pork roll egg and cheese on white and home fries.

I've been coming to Bill's since I was a little girl. Every time I come home to Jersey I try to make it here at least one morning for breakfast. I brought my boyfriend here so he could try some ancient diner goodness. The waitresses have been here for as long as I can remember and the place hasn't changed one bit. The food still remains extra freakin good, cheap and quick. I don't need to look at the menu because 9 times of out 10 I'm getting home fries with a pork roll, egg and cheese sandwich and a side of orange juice and a glass of water with no ice. I remember coming here as a kid with my grandfather and some of the same old men still come here. It's nice to see familiar faces. I don't see Bill's ever changing and I hope they don't. I know my food will always be awesome and I'll always get a friendly smile and that's all that matters to me. See ya next time I'm home!

Now this is my favorite Breakfast spot around. I've been coming here for years. Amazingly enough the food never changes. Service is always great. Waffles and French toast is the best around. Definitely a go to spot if you're in the area. Sit down and enjoy breakfast, or take it to go. Either way you won't be disappointed.

Two scrambled eggs with turkey bacon and home fries. The eggs were more like an omelette but still yummy!

A $23.00 bill for three hearty breakfast plates is amazing these days! Went here with a group of six, which I don't recommend because the largest tables only seat four. We got lucky getting two booths next to each other because the place was super packed. They were quick to take our orders and prepare the food. The menu has standard diner/cafe type entrees. Breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, and sides. I ordered two scrambled eggs with turkey bacon and home fries, and surprisingly it wasn't greasy or overly salty. I really enjoyed my meal. I guess the only issue was my scrambled eggs weren't scrambled but solid like an omelette. Still delicious though.

Good, low cost breakfast! It's crowded on the weekends, so I usually call in my order and pick up.

It is a very nice restaurant; Large, but not overbearing. I could see going here either on date night, or with 2 more couples. Our server Patrick was fantastic from the beginning of the night, straight through to the end. He was friendly, and very efficient. Chef/owner Scott came out from the kitchen to greet us and other patrons, and was gracious to everyone. Onto the food. The Duck Tacos and Mussels were very tasty. I think I might put a call into Chef and have him make me a bottle of that Mussels sauce to take home with me. Then came the crisp Caesar Salad, which kept everything bright. To finish, we had the Black Cod and Duck Confit, both of which were very well balanced and cooked perfectly. Oh, and the Guava-glazed Brussels Sprouts were a perfect side. Next time, I want to try one or two of their desserts. All-in-all, we had a great experience, and the night was a success. Chef, see you soon. I might just bring a large mason jar for some sauce!..

That's why I was actually excited and hopeful to find a restaurant in Garwood that might offer a similar experience. Unfortunately, our first impression left a lot to be desired. We arrived without a reservation and were told by the maître d' that there would be at least a two-hour wait. While I understand that restaurants get busy, the way the information was delivered felt unnecessarily dismissive. We were then directed toward the bar, where we attempted to find a place to sit. Just as we were about to sit down, the owner told us that those seats had been reserved for someone else. We went back to speak with the maître d', but the interaction and attitude at that point were unpleasant enough that we decided to leave. To his credit, the owner ultimately offered us a table outside, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, by then, the overall experience had already left us feeling unwelcome, and we decided it wasn't worth staying. I'm sure the food may very well be excellent, and perhaps we simply caught the restaurant on an off night. But a great dining experience starts well before the food reaches the table. There are plenty of restaurants where I'm happy to spend my money, and I don't expect special treatment--just basic courtesy and hospitality. Hopefully others have a better experience, but based on ours, we won't be returning.

The restaurant is small and comfy, with 4-seat tables lined up against one wall and the opposite wall being taken up by a counter and counter seats. Pictures of food hang on both walls and four brown ceiling fans hang from the ceiling. The restaurant's color scheme is very "latte", as the main colors are white and beige and only one part of the wall is red. Daughter ordered the fried flounder with 2 over easy eggs and grits with wheat bread. She said that the fish was nicely fried and crunchy. It didn't need tartar or cocktail sauce. She said it was her first time eating a breakfast item like this and her taste buds had never felt this sensation before. LOL. Hubs ordered the pinto con chorizo with sunny side up eggs. The server warned him that the sausage was spicy, but he didn't care. When we came here, Hubs didn't expect Hispanic food for brunch and was so surprised and so happy. He found the first item that he can see and translate and was happy he did. The chorizo had a nice spunk to it. He was happy that he got rice and beans instead of home fries and what a delightful change! The chips were also nice and crispy. Lastly, I had waffles with mixed fruit. I LOVED my waffles because it was nice and crunchy. The mixed fruit were bananas, strawberries, grapes and blueberries. They were a nice touch. I was asked if I wanted whipped cream and I said yes. Coffee was freshly brewed and it was nice and strong. It wasn't ordinary diner coffee. Hubs was happy about getting his cup refilled. Service was fast and really friendly.
