Overall food and ambience was okay. Service was quick and helpful .Got the Chicharróns and Birria tacos. Tacos were good and juicy. The consume lacked in flavor a little. the Chicharrón were a little on the dry side, but okay. The guac was very nice. The place has a lot of seating inside and large drink selection. Would definitely recommend for some authentic Mexican food. The menu is very large, so I am excited to try more from them!
This is not a planned visit but we were in the area and got hungry. We wanted Mexican food so of course I'm searching on Yelp and decided on this place in based on the reviews. It did not disappoint: We ordered at the counter and waited for our take out. We could have dined in because they have a good size seating area but we felt like eating at home this time. The service was good and they were fairly quick with our food. What we ordered: - Three types of tacos (carnitas, pollo, and al pastor) - Quesabirria tacos with consume - Chicken Burrito Everything was packed well and the food was delicious. We would definitely recommend and would for sure go back.
Hands down the best Mexican spot in Central Jersey. I've had a bunch and as far as quality vs quantity goes, Edison Tex Mex Deli has both. We stopped by on Labor Day as I wanted to bring my family here. Twice, I've had tacos de lengua (tongue), carnitas (fried pork) and al pastor (pork with pineapples) and its pretty much the best tacos I've ever had. The tongue has a flavorful yet soft texture and is one of my favorites. My wife had the birria and they were able to 86 the cilantro since she's not a fan. My mother, whose a big fan of chipotle was completely defeated by the portion if the burrito bowls here. The homemade, attention to detail quality here is top notch and definitely overshadows the larger chain restaurants. We were able to down it with some bottled mexican coke. Parking isn't amazing, but they have a small lot on one side and street parking on the other. Bathrooms are clean and this is a very popular lunch spot for the locals. Pro tip: Eat in! Everything is amazing fresh. I wouldn't imagine the taco shells traveling too well.
So much food for a reasonable price. Everything was fresh and tasty but I don't recommend the chicharrones because they were dry. Great place though!
Authentic Mexican food that never disappoints and all at a reasonable price. The restaurant layout is cafeteria style. You order at the counter and there is lots of seating (and lots of somewhat awkward empty space with house plants). The service is quick and it looks like lots of folks order takeout or pickup. The birria tacos were delicious: tender meat and flavorful birria stew. The steak burrito was massive for the price (a bit heavy on the rice).
Happy to support this local business especially because they're supporting my son's football team fundraiser. Go Edison Eagles!
I went here for the second time in a span of two weeks. I was drawn in by the quesabirria- which is if birria tacos and quesadillas had a baby ... yes.. YUM! When I brought the quesabirria back to work I drew a lot of attention and promised I'd gladly go back with two of my colleagues the following week. The quesabirria is huge!! It's about $16 which is a lot for a quesadilla but this thing is packed with delicious flavorful beef, the outside is so buttery and crisp, and it's... HUGE! It comes in a large pizza box and fills up most of the space inside. I had intended to order something different my second time around but this was just calling my name, I couldn't help but feel sad at the thought of not having it while someone else did! It also comes with two spicy sauces- my favorite is the green sauce. I also got chips and guacamole the second time around and the guac was just perfect! I like some chunks in guacamole and they delivered, it was also very fresh. The dining area is spacious, the staff is very friendly. The lady (maybe the owner?) who rung us up today told us their food is best when you eat it there, so that is something to keep in mind. Our office is about 15 mins away and the food still tasted great and fresh when we got there, but of course nothing beats fresh from the oven- so one day I will definitely try it, and if you can, order and dine in so you can also eat the food as the chefs intend it to be!
The food was fresh, quick, and there has got to be a secret menu. I started off the meal with Jamaica. It wasn't too sweet and was the perfect refreshing drink for the dull afternoon. I went straight for the al pastor, carnitas, and a special pork taco with grilled onions. I really enjoyed the first two, but the third just didn't hit. The cuts of meat used in the special pork taco wasn't it. Pork can get dry if cooked too long and I think that is what happened. While I was waiting, I saw this man eating what looked like Barria Ramen. I looked all around the restaurant for anything that said "ramen", but couldn't find it. I am intrigued and what to go back for it because it looked delicious.
Always passed by, but have never stopped by this place until today. Upon coming in, the interior is very clean and simple with Mexican style decor. There are multiple menus and a lot of variety of typical dishes. I knew I wanted to get some type of taco, I ordered the legua tacos & the stomach soup. My husband ordered another dish that came with meat, rice, beans, veggies. Tacos came in fast and shortly after so did the rest of the food. All the food was delicious and very authentic! I also ordered additional legua tacos, pastor tacos, & another taco that the gentleman at the cashier recommended that was popular. Those orders are in my fridge and I will finish this weekend. It's 10pm and I'm still full from those dishes so we are satisfied. There's parking in the back and entrance there so you don't have to walk around the building.
All the food we would order is spot on, but what stood out is their quesabirria-- which I think is off menu. We've had their steak burrito, birria tacos, quesadilla and chicken tacos--5 stars for food. Flavorful and spiced just right. Their quesabirria has a kick to it, meat and spices heated up to a great crunch, served with Birria consommé and other salsas. Served in a pizza box! What made me take off a star is we ordered from this place twice and both times we had to wait another 30 minutes to get our food. Both times when we called, they said the food would we really in 45 mins. We timed our drive and drove 25 minutes away only to wait for another 30 minutes and then drive home afterwards, which really was a bummer time-wise.
I'd never even heard of a birria taco until my greedy buzzard (in a loving way) hubby came across it on Tic Toc, of all places... He was on a mission to find a great one, and a great one he did find! Wow. This was such a treat! The birria taco platter came with 3 perfectly sized, perfectly fried tacos.. piled high with deliciously juicified pulled pork. Since I'm a little shy with how much meat I can take, so I had to take some off.. but my husband was happy to assist in that area. I made sure not to give him much of the onion and cilantro that completed every bite. Now... of course... a birria taco is not one without the dipping "sauce" that I liken to an au jus? This was a gem of a meal... and I can't wait to return and bring some fellow greedy buzzards along.
This place is a hidden gem. About a 3 months ago I discovered Birria Kitchen in Edison which is also amazing but this place is a little closer to my house. I have had the El pastor tacos, chicken Birria tacos, and the quesobirria which is a Birria style quesadilla. The inside of the restaurant is large, plenty of seating. Large menu with plenty of authentic selections. They even serve breakfast here. I would have rated the restaurant 5 stars but the consome kind of reminded me of a simple chicken stock/broth or a bone broth. Didn't have much flavor to it. I have ordered take out when I went and you do wait a while for your meal if you don't call ahead which I would recommend...other than that the food here is excellent and portion size is great.
Amazing Birria Tacos and even better customer service! I had al pastor and beef, they were very accommodating with any additions or changes I wanted to make.

It's ok. Not sure why it's popular because I feel like the other places are similar. Tasted fine but nothing special. Basically in line with other tex mex joints. I was surprised that there were so many Mexican clientele here. Horchata a rip off Don't serve water which is annoying. read more

This place is a hidden gem. About a 3 months ago I discovered Birria Kitchen in Edison which is also amazing but this place is a little closer to my house. I was so hungry so stopped at this spot after church. I called in my order of the beef birria tacos, no cheese or cilantro. The nice lady said it would take 20 minutes. When I arrived I parked in their lot. The food was ready and it was a little over $13. When I got home I dug in and it wasn't bad. It had a little spice to it and the flavor was good. I have to try chicken next. All in all I had a good experience. read more

Stopped by at the suggestion of a friend. I ordered a Taylor ham egg and cheese plain. The person argued with me that it's pork roll. Strike 1. Than I ordered coffee. He said he doesn't have any but offered me fruit juice. Strike 2. I said no and he said he'd make me some. I said cream and sugar. He said no cream just milk or I can drink it black. Strike 3. I told him forget it. I'm not ordering anything and I walked out. I walked down the street to a place I already reviewed. Note, the place was deserted at 9:30 in the morning. That should say something. It appeared clean. I will not be back and don't recommend this place. There are better places in the area. read more
You know why I love Yelp so much? When you meet a new friend, read their reviews, bookmark some of them & you find a gem of a place. HOLY MOLE!!! These tacos are frickin amazing! As per my new friend's review...I ordered exactly as per his specifications. A taco item not on their menu is their Birria tacos that comes in a fried shell. The seasoning is perfect and when you dip it in that birria stew, it will have your tastebuds dancing. Not only did I want to drench the whole thing in, I wanted to pick up the bowl and drink up all that "au jus". I've had some amazing ones in L.A. and it's nice to finally have a good taco spot near me. When it comes to tacos, it's all about the meats. Like my Yelper said, you can hear the sizzling from the kitchen as you wait for your food. They really take pride in what they serve up here. Here are some of the others that we tried that were served in a double soft taco shell: - Taco al Pastor (pineapple & spicy pork) - Taco de Lengua (beef tongue) - Taco de Carnitas Why the hell not? I dunked these into that birria au jus as well. We finished the meal with a Tres Leches cake. O...M...G, super moist & perfectly sweet! I hate that I had to share this. I look forward to trying the flan next time. I must've driven past this place countless times & never paid any mind to it. My son's former H.S. is only 5 minutes away. This place is awesome the food is great and the owner and staff are amazing. Ask for the tacos Birria style regardless of the taco you ask for definitely makes a big difference in the taste. They have a big menu of other food options but I came here specifically for the tacos. So Good !! At the moment they only have a few tables to sit at but a lot of people order take out . After a bite, I feel like I'm in the hot LA California weather again. Over and over with each bite. Until other NJ "mexican" restaurants put out tacos that are more juicy, this is my spot. Get the al pastor and birria tacos (you'll thank me, secret menu item) IMMEDIATELY. The birria tacos come in a fried shell. It's nicely salted with some heat hanging onto the fatty pulled beef. You want that sour, and slightly sweet crunch of a mess. The crispiness is complimented with that birria stew dipping sauce on the side. CURTIS ORDERS you to dip your birria taco in this. It's a missed opportunity if you forgo this "au jus" sauce designed to drench this natural MSG delight! Al Pastor, holy pig it glistens. Do you see what I am seeing? The sliced marinated pork and pineapple pieces are the result of some loud searing and sizzling I hear from the kitchen all the way to where I sit. Slightly sweeter than the birria tacos, the al pastor comes in double wrapped soft tortillas. Soft with a good chew. The acidity of the marinated meat coming in with the lime you squeeze. Acidity against fat, against heat, and against salt. So much balance adding dimensions to your food! By the way these are just two tacos, and each I can taste their own distinct mixture of spices. No need for other garnishes, cilantro and onion is enough. Pricing is great. An order of 3x al pastor is around $7.50 and the 3x birria tacos is $11.94 pretax. If anyone ailing from dry tacos in NJ, look no further. Come here to cure your lust for legitimate tacos. Taco Tuesday daily year round please! read more

So I ordered beef empanadas and it was sooo Dried ! And plain ! No flavor at all. Do not order this ! And I order burria style for my carne asada. First of all they charge $12 for 3 tacos which is like almost $5 extra but they gave me no soup with it. So I got three dried out tacos for that price which I could have had 5 regular tacos. I live far so can't make it back to get the soup so that was supper disappointing. read more

been craving for tacos and came across this place. We decided to give it a try because it has good reviews, however sad to say, I expected way too much from this place. We came in, and sat while looking at the menu, after that we go up to place our orders (some things like tamales and other stuff are not on the menu, I don't know why) the guy in the cashier with one of his eyebrow shaved, he kinda have a little bit of an attitude. Anyways, after we placed our order, it took probably about 30 mins to receive our order, even that, they still get one of my orders wrong. The taste of the was okay, nothing amazing. The taco wrap was not that good. Would I come back? Sure if I have no other option, but would I crave for their food? Not at all. Overall, I would recommend for u to try, maybe you'll like it. Now i leave a lot of good reviews because I spent an incredible amount of time finding the best spots. Notoriously, Mexican food sucks in this area. THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD! I got the veggie tacos and my boyfriend got the chorizo tacos. He took one bite literally said holy fuck and told the waiter he had goosebumps it was so good. Everything was amazing and clearly so fresh. The place looks really new lots of seating. If you like tacos you must come here!!! read more
