From my experience eating there the food was meh. Wish I could say that about employee hospitality.

If you venture off to any restaurant after church service on Sunday's early afternoon, if that restaurant is any good, usually there will be a wait. Fortunately for me, there was no wait at Firehouse Grill, but this is no indication of it being "no good" - rather it is an unassuming hidden gem off the beaten path. It's small, not good for groups, but as a family of four we always a find place to sit. Once again, Danielle was there to provide table service, and she man's the counter. It's just her and the cook there every time we visit. We always receive friendly service and walk away fully satisfied. read more

I ordered DoorDash delivery from here, and they left out my sandwich. I called to ask what happened and they said they took it off because they ran out of pastrami. I asked why they didn't call me to ask if I wanted something else, and she said we ran out of pastrami and took it off. I said yes, I get that, but why not call to see if I wanted something else. She said what's the big deal you're not being charged for it. We thought you got the notification. No I didn't. I AGAIN said you could've called and again said I don't know what you want we took it off. I said well that was my lunch and even though you took it off, I paid fees and a tip. Now I'd have to pay more fees and a tip to get another order. She said again with an attitude...well we took it off. I was super angry at that point and hung up. I'll never order there again. The food we did get was ok...and the fries that were $5 was a super small portion. Don't waste your money. read more

Had the crispy chicken blt today and was wonderful. The chicken was seasoned and fried to perfection. Like a fried chicken cutlet that was tenderized and place in the sandwich. Worst food ever. Served on paper plates. Seating was awful. The last booth is installed wrong. I am not a heavy person by all means, but the booth was far too small to get in and out of. The staff just looked at me while I wormed my way out. What a joke. Font go there read more

Been going here for a while now. Good service fair prices. Had the Chicken Caesar Wrap , little disappointed very small and had to look for the chicken lots of lettuce and crotons. My lady had the chicken wings big portions ( 10 wings ) She would have liked to be able to mix the flavors but it was only offered as sauce on the side if you wanted two flavors. The food is pretty standard and inline with other pictures on this site. This place keeps it simple and I am 100% about it. The onion rings and crispy chicken sandwich were exceptional. Pros: decent food, good prices, friendly staff. Cons: bathroom is nasty, staff sits and plays with phones while area just outside littered with trash. Burger was ok but bland. Cheesesteak was ok. Potential to be much better. read more

Huh, apparently Firehouse Grill is in not owned or in any way connected to the fire house department across the street so don't be fooled by their proximity! Came here Tuesday night for dinner. Small interior attempts an old-school diner look, just without the associated vibe and wear. Two workers were inside, one I'm assuming to be the cook since he cooked and prepped the food and kept to himself and a nice RU student who took our order and brought us the food. I got the JALAPENO CHEDDAR BURGER COMBO with bacon cheese fries and soda. While a pretty good deal, I gotta say this burger is mighty underwhelming. It's not a substantial burger in that the meat and cheddar lacked any semblance of flavor, both existing without presence. Patty is cooked well done (this is a joint that doesn't ask how you like your meat cooked). It's not dry but it's also not juicy. Dad commented the burger tastes synthetic to him, no meaty taste and like there's a higher proportion of bread crumbs in the meat mix. There's too little cheddar and the jalapenos are the jar kind with a quickly disappearing hint of spicyness but no tangy kick. All this wedged between a light, thin kaiser roll with a thin and crinkly crisp exterior. For once, underwhelming looking food in pictures actually matches how the food tastes. It's a burger you eat because you paid money for it, not wanting to waste it, rather than for pure enjoyment. So if you have a burger craving, I wouldn't come here. Fries were the best thing about this combo with that addictive gooey fake cheese and bacon bits. You can't go wrong with that, though I don't think the fries were made in house and are more likely frozen based on the color, taste, texture and density of the fries. I guess this is what you get for bang for buck. It's a 2.75 star meal rounded up to a 3. This may change once I give one other burger a try and also their breakfast items. read more

I live right around the corner and used to go to the White Star Diner, which used to be in this location--Firehouse is MUCH better. It's cleaner inside, the food is better, and the service is fast. Great breakfast food (although it's not all day, which I'd like) and solid burgers. Not that impressed by the chocolate milkshakes since they're essentially just soft serve ice cream with chocolate sauce mixed in by hand (even though they have an electric stir). Love the cheese and bacon fries though. My friends and I wish they had some kind of online ordering, but that's just because my generation doesn't like making phone calls or interacting with people. read more

Firehouse Grill is one of the best new businesses to come into the South Plainfield area. They are clean, friendly and affordable. Their breakfasts are some of the best in town (if you haven't tried their pancakes you need to now!). Usually this place is good but i always go on Saturday night. I went today on a Sunday and there is a new cook who is ok but the waiter is terrible. Our wings came with bbq sauce instead of hot sauce and then the cook just poured some other random sauce on the wings. It took her several try's just to get drinks for 3 people. This clean and cozy restaurant keeps true to its firehouse theme. No fuss and no frills here. Don't expect extras beyond what is on the menu. A limited menu, with decent good. Not a bad place to go to but there are a better options in the area. The staff is pleasant and the atmosphere is friendly. I had a cheese stake and I wasn't too impressed. The sandwich had a nice roll with a lot of lettuce but certainly came up short in the department of meat and cheese. If I go back I will try their dogs. I saw a few of them come out and they looked pretty good enough to go back and try even after a slightly disapointing sandwich. read more

For my purposes, a solid place to go for basic fare. Burgers, fries, BLT's (either on a bun or in a wrap), Chicken Ranch Wrap are our favorites. Their mozzarella sticks are also really good. I would like to see them put more appetizers on the menu, and I was not crazy about the chili they used on the chili cheese hot dogs (the chili needed to be a bit spicier), but other than minor item I would definitely recommend going. As far as breakfasts are concerned, I haven't gotten enough of them so it be unfair of me to review them. read more

This is located where the old White Star Diner used to be in South Plainfield. The burgers are primo and the breakfast sandwhiches, which have a range of ingredients are only $3.00ea. The stuff is friendly and the service is fast. I'm tried most things on the menu and have enjoyed everything I've had. The food is decent & cheap, however the place itself needs some updating. Their fountain dispensers have been broken for some time.
