I've been wanting to try this coffee shop for a while (for the Matcha and the vibes, of course). Drove down here last Thursday on an absolutely beautiful day. It's located in a strip mall with tons of parking spots. The barista was friendly and quickly took my order, but since he was working alone, it took quite a while to get my drink and bites. I wasn't in a rush, so I didn't mind waiting. We were also entertained by some outside salon drama between two ladies. Hopefully they were able to work things out. As a Matcha aficionado, I wanted to try their honey pistachio Matcha. I also ordered some mozzarella sticks and a Cortado for my husband. My drink was a tad too sweet (too much pistachio syrup), but I still liked it. Mozzarella sticks were fine. I paid about $21 for everything including tip. I like the be kind messages on the cups and the black aesthetic was pretty cool. I wouldn't mind returning to this coffee shop as it was a pleasant drive from my house. 4.5 stars for their wonderful tasting drinks including matcha latte (so not just coffee). I've had matcha latte from many local places and they do a better job than most. The only thing is be prepared to wait a bit sometimes because it does get busy, even on weekday mornings. My kids LOVE their hot chocolate too and I tried it and I have to say.. it is good hot chocolate, not just like your average swiss miss taking packages or anything. People seem to work from there/use the wifi and just hang out a bit. I have a few suggestions-- maybe ube flavored lattes and matcha (I believe they are filipino run anyways, and I would love to see some of that), and some more options for pastries! A small but friendly and cute place to WFH. They have private phone booths and a conference room you can book with a small fee. The staff here are all friendly and willing to help you choose a drink when you're unable to decide on your own! This cafes coffee quality exceeded my expectations. The flavor was amazing and it was well prepared on the spot. (They even sell their own coffee beans) and for good reason. Staff were very sweet, quiet, and efficient. I saw them bring drinks around the counter to customers which goes above and beyond shouting orders across the room! Espressos were pretty sour. I ordered two doppio cups, one regular, one decaf. I'm glad I tried both but was unable to finish either. I wonder if the made the grind size just a notch or two finer, if it would mellow out the shots and pull more tasting notes. The store is very dim with lots of dark, modern furniture and fixtures. I've gotten the hazelnut iced latte along with the coconut mocha latte and while I'm not usually a fan of coconut I will say both drinks were delicious. I was attended to quickly and there was plenty of seating for me to get some work done while I enjoyed my tea. The berry hibiscuis tea was light and refreshing for a warm day. I thought the black decor was so welcoming and romantic. The modern furniture such a draw. The drip coffee contraption, fascinating! The aesthetics are so intriguing. And that's where it ended for me. TRUE the coffee didn't taste burned but it just took soooo much longer. Forget if there was a whole line ahead of you. I got the CLOlossal (that's cute & witty) Americano and chocolate croissant. Meh. I really wasn't impressed. Plus, the chintzy lid on the coffee kept coming off and she spilled it on me. I had to ask for napkins and I wiped off the mess made because she grabbed it by the top. Also, those said napkins were the paper towels in the bathroom. Tried the cloquito which was perfectly balanced (a tiny bit sweeter than I'd like but it was late afternoon and I didn't mind). I stopped here to get a cup of coffee and relax for a little bit when I was early for a chiropractor appointment and needed to kill about a half hour. The coffee shop at selfish Chic and the barista behind the counter was super friendly. I was waffling on what I want to order and he helps me narrow down my selection. I ended up doing a single origin colds pour over. He had laid up everything and prepared it right in front of me within a few minutes I had my cup of coffee. Overall I was pretty happy with what I got. It was a nice way to kill some time as well and I am glad I stopped here. And there were definitely people here who are working, so I don't know what kind of arrangements you can make but it might be a place that you can check out if you're looking for a spot to do some telework. All in all a great little place to stop if you are local and want a good cup of coffee. read more

Atmosphere: 5 Super cute inside. I love that there are separate rooms available for working. The menu is at the front by the register. It's a laid back atmosphere that makes you just want to go back. Portion: 5 The latte I got is about the size of a Starbucks grande. Flavor: 5 It came unsweetened so you'll have to sweeten it on your own. The coffee is flavorful and you definitely can taste it. Unlike a Starbucks latte where the milk overwhelms a lot of the coffee taste, the coffee in the latte is really fragrant. Overall, I'd go there again. This is such a chic coffee shop. Very quiet for the most part, cool music and just a chill spot. Great place for a date, study area available and even just to come read a book. I got a matcha latte, I came for the Yelp elite event and they allowed me to get a latte equal or lesser value than the mocha salted Carmel which I really appreciated. I love the black Christmas tree that they had on display! I never seen one before. The couch is very convenient and had a cup holder which was perfect because the table in the room is kind of low. 5 stars is an understatement. Everything about CLO stands out: their vast coffee menu, the small selection of delicious pastries and of course, their staff. I've been to both their Edison location and their Jersey Cory location a handful of times and have always been met with a cool, clean space perfect for hanging out and getting some work done. I've also never met an employee that didn't take their time making sure you were getting a drink perfect for your tastebuds and preference. Seriously, these guys are so dang nice! They ask questions, make suggestions, take time to make each drink perfect, are never not smiling (I've only been during COVID times so they have always been masked, but I am confident they are smiling still) and are just all around lovely folks. Their motto here is "be kind". You'll read it on T-shirts and you'll feel it in the environment. Okay okay! Onto the actual coffee and treats. I've gotten their signature CLO latte both hot and iced and on my recent visit to the Edison location, I tried the mocha coconut latte. It sounded kind of sweet but the barista said it was her favorite so I gave it a go. Amazing! She made it not so sweet for me and it was the perfect mid day treat. All of their coffees are one size to make sure every drink comes out just right and consistent. It's different, but it works. I also got a really delicious panini: kale, spinach and feta I believe. Love love love CLO! I'm a huge coffee fiend and needed a pick me up after my 3 hour Amtrak. I got the iced maple latte and my brother got an iced matcha. The matcha was great, 10/10 no comments. The maple latte was a tad disappointing because I didn't really get any maple taste. It ended up tasting like a regular latte to me which was fine since it still gave me the caffeine boost I needed. To start, I'll say that the coffee here is good. It's legit coffee -- none of that store bought stuff (though, I can appreciate that). But if you come here, come here to relax, to chill, and to take your time. Come here with your partner for a quiet date. This place is meant for you to take some time for yourself. It's best to come early on a weekday and people watch out the floor to ceiling windows facing the parking lot, and disconnect from your phone a little bit. These drinks are made with a lot of care and so that means it can take at least 15 minutes. Some days this place can be busy especially when they have events, so I wouldn't recommend coming then to relax. If you're in a rush and need to grab and go - just order it ahead of time and give them ample time to make your cup of Joe with care. Because there's a lot of care and time that goes into it, the drinks here can be pricey. So, treat your time as Clo as more than just to have coffee but what you're paying for is a peaceful relaxing experience. Stay awhile, enjoy the serene music (sometimes Bieber which I love haha), talk to the staff, journal, people watch and take this time to fill your cup (literally). Such a cute coffee shop in Edison! There's not too many coffee shops nearby, so I'm glad to have found this gem. The ambiance here is super chill, perfect for a coffee chat or a work-from-home day. There's plenty of seating, with an additional quiet room to work. Workers were super friendly as well. The only flaw was probably the wait time for coffee. I had to wait about 15-20 minutes to get my 2 cups. I ordered a house blend pour over, which was super smooth and not bitter at all. As well as an oat milk latte with toffee syrup. There's dozens of flavors to choose from, both sugar and sugar-free. Both drinks were flavorful and really good! Will definitely be visiting again to try out the rest of the menu. read more

So I found this spot on Instagram! Someone I followed went here a few times and mentioned how great it was so being in quarantine I figured I'd try it out. My husband and I both ordered a iced Carmel latte, it was free delivery from clo coffee which we really liked that they weren't outsourcing so you know its being handled a little More securely then being handed off to a driver. They called to let us know it was going to be a little late who u was much appreciated. Coffee arrived with the right order and a really nice delivery guy! Love this mom and pop coffee shop. You can tell that the baristas love what they do and they are super down to earth people. I like the overall aesthetic of the coffee shop, a black and white vibe with a large couch that they added cup holders to. There's a soundproof phone booth you can use to make phone calls as well as a private study area you can also rent out. There's only 1-2 tables to actually study at other than the study area you can rent out, so I could see it being problematic if it's packed. Clo's pour- over coffees are great with a personalized selection that changes through seasons. I personally like my lattes and don't take my coffee black. BUT this changed with Clo, what a miracle LOL! Interior is very beautiful- matte black and chrome. They have private rooms available for meetings (over coffee) but the main floor invites community and openness with group tables and couches. For fellow introverts there are bar stool tables facing out. What also stands out is their customer service. During opening weekend my drink could've been better. Mercy, the head barista invited me back in, and together with Ralph, concocted and perfected the recipe with me to try it out. On the house. Yes, that's right. Very glad that Central Jersey has places like this where you can literally relax, study, catch up with a friend. All in a beautiful little coffee shop. I can't stress enough how much I love the decor and ambiance of this shop. Even their Christmas tree was on point, all black and jeweled with kindness coffee cups. You really can't beat it. I recommend this place if you're in need of a catch up with an old friend, a quick bite and caffeination, or a place to study/work. They have Wi-Fi available to customers. Their coffee is legit! They make it on the spot for you and it seems every cup is made on the spot with care. The owners live close by so they are in the shop a lot, which is nice! You can tell they really care about providing a great business. Only down side? The specialty drinks are a bit on the pricey side. My wife and I stopped in on Black Friday morning. She had a delicious Matcha Latte with oat milk, I had an espresso. We each had the everything bagel croissant. My espresso exceeded expectations, which prompted me to also order a pour over. The espresso was the right size. Some places seem to believe more is better, CLO understands espresso ratios and beverage sizes. The single origin pour over was an Ethiopian. I had high hopes after the espresso and talking with the barista. I don't say this lightly, it was perhaps the best Ethiopian I've ever had. I gave my wife a taste and she commented that "it tastes like they ground up blueberries in the coffee." The flavor was excellent, which speaks both to the talent of the roaster and the talent of the barista. Highly recommend this place! read more

The barista recommended a chocolate coconut coffee drink special that my friend and I both ordered. It was phenomenal. Admittedly, it's a bit pricey for a cup of coffee - we got the special, plus added oat milk... we were looking at over $10 per drink. But I thought it was a worthy treat/ indulgence. This place has great WiFi. This is my go to coffee shop to study and get work done! Love the welcoming vibes here! Every time I go, I see people also working or catching up over a cup of coffee. This time I got the London Fog to try something different but the tea blend was too strong for my liking. My go to is usually the matcha latte hot or iced. They also have a lot of different syrups that are not listed on the menu but you can just ask. The drinks are on the pricey side for the one size it comes in for both hot and iced.
