This no frills restaurant has a great breakfast menu (loved the corn beef hash) and is priced nicely! Place hasn't been cleaned since WW2 . If you wanna get terribly sick . This is the place for you. Even the utensils to cook haven't been cleaned and there's grime on them. The frier oil was black. The butter was left out on the counter . They have nothing but down time since they have no customers. Maybe clean up a little bit. I payed and left. I ain't eating that . lol read more

This is a home town breakfast place. The interior is set as a old fashion dinner.Located across from train station and not far from DMV and post office.. came in for breakfast be cause was early getting to DMV. Great breakfast spot. Everything made to order. So served hot and fast. The cook and server both friendly good at what they do. The over easy eggs and sausage were tasty with flavor. French toast was nothing special but hit the spot first thing in the morning. This is my spot. Its so close to home! When my mom first came to Edison, she would come here for breakfast. They became regulars and then she was pregnant with me. The owners were super sweet with her and to this day we stop in once a while to enjoy a good breakfast! Same great chef and the food is always good. Food served fast and hot. Outside sign says they serve dinner but paces closes at 3. Meatloaf Special is good, $8.99 with soup. Ask for the gravy on the side, otherwise it's drowning in it. Good soup, nice and hot. Like their greek salad. Cooking done in plain view behind the counter; love it. Good breakfast. Huge omelets, typical diner - big grill cooked - so they are browned (overcooked); good ingredients, tried the western and veggie. Excellent home fries. Fresh coffee. Great service from a veteran friendly crew. Place gets busy. Friendly customers are mostly regulars; a lot diversity on many levels - economic/racial which adds. Zero ambience but I'm OK with that. My husband, son and I walk in around 11:45am. We get no "hello" or no type of greeting. The waitress asks are we here for take out?! I asked her if there was a problem if we stayed? She then came to take our order after we sat ourselves down. Not friendly atmosphere. We we were the only African Americans in the place. It was freezing cold outside and freezing cold inside. No heat!! It's 27 degrees outside. They accept no debit or credit cards which is an inconvenience. No ATM IN SITE. Which you would think they would have one. Considering they don't except debit or credit cards. Horrible experience. read more

This is a quaint little, and very authentic, diner/restaurant. There are several daily specials as well as a long-enough menu with the diner standards and classics. You get the personal touch here, no sense of being just another customer. It sure seems like whatever you order is being prepared when you order it (not sitting around). The people are warm. It has a nice small-town vibe - and there's still a payphone in back. We went on 9/11 this year and glad we did as they have a framed picture of the Twin Towers on wall and the waitress wore a patriotic T-shirt. WONDERFUL, quiet family owned & operated restaurant with incredibly reasonable prices, high quality food, an exceedingly friendly staff and subdued yet jovial atmosphere. In short, almost everything I wish for in a breakfast/lunch apot. I'm giving it 5 Stars despite the room for improvement with the coffee (not bad at all, but could be better in my humble opinion) and the french toast, which if you knew how important coffee and to a much lesser extent french toast are to me, you'd understand how much I must really love the food, people & prices @ this place. I'd bet the farm that even after the prices are raised, which is likely long overdue, it'll still be amongst the most reasonably priced places around. ...and with better food than most to boot. I enjoyed a scruptious plate of mousaka (on special) and greek salad there this afternoon, which was such a treat as to compel me to write this review and share my delight with the peeps. Thank you Stelton Restaurant! P.S. I liked the mousaka and salad so much I took the same to my mom's house for her lunch. Her reaction? LOVED IT! Classic family run greasy spoon. Just driving by you might be a little hesitant to eat there but I would highly recommend it. I've only had the breakfast although the menu includes lunch food as well. I've recently been going here for breakfast and the food is very delicious. Their pancakes are phenomenal and so big. They give you a large amount of food. Service is good, I never had a problem. Stopped here with my son a few months back for breakfast after going to the near by DMV. Their breakfast is the only reason I gave them 2 stars. The guy can cook an egg and some potatoes... Yay! First and foremost is that the place is nearly empty. That says a lot during prime time for breakfast. The stool bottoms are so nasty looking and dirty that I almost just ordered coffee... TO GO! But like I said, the breakfast was cooked properly. I unfortunately had to go to DMV again this past Thursday and this time it was lunch time, 12:30 to be exact and again, the place was empty. I would comment on service, but there isn't any. We were not greeted (including when we went for breakfast), the menus are already on the tables, so it is completely up to you where you want to sit. It was kind of hard not to have the waitress come right away since we were the only people in the place. I chose to play it safe and just ordered a grilled cheese with tomato and some pork roll and a cup of chicken noodle soup. You can't really go wrong with that order, can you? Well you most certainly can! The soup was turning, and was bitter because of that. The tomato on my sandwich was disgustingly mushy and way over ripe. My son ordered a roast beef sandwich that came out gray through and through and was bone dry. He asked for some mayonnaise to help choke it down and was given a little cup that had the dried up congealed mayo that happens when it is left out too long, you know, the nasty yellow clumps? Yeah, THAT! Plus as others mentioned, this is a cash only diner. I'm sorry, but writing this made me relive it and now I am once again nauseous! The owner should retire and hire someone to run it for him. This is a great location as many people need to pass it going to DMV or the post office. What a shame of wasted spot! read more
