Good vibes, good energy, very friendly & accommodating staff. They offer standard dishes for a cafe, both breakfast & lunch menu, treat & snacks for all, & water bowls for dogs. They give them complimentary treats & a toy that they can keep. A very friendly & comfortable environment. They have a policy about no aggressive dogs, which is good, but they also don't automatically react just because your dog barks while getting used to the environment. We had the breakfast bowl, a bacon, egg, & cheese (not pictured), & lemonade. Our puppy had Ziba's Beef Bowl. My recommendation would be get the Breakfast Bowl with no or less onions. First visit this morning, and I immediately felt a welcoming vibe in the nearly-packed, intimate dining room. I immediately noticed the wall of furry friends, with hundreds of pet photos. There were two young ladies behind the counter, with one running orders out from the kitchen, and both preparing beverages. I only had a latte to-go, but it was the best I've had in months. My drink was also a bit larger than lattes I've had elsewhere in the area, but for a bit less than I've paid recently. Prompt, efficient service with a smile, and a great sense of humor made it a great experience. I'll definitely be back whenever I pass through the neighborhood. read more

It makes me so happy that there are a lot of (newer) coffee shops in New Brunswick. I found this café on yelp, of course, and based on the wonderful reviews, I decided to check it out! They do have a small parking lot. But only a few cars can fit there. However, there was a ton of street parking available. I was able to park right next to the café. There are a lot of resident parking so just read the signs. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I got a macchiato for my husband and he enjoyed it. My friend and I had a light breakfast there and park ourselves on the comfy, small purple couch. The decor is warm and inviting and on one wall they have a ton of photos of furry friends. (Doggies) I ordered an egg and cheese on a croissant and a chai latte with coconut milk. I really wanted to get the Matcha, but apparently the Matcha is premade and pre-sweetened. (Nope, not for me). I like that if you dine in, they give you a real mug or a glass but if you're taking it to go, you can also bring your own cup. I think more cafés and coffee shops need to do this as there's too much plastic trash out there! One of my favorite café offers a small discount if you bring your own cup! Anyways! I came across Friends Cafe on tik tok, my girlfriend and I decided to try it out but also had my special furry puppy. This place is super amazing & pet friendly. They have a menu for all your furry friends :) I love how they have seating outside & inside. They also bring your pets dish to you & your dish as well. Service is delightful, the staff are super sweet & have an amazing customer service skills. The owner is also very kind, you can see tell he cherishes his customers & even his workers. Food & coffee was pleasant ! I had ordered a Nutella waffle, it was really good! If you're a big fan of sweet stuff this is for you. They did put a lot of Nutella which was ok for me, I'm not a big fan of sweets but if you like Nutella, then give it a try !! I also order hash browns , I love how they made it very crunchy & not soft at all. The drink I ordered was an ice caramel latte with oat milk & coconut cold foam, I love coconut so I definitely had to give that a try, wasn't sweet & definitely tasted the strong coffee which I love. My partner tried the ice matcha with coconut cold foam, the matcha wasn't so bad but it tasted more sweet than green. Overall amazing drinks. FYI, I ordered a steak bowl from the furry menu for my shipoo & wow he loved it! They give you a toy with it & some treats :) I guess he can yelp with me too !! Haha. Really cozy spot for a nice breakfast and coffee. I ordered an everything bagel with lox and cream cheese plus a hot latte with milk. Perfect. Short walk from the Robert Wood Johnson hospital. Always a great experience at Friend's Cafe! I had the bacon, egg, cheese, and avocado with a croissant on the side. The croissant was toasted to perfection and they cooked the eggs on the softer side just like I asked. The staff and owners are very friendly and hospitable. And love their Friend's themed decor (don't miss the bathroom wallpaper with special Friend's moments) and dog friendly atmosphere (they have a full dog menu for your furry friends). Came across this place on Memorial day weekend, it wasn't packed and we got seats right away. There's is both seating inside and out. Awesome place to bring dogs!! They have a whole dog menu and the owner is such a nice guy he had us made the special non meat fried rice with a rice over it for our dog who is on a special diet. She loved it human food was also good and filled us up. Cafe is so cute and has that cozy vibe, the staff are attentive and nice, I saw one of the girls tiding up as soon as customers left and cleaning. I would come again. The shop must be so cozy during the holidays like Halloween and Christmas. read more

Solid cafe with a fairly large menu for it's small space. Dogs are welcome here and they have their own separate small menu. It can be pricey for the dogs but the treat was well made. Had a carrot popsicle stick for my dog. I had a cannoli and coffee, both of which were average and good. Cannoli is filled upon order which is how I like it because the shell stays crunchy. Service was friendly and the owner was there as well. Overall, I would stop by if you're local or looking for a cafe in the area. I can see myself stopping by again! read more

I visited with my pup and Friends Cafe had the cutest meal selection for her (which came with a little chew toy). The food came out a little too hot for my pup to eat but once it cooled down, she loved it. The owner is kind and accommodated us even though they were near closing time. I love this place!! Thank you for being so kind to me and my trusty traveling companion Tillie. The art work on the pastry box is so AWESOME. The drinks are yummy! (honey bear and lavendar honey lattes) and yum on the pistachio croissant. I wish we could have stayed and tried one of everything. Most of all thank you for your kindness and smiles! We needed that human connection on our travels. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and well behaved dogs are welcome. Plenty of greenery and flowers abound so decor matches the kindness of the customer service. Even if just passing through there was plenty of available parking and it's safe and calming. My friend and I decided to get some studying done outside because of the warm weather. We were the only people sitting outside the entire time we were visiting here, and we had been here countless times before where we had purchased drinks. Maybe around 10 minutes into us sitting down, we were advised that there is "No outside food or drink allowed" and we apologized and put everything away as instructed. However, all the employees and staff continued to come outside and basically babysit us to make sure we weren't drinking/eating anything. I felt this was very rude and unprofessional as it creates distrust with their customers and I understand that we weren't allowed outside items, but before we came there was nothing denoting this on any doors or signs. Additionally, they proceeded to put up a sign that specifically stated "No outside food or drinks" right in front of us. I also thought that this was incredibly rude since we had already obeyed with their rules previously. read more

CUTEEE!!!!! I've heard so much about the cafe and have wanted to stop in for so long. Finally did, and I think I plan to become a regular. Some highlights: -The have a PARKING LOT?! Basically unheard of for this area. It looked full when I went but there was plenty of free street parking since they are far off of the main avenues. -They are pup friendly! And more than that, they have an entire menu for the furry friends. -Tented outdoor seating. Which is extra wonderful because the inside is a little tight. -Strong wifi makes it a great spot to work/study from. -Breakfast, lunch and dessert menu with lots of tasty looking options. -Super friendly staff! I got the persian fog & the brie and butter on a French baguette. The brie on bread was perfect, and that baguette was perfectly soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. I think I normally would have liked some apple on it or just something extra, but that is personal preference. The Persian fog was super unique, but a little too fragrant for me. Again, personal preference. I wouldn't get it myself, but I absolutely can't wait to try more from their menu. So happy I finally tried this cafe. read more

cute little spot--kind of tucked away in a decent area. it's not the most glamorous location, but it has a cozy, niche vibe that's really charming. they have a nice variety of coffee, and everything i've tried has been pretty good. i usually go for a cappuccino--this time i had it with almond milk, so not a traditional cap, but it still worked for me. parking can be a bit tricky since it's near a residential area, but it's manageable. i also had an egg sandwich--it was solid, though not mind-blowing. the staff is friendly and the service is great. overall, it's a good coffee spot and definitely one of the better ones around. read more

I liked the sesame bagel with cream cheese better than the Nutella pastry. They were super nice and they were very helpful with recommending what to try. This is a very cute cafe, but it's small with few tables inside. What i love about this place is that it is dog friendly. They have a wall with pictures of puppies who have visited. Humans & Canines rejoice!! Salami (our bulldog) gives Friend's Cafe in New Brunswick 4 enthusiastic paws up!!! He loved all the attention and he ate his "Zoey's" dog meal in record time! The meal even came with a dog toy and a side of biscuits! My husband and I ordered breakfast and lattes and everything was phenomenal and reasonably priced. We were lucky enough to talk with the incredibly kind owner and the wonderful barista- and I haven't stopped thinking about the honey bear latte since leaving! Our only regret is not finding out about this dog friendly spot sooner. 5 star ratings from us for sure! I also have to mention the attention to detail with the decor both inside and out. You can tell immediately that this cafe is a labor of love and pride. It felt as if I was walking into a cafe that could have easily rivaled the design of any uptown NYC cafe. The minute we saw this charming cafe located in a lovely neighborhood near Rutgers University, we knew we were going to like it. The appealing exterior opened into a cozy room filled with comfy tables and chairs and even a sofa. There's also a cute outdoor patio which is comfortable and dog-friendly. The homemade soup and baguette we had were freshly made and tasty. One of the things we look for in a lunch place is good coffee, and the Americano and latte we had were perfection. Mohammed (the owner) was super nice and took a photo for us as we asked him if we could be included in the dog wall. He shared that his wife was the inspiration for the cafe theme and she also makes all the menus for dogs! There is indoor/outdoor seating and one of the perks of this study/dog cafe was that there were outlets outdoors! (And dogs for emotional support -- water in dog bowls also provided!) I've been seeing so many people come out to this cafe so I was excited to check it out! It was pretty packed when my friend and I walked in and so many people were studying/working on their laptops. We decided to sit outside and the owner personally walked everything over to us and the rest of the customers sitting beside us. He had amazing service and was super kind and engaging! We ordered a lunch special: coconut shrimp with Persian rice, as well as a slice of the Napoleon (as per the owner's recommendation). Our total came out to roughly $20. The coconut shrimp was delicious but underwhelming as the portion was quite small. We assumed that it would've been big enough to share but that y fortunately was not the case. The Persian rice that it was paired with was really flavorful! The Napoleon was AMAZING and worth every penny. The layers were both super flaky and creamy at the same time.
