I really wanted to like Khokha. It's not bad, and I will consider it for the right time and crowd I'm serving for. But it's not for me, personally. The spice factor, this was the turn off. It was way more spicy than anticipated. The tikka mac and cheese, can't be adjusted and they told me this at the counter. So no surprises here. Despite that, the flavor just wasn't there. The cheese tasted grainy, not creamy and smooth and kind of tangy. Was it the tikka sauce? No idea but again, the flavor just didn't hit for what I was expecting. Honestly, nothing still compares to Smac in the LES- the OG and still good (not halal though I believe). The dish did taste better the next day I will say. The shredded beef roll, again, the taste was off. The coleslaw wasn't marrying well. This one I ordered mild, and whoa was it spicy! and I can handle some heat, but this dish also was just not good to me. I will say the interior of the restaurant is beautiful, great for groups. I saw some young college kids, who I think this type of place is perfect for. The ordering process was easy, staff were nice. It looks clean and spacious, located at a strip mall so there's ample parking.
I hadnt been to this place in a little while and decided to go back. It looked different to me on the inside however everyone was so inviting. I was asked if was picking up which I wasnt. I didnt catch the young lady's name who helped me but she was amazing. I asked her recommendations on everything. She was super sweet. I ordered the Australian lamb chops with fries and chatpatay wings. The wings are spicy so if thats not your thing, do not get them. I will definitely be back.
Medium sized venue in a strip mall area, so plenty of free parking. You can order at the kiosk or with the staff. Fast & friendly service, happy to answer any menu or cultural questions you may have. They also do have a prayer area on site. The space has a nice clean & modern look with darker tones & green accents, so it's oddly relaxing. They have an area with complimentary water, Yemonade (not a typo), & Masala fries. I didn't try the fries from there, cause while they do have tongs, I saw someone just pick some up by hand. I had the Smash burger, New Zealand lamb chops, & [ordered] Masala Fries (seasoned fries). All were very good and enjoyable. I would definitely come back. Hope you like it hot. I needed a quick bite for lunch while working in the area and came across Khokha. The burger place with a Pakistani flavor profile intrigued me way too much to pass it up. I got the Crispy Chicken Burger at the recommendation of the staff, calling it their House Special. They asked my spice preference, and knowing this would likely skew spicy, I opted low. This was the correct decision. Even on low spice levels, the spice is apparent. It was flavorful and a good amount of heat without the heat drowning out the profile of the burger. The burger itself was crispy as advertised and what you would expect from a quick bite burger. The sauce and spice is what carries it. I also got the burger with a side of Masala fries. These also have a good amount of kick to them and we're actually spicier than the burger. I did enjoy them quite a lot though. Washing it down with a Mango Lemonade, which was sweet and refreshing. If you enjoy heat and burgers, Khokha is a great change of pace.
Everything is so so so good and made fresh to order. Nice eating area inside and very clean. Definitely recommend the chicken sandwich and loaded fries.
Our second time. This time, I want to taste again how good this place is. I brought my eldest this time coz she is another foodie. This place didn't disappoint. The place is cute and clean. The food: The wagyu beef patty is good. My husband ordered the pulled beef in homemade paratha and it is so delicious and really spicy. I ordered the Australian lamb and once again I'm in love with it. Lastly, we each have those delicious drinks that are hard to say but gets into your brain as it is so milky and delicious. Like the Falooda kulfi with rose, pistachio, basil seeds, tapioca and noodles which is every bit worthy to drive all the way from VA. Thanks for the great experience Khokha. And thanks Nydia for making the magic happen.
Open airy dining hall bright and colorful ambiance Tasty fresh food & quick service This spot checks off all boxes for me . Fluffy fried poori , mild yet flavorful chick peas curry and a lightly sweetened halwa was a hit pair . The fried chicken wrap with a mild Khoka sauce was an explosion in my mouth . I couldn't resist this wrap . It was the marriage of a great crispy fried chicken with a delicious sauce all wrapped up in a paratha bread . A great fast food option the area to try . There is something for everyone. You have chicken, Beef and Egg as protein options , served as a Burger Paratha wrap , sandwich. Wings , Bowl or platter and Poori plate .
I came to Khokha several times before I began writing reviews and would have given them a 5/5....however service today was beyond poor. First is the obvious excuse they gave for making us wait 45 minutes for their chicken paratha roll. No problem if it was backed up but 10-15 people after my friend who ordered got all sorts of orders delivered to them....some had the chicken paratha roll too. They just gave the excuse without checking the back "they are making the order" how would they know if you didn't ask the back or check the receipts anywhere?? Blatant lie. Turns out they might have forgotten her order and couldn't find our table. Another issue is how they cut the cheese melt. Who cuts it the LONG way? I was embarrassed I recommended this to my friends. Final issue is that their spice levels have changed entirely. Before a three would be intense but I had the four and it was extremely weak... The spice Khokha provided when they first opened made them stand out. I hope they bring it back. The place does have great food, it's amazing. Despite all the problems. The food is King. Spice is something they can bring back but the flavors are authentic and flavorful. No where else will you get the flavors but an establishment needs to have standards of service in other departments.
This was my first time trying Khokha. Khokha is a Pakistani American street style food restaurant and it is zabiha halal. When you first enter the restaurant you can either order at the counter or at the kiosk. I placed my order at the kiosk and took a number and once my food was ready it was brought to my table. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Burger which came with pickles, coleslaw, and their signature sauce. I also got to try a bite of their Wagyu Burger which came with chimichurri, jalapeño aioi and romaine lettuce. Both were super good and super messy. I don't know about ya'll but something about a messy burger hits the spot for me. I also ordered some loaded fries to share. The loaded fries I got this time around was the loaded fries jalapeño smash. All I can say is I definitely threw down. Overall, it was easy to order. The food came out at a reasonable time. My food was nice and hot. The overall appearance of the inside of the restaurant was clean. The only area in the restaurant that needed a little more attention was the restrooms.
Ordered the smash burger, husband got the chicken sandwich, we shared the Halwa Puri and a small masala fries! All for takeout. Hey! I was hungry haha. It was delicious! The burger was a bit on the saltier side but I would say the star is the Halwa Puri, comes with three dips and 2 of which are a bit spicer and the 3rd one is sweet. The puri was nice and crunchy. I loved the flavor. Great quick service. They have a well run operation of someone at the front, someone to check the orders coming out from the kitchen before they go to the tables or for to go, and the kitchen staff. It's chill, can get kinda crowded. We've been here once before and couldn't find a table but were able to sit at the small bar by the register. Very friendly.
Definitely a place worth trying! It was so clean and simple inside. Plenty of tables for anyone who comes and eats in. I do wish they had smaller menus by the register to look at while ordering instead of the one big screen to the side. It was cool to see the big screens though with the food they serve. I got the crispy chicken loaded fries hold their special sauce. I enjoyed my dish but did wish the fries were a bit crispier. Towards the end, the fries did get soggy with all the cheese and chutney sauce sitting on them. It did have a nice kick to them still without the special sauce. My two other friends enjoyed their meals as well. For their special sauce you can change the spice level. My friend got the medium level and thought that was very spicy so beware.

Delicious!! The food and service were excellent. We ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, masala fries, Big Cheese Chicken, and the paratha pulled beef roll. Each dish was packed with flavor. The crispy chicken sandwich was perfectly cooked, with a super crispy coating that stayed intact (always a good sign!). The masala fries were seasoned just right. When we ordered the paratha pulled beef roll, the staff gave us a heads-up that it was a bit spicy but it turned out to be really spicy, so keep that in mind if you're sensitive to heat. The restaurant itself was well-maintained, and the staff did a great job keeping everything clean and tidy. read more

This was my first time trying Pakistani-American food, and I couldn't have picked a better place to do it. I was really excited to step outside my comfort zone and try something completely new. We ordered the Kulfi Shake, Chatpatay Wings, Salam Cola, Masala Fries, and a Paratha Roll. What surprised me the most was the spice leve. I definitely wasn't expecting that much heat! But every bite was packed with bold, authentic flavor. The standout dish was easily the Chatpatay Wings. They were buttermilk-marinated, perfectly breaded, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and absolutely fucking delicious. They were hands down my favorite thing we ordered. The Kulfi Shake was rich, creamy, and the perfect way to cool off after all the spice. The Salam Cola was fun to try, and the Masala Fries and Paratha Roll were both flavorful and satisfying. read more

I typically breakdown each food item I get but will skip this time around because EVERYTHING was fantastic! I was so impressed! The wings, the pulled beef, the chicken sandwhich, the beef burger, the fries- everything was so scrumptious! Chai was perfect. You can also get a slider for smaller portions or a burger for a standard portion. Prices are cheap! Combo options are awesome for those who can't decide. The service was great, they let us bring in a birthday cake for post dinner. The food came out relatively fast! It's a super clean restaurant with cool art work in frames on the wall. Wish I lived closer, I'd definitely come more often. If I am in the area, I'll swing by again. Amazing! read more

I ordered the big cheese with pulled beef which was served with a chutney to dip in. I thought it was yummy and so were the wings. However we also ordered a Shikanjabeen (Pakistani lemonade) but it was so small and for $5 we're expecting a little more. The chai was however rlly tasty. The Anda Shami was kind of basic and just wish there was a bit more of a kick to it (just didn't really stand out to us). The overall vibe of the restaurant inside was nice and cute though. read more

Khoka in Piscataway, NJ where Pakistani meets American fusion. I did takeout but the ambiance is clean and modern. The service though brief, was very helpful and good. The spicy talk is the food! I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, loaded fries with pulled beef, anda shami (chicken and chickpea patty with egg omelet), and their smash burger (2 beef patties). This can come with their Khoka sauce which is HOT and yummy. Definitely ask for it on the side. The food was different yet good. I'd order again - just next time I'd get the loaded fries with crispy chicken - pulled beef wasn't my favorite. read more

Been waiting for this place to open and drove past it today. It was open! Lol I've been wondering what type of food or service they were going to offer. Walked in and place is spacious and clean. They serve halal burgers, rolls, fries, shakes. I ordered the veggie burger and masala fries. Veggie burger naked style (meaning the lowest amount of spice). They have 4 different spice levels. Masala fries were good! Liked the seasoning but a bit salty for my tastebuds (I don't eat that much salt). But they were good dunked in ketchup! :) veggie burger naked style was interesting. I like how they placed their own cultural spin on it! It had a mint chutney sauce to it. It was super good! Nice and light and flavorful! Service was great! Host was super friendly and explained to me certain flavors and the level of spicy. I'll have to come back and try their kalifi (spelling?) shake! I've had the ice cream and it was good! It was definitely nice to have something different! Definitely recommend this spot if you want to try an Indian spin on American classics! :) read more
We went to khokha a couple of more times after our initial visit and an update was due. This time around the food was absolutely delicious and I felt the need To bump up my previous 4 star rating to 5 star. We again ordered the following items: Khokha fries 5/5 Nashville hot sandwich 5/5 Pulled beef sandwich. 5/5 Khokha fries were absolutely del ious. Chopped duo jalapeños. Chutney and their sauce with chicken smothered on the French fries. I got the cheese on the side. Nashville chicken sandwich was a classic. Chunky tender juicy chicken breast with the fixings. It was very well seasoned and I could feel the tingling sensation on my lips with the hot level. Pulled beef sandwich was very good. The meat was tender and delicious. And finely chopped with the fixings. Plenty of space to sit and a wonderful experience. read more

The price point is too high. The burger however, was fantastic. The sauce on the burger is SO good. The masala fries are cool. The chai milkshake was nice. The chicken wrap.... Wasn't worth 13$! The size and quality wasn't giving 13 and some change. read more

Trendy, fusion Pakistani place. The cheese fries were a little soggy but tasty nonetheless. Ordered the crispy chicken paratha medium spice and it made me sweat. Chicken was indeed crispy, lots of slaw, and wet from the sauce/chutney combo. The star of the show were the smokin wings. These were the biggest wings I have ever seen. Covered in so much sauce that was high sweet and spicy. Might be a top 3 wing I've had. Usually these fusion places do too much, but they have it all figured out. read more

This is the perfect spot to meet up with friends and get a bunch of things to try! I got the pulled beef grilled cheese, pulled beef burger, and loaded fries with chicken. For dessert, I had the chai ice cream (didn't get a picture because I inhaled it) and it was so good! I have to go back just to have it again. "Khokha" is a Punjabi term for a roadside kiosk that sells snacks. The name reminds me of my blissfully youthful years spent in a land far, far away, when my stomach could handle copious quantities of food, high levels of spiciness, and water that had never been within the environs of a purification plant. This restaurant, located in a nondescript suburban area of Piscataway NJ, is not quite a khokha. But it is delightful all the same. The guys who work here are some of the kindest, most gracious people I have met in recent years. The food is on the spicy side, and they give you fair warning about that. The khokha sauce is offered at 4 levels of spiciness. Mild is my preference. It has just the right amount of kick to it. Everything I have tried here is a mix of bold flavors and interestingly complex textures. The pulled beef sandwich, with coleslaw and onions, combines smokiness and spiciness with creamy and crunchy textures. The crispy chicken paratha roll looks like a snack, but is very hearty and can be a rather filling meal. The anda shami bun kabab is the perfect mix of tanginess and heat. The omelet has spicy mint chutney whisked into the beaten egg. The halwa poori (brunch item) is simply fantastic! The velvety sooji halwa (semolina pudding) feels like a warm hug in my mouth, especially on a cold NJ winter morning. Oh, and the chai! I now wake up every morning with a hankering for the chai from Khokha! Khokha is really the only reason for me to take the trek out to Piscataway, New Jersey. read more
I ordered The Modern Burger for delivery at work a few days ago. I found this restaurant on TikTok and wanted to give it a shot. It is a plant based burger with melted cheddar cheese, grilled tomato, the special Khokha sauce and mint chutney. The plant based patty was juicy and perfectly grilled. The Khokha sauce was super spicy and added tons of flavor to the burger. The mint chutney adds an amazing Indian touch to the burger. However, the burger is overpriced as you additionally have to order a side dish. The service wasn't the best because my friend ordered cheese sauce on the side and they completely forgot it. read more
