Diner is located immediately off Route 1, which depending on time of day can be tricky. Went for an early breakfast and were seated right away. Waitress was friendly and got us coffee right away which tasted pretty good for diner coffee. Portions are HUGE. With the two egg special I got three pieces of sausage and a mountain of potatoes. Oh, and toast! If you want a classic diner experience, I would recommend! read more

I love trying diners in the Jersey area! Some menu items can be hit or miss. I loved the chicken and rice soup and Mediterranean fries but would not get the disco fries again. Ambiance: - cozy, well lit - plenty of seating Service: - friendly and attentive waiter - food was served quickly Food - Monte Carlo: huge portion! French toast was fluffy and the strawberry jam was sweet and delicious. I also loved the coleslaw- just the right balance of mayo and tanginess - chicken and rice soup: my go to diner soup was full of chicken flavor and fluffy rice - disco fries: came with large pieces of mozzarella that slid off the fries. I wish the mozzarella was incorporated more evenly into the fries Would love to come back to try out their breakfast items! read more

First time here. Arrived around 10 PM and the place was busy -- always a good sign. The menu is massive, and the portions do not disappoint. Our waiter was super friendly and kept the conversation going for a while, which made dinner entertaining. I had the Malibu burger -- much avocado and crispy bacon.! I did a quick taste test of my friend's sweet potato fries and instantly regretted not ordering them myself. Overall, great food, great vibe, and great service. Will coming back soon -- next time I'm trying one of their wraps. read more

Breakfast at our favorite local diner. BLT with slaw, pickle and terra type chips - great breakfast, but I should have asked for crispy bacon. Surprised at the terra chips, but it was pleasant surprise. Daughter had a corned beef hash, potato and two fried eggs, and my significant other had two fried eggs and potato. All were tasty, and the two dishes came with two slices of buttered toast. Nice to be in a busy restaurant and seeing everyone enjoy being with one another and having a great breakfast. Definitely our go to place when we are wanting diner food or not clear on a choice until we look at this multi-page menu. read more

Solid. My egg sandwich was competent. My dining companion's Florentine egg white omelette was "fine," not bad at all, big portions of egg and potato. Served did not offer a coffee warmup, but it was packed and felt homey. Don't understand the whole Renoir themed interior but why not? It's a NJ diner. Anything goes. read more

I came in late to The Edison Diner , after a Mannyhatty trip. We had about an hour left. It was dimly lit , probably 6-7 tables filled and the esthetic is very well taken care of and " kitschy" . The host first thing let us know that the diner was closing soon .. thank you sir yes. The tables were adorable and had awesome curated Menus as seen in my photos. The food was the best part. I ordered the deluxe cheeseburger with mayo and ketchup and it had bacon which was possibly the BEST bacon on that side of Jersey!! I don't know how they cooked it but it tasted like how Korean pork belly tastes lol. My partner ordered the Eggs Benny and he found them to be a bit watery and I had to agree but overall we were both pleased. The 3/5 Stars comes from me ordering the desserts and the insane amount of money that was and I am 99% sure the host kept a $1 which was so weird in itself , had I addressed this -it surly would've just invited drama I wasn't in the mood for . AND you could just tell from his demeanor he's " like that " . I didn't say anything because his personality reeked of male toxicity. I apologize truly because the food and ambiance was darling. Service was just okay. I don't love places that only have male servers and as soon as I come in I am told I get have an hour left .. all " no nos" in my book. I as usual over tipped and bought something local and was overcharged so I believe everyone involved deserves a fair assessment. The desserts were amazing btw and clearly homemade. Were they work $19 ? 4 desserts . UM . It's so hard now to say. I am being brain washed. I felt it was overpriced and no deal was weird 5 for $20. Something to make me think at minimum I wasn't being shaken down. Anywho if you're feeling like having an amazing burger. Yes yes come here. All the other stuff mentioned is just a " this happened too " read more

TLDR: decent food but expensive Edison diner is a classic - big menu of restaurant hits. I got the chicken cordon bleu sandwich, which had a healthy amount of chicken, ham, and cheese that hit the spot. It did feel a bit lacking - no contrast in textures from a crisp bread or chicken, no sauce to add different flavors - it was just the sum of its parts. The disco fries were delicious - perfect amount of gravy without making the fries soaking wet and a generous portion of mozzarella. The food was all good, but for entrees well over $20 I don't think it was worth it. I would come back if I was looking for something to eat late at night or for disco fries. read more

Came here for brunch with my cousin. The Edison Diner is beautifully decorated inside and had many options - which is one of my favorite things about diners. I had an iced coffee, buttermilk pancakes and oatmeal. I didn't photograph the pancakes because when they hit the table, I devoured them (lol) Our server was friendly and attentive to our needs. Thank you! Definitely would recommend if you are hungry and in the area. read more

I've been coming to Edison Diner since they used to be open 24/7! A cozy diner right off Rte 1 that serves large portions for basically everything including the sides. I think they've increased pricing across the menu because it definitely was not as $$$ -- ended up spending $100 for 3 people and one of us didn't even get an entree! Nonetheless, a great spot when you're craving just about anything. read more

Very bad. All of the bread they are using on their sandwiches is SO THICK, you can't even get the sandwich into your mouth! The grilled cheese wasn't grilled with butter. The bread just tasted toasted and very dry without any butter. The French fries were ICE COLD! They sat the four of us down to an extremely small booth and there was no room for plates and side dishes. When we first got there and seated, no one brought us menus. I had to get up and take my own menus. Very slow service. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THE EDISON DINER! I have been going there for years and I will never return. If I could give less than one star, I would!! read more

In the ten years I was a regular at the Edison diner always thought their service was top notch. Having to manage several chronic illnesses has kept me away for 8 years. The first time back I didn't expect be treated in such a degrading manner. There were barely any customers and I simply wanted to check their cakes and get a coffee to go. I ordered with the manage upfront and he immediately acted like I was wasting his time. I then asked a very common question what the frosting was on the red velvet cake. He rudely snapped back saying "just normal cake frosting," as if there was no other options. But I then asked if it was buttercream or cream cheese, when he replied with buttercream he had such a degrading attitude acting like cream cheese was such a ridiculous option. After paying $3 for a small coffee, I took a sip and noticed it had almost no coffee taste. I went back and mentioned it, he rudely said he didn't understand what I meant, insisting he'd been making the same coffee for 20 years, as if coffee could never be diluted then STRONGLY implying the issue was me. He brought out the second cup and the little cream I asked for looked almost translucent. I then calmly just asked for a refund. He muttered something under his breath and then almost flung the money at me like I was a piece of sh*t, telling me to never come back. Im still speechless at what happened. I don't think I've ever had anyone in my life treat me even close to the way he did. I feel as if the second I parked facing the entry door and hung my handicapped placard I was targeted read more

Two decades of being on the road, and two decades of visiting Edison. Great people and great food.

Service was okay. Our waiter was patient and attentive however staff kept staring at our party , it was my sister and I with our kids and well it felt pretty judgy. When we got up to pay it appeared as if the staring intensified as if they thought we would walk out on the table. Food was alright it's big portions , I mean considering how pricey it was I guess that's a plus. My daughter was not impressed by the buffalo wrap, the crab spinach and artichoke was okay not overly salty . The Pina colada was tasty and sweet however barely felt as if alcohol was in it. Ambiance this play is a bit like "upscale dining". Good for adults it seems as staff appears to not be fond of kids being present. I would probably not go back . read more

Huge variety on menu and very nice staff. Reminds me of old time diners with both booth seating as well at table seating. One of the few remaining diners in the area. They have a huge menu, it's hard to imagine they can stock so many different foods to fill the diverse meal options. Most of their dishes are massive but the marquee does advertise "small plates " ( though I did not readily see this option on the menu. I was happy to see they offered egg creams ( which were delicious). My blintzes were prepared beautifully and my wife's corned beef sandwich could have easily fed 3 people. I highly recommend this place and it's good to see , after being in business over 75 years it's still going strong. read more

Menu is huge, a little overstimulating. Server was polite and quick. Food was great. I would say this is one of my favorite diners.

Went for breakfast on Mother's Day so it was very busy but we only waited about 20 mins to be seated for a party of 3 so not bad. The food was good, service was ok (our server was a bit dry towards our 6 year old while placing his order but I assume it's maybe because it was so busy but she wasn't the friendliest). She gave us a kids menu that didn't have any breakfast items on it. The inside is your typical old school diner style which could use some updating. They have out a free rose to moms on the way out which was very sweet and thoughtful. read more

This place is always consistently good. The staff is friendly and the food is predictably good plus it's a convenient location right on rt 1. It's a cozy family diner and nothing overly trendy or flashy, if that's your vibe (it's definitely mine). I usually get the same things when I go, so I decided to branch out and tried the pesto chicken wrap and it was delicious. The pesto tasted fresh and garlicky and the chicken wasn't dry at all. First time here. Was looking for a "diner" and this establishment was a Yelp option. It's more like a restaurant atmosphere, not a retro diner. Service was slow however once we ordered it didn't take long for our food. I ordered matzo ball soup and a side of grape leaves. Hubby had a chicken gyro platter. My soup was served hot and the broth was very good. Grape leaves were good as well. Hubby salad that came with the meal, was great and his gyro was good. He said the chicken wasn't very tender and sandwich was okay. The french fries were good and coleslaw good as well. read more

There have been times where I've come here and really enjoyed this diner that I've never reviewed. I've always enjoyed their breakfasts. Haven't been in a while. Holy moly the prices are outrageous now. Over $20 for most of the sandwiches and paninis and over $28 for most entrees. Matzo ball soup was good but lackluster. Needed salt and pepper. Husband said the French onion had a good broth but it looked underwhelming Had the buffalo chicken wrap and split it. The curly fries tasted old, not freshly fried. The chocolate cake was incredibly dry. It kept crumbling. It was more reminiscent of carvel crunchies with how dry it was. It had really good flavor but the entire cake part was like eating gravel or sawdust. The icing made it edible. Service was meh - waiter barely spoke and wouldn't confirm anything. He got everything right but it was not a good time. read more

The Edison Diner holds a lot of memories for me and overall, the Edison Diner is still is a solid and viable choice for a meal. New Jersey is the undisputed diner capital of the world and the Edison Diner is a good representation of a New Jersey diner. Both the ambiance and service are what you would expect from a New Jersey diner. For me, coming into the Edison Diner brought back a lot of memories of growing up in this area and making memories with friends. Diners were a part of our nights out growing up in New Jersey. After a night out at the bars and nightclubs, before heading home, we would stop at a diner and enjoy what we always called "breakfast." It was food to be back in a place that holds memories. Edison, New Jersey has changed a lit over the years, but it is great to remember a familiar place and for a minute and a meal, to remember some amazing times. read more

Edison Diner is exactly what you want in a Jersey diner: fast service, generous portions, and a menu so big you need an intermission to read it all. I stopped by for a late brunch, and the place was buzzing but still comfortable with classic booths, chrome details, and that cozy hum of clinking plates and coffee cups. I ordered the New York Steak with onion rings, potaoe soup, mashed potatoes, and caesar salad. and everything came out hot and flavorful. The steak was perfectly salty, the potato soup was delicious, and the onion rings had that crispy edge I always hope for. Water refills were constant (thank you to our awesome server. We recently had breakfast at The Edison Diner and overall it was a good experience. The eggs, pancakes, and home fries were delicious, cooked just right and very satisfying. However, the bacon and sausage could use some major improvement - they weren't as flavorful as I'd hoped. (Actually they were terrible!, thick cut rubber bacon and state tasting horrible sausage) The service was excellent with attentive and friendly staff, the restaurant clean and well-maintained. (This preserved a star) I'll probably be back for the breakfast, though I will for sure skip both bacon and sausage Pancakes were magnificent maybe just eggs and pancakes next time Four stars! read more

I had a very pleasant experience at the Edison Diner. I went on a Wednesday morning around 9:40 AM. There's a spacious parking lot that goes around the whole building. When I arrived, the lot was pretty much empty, so I snagged a spot right in front of the doors. When I walked in, the host warmly greeted me with a friendly 'Good morning' and seated me right away in a booth. The diner was very clean, including the bathroom, and had a nice color scheme with a vintage vibe. Mary was my server, and she came over immediately to greet me and bring me water. She was attentive, fast, and made sure I didn't feel rushed. She checked in with me during the meal and always kept my glass of water full. I ordered the short stack of pancakes with two eggs, sausage links as my choice of meat, and orange juice. My food came out in less than 15 minutes. Everything was nice and hot, the pancakes were fluffy and buttery, the sausage links were cooked to a perfect golden brown, and the eggs were good, my only criticism is that I had asked for over medium but my eggs were more over easy. The pancakes were so big I started to wonder if I accidentally ordered the "stack for two"! I couldn't finish them and took the rest home as leftovers. At the end of the meal, you pay at the host stand, which takes both cash and credit/debit cards. My total meal was around $21 and change before tip, which was well worth it for the food, portions, service, and overall experience. The hostess even struck up a nice conversation with me as I paid, which left me feeling full and happy as I left. read more
