Cafe Zio has always been a long time favorite of mine, even if there is no seating inside. This place has plenty of parking in their lot, and they even deliver your drink or food to your car (implemented during COVID and it stuck). I first came here when you had to order at the cashier, and there were stamp cards. Now, it is all done at a kiosk with rewards done on the Toast app. I don't like how ordering on the kiosk doesn't allow you to adjust for the ice or sweet level (at least on our drinks). At the end of the kiosk menu, it'll ask you for your make, model, and color of your car- along with relatively where you parked. If you sign up with your number, you get $5 for your birthday. They will bring you the drink with your straw. I like that they have a vast menu, from smoothies, specialty drinks, milk or fruits boba to croffles and ice cream. Bubbles and other toppings are not included in the fruit and milk teas so you will have to order it for your drink. Despite that, prices are reasonable. All of the employees have been really nice and helpful every time I have come in. After you order, you wait in your car and they bring it out to you. Their Dalgona Coffee is very different from the regular Dalgona coffee's I've had prior. Theirs is actually the Korean Dalgona Candy which features the Honeycomb Toffee on top. This drink as it is on par with the Brown Sugar drinks, I've tasted. It is sweet and you can have two (2) shots of espresso, poured on top. It sounded so appealing, Hubby decided to request one of his own. Neither of us requested any bobas but you can add some if you so desire. They do offer a choice of milk for your drinks. In addition to their regular milk, as well as skim, they also offer alternative milk such as soy, almond, and Lactaid milk. This small cafe is tight and due to the pandemic, about 3 people are allowed inside while maintaining a 6 ft distance. After you place your order, you can either wait outside, where they provided some chairs for you or you can be seated inside your car. Even though I've been frequenting Cafe Zio for the past 3 years, I'm surprised I haven't reviewed it yet. The service and food are both great and you can't beat the price. My friends and I will always come here after exams to drink our depression away :D I recommend ordering on the kiosk inside and the workers will bring your order to your car. You can also order pickup through the Toast app. The owners and workers are super nice! My boyfriend orders the same thing every time we visit so the owners remember us and will have his drink ready when I finish ordering. A lot of their menu items are also homemade (for example, they make their strawberry puree for the strawberry milk). Sundays are one of their busiest days so I recommend going on a weekday. For drinks, my go-to is passionfruit and orange green tea with 50% sugar, less ice, and tapioca pearls. Other great options are the pong shake, cream matcha latte, and purple potion smoothie. Its a local shop pretty small inside but there is a way to order via a kiosk or at the counter. There seems to be three people in the back making teas. The menu is not your traditional menu more like a contemporary coffee shop like. There is no seating on the inside a few chairs on the outside and Its You choose the type of tea 3 to choose from. Your own combo of flavors to add and the topping. There is a creamy base which is the milk base vs the non creamy which has no milk just tea and flavoring. We got the mangolada. The initial taste is pina colada but then the mango taste hits. Also gotten the oolong with honeydew and boba and pudding, at first i was worried that i made the wrong choice in not choosing the creamy but as the guy being out the teas to us and i had my first sip in anticipation that i needed a cream base. I was really surprised i really love it. The flavor of the tea and the honeydew needed no milk. I would definitely order a non milk base. The only thing is its a little sweet personally for me, but its also hard to find a place that brews good tea that you don't need milk. Because I am fond of coffee, my favorite is the Dalgona Latte. It's got the creaminess, sugary caramel sweetness from the Dalgona Toffee and the bitterness from the espresso to balance everything out.....for me. The Classic Milk Tea which is a black tea latte is rich and creamy with a noticeable black tea flavor. I would choose this over the Brewed Tea with dairy since the latter is a bit thin for my taste. I wanted to give 5 stars because she was such a total sweetheart and because it's a little family place, but the boba itself is not to my taste. In a town like Edison with some of the best bubble tea in New Jersey, in fact in the whole of the Northeast, I have to admit that I expect more than the national old-style standard and average-tasting chemical-ish syrupy Boba that I experienced here. I've had a million bobas like this, usually less imaginative and with less fun service and iffy decor, but here, the decor and service and imagination are faultless and wonderful. I have been coming here for a while now and could not make up my mind about which way to go about reviewing this place. I finally reached my decision after dealing with the gentlemen that works at this location. I have been trying their bubble tea for quite some time now and I couldn't make up my mind. Devil's Waffle: This is very delicious and has a lot of chocolate in it. Milk Tea Iced Frappe w/ Strawberry Boba: This definitely has the milk tea taste and the strawberry boba was just OK. It is very unique how they made this because to me it tasted a bit like a smoothie/slush type. Mango Green Tea w/ Boba: I was not very impressed with this drink and maybe it is because of the sugar level. I like things really sweet and maybe this just wasn't sweet enough for me. It had a hint of mango but not a strong taste to it. Cappuccino: This is like any ordinary cappuccino to me but my daughter got it with no sugar so it was not really to my liking. Mango Green Tea w/ Mango Popping Boba: This was not as sweet as I thought it would be. The mango popping boba gave it the taste that I needed in this mango green tea. Lychee Green Tea w/ Lychee Popping Boba: My brother got this and he said it was sweet enough for him. He said there was a lychee taste to it and the lychee popping boba gave it the extra kick that it needed. Strawberry Punch Smoothie: This was a smoothie type of a drink with a strawberry taste and a lemonade taste. This is by far the best thing I have tried so far. Thai Tea Slush: My youngest daughter loves this drink so much that she always gets it. He isn't really too thrilled about the boba in the drink because it taste a bit different. Overall: I was going to give this place a lower rating because their drinks did not impress me. However, the gentlemen and the girl that works here have very good customer service. He remembered that my daughter gets a thai tea slush with boba and the girl knows the sugar level that my daughter gets. I am glad that this guy remembers my daughters drink because I never remember it and that just shows he knows his customers. I wanted to eat something sweet and this place was nearby. I looked through the photos on yelp and saw they sell croffles. Got there at 6:30 and they close at 7pm. Its located on the side of the building its connected to other businesses. No people and no lines. Its very small inside. After ordering they ask which car you have since they will deliver it in your car. While waiting in our car for it there was so many more people that came afterwards even if it was already almost closing they still took everyones order. I really like how this cafe really breaks down the steps to ordering your bubble tea. They have options to hot, cold, creamy and non creamy teas. Their is an assortment of flavors as well as different types of boba to add. It's a relaxing vibe inside but it's super tiny and not really great for big groups. They have signs on the table that basically say you have an hour to sit before giving your spot to another patron. I have to say it's a really great spot for some yummy bubble tea for sure though. I can say that drink is delicious, you can taste a bit of the powder but it's not bad and the flavor of mango is good! The second drink I got is green tea mango passion fruit with lychee jelly. Love this neighborhood boba shop! Among all the chains available in Edison it can be hard to stand out but Cafe Zio is certainly special. They have a wide variety of drinks, from fruity to herbal flavors to special ones like dalgona latte to strawberry milk. They have an iPad you can order with, or at the counter. There is no seating inside, only for take out. There's a bench outside but it's right in the parking lot so not a great place to drink your drink. The drinks are delicious though! Never knew this place existed till recently! Bubble teas are much cheaper here compared to other places and its relatively close to Hmart and the other big supermarkets. My wife and I love the croffles here since they are so delectable and sweet. I work nearby so I will be popping my head in every so often. read more
