Food was fine overall. I ordered the pisa panini with a side potatoes. The sandwich tasted good overall, but the bread got pretty soggy because it was in the foil and the bread was thin. I also thought the potatoes were seasoned very heavily with an unfamiliar spice that I can't quite name, but I didn't think it went well with my sandwich. The red velvet pancakes were a bit too sweet, but my friends seemed to enjoy the omelette and red velvet pancakes overall! Service was also quick and very friendly.
Brewed Awakening has a nice location and a cozy atmosphere, but the overall experience needs improvement. The kitchen is small, and it feels like they're understaffed -- which affects both service and the opportunity to upsell meals or drinks. We waited for a table, as did several others, but when one opened up outside, a couple seated themselves and the staff just let it slide, even though others were clearly waiting. On top of that, we were charged for toast even though it was supposed to be included with the meal. It's a small detail, but it speaks to the need for better attention to both service and billing. With more staffing and better management of the dining experience, this place could really shine.
Ambiance: Really cozy and warm place with vibrant decor. I loved the large pieces of wall art. Food: Caramel Chiller (4/5), Latte (4/5), Canella Berry Waffle (5/5), Eggs Bendict w/ fries (3/5). The eggs benedict was okay (better with Hollandaise Sauce and Ketchup) and came with a side of fries. However these fries were actually just soft and small potato slices, which was disappointing. Service: We were greeted by friendly staff and were seated in ~20 minutes. Our server was super friendly, professional, and helped with recommendations.
I went to Brewed Awakening with my boyfriend, and this place was fantastic! The moment we walked in, we were seated right away. The atmosphere was calm and cozy, and the service was prompt. our server was extremely nice and attentive the entire time. We started with a chai matcha and an iced coffee, then ordered a strawberry banana smoothie and a mango smoothie. For food, we had the chorizo la papa and the bacon, egg, and French toast. Everything was absolutely delicious! The food came out quickly, everything was fresh, and the flavors were perfect. We left completely satisfied. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for great food, great drinks, and friendly service.
Went to Brewed Awakening after looking for breakfast spots in Metuchen. Service was pretty quick, as we were seated immediately. Our waiter was kind and attentive throughout our meal. I got the huevos rancheros, and they were phenomenal. The chorizo was seasoned to perfection, and paired perfectly with the fried egg and tortilla. It was also served with home fries. I would definitely recommend ordering something off the Mexican breakfast menu, which includes the huevos rancheros. The place has a small, cozy vibe which is great for a casual breakfast or brunch. 5/5!
While in Metuchen today I came across this establishment for a quick bite to eat. I also noticed the frozen matcha sign outside so of course had to try. We were greeted and we opted to sit outside on this beautiful day. I didn't really get a good look inside however seemed to be a good amount of people there also while we were outside people were definitely coming in. The service was good and the outside seating was good. We opted to split something and when it came out our server put it on two separate plates which was nice I appreciated that. The food was good. Chicken panini and some home fries. They also have a pretty decent menu from what I saw. If you are in the area definitely check them out.
Heyyyyyyyyyy you guyyyyyyys! What a great spot, we had the pleasure of sitting outside. The owner is a true delight. Our server Gabriel was very polite, attentive. We started with a pistacho and spicy Brown sugar latte-very yum! Let's get to the eats we opted for a goat cheese omelette with toast, a chicken and eggplant panini and a chicken Cesar wrap add bacon. Overall the food was good, the vibe was perfect for a Sunday breakfast with a lil piece on Metuchen. Let's eat!!
Cute interior with plenty of seating. BUT what stood out most was the horrible service. It was extremelyyyyy slow. We waited ~45 minutes for our food and the restaurant was maybe 50% full. The waiter had an attitude too. My brother is allergic to walnuts and when my mom asked him, double checking if the walnuts were on the side, he said "I mean, you can look at it and not see any." He also didn't come to check in on us or refill our waters. Then when we specifically asked for more water, he grabbed a pitcher from ANOTHER TABLE and put it on our table. Like what??! I got an iced flat white with oat milk (extra 0.75 for alternative milk) and it was okay. Big cup, but a little too creamy for my taste. Food was pretty good and decent portion sizes. They put a lot of pesto on the panini though the side of home fries was pretty dismal. The home fries were also overcooked/mushy and bland. The balsamic glaze that came with the salad tasted a bit strange but the pepper sauce on the table was good. There was a good amount of chicken in the salad and the cranberries/walnuts were nice toppings. Will likely not be back due to how poor the service is. I've never deducted two stars for service before but it was absolutely abysmal.
This place has changed for the better. It's in the heart of Metuchen township. My to go place. I will say that perhaps it's under new management. They did a great job with a little uplift. They have outdoor dining. Varieties of bkfts and lunch options. Good ambiance and inviting. Young crew as servers which is nice to see. Keeps them off the streets and value their responsibilities as a young adult. Service in overall was great. Bkfts was tasty. But their flavored lattes are tasty congratulations on the new and improve brewed awakening. Street parking
Brewed Awakening was a blessing in disguise. We stumbled upon this place after trying to visit the busy restaurant around the corner. Their wait was non-existent for a table of 9 so we figured to try another place and we luckily got a table at brewed awakening. They were able to accommodate us as a party of 9. The place is a bit small, but I think it's supposed to be a small cafe. They have a full menu for food so we ended up getting a couple of breakfast dishes and pancakes. The coffee is great as well. I usually get a duplo so. I'd go back if I was in the area again.
Very cute cafe in downtown Metuchen. Expansive menu of breakfast and lunch choices. The Sierra chicken & eggplant sandwich was delicious. Tables inside and outdoor patio area available. Great service and great coffee!

FIRST thing, DON'T and I MEAN DON'T DINE IN (especially if you are of MELANIN DECENT) yes this place is HELLA SLOW, HELLA PACK'D (especially on SUNDAYS) and has an UNDERLY'n feel of racism. And that's SAD cause your FOOD is STRAIGHT TRASH; had the vegan French Toast, Vegan CHORIZO and Home fries. And if the HOME FRIES wasn't there would of gave the WHOLE PLATE BACK. JuJu had the WAFFLE, EGGS and HOME FRIES; the verdict was he exact same without the HOME FRIES the meal was LACKLUSTER at best. Vegan French Toast gave BLAND try and get a better bread cause the one you're using AIN'T IT. The VEGAN CHORIZO was too spicy dial that back and you might have SOME REAL FIRE on your hands. The WAFFLE was COLD and HARD (SUPER DUB meaning BAD) those EGGS had no flavor and was lukewarm at most. After many trips to Metuchen and lots of walks up and down Main St, I finally stopped in to try Bread Awakening! I am usually on the hunt for a cafe where I can stay awhile and get some work done, and while this spot may not be perfect for that exact reason, I am still so happy to have this added to my list of great Metuchen spots. A coworker and I grabbed a table outside on a beautiful day, ordered some food, and while those were coming out, got to work. The waitress was lovely and got us the wifi password no problem. It worked perfectly even outside. The menu is such a wonderful mix of traditional breakfast and lunch items as well as some delicious looking, sounding (and tasting) Mexican dishes. I got the Balsamico wrap which was grilled chicken, mozzarella, roasted peppers, and sundried tomato pesto. It was DELICIOUS but much cheesier and decadent than I expected. I managed to get through half. It comes with either home fries or a salad and I of course went the home fries route. So so yummy. Those did not make it to the doggie bag. The space is big with lots of tables both inside and out. The service is wonderful and quick and the food is fantastic. Give them a try! read more

Saturday lunch crowd was busy. Luckily, only had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Nothing truly original that popped out of the menu just the classics. I do like being able to choose between a salad or potatoes as a side. I got the vegetarian Piso Panini with a side salad. The panini didn't look like much but it was packed with flavor and so filling! The dressing for the salad was FANTASTIC!! I put it on everything! I ate it with a spoon. I wanted to take the whole bottle home! I LOVED it! The staff was nice. I had about 4 of them tending to me. No one set server per table. Overall, very hometown. Very no frills. Very comfy. read more

Super cute little place we stumbled on while in town. We originally were trying for another place literally around the corner but it was a 90 minute wait and we were too hungry and didn't have time for that! Quick google search for breakfast nearby and just went around the corner. Our server was quick to greet us and sat us in the chairs and couch by the window. He and everyone else were super friendly and attentive! The menu has so many options and our food came quick! We had a variety-La Mexicana, breakfast burrito, omelette and French toast along with lattes and chai tea. All was delicious! read more

Ever since one of my friends highly recommended Brewed Awakening for brunch, I have been meaning to go for months. I finally got the chance to visit by getting brunch with a friend on Saturday. I was worried that there would be a long wait as there often is with Hatch 44 down the street. Thankfully, there were plenty of open tables and we were seated immediately. We had the mango smoothie and iced chai for drinks and for food, we got the sweet treat banana split with sausage and poached eggs and the canella berry waffle with Taylor ham and sunny side up eggs! The mango smoothie was pleasantly large and piled with whipped cream, but I will admit that I was expecting it to be presented in a mason jar as seen on the menu. Regardless, it was deliciously mango-y and very refreshing. We also thoroughly enjoyed our food -- the banana split consisted of French toast topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with strawberries, blueberries, and bananas finished with a chocolate drizzle. The waffle was similarly topped with strawberries, blueberries and whipped cream. There was a cinnamon stick in the middle of the whipped cream which was interesting, but I feel that a chocolate wafer stick would have been a better choice. However, our food was amazing! The service was really great and attentive and we were regularly checked on. They also kindly let us stay for over three hours without kicking us out, which I greatly appreciated. Overall, although the interior is not as cute and decorated as Hatch 44, brewed awakening is definitely a nice brunch spot that I would return to! read more
Very tasty brunch! It was a classic two egg platter and it was a good portioned amount of food. I really enjoyed all the components and it was a more refreshing stay to the home fries and white bread of other restaurants. Service was also attentive and constantly checked in. Wait staff was also super friendly and gave recommendations. The restaurant was more modern but more on the casual side. There is a giant wall mural and that adds to the bustling city vibe. Metchuen is also a very cute area so if you want to walk around the area it is very lively. read more

Had a breakfast this morning and this place made my day started well! From the staffs to their food and vibe. A 5 star! Clean and smells good for the restroom, clean place(clearly the closing team did well) food is delicious! The staff knew the bestsellers and recommended well. Lots of outlets for your business or leisure. Ample seating. Has couches and tables and chairs for different kinds of needs, compared to hatch44 this place does not give you a time limit. Very helpful for like us who are traveling and needs a cafe to find a good internet connection and all said above. See images and videos for reference. read more

Place is nice and cozy, the staff were extremely friendly, and the owner went around greeting everyone. The food was okay nothing special. I really enjoyed the breakfast potatoes and the avocado with the house hot sauce. Outside of that everything else was regular. Would probably go back if I am in the area! read more
By chance, I had the pleasure of meeting the owners of the business at some place other than the restaurant, and that encounter changed my entire perspective on the business. I appreciate the love and dedication that it takes to run a family owned business. I wish Annie and the crew nothing but the best as they continue to serve the public for years to come. read more

Brewed Awakening is an absolute hidden gem for non-Metuchen locals like myself. I wandered in unexpectedly one day and couldn't stop thinking about when I would return ever since. I persuaded my bf to join me this morning and we were not disappointed. From the moment you step through the door, you're greeted by the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the friendly smiles of the staff. While not pictured (bc we drank them too fast as they were so delicious!), the beverages were definitely the star of the show. We got a caramel mocha and a raspberry peach tea, both were so tasty. Each sip is a burst of flavor that leaves you craving more. The Eggs Benedict at this place is pure bliss. The perfectly poached eggs, nestled atop a toasted English muffin, are crowned with a velvety hollandaise sauce that adds a heavenly richness to every bite. But that's not all! The chicken panini here is equally amazing. The warm, toasted bread encases a medley of flavorful ingredients, creating a symphony of tastes and textures that are simply irresistible. This cozy café offers a delightful experience that keeps me coming back for more. Cant wait to return!! read more
