I've heard so much buzz about this place, but I'm wondering if my hour-long wait is really worth it. I STAND CORRECTED! It is definitely worth the wait! I've bought two of each kind of donuts. The maximum purchase is eight donuts per person. Flavor for the month were: HOKEY POKEY CARROT CHEESECAKE MATCHA CREAM YUZU CURD Even after three days in the fridge, they were still amazing! The specialty item that day was the STICKY TOFFEE CAKE. Again maximum was 2 per person. Now I totally why it's so popular! It's my absolute favorite! You can now add me to your fan base list!

The Flour Box is a delightfully cute bakery, but you should definitely be prepared for a bit of a wait. The lines here are notoriously long, and I genuinely wish they offered an option for pick-up orders to help bypass the crowd outside. That being said, once you finally get inside, the service is impressively quick. The ambiance is very charming and welcoming. I picked up a latte alongside a sea salt brownie and three donuts: honeycomb, yuzu, and matcha. The honeycomb donut was easily my favorite of the bunch. The absolute best part of the entire experience, though, is the actual dough of the donuts. The texture and flavor of the bread itself are phenomenal and truly set their pastries apart from other spots in Seattle. Overall, the baked goods are fantastic and well worth trying. If the ordering process was just a little more convenient, it would easily be five stars!

The Flour Box is very well known, rightfully so. Lines always form before they open, but it's much better than waiting in line while they're open. Show up earlier and spend less of your day waiting. Seating is available, but expect it to be cold (outdoors with a cover). A bit overhyped (most things are) but delicious and worth a visit. High quality, rotating flavors, consistency, and limited stock draw the crowd. Gen-Matcha Latte - honestly pretty basic, very similar to coffee shop matcha. The overall drink was milkier than desired and the matcha isn't too potent, but it can satisfy the craving if there's no better options or there's a time crunch. With the rise of matcha specialty places, I'd consider matcha elsewhere. Roasted Banana - at $5.50 a donut, it's pricey, but worth trying at least once, maybe twice, three times, or more. Banana is a fairly powerful flavor and here it's also creamy, smooth, and not too sweet. I can imagine ripe bananas are used here meaning minimal added sugar, because the filling isn't that sweet. The brioche itself is a wonderful fluff and I feel like the sprinkled sugar on top is sweeter than the filling. Okinawa Sweet Potato - at $5.75 a donut, the 25 cent increase could be attributed with the tasty mochi sealing the filling. Joking, I'm sure the ingredients for this filling can be pricier plus the labor is a bit more effort. Sweet potato is a classic taste that ube and taro lovers will enjoy. The nutty potato flavors are roasted with a coconut flavor, there's a faint smokiness while not being overwhelmingly sweet.

I've been here a couple of times and the experience has mostly been the same every time. It's a super cute place with plenty of seating, and they turn on the heat when it's cold out which is nice. The donuts are definitely really good, but in my opinion it's only worth a long wait if they have a savory donut. I really wish they would have more of those! Their sweet donuts are still good, I just don't think it's anything special to be waiting so long for. The place is pretty out of my way, so the drive and the wait really deter me from going more often. It's also really expensive for donuts. I know everything is housemade, so I know you're paying for good quality, but it averages $20+ for four donuts. I like that they change up the flavors every two weeks, so it still gives you time if you can't go one week. However, I really wish that they would ask for more customer input. They have such a huge fan base already I think it would just be a really nice touch if they did instagram polling or even just ask for customer ideas every once in a while to make it more interactive and exciting. My favorite flavors so far have been their Salmon Everything & their Sour Cream and Onion!

The Flour Box needs no introduction, and frankly probably doesn't even need this review. But the photos I took during my most recent visit are so pretty I figured I may as well put them up here! This round of flavors was their best one yet, the Yuzu was so fresh and sour while the Kimchi one was original and satisfying. My favorite was the Jasmine milk tea one, the tea accent in the cream was so beautiful. I waited 1 hour 45 minutes total this time, I usually come once every 2 or 3 months when I see a round of flavors i feel especially passionate about. I hope to see them continue to lean into making more original flavors, especially asian ones :)

There's a line. The wait is worth it. We got a variety of flavors but The Winter Cold Brew was my fave- the filling was light - but rich with coffee flavor rounded off with a a smooth orange flavor. The quality of the donuts is fantastic and soft and PACKED with the quality fillings. Can't go here every day but if you've got the time you should make it.

My friend follows The Flour Box on Instagram and saw their special donut offerings: Jasmine Milk Tea, Red Bean Cream, Yuzu Curd and Kimchi Everything! We went on a Friday morning and when we arrived there was already a line out the door. I've been here before when the line snaked around the block, so seeing the line only at the corner of the street made us feel lucky. When we got inside we saw the display of donuts. They looked amazing! I love their attention to detail to create a wonderful sight of each donut. My friend ordered one of each flavor and specific ones for her two friends. I ordered the Yuzu Curd and Jasmine Milk Tea donuts. We also ordered their special drinks; banana milk and orange vanilla latte. The Jasmine Milk Tea donut had a nice flavor. It didn't overwhelm me, but then I took a bite of the Yuzu Curd donut. I could taste the sweetness of the donut and the tangy tartness of the lemon curd! It tasted great! My friend ate her Kimchi Everything donut and loved it. She saved the other donuts for later. I saved the other halves of my donuts for my partner, but I wished I had gotten another Yuzu Curd donut for myself! If you like creative, beautiful donuts with interesting flavors, you must go to The Flour Box. They do an amazing job with the donuts, plus the presentation is top notch.

I love these donuts and every time I go back I'm always wow-ed by the different flavors. I love that they rotate the flavors every few weeks. I like the more savory donuts better but they're all so tasty and consistent. Service is friendly and quick. There's plenty of space to sit and enjoy the donuts and drinks after purchasing, they have some merchandise and other items for purchase by the front. Worth the wait in line every time, get there a half hour to an hour before opening to secure the goods.

I absolutely LOVE coming to Flour Box and trying their new biweekly flavors of brioche donuts. Although the line does get extremely long (and I do recommend coming at least 30 mins before opening to hop in line) they're worth the wait. It's also very cute inside the cafe area in and outside so I'd recommend stopping for a bit to enjoy your order.

The best donuts I have had yet! This place is a very popular one! I tend to steer clear of places with long lines because hype usually dies down but this is not the case for the flour box. They have a consistent line and wait every day that they are open but it is completely understandable why. Their rotating flavors make visiting this place fun and they usually space out repeating flavors. They also have great matching flavors for holiday occasions. My biggest piece of advise is to keep up with their line and their flavors on their social media. They will usually update their estimated wait time on their instagram story! I have visited this place close to 10 times and each time the wait has been longer than 25 minutes but I have never waited more than 1 hour. It is honestly a great weekend activity with company! Some of my favorite flavors include their caramel biscoff, cold brew, brownie, and so many more! The cream filling flavors are always spot on and just right. The donut itself also takes the cake when it comes to this style of donut! I recommend getting there early so flavors that you want don't run out and finding street parking in the nearby neighborhood. Do bring patience and good company and your morning will be set!

    Evergreen State and Gingerbread Cream
    Sherry T.

Food and drink: both the Evergreen State and the Gingerbread cream were delicious. Also, my boyfriend won't stop raving about the coffee, and I thought the hot chocolate was perfect. Everything was just sweet enough. Service: fast and friendly Ambiance: clean and cozy We arrived at 9:40am and the line was already nearing the corner. It was worth the wait. It's rare to get a five star review from me. The Flour Box earned it.

Absolutely love this gem - the best brioche donuts in Washington by far. Every flavor is well thought out and unique. You call tell they use all fresh ingredients. They have the best rotating menu for not just donuts, but also espresso/tea drinks, and occasional miscellaneous desserts. Highly recommend Shy Bear Fog (an oolong tea drink). The line out the door is intimidating but it usually goes a lot quicker than expected. I'm usually able to find an open seat in their lounge area whenever I visit close to opening. Keep an eye on their Instagram stories for real-time updates on their inventory.

This place has been on my list for the longest time and I finally managed to head over to check out their fall flavors! I ordered the honeycrisp apple donut, a chocolate chip cookie, and the mulled apple cider (seasonal drink). Everything I got here was delicious! My favorite by far was definitely the honeycrisp apple donut, especially because the filling inside had apple pieces inside that were clearly freshly cut due to having a light and snappy bite to them. Loved the more subtle taste of the fresh apples too compared to the ones that you usually get in baked goods--it really made this stand out as a pastry! The donut itself was so so so soft and fluffy, maybe even slightly too soft as I like when my donuts have some crust to them and this one was just pillowy inside and out. I'm totally not complaining though. Everything here was definitely worth the wait! I got there significantly before opening (around 9:40am) and the line was already really long though, so definitely line up early.

    What's the parking situation like?

Very small parking lot. Fills up very fast. One handicap spot. Most likely you'll have to park on the street but typically plenty of parking easily within a block or two.

Does this place still have the very long lines or has it died down as of 10/20/24?

Apparently every day can be different. The best way to find out is to follow their IG. They just had a short hiatus, and the line seems to be longer than before since they reopened this Saturday.

Do they have cinnamon rolls every day?

No, but they have different treats daily.

What's the reason behind their current "wait in line until we sell out" model? I have been wanting to try them for a long time but I live a 30 min drive away and think it's a little wonky to drive there with no guarantee of getting an order filled.

They're very transparent about doughnuts possibly selling out while you're in line before it gets to your turn. Taking that risk is entirely up to you. There's never a 100% guarantee you'll go home with doughnuts, but I used to I lived 20 minutes… Read more

    Are they open on Easter?

    Yes they are

Is this place open on Thanksgiving Day?

    They are not

What time does the line start forming?

I arrived on a beautiful sunny day in the summer around 9:15am and the line was halfway down the block. We got our donuts a little bit after 10:30am (they opened a bit early that day as well).

Is there a limit to the number of donuts we can buy per person? I'm seeing photos of the chalkboard showing that there is a 3 donut per person limit and another showing that you can buy a dozen donuts at a time.

They currently do not have any limits! They used to have limits a while back but those aren't in effect at this time.

Are they open at 10AM or 11AM? Yelp says 11 but their website says 10. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    10am!

Why are the hours so limited 3 hours 4 days a week?

Because that's all they can handle at this time. Having a business is not easy 🤦🏻‍♀️

When will it open in hillman city?

Hoping for a May 2020 opening! :) Likely late May. Stay updated on Instagram at @theflourboxseattle!

For the quality, I thought that was a really good value. I order vanilla lattes everywhere I go, and this one was fantastic. Through several visits: Baguette, Large ($7.95) - Great baguette with bubbling golden exterior complete with the perfectly baked crust even after waiting 3 hours before cutting in and eating. The interior has the perfect moisture level and is delightfully soft and chewy. The taste overall has a deep developed flavor. This is a great baguette. The only problem - the price. I can find ones for half the price that are maybe 80% as good as this one. (5/5) Seasonal Biscuit ($4.50) - This biscuit definitely isn't Southern-style. It's more of a drop biscuit, combining a relatively soft and tender interior with a nice exterior crust, without any flakiness or layering. The interior is almost cake-like in texture and crumb, and is plenty moist. They add plenty of fresh black pepper inside. It's distributed very evenly, giving a peppery bite with every mouthful. Parmesan is added to the top of the biscuit before baking, giving plenty of umami and richness but only on the upper layer. (4/5) Green Vinaigrette Cafeteria Style Pizza ($6.25) - The pizza is kept under a warming lamp, so it starts getting a little dried out after I assume a couple of hours spent there. I do love the base though - it's focaccia-like giving a really crunchy dark golden brown crust underneath, which supports the toppings. The pizza slice has lots of structural integrity and doesn't flop over. There's a base of fragrant concentrated tomato paste-like flavor which is topped with a very even layer of cheese. Since it's warmed rather than freshly baked, the cheese starts congealing a bit. The cheese is peppered with parsley, garlic, and a bunch of mustard seeds, giving a special zing. The toppings go all the way to the sides of the pie, making it great for people who dislike crust. Even though it's cafeteria style pizza that's kept under heat lamps, I quite liked it. I wonder if I can get a really fresh slice if I get there right at 11AM when lunch starts. (5/5) Chocolate Croissant ($6.10) - Great lamination with a very aesthetic honeycomb pattern. Baked on the harder side, causing fantastic crispy flaky layers to flake off, but also creating a darker golden brown character that is on the verge of bitterness. Nicely buttery soft and chewy interior. Chocolate is a darker variety, probably somewhere around 70%, so it has a pleasing balanced sweetness and chocolate flavor. It's not typical baton, instead seems to be a section from a bar. Still warm and melty even through I didn't eat the croissant until ~30 minutes after purchasing. When cooled down further, some red fruity notes start appearing, so this seems to be be pretty high quality. (5/5) White Sourdough ($12.60) - Now this is a loaf of bread. Superb crust, probably 2 or 3 times as thick compared to competitors, creating a supreme crusty bite with a chew approaching a hard crunch with almost caramelized molasses notes on the bottom. The interior is moist and tender with a pleasing slight sourdough tang. It's a superb piece of craftsmanship. (5/5) Kouign Amann ($5.80) - This is another heavier bake with some acridity development on the top surface. Unlike many other bakeries where the kouign amann is basically a differently shaped croissant with sugar glaze, Sea Wolf's version feels more in line with tradition. The crumb is denser and richer, more like brioche. There's interesting black speckling inside which I believe is due to the inclusion of espresso powder given the mild coffee-like flavor. The crust is again baked hard, but it's lighter and not as flaky as the croissant. They sprinkle just a bit of salt on top of a very light caramelized sugar glaze. It's not very sweet and I didn't find it too salty unlike some other reviewers. (5/5) Plain Focaccia Slice ($4.80) - Good quality olive oil, some salt sprinkled on top to boost the flavors. Light and airy interior, but the exterior is a little wan, being more light golden brown and lacking some good crusty crisp especially on the fried bottom. Quite oily. (4/5) Sea Wolf gives out free sourdough starter, which can be requested from the cashier. Since picking it up several weeks ago, I've gone through several feed/bake cycles for making sourdough focaccia. I've visited Sea Wolf 3 or 4 times in the last month. That's a testament to how high quality their pastries and breads are. I think the only thing stopping me from visiting more is thanks to the starter I got from them fanning my baking instincts. I bake so much now that I don't have any need to buy their bread! Note: Sea Wolf charges a 3% credit card fee. This is not noted on their menu - it only appears in the POS right before paying. Kind of sketchy. Bathrooms - Single unisex room

I really enjoyed the kouign amann, as the bottom crust was nicely caramelized with flecks of vanilla bean. Both felt slightly on the smaller side, but maybe my appetite is on the bigger side. They also had savory selections (seasonal flavors). Overall, a cult favorite, easily accessible, with consistent quality across pastries. Friendly staff, and plenty of outdoor seating.

I ordered an extra bacon and cheese sandwich on a toasted English muffin, and it was excellent. The muffin was perfectly toasted, the bacon was crisp and flavorful, and the cheese complemented everything really well. It was simple, fresh, and very satisfying to start the morning. The bakery itself has a very pleasant atmosphere. It feels warm, welcoming, and comfortable, making it a great place to sit down and enjoy a quiet breakfast in the city. To finish, I tried a slice of triple coconut cream pie to go, and it was absolutely heavenly. Rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced, it easily stood out as one of the highlights of the visit and something I won't forget anytime soon. Overall, Dahlia Bakery delivered great food, a relaxing atmosphere, and an outstanding dessert. Since I was only in Seattle briefly for business, I'm not sure when I'll be back, but I'm glad I had the chance to experience it.

As the…read moreother reviews indicate, there can be very long lines depending on the time of day that you get there. There really has been no rhyme or reason on when there are long or short lines, but for your sake, hope that you get a short line. Inside, there is a decent amount of seating upstairs and downstairs (though only one bathroom), but this seems like it would be a great spot to meet with a friend or coworker or try to get some work done. I'm a big fan of the horchata brioche donut, so that's what I recommend you try. The pastries are reasonably priced and freshly made, and if you don't like things that are too sweet they will be perfect for you. I think the only complaint I've had is the drinks the barista has made can be very hit or miss, especially once with Chai I had. The barista was nice enough to remake the drink, but that's probably one area of improvement. Overall, this is a great little spot and I look forward to coming back again.

The breakfast sandwiches available after 0700 are savor-y and packed with flavor. I see issues with customer service and I get it. Sometimes, the person taking my order isn't very thrilled. The other day, when I asked to confirm a particular drink was mine (as the drink was prepared for to-go instead of here), I received a judgemental stare. But I come here often and have learned how busy they get. I get exhausted just watching them! and I am so grateful this cafe is here. As someone coming from another cafe-focused city, this was the first place that really made me feel like I was home. Stellar food, beverages, and ambience. Only other complaint is lack of outlets for charging.

He especially loved that it had just the right amount of mint flavoring without being toothpaste For breakfast, I ordered their fruit danish! I love that they had different options of fruit to pick from and I chose blueberry! The pastry was perfectly flaky and I loved how fresh the blueberry tasted. My boyfriend ordered the chocolate croissant because he was excited at the idea of the chocolate being piped through the croissant and also drizzled over the top, but it turns out the dark brown parts on top are just design and not more chocolate. Still, he was pleased with the amount of chocolate in the croissant and the bite I had was heavenly. The champagne cake caught my eye as I was ordering and I just had to try a bite, it was absolutely delicious and fresh. I loved how light the cake was and the layers of flavour through the whole dessert! I love how bright and airy the cafe is! My boyfriend and I were easily able to find seating by the windows and enjoyed the gorgeous view of the space needle and people watching as we shared breakfast. The staff here was also patient and welcoming. We'll definitely have to come back and try more of their pastries!!

All the pastries except for the regular butter croissant were available, and we were able to place an order for the kimchi focaccia and sakura swiss roll, which were slated to come out around 10am. Service was super friendly! I got the hojicha latte, the okonomiyaki frittata, black sesame cookie, kimchi focaccia, and sakura swiss roll. The hojicha latte was rich and earthy in the best way, and it went really well with the black sesame cookie, which had a great strong sesame flavor, and the texture was perfectly chewy! The focaccia was pillowy and chewy at the same - I could've eaten five of these on their own. The frittata was my least favorite item, but by no means am I saying that it's bad! I thought the sauces overpowered it a bit, and the frittata itself was a bit bland - I couldn't even tell it had sweet potato in it, but it was cooked really well. There was ample seating in the heated patio, but parking was a little confusing, though we got lucky with the small lot right next to the store. There were a lot of signs that said no parking along the street in front, but it seemed like a lot of cars were parked there?

I don't know if they rotate their pastries or if they just sold out of everything but only items on display case were the chocolate cookie, sesame cookie, the sakura chiffon roll, savory focaccia, apple cake and maybe one other item. I really was looking forward to trying a cardamom croissant or bun but they didn't have either available. My iced latte was alright. Nothing to go crazy over. The cherry foam for an additional $2.00 was very pretty but that's where it stopped at. Absolutely no cherry or sakura flavor. Disappointed. The sesame cookie had a great smell to it. The aroma of sesame was strong. The cookie had a nice crisp to the edge and a chewy center. The sesame taste wasn't as strong as the smell. The spicy chicken sandwich on special was not spicy at all. It was overwhelmingly sweet from the orange glaze/sauce on the kitchen. It was a decent sandwich and I definitely finished it. Just not something I would gravitate back to. I understand the reviews about how this place doesn't live up to some extra hype. It's decent, solid and a great option for the area but to go out of your way for and wait thirty minutes in line? Not really.
