. Overlooking the menu I really liked the toppings on one of the toast options but I wanted to modify it a little bit. I asked my server if they would be able to put the pumpkin butter and cinnamon apples on top of a French toast bread, and they were happy to do so. Basically like a cinnamon Apple French toast. It was delicious. The chef even came out at one point and ask me how it turned out. It was a busy day but the service was good and even when our server was busy, our table was never overlooked as other people checked in on us. There was a small wait to be sat, but it was less than 10 minutes. Plate watching, it looked like a lot of people around us ordered the croissant sandwich which is definitely something I'm going to order my next time here because the croissants looked so fresh and flaky. Overall, I am glad that I came back because this is now on my list of top places to go for breakfast/brunch. read more

I had the Birdbox chicken sandwich and my husband had the Monte Cristo -- both were amazing, but that chicken sandwich might just be one of the best I've ever had. Perfectly crispy, juicy, and the hot honey? Absolute magic. They do both breakfast and lunch, and while I usually lean toward lunch when I'm out, I can't resist their breakfast menu -- their pancakes are fluffy, buttery perfection every time. Yesterday was my first time at Poppyseed Kitchen in Ft. Mill. The food and service were excellent and I will be back with friends! Not only was it a great dining experience, but when my car battery died in the parking lot, the restaurant owner was so helpful. He brought jumper cables and I was able to get the car started. What a great guy. And then he recommended O'Reilly auto parts where I went and purchased a new battery. I can't say enough about the restaurant, the great food, the very nice owner who went beyond to help a customer out. And oh, I forgot to mention the delicious muffins that I purchased on the way out.
