Classic with Provolone and Banana Peppers

These cheesesteaks are everything! Let's start with the bread, where so many cheesesteaks go wrong. This sesame seed coated rolls are just right. Its slightly crusted exterior gives way to a soft but sturdy interior perfect for soaking up the juices of the premium shaved rib eye without turning into a sopping oil sponge. And about that shaved rib eye? That is some quality meat! Full of flavor and light on grease. The cheese options are plentiful: cheddar, american, cheese wiz, provolone and pepper jack. I went for the classy provolone and added some sweet-n-spicy banana peppers (pro tip: add the peppers!). I ate so slowly because I didn't want to last bite to come. A word to the wise, there is no seating inside. All orders are to-go, so plan accordingly. There is a narrow bar, but that's usually packed with people waiting for their cheese steaks to emerge from the kitchen (which can take a little while, but hey, you can't rush perfection).

We got this doordashed to our hotel and it was really good. My son wished he got a cheesesteak too and kept taking bites of mine haha

The classic cheesesteak with no onions, pepperjack and cheddar cheese plus the extra cheese option.

This was bomb! I will definitely be looking forward to ordering from here again. (Adding a few more characters because it asked me to)

If you are looking for something quick and deliciously filling, look no further. My cousins and friends were really craving cheesesteaks, and luckily Heavyweights just opened up in the area, so we stopped by. This local gem specializes in quality Halal cheesesteaks that are both hearty and flavorful. Upon walking in, we found the atmosphere at Heavyweights Cheesesteak to be casual and welcoming, perfect for a quick bite or a laid-back meal with friends. If you want to dine inside, there is a bar area where you can stand and eat. With six of us, we decided to order different thing so we could sample a wide variety of items. The staff was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and accommodating- they even cut the cheesesteaks into six pieces so we could all share everything. The food came out very quickly and we ordered a lot of food! We ordered the following menu items: - Loaded Steak Fries: Shaved ribeye, cheese wiz, onions, with a drizzle of house sauces - Parmesan Garlic Fries - Beef Sliders - Patty Melt: Two smashed patties, American cheese, onion, grilled peppers, and mayo And for the cheesesteaks, we ordered a heavyweight of the following: - The Classic: Freshly shaved ribeye, Cooper sharp cheese, onions, and mayo - The Works: Freshly shaved ribeye, wiz, onions, grilled peppers, mushrooms, and mayo - The Firecracker: Freshly shaved ribeye, pepper jack, onions, habaneros, grilled peppers, and spicy mayo - The Buffalo Ranch: Buffalo chicken, ranch, provolone, and onions Each item had the perfect ratio of ingredients and the portions were very generous (excellent value with portions that reflect both quality and quantity). We loved every item we tried and were thrilled to find a place where we don't need to go all the way down to Philly for a decent cheesesteak. In fact, I prefer Heavyweights over any Philly cheesesteak spot I've tried. The ingredients at Heavyweights are top quality--take the bread, for instance. They use bread from Rockland Bakery, one of my favorite bakeries, and its texture is perfect: tender enough to bite into easily, yet robust enough to hold all the delicious fillings without falling apart or becoming soggy. The crust has the right chew to it with the interior remaining light and fluffy making each bite just that much more enjoyable. The meat was cooked to perfection with the perfect balance of fat and meat (most other cheesesteak spots, I find it to be way too greasy) and sliced thinly to ensure it cooks evenly and retains its juiciness. If I had to pick a favorite cheesesteak, I'd go with The Classic. The Cooper sharp cheese on it is outstanding; the sharpness complements the meat and onions nicely. But honestly, you can't go wrong with any of their options, it just really depends on what you are in the mood for. I also never had chicken cheesesteak before, and I was surprised with how delicious it was. If you are looking for a lighter option, definitely go with the chicken. You can also make substitutions to the default cheese, with choices including Provolone, American, White Cheddar, Cooper Sharp, Cheese Wiz, Pepper jack, and extra cheese. We also ordered all the sauces to try (Spicy Ketchup, Ranch, Smash Sauce, Garlic Aioli and Spicy Mayo), they were all good but honestly each menu item is so flavorful to begin with, it's not a necessity but more of a nice to have. I do have to say that the Patty Melt paired with Garlic Aioli was phenomenal. We had such a great experience here from start to finish and we're already looking forward to our next visit to explore more of their menu (that we weren't able to fit in our bellies this time!). Heavyweights has definitely earned a spot on my list of must-visit/go-to spots and I can't wait to go back when I'm in the area!

Philly is an hour away, south Jersey spots 30 min away, save time and come to heavyweights cheesesteaks in New Brunswick. They did their homework on the top Philly spots and made them their way. Cooper sharp ftw!

Large (aka Heavyweight) Cheesesteak w/ Cooper Sharp & Onions

Came here on their 2nd day open. The photos of their food on Instagram show big, loaded cheesesteaks that live up to their namesake "Heavyweights." Unfortunately, that's not what I got for $16, which is the price of their large (aka Heavyweight) cheesesteak. The steak itself is delicious, and I love seeing Cooper Sharp cheese this far north in NJ (it's usually just a South Jersey thing)! But my cheesesteak was small (3/4 of a pound with the bread), not much onion, and the extra sauces I paid for were half full. I'll be back again when I'm craving that Cooper Sharp cheese, but I'll need to order double meat and double onion just to get a true "Heavyweight" sized amount, which is over $20.

I've been putting off trying this place for so long mainly because this taco place right across the street that I eat at often however I decided to give this place a try and boi oh boy I can't believe I was shutting myself out of this place for so long this may just be my new favorite place in New Brunswick. The food was amazing service was fast although had to go ambience. I wish they had some seating so I can enjoy it there rather than driving home any of my food there but nonetheless, it was well worth it. The Cooper Sharp cheese is to die for they know just what to do when it comes to making cheesesteaks great job. Glad you guys are in town.

A short walk later, I found myself at Destination Dogs, a place I had seen in photographs that suggested capaciousness. In reality, it is smaller.  This is not a complaint, just an observation.  I remember once hearing something about the contents of small packages. At 12:30 the place was full. Packed with humanity and appetite. I was seated quickly, as if someone had anticipated my hunger in advance. From the bar came the sound of construction crews discussing their midday rituals. Apparently this is where they come on Fridays, to repair themselves while they repair the city. It explained everything. Service was swift and attentive, a minor miracle given the crowd. I began with a Scotch egg, an item that seemed to have wandered in from another story entirely. I ordered it for that reason. I had always imagined my first Scotch egg would be eaten in an English pub under low ceilings and older regrets. Instead, here it was. Perfectly crisp, warm, and generous. The universe does not ask for permission. Then came the main event. The menu is an atlas of hot dogs. Domestic. International. Proteins in tube form arranged like possibilities. There is even an invitation to build your own, which I accepted. I attempted to recreate a favorite from Crif Dogs, a thing called the Spicy Redneck. Bacon wrapped dog. Pickled jalapenos. Coleslaw. Simple in theory. Destination Dogs improved upon it in every way that matters. The bacon crisped with purpose. The jalapenos spoke clearly. The coleslaw behaved. The hot dog itself seemed proud to be there. All of this, plus a 16 ounce beer, cost me about twenty five dollars with tip. A small price for order in a chaotic universe. Five stars. Not because perfection exists, but because this comes close enough to make the argument.

Fun spot with awesome dogs and great vibes!…read more This place is such a cool restaurant/bar that feels like a local staple for sure. The staff is super friendly and know their way around the (very large) menu. Honestly, they have a hot dog or sausage combo for just about everyone. I let the bartender pick for me, and she nailed it. She chose an all-beef dog that was basically a Big Mac in hot dog form. I was skeptical at first, but wow this hit in all the right ways. Awesome presentation, even better flavor. I could've easily eaten three of these. I also tried the onion rings, the bartender warned me they were just "meh," and she wasn't wrong, lol. For round two, I went with an all-beef dog topped with pastrami this is basically a Reuben-style dog. Another win! Great flavor, great presentation. Overall, I'd totally recommend Destination Dogs if you're in the area. Just a heads up, if there's a game on, it gets loud. Like "can't-hear-your-friend-next-to-you" loud. But if that's your vibe, you'll love it.
