Being old school, I remember Hansel 'n Griddle from their days in a small hole in the wall on the side street. I was happy to see it's grown and evolved. I stopped in to this location and while in the past I would grab the Rajun Cajun wrap but this time, I tried the Greek salad with Cajun chicken and the seasoned potato wedges. Ok I had no business getting the potato wedges because I'm on a diet but they were amazing. They were perfectly seasoned and bomb with some ketchup. The Greek salad was pretty good as well. The salad was plentiful. I got it with the homemade balsamic vinaigrette which was a perfect addition. The chicken on the Greek salad was not the best. It was rubbery like microwaved chicken. Hansel n Griddle will always be a great lunch spot with sandwiches, salads, and wraps. Their large menu makes it a good choice lunch options. The service, however, is not the best. Hansel N Griddle is a very modern approach to a diner. When first approaching the restaurant, I was wondering if I was in the right place, as all the other diners I've been to were much older. Hansel N Griddle has a wide range of menu items, many of which are not on a traditional diner menu. I ordered the buffalo burger, which was surprisingly really good. I asked for the patty to be cooked medium rare, which they cooked perfectly. The burger came alongside a pickle side and home fries. I am generally a huge fan of fries, but these ones were a bit disappointing as they were thick, and the middle of the fry was mushy and bland. The staff were friendly, and the restaurant is open late at night (I went around 11 pm). Overall, I thought the burgers were great, the fries could be better, but were satisfactory. 8/10. read more

I stopped by Hansel 'n Griddle around 3:45 PM after a short 10-minute walk from my apartment. Parking in the area is easy, and there wasn't much of a crowd, so I got my food quickly. The server was friendly, welcoming, and helpful from the start. I ordered the Honey BBQ Panini, which came with grilled chicken breast, crispy bacon, Cajun home fries, and melted cheddar and jack cheese topped with homemade honey BBQ sauce. The chicken was juicy, and the sauce added the perfect sweet-smoky flavor. Even though I'm not usually a fan of wedges, I really enjoyed them here. Prices are affordable I only spent $22.12, portions are filling, and the menu has plenty of variety. Next time I'll try the fried Oreos! I am the parent of a Junior student at Rutger's. She is a transfer student from Northern California. My husband and I were told about your restaurant by our daughter and we were anxious to try it the next time we were in New Jersey, which was today. The three of us went in at approximately 2:00 pm, Friday, 10/21/22, and placed our order with a young, slightly built woman with very short hair. She was pleasant enough when we placed our order. We sat down and by 2:30 our order hadn't arrived so I asked my husband to go up to the counter and inquire. When he asked , the same woman gestured with her hands that it would be coming. Another 15 minutes went by and I noticed food being brought out to a table that had only recently sat down. Eventually, the same woman brought out our three meals and I told her that our service was very bad. Instead of apologizing or anything resembling an apology, she said, "We had a lot of catering orders to make". When I also said that other patrons who arrived after us were served before us, she didn't answer and walked away. It takes a lot for me to sit down and write a review like this. I'm sure this woman thought that her response to me was fine, but it was not. By the way, my husband called to speak to you at about 11:00 pm this evening and was informed that you were "on your way out the door and on the phone". I'm sure you don't need our patronage and might brush this review off, and I will say, the food we ordered was good, but owning a successful business in San Francisco myself, I know that customer service is paramount for returning customers. It doesn't look like much, being square and all, but the meat chunks were tender and sliced just right, with the gooey cheese spaced out evenly with the tangy BBQ sauce. There wasn't a parking lot on site, which is surprising given that the establishment is in the center of New Brunswick. That wasn't a problem, though, because we were able to find free parking near the restaurant on a side street. My cousin and I attended, and the total cost, including tip, was around $25. The food was still good even though the setting wasn't what you usually expect when you go to a restaurant. After getting our drinks from the refrigerator and placing our food order at the counter, we selected a table to sit at. Our lunch was delivered to the table after a ten-minute wait. My cousin ordered a steak crisp, and I chose bacon and buttermilk pancakes. Like a quesadilla, I would characterize the "crisp" as one of their specialties. It was tasty. I went to the "Free Pickles" sign, which looked tempting, while I was waiting for the lunch. I've never seen anything like that at a restaurant in New Brunswick, let alone any place.With its vibrant green walls, Rutgers artwork, and sunlight streaming in from the wide windows at the front of the café, the place had a dynamic look. I usually enjoy coming here for a quick breakfast. It's convenient and the quality is far from bad. That being said, it isn't "great" either. They have good egg dishes and everything tastes fresh and the portions are "just right".. but certain dishes (like the French toast) disappointed us. The French toast seemed flavorless (minus the cinnamon sprinkled on top which didn't save it). I love the gigantic chocolate chip cookies (Huge chocolate chunks) and the monkey bread was pretty good too. There's only Street parking, so plan accordingly. This hasn't been an issue for me but I've only been there on sundays. The staff is attentive and friendly. I'll keep coming back for the convenient brunches and fair prices. Today, I went with the chicken Cesar salad and added avocados for an extra $1.50. I had the order delivered to my job and honestly it took about 35 minutes if that.
