Come famished, with a few friends and likely drunk but then leave thoroughly satiated and with great stories and memories. The Fat Darrell was ranked the #1 sandwich in the country in 2004 by Maxim magazine and is still a favorite over 2 decades later. It is filled with chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, french fries, and marinara sauce. There are 33 meaty sandwiches to choose from and an additional 6 as vegetarian options. I stumbled on this late night haunt on a stressful night having to take a kid to the hospital. Comfort food was the order of the night. Not knowing what to expect, they were the only spot open at 2am on a Sunday night. Wings and fries were greatly appreciated. My purpose of this review is not the food so much, which was good btw. But the fact that they were open. I was hesitant at first to come to the restaurant because I knew it just wouldn't be the same.. Well, R U Hungry has managed to keep the spirit of the Grease Truck alive inside their cozy, dine in, restaurant. I am grateful for all of the now nostalgic details they kept and most of all, the original menu items - Fat Knight for me always! All of the trucks used to be in one lot that made for a rowdy 3 AM crowd and I am pretty sure that is exactly why they had them disperse. Now they are scattered all over the campuses, still open all day and night. My go to was always the one by the College Ave library. They are quick. they are HUGE, they are tasty. Basically they have every combo you could ever want. Moz sticks, fries, chicken fingers, gyro meat, literally you name it and they have a sandwich created for it. They are food trucks, so you won't find places to sit but it's Rutgers! If you are on College Ave, they have that row of tables across from Au Bon Pain or you can go to the grassy area outside the Zimmerli. There are always cute little nooks to hang out on and enjoy your 1500 calorie regret. (Just kidding) ((Not kidding)).
