Pros: this time around the wait time was shorter than anticipated for a Sunday brunch and we were asked whether we wanted to sit inside or outside which was a bonus. Music selection was great. Cons: my food was lukewarm. I had the plantain dulce pudding latte drink and it was lacking for such a strong title. I prefer my lattes to still taste like lattes and less like a decorative drink but also the sweet plantain on top as a garnish was heavier than anticipated. I've been here before and my selections were on point but this time around I should've stuck with the chick scoop/waffles and cappuccino. If you're in the area I would still recommend making a stop but as a heads up they don't take reservations.
One of many times eating here and I can say that the food and drinks are consistently amazing. Metuchen location is always busy but we were able to get seated pretty quickly. It did take a bit for the waitress to come back to get our order and also for us to pay, but it was brunch and very busy the day we went. I do wish the empanadas we could order them individually like before. Although they are all delicious I do favor the beef and the cheese more than the chicken. Will be back for another brunch.
We recently visited this great breakfast spot again. I should have reposted right after we were there. I had the fiesta scramble bowl. A Mexican inspired dish that some places called a skillet. A very flavorful and filling dish. My wife had the Panquestito Stack. Pancakes with some south of the border inspiration. Definitely worth returning to!
This place takes good vibes, freshness and good food to a new level. Enjoyed all dishes ordered! We took advantage of the happy hour brunch (8am-10am) on a Thursday, but went off the happy hour menu just to try the birria omelet. It was so worth it! The birria omelet was well seasoned. Meat was soft and delicious. The churro waffle was so fluffy and not too sweet. Perfect balance. Farmer's platter was good. My only note is they didn't add any butter to my toast, something I usually expect when I order breakfast plates. But since they charged me extra for ordering some garlic mayonnaise, I assumed they'd charge me if I asked for butter. Staff was attentive and kind, upsold us to the max. Which was a good and bad thing. The coffee we ordered, our server upsold us on flavored syrups and cold foam but did not disclose it'd be extra. Didn't complain since the coffee was delicious, but just keep that in mind if you try this place!
Hatch gets pretty crowded on the weekends and there can be a very long wait depending on the time you go. There is a lot of metered parking spots around the area. When we went, it was the last day of winter drink specials so not much was left to choose from though they do have bottomless hot coffee for a decent price and even offered to put fresh coffee in a to go cup as we were leaving! The food hit the spot. There are a lot of vegetarian options as well which is exciting. It is definitely on the pricier side for the portions though service was excellent.
It's a cool, modern spot that I've enjoyed enough to visit twice. Both times, the vibe was relaxed and stylish, and it never felt overcrowded, which I really appreciated. It's a great place to actually sit, talk, and enjoy your food without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. The staff were friendly and attentive, checking in just the right amount and making the experience pleasant overall. The food and drinks were well prepared, nicely presented, and flavorful. Everything felt thoughtfully done, though I do think it's on the pricier side for what you get, which is why I'm giving it four stars instead of five. Overall, this place is a solid choice for brunch, coffee, or a casual meal if you're looking for a trendy spot with good service and a calm atmosphere. I'd definitely go back.
Finally visited the new location and it was just as cute as the former and definitely bigger! I wish they made it more spacious because you don't have room to sit without being bumped. The decor was just as cute though! They have the cutest photo op swing and it's still very barn-y and homey. Just like the other location there's still no reservations so we had to put our name down and wait like 15 min. Not too bad. We were seated and our waiter was nice but they were packed so service was slow. All servers were just running around with no space. It's sad they filled it up to get more heads in and didn't think of the comfort aspect. For our drinks, I believe they were both seasonal drinks (unless mine is the fixer upper). I'm usually not a cafe drink person but the hibiscus tea sounded so good and I loved it! It was perfectly bitter and sweet and refreshing. My gf had a seasonal latte and liked that too. They do drinks WELL. As for the food I think the pancakes were seasonal. We had the ricotta pancakes and really didn't like it. It had so much melted cream or whatever it was on top that made it soggy. Flavor was there but I wish it was on the side to dip or something. The item was replaced I think! The Que Churro was pretty good but very sweet. We enjoyed the steak and eggs most because of all the flavor but it was served cold. Overall I think it'd be a good experience if we came on a random week day which is unfortunate because who can! I like that they try different things though.
Came back to Hatch for brunch with my friend recently. It was her first time the wait was still long. I wish they would do reservations, but it is what it is. The wait is worth it. I had my regular chicken and waffles. It was delicious. She enjoyed her meal as well. I've really loved that we got to experience the Chinese new year celebration while eating. I think that's still one of my favorite highlights from the day it was so culturally exciting and inclusive so we got to have dinner and a show so I really appreciate that hatch participates and celebrates those events and yeah the food is amazing so if you're in the area, definitely stop by and try it, I've been to hatch a few times now and it won't be my last time
Love the atmosphere of this comfy, cozy brunch spot! All of the food we had was very tasty & the coffee was made to perfection. Although we had a few hiccups with our orders, the waitress & manager were both incredible at making sure things were rectified & that we were satisfied with our service. Their level of professionalism & care for their customers definitely showed! We will be returning to try more delicious things from their menu soon!

Enjoyed a late breakfast at Hatch 44 Cafe in Metuchen! Server Mericis was absolutely wonderful! Good energy and vibes! Appreciate her telling me about the Hatch 44 Cafe rewards program! Sign me up!! Thank you Mericis! Dulce de Leche Cafe Espresso, house dulce de leche, miso, steamed milk served pipping hot just as I asked! I have been wanting to try this place for some while as it is always popping up as a good brunch spot to try. Came here on a early Saturday afternoon, about 1 pm or so. There is metered street parking. The hostess indicated that there would be a wait for a table for one, until the other hostess suggested the bar area. So I sat at the bar and waited to be served. My server was super friendly and very attentive. She suggested cafe con maiz, which was pretty good and Im not an iced coffee person. I also ordered the chicken scoop, fried chicken breast with waffle. And thats where my 3 stars come from. For $25, I expected more than a half of waffle and two small fried chicken breast. It was literally half a waffle!!!! The hot sauce that accompanied it was good. Maybe I will come back and try something different next time, but not buying a half waffle for 25 again The ambiance was nice , warm and inviting. read more

Great ambiance and place to sit. Hostesses are very friendly and nice. Fairly good menu choices and food is delicious. Two issues for me: 1) start taking Apple Pay. Absolutely absurd you are forcing people to bring wallet or make them download an app etc. Too inconvenient! 2) Your house coffee is bitter with bad after taste. Have a choice in house coffee. I've been meaning to patronize this place for a while now, but it's always so packed! Finally got the opportunity on my birthday to celebrate with mom and we had a most enjoyable time. The French toast flight was rich and flavorful and the coffee was as well. Highly recommended 10/10 read more

Always love Hatch for their cute floral ambiance and brunch food! The Hatchshuka was flavorful but I would have appreciated more of the naan since there was way more tomato sauce than bread. Service was great as always- the staff are always so nice read more

Absolute banger brunch spot. Would recommend 5/5 Came here with my girlfriend for a nice brunch. Had the brunch and ordered a matcha and brekkie bowl. Place is really busy but was worth the wait. Server was nice and place was quite clean. Would suggest if the wait isn't an hour. read more

Beautiful ambiance and lots of Photo ops for your socials! But let's get to the food, because who goes to a brunch spot just for their insta?! The server was very friendly, but the food could have been more generous, but then again with this economy I can't expect to get much food even if u charge me $20/plate not including drinks. I ordered the salmon Benny and it was literally ONE slice of smoked salmon per egg muffin and of course the poached eggs with the hollandaise sauce was present. The sauce was pretty orange which is unusual, not your typical Hollandaise sauce. I asked the server if he knew the ingredients and of course he didn't! I mean what server knows the ingredients that they use in the food they serve to people anymore?! Am I crazy or is the world falling apart?! I'm done.I've decided to stop Eating out after this! Nobody knows anything, every restaurant rips you off, takes shortcuts on your food, idc how pretty the restaurant is! Came here for a wedding reception on a Saturday night. 5/5 would recommend based on the service and food. Food wise we had: Seasonal salad (super fresh with berries) Arancini (right amount of flavor and wasn't dry) Shrimp tostones (stellar) Salmon / steak / chicken (all on the more well done side but flavors were good) Mac and cheese (to kill for) Roasted potatoes (so good bc of the oils haha) Churro waffle (I could've eaten 5 of these) Beautiful decor, fantastic food. The set up is so that everything felt intimate and the right amount of casual to mingle and converse. There was also enough space near the bar to set up a photobooth and other activities. I've been wanting to try this place and was finally able to since I moved to the area. We came on a Sunday for brunch and we were seated right away. We started with the oooh bae iced latte and fresh orange juice. I love ube and really enjoyed the latte. I ordered the fiesta scramble bowl and the spicy chick. The scramble bowl was good but not amazing. My fiancé said the chicken sandwich was just ok. The fries were tasty though. Our server was very nice and attentive. The decor is super cute and fun! This place was busy and the music was on the louder side so everyone was talking pretty loudly. The table next to us was talking very loudly which didn't create the best atmosphere for our meal. This place is great for a lively brunch but might not be the spot if you're looking for a calmer meal. They do have an outdoor patio which is quieter. They had a few pancakes that caught my eye so maybe I'll come back and try them. read more
Came here on a Saturday morning and was packed already! They do not take reservations but was easily able to get a table for 2 at 11am. The inside space is large and beautifully decorated and the outdoor area is really cute as well. The staff are super friendly and service was quick. We got the spicy avocado toast with bacon which was absolutely delicious and the bacon was perfectly crispy. We also got the fluff cake flight which was also incredible and the Nutella one was my favorite. We got a side of seasoned potatoes which were also amazing and fruit which I would not necessarily recommend as you just get a few blueberries and strawberries. My wife wanted to try this place for some time and we finally got the chance since we were in the area. The place was nice, a bit trendy, and quaint. Seems like a spot for a lot of influencers or Instagram posts. People were really dressed up for simple brunch. LOL. Food was very good. I had the Birria Omelette while my wife had the Salmon Eggs Benedict. Both dishes were tasty and very filling. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They let us stay a bit more past closing. This spot is worth going to for good Brunch. They do seem to have better portions than Turning Point. Definitely worth the trip. read more

My first review was for their old location which is now Maria's Brunch and this updated one is for their location on New Street. I've been here quite a few times now and it is still good. The new location is beautiful, you can tell they really thought out the details and stuck to an aesthetic. The wait might be long on the weekends during peak brunch times so definitely try to get there and get on the waitlist as soon as possible. I haven't had a bad meal there yet. Service could sometimes be hit or miss but no big issues. Would still recommend coming to try it at least once. read more

I came here after hearing all the hype over Hatch 44, known for their fresh brunch food and specialty coffees. The restaurant was cute and trendy. I came around 10:30am and waited 15 minutes for a seat. Service was super friendly and helpful, and good came quickly. I had a cinnamon roll latte and the avocado toast. Had to take 1 star off because I could not swap my egg type on the avocado toast. I wanted over easy but they would not substitute for the scrambled it came with. I customized but with an upcharge on the already well priced dish. Overall the food was delicious, perfectly seasoned, and fresh to order. Total for two for breakfast came to over $70. read more
Finally got to try out this beautiful restaurant and it did not disappoint! From decor to the exquisite taste it is definitely a place to come and visit. We were seated pretty quickly on arrival. We both ordered the iced teddy graham latte which was delicious; they even added real teddy grahams into the drink. We had seen blueberry pancakes on instagram but they were able to accommodate us and make us blueberry pancakes with a berry compote. The pancakes were out of this world! so fluffy with a thin crisp. Another great day eating here. The farina is still good. My hot chocolate with espresso was delicious. We were a large group and the reservation times for a large group are limited. But their service to a group of 11 was great. They brought most of the food very quickly. read more
Super cute brunch spot. The place is small and gets packed so be prepared to wait on the weekend. It's also BYOB which is always nice. The food itself was only ok in my opinion. Came here on new years day for breakfast. It was packed but we got a table of 2 right away. We got orange juice and a specialty hot chocolate. We also got the churro waffles, eggs, home fries, and the coquito french toast. Everything was delicious. I would come here again. read more
Heads up- This place gets so packed and they do not make reservations for parties of 5 or less people, so expect a wait time if that's your party size as it's first come first serve. We went on a Saturday at 2pm and luckily I had reservations for my party of 6 because it was a full house. First impression was "wow this place is so cute and they have an amazing playlist, this sounds like a party ) second, their menu all sounded delicious. I got a banana latte to start - it was so yummy. Then my group shared the fluff cake which included the following : Liam's Fav (Nutella whip, Oreos, and fresh fruit) Classic Savy (pecan mascarpone and candied pecans; Berry Zest (lemon blueberry ricotta). My favorite was the Liam's fav but all of them were so good and not too sweet, just right. For entree I had the steak and eggs and wow the streak had a charred flavor to it that made it perfect. There were multiple people there celebrating birthdays and I can see why they would go there, the space is very aesthetic , the food is great and the vibe was fun , again , great music selection.My group had a fun time. Do make note- they only let you be at your table for an hour and a half. I wish they let you make reservations for all party sizes and that they extended your time especially for a group of 5 or more. I didn't love those two things but overall I would go back for the food and atmosphere. read more

Even though it's expanded since its early days, it still maintains that charming, laid-back café energy. Hatch 44 is also very welcoming for different dietary needs -- they clearly highlight vegan and vegetarian options, like their "This Chick Is Vegan" chickpea omelet with kale, mushrooms, and sweet plantains. Their menu demonstrates real care in accommodating a variety of tastes. The drink menu doesn't disappoint either. Went here for breakfast with hubby very pretty inside and out. Very clean. Staff very friendly. I had spicy avocado toast and hubby had Chicken and Waffles (called Chicken Scoop) and both were delicious. Coffee was on point. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars because price point was a bit much. $70 for breakfast and 2 coffees may be a lot for most. Upcharge of $8.95 for one small piece of smoked salmon ??? read more

been wanting to go to hatch 44 for some time now but always was discouraged cuz the wait. BUT I finally made it! food: all was good. - churro french toast-- yummy and hit the sweet tooth. 5/5 - jersey dirty fries aka loaded nachos (customized with no meat): was yummy but lil bit dry. howevr with additional sauces on side it was yum! 4/5 - cheese empanadas - hot and cheese and crispy case! 5/5 drinks: hot chocolate 5/5 overall would def go again for a light brunch vibe! The aesthetic was very cute for the holidays and very cozy vibe :) read more

I suggest that you call them earlier, they don't do reservations less than 6ppl so make sure you call.
Came by and this location was closed. Their instagram page says new location will open in Sept 2022. I guess no Hatch 44 until then?…
Correct! They're staying in Metuchen - 25 New Street. Supposed to be a bigger location!

I believe this question was previously asked/answered. You must go in and make a reservation. Hatch44 does not take over the phone reservations.
Are they open again?
Yes they are. They shut down for 3 weeks due to frozen pipes that burst.
