Came back for my son's birthday because he wanted his breakfast/brunch to be Liam's Fav pancakes which have become one of his fave pancakes, too! 3 fluffy Oreo pancakes with cream cheese glaze and Nutella mousse. He also really enjoyed the seasonal Berry Cloud Fizz beverage. I ordered the chicken scoop that was absolutely delicious. 2 Crispy chicken breasts topped with yummy bacon jam all on top of a delicious Belgium waffle drizzled with maple mustard syrup. It was not drenched in syrup which was great, the perfect amount of sweet and salty. For our appetizers we ordered the cauli tempura with the sauce in the side as our server Mericis suggested after my concern over the spice level; and I'm glad she mentioned it because one dip into the sauce and it was not for me. She joyfully suggested other sauces (garlic mayo, aji verde & chimichurri) that were delicious but the garlic mayo was my fave. We also got the nori roll which is one of our fave apps here. The sauce drizzled on top really takes it to the next level. For drinks I ordered the seasonal dulce plantain pudding latte -- yum! Loved every bit of it, especially that it wasn't overly sweet. Our server, Mericis was great. Always attentive, patient as I tried to figure out what I wanted to try next after coming for my 3rd time, and overall great vibes. Met a friend on a Thursday morning at 10am for brunch. Food was tasty, however EXPENSIVE. We ordered one plate of eggs with bacon, potatoes and toast and one order of French toast with berry compote and shared. We also had a single glass of OJ and a fancy mango drink of some kind (I didn't drink that one lol). Food was tasty, service was fine. The reason for the low stars is because the hostess came to our table to tell us "there's a 90 minute table limit" and then asked us to leave. Brunch cost us $60 and we left a 22% tip. This was 11:30 am, PLENTY of tables open, NO ONE waiting for a table. If you're catching up with friends, NOT the place to go. read more

One thing I can appreciate about this place is that their outdoor seating allowed us to bring the dog. Additionally, out server even brought him water. For reference, the dog is about 60lbs so not necessarily a small dog (but of course, a friendly one!) I love that they have a good coffee menu, but I am basic and would stick to their iced coffee. I have been wanting to try this place for some while as it is always popping up as a good brunch spot to try. Came here on a early Saturday afternoon, about 1 pm or so. There is metered street parking. The hostess indicated that there would be a wait for a table for one, until the other hostess suggested the bar area. So I sat at the bar and waited to be served. My server was super friendly and very attentive. She suggested cafe con maiz, which was pretty good and Im not an iced coffee person. I also ordered the chicken scoop, fried chicken breast with waffle. And thats where my 3 stars come from. For $25, I expected more than a half of waffle and two small fried chicken breast. It was literally half a waffle!!!! The hot sauce that accompanied it was good. Pros: this time around the wait time was shorter than anticipated for a Sunday brunch and we were asked whether we wanted to sit inside or outside which was a bonus. Music selection was great. Cons: my food was lukewarm. I had the plantain dulce pudding latte drink and it was lacking for such a strong title. I prefer my lattes to still taste like lattes and less like a decorative drink but also the sweet plantain on top as a garnish was heavier than anticipated. One of many times eating here and I can say that the food and drinks are consistently amazing. Metuchen location is always busy but we were able to get seated pretty quickly. It did take a bit for the waitress to come back to get our order and also for us to pay, but it was brunch and very busy the day we went. I do wish the empanadas we could order them individually like before. Although they are all delicious I do favor the beef and the cheese more than the chicken. We took advantage of the happy hour brunch (8am-10am) on a Thursday, but went off the happy hour menu just to try the birria omelet. It was so worth it! The birria omelet was well seasoned. Meat was soft and delicious. The churro waffle was so fluffy and not too sweet. Perfect balance. Farmer's platter was good. My only note is they didn't add any butter to my toast, something I usually expect when I order breakfast plates. But since they charged me extra for ordering some garlic mayonnaise, I assumed they'd charge me if I asked for butter. Staff was attentive and kind, upsold us to the max. Which was a good and bad thing. The coffee we ordered, our server upsold us on flavored syrups and cold foam but did not disclose it'd be extra. We recently visited this great breakfast spot again. I should have reposted right after we were there. I had the fiesta scramble bowl. A Mexican inspired dish that some places called a skillet. Hatch gets pretty crowded on the weekends and there can be a very long wait depending on the time you go. There is a lot of metered parking spots around the area. When we went, it was the last day of winter drink specials so not much was left to choose from though they do have bottomless hot coffee for a decent price and even offered to put fresh coffee in a to go cup as we were leaving! The food hit the spot. There are a lot of vegetarian options as well which is exciting. It is definitely on the pricier side for the portions though service was excellent. read more

This is a cute cafe, nice decor and great service. The food was good but very overpriced. And for those prices I would expect a little more attention to details on the actual food. Chocolate chip pancakes were fluffy, good consistency, but unfortunately they were salty (everyone in my family tasted and we all agreed). The yogurt parfait - you can't really mess this one up but I would like a little more granola crunchiness. They skimped. French toast - objectively, a good but very rich dish. However, not really what I would call French toast. It's just very large "blocks" of bread, flavoured on the outside and with topping. But the super thick cut won't let the bread soak through like a normal French toast. Finally - house coffee was really not good. It's not a bad place but I would probably not return. read more

Finally visited the new location and it was just as cute as the former and definitely bigger! I wish they made it more spacious because you don't have room to sit without being bumped. The decor was just as cute though! They have the cutest photo op swing and it's still very barn-y and homey. We were seated and our waiter was nice but they were packed so service was slow. All servers were just running around with no space. It's sad they filled it up to get more heads in and didn't think of the comfort aspect. For our drinks, I believe they were both seasonal drinks (unless mine is the fixer upper). I'm usually not a cafe drink person but the hibiscus tea sounded so good and I loved it! It was perfectly bitter and sweet and refreshing. My gf had a seasonal latte and liked that too. They do drinks WELL. As for the food I think the pancakes were seasonal. We had the ricotta pancakes and really didn't like it. It had so much melted cream or whatever it was on top that made it soggy. Flavor was there but I wish it was on the side to dip or something. The item was replaced I think! The Que Churro was pretty good but very sweet. We enjoyed the steak and eggs most because of all the flavor but it was served cold. Came back to Hatch for brunch with my friend recently. It was her first time the wait was still long. I wish they would do reservations, but it is what it is. The wait is worth it. I had my regular chicken and waffles. It was delicious. She enjoyed her meal as well. I've really loved that we got to experience the Chinese new year celebration while eating. We started with the oooh bae iced latte and fresh orange juice. I love ube and really enjoyed the latte. I ordered the fiesta scramble bowl and the spicy chick. The scramble bowl was good but not amazing. My fiancé said the chicken sandwich was just ok. The fries were tasty though. Our server was very nice and attentive. The decor is super cute and fun! This place was busy and the music was on the louder side so everyone was talking pretty loudly. The table next to us was talking very loudly which didn't create the best atmosphere for our meal. This place is great for a lively brunch but might not be the spot if you're looking for a calmer meal. They do have an outdoor patio which is quieter. So I've given this spot a few try's before leaving a review. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful! But everything else is just okay. Service: Iffy each time I've gone. Either I or someone at my table has gotten at least something off with their order almost each time. First few times I went was when they first opened the new location, so I thought it might be that but it's not. Food: Good! But not great. The prices are definitely a bit high for the area and the food isn't good enough to make up for it. Also random but I do think it's odd that they have substitutions for pork but you can't actually substitute it for a small up charge, you have to fully buy the other meat as a side. Always think it's taking advantage a bit when places do this. For reference, I got one of the breakfast bowls where the meat was a small portion of it, not the whole meal. Drinks: Specials are very overpriced and again just okay. Wait time: Waits can get super long, and they don't take reservations (unless it's a big party) or do an online waitlist. This means you can't put your name down unless you come in person. I think this would make the experience a lot better if it was implemented! read more

The inside space is large and beautifully decorated and the outdoor area is really cute as well. The staff are super friendly and service was quick. We got the spicy avocado toast with bacon which was absolutely delicious and the bacon was perfectly crispy. We also got the fluff cake flight which was also incredible and the Nutella one was my favorite. We got a side of seasoned potatoes which were also amazing and fruit which I would not necessarily recommend as you just get a few blueberries and strawberries. I had the Birria Omelette while my wife had the Salmon Eggs Benedict. Both dishes were tasty and very filling. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They let us stay a bit more past closing. My first review was for their old location which is now Maria's Brunch and this updated one is for their location on New Street. I've been here quite a few times now and it is still good. The new location is beautiful, you can tell they really thought out the details and stuck to an aesthetic. The wait might be long on the weekends during peak brunch times so definitely try to get there and get on the waitlist as soon as possible. I haven't had a bad meal there yet. Service could sometimes be hit or miss but no big issues. Would still recommend coming to try it at least once. read more

I came around 10:30am and waited 15 minutes for a seat. Service was super friendly and helpful, and good came quickly. I had a cinnamon roll latte and the avocado toast. Had to take 1 star off because I could not swap my egg type on the avocado toast. I wanted over easy but they would not substitute for the scrambled it came with. I customized but with an upcharge on the already well priced dish. Overall the food was delicious, perfectly seasoned, and fresh to order. Total for two for breakfast came to over $70. read more

This morning we finally visited Hatch 44 Cafe in Metuchen, New Jersey a place I've been meaning to try for over a year and I'm so glad we did. We arrived at just the right time before the rush, which made the experience even better. The ambiance is beautiful: very nicely decorated, bright, and spacious, with plenty of room to sit comfortably. We were seated right away, and the service was excellent from start to finish-friendly, attentive, and welcoming. We ordered a cappuccino and hot chocolate, and both were absolutely amazing (as you can see from the pictures). For food, we went with the Chicken Scoop-waffles with chicken-and the Fiesta Scramble Bowl. Everything was delicious, flavorful, and very filling. Honestly, from drinks to food, it was a grand slam across the board. There are lots of menu options, the quality is top-notch, and the staff truly makes the experience enjoyable. As we were getting ready to leave, the place started filling up quickly-clearly a very popular spot. I also loved the charm of the town of Metuchen and can't wait to come back to try more dishes. Finally got to try out this beautiful restaurant and it did not disappoint! From decor to the exquisite taste it is definitely a place to come and visit. We were seated pretty quickly on arrival. We both ordered the iced teddy graham latte which was delicious; they even added real teddy grahams into the drink.
