Came here around 11am for brunch as a quick bite. Its all self serve either on the kiosk or thru the QR code on the table. If you order thru the QR code it is priced cheaper than on the kiosk, and the qr code had more options. I ordered one of the set, pineapple bun, curry fish ball and the pork cutlet rice. Everything came out quickly. The point deduction had to go to the flavor and temperature of the food. Curry balls and the pineapple bun were good. Curry ball was warm and tasted like any other ones you can get elsewhere, nothing notable. The pineapple bun was also mediocre but not bad. The platters were all cold even though it was recently brought out. The cutlet w/ tomato sauce was soggy and had no crunch to it.
Last time I was here, they were more of a bubble tea café with a handful of pastries. I'm pretty sure it's the same owner, but now they offer full meals as well. They make their tea and fruit purées from scratch, and brought that ethos into their hot food. It was pretty slow on a Sunday night, and someone actually took the type to talk me through the different options. I wasn't that familiar with Hong Kong cuisine. The employees described it to me as fusion. For example, for some of the dishes on the menu, you can get pasta instead of rice. I asked for a drink recommendation that didn't have caffeine, and ordered the suggested mango pomelo drink. It was very bright and tasty. It had a good variety of flavors and textures between the fruit puree, the clear jelly/crystal Boba, and the very light cream/foam on top. Not too sweet, so you can actually taste the different flavors. Also, it's the largest "regular" sized drink I've gotten in the area. Definitely worth a try! I ordered the Combo D, which is their Slippery Egg Pork Chop Over Rice, after hearing how they marinate the pork and use their own breadcrumb mixture (can confirm, is well seasoned). The red tomato sauce on top is a Japanese-style curry. The pork was tender, flavorful and delightfully crispy. To enjoy this meal at its peak crunch, eat it as soon as possible. Otherwise, the steam gradually softens the fried bits. There was more egg and pork than rice, so if you're the type of person who likes a little bit of each flavor in each bite, I recommend getting a second serving of rice. Between my drink and the portions, I could only finish about half of my meal. I'm looking forward to eating my leftovers for an easy and tasty breakfast. I do have a smaller appetite, so having leftovers might not be a universal experience. I also added a serving of vegetables. Apparently, HK Alley sells out of their pork cutlets and pineapple buns pretty often, and I can understand why! They have ordering kiosks, and signs that say they don't do tips. Overall, 10/10 would buy again. Kind of mad that I'm still full three hours later, because I know my leftovers will be delicious.
I had high hope for this place serving HK style food. It's a little on the pricey side and I think the rice and pasta a little undercooked and hard. But other than that the food is decent though not all that HK style. The fried pork chop was excellent. Soft and crunchy. HK style milk tea has the HK milk tea taste. We also had the strawberry flavor milk which was ok. The black pepper chicken was just ok. There's no tip. You can a QR code to order or use the kiosk and they bring you the food in takeout containers, if you don't finish they have lids for you. The workers are super nice and came multiple times to ask about the food and stuff.
We came in on a Thursday night around 7pm. When you come in you see signs to order at the kiosk and that it is a no tip establishment. We ordered and sat down. What we ordered: - Slippery Egg Pork Chop Over Rice combo with a Deluxe Passion Fruit Green Tea with Boba - Ribeye Steak over Noodles combo with a Strawberry Creme Brulee milk (Black Pepper Steak) The food came out pretty quickly and it was all very delicious. You have to grab your own plastic ware and napkins from the table in the back. The table also has tops for all the containers in case you do not finish and need to take it home. Around 7:35 a worker came over to check if we wanted to order anything else because they were about to close the kitchen. He was very nice about it, I can tell he wasn't trying to rush us just wanted to make sure. As we were finishing up our meal, another worker came and gave us a container of freshly cut oranges! So incredibly sweet. I couldn't finish my meal because they gave a generous portion so I brought it home to my partner and he absolutely killed it and thought it was so good! I will definitely be back and recommend it to everyone!
It is nice to have a Hong Kong style cafe in NJ that we don't need to travel to NY Chinatown.. they offer variety of HK cafe style food like pineapple bun with thick slice of butter, fried pork chop over rice with tomato sauce, or black pepper sauce, different kind of tea, boba, and shakes.. service was quick and easy, you order via a kiosk, or you can order via QR code on the table (if you want to dine in).. they bring out your food in a take out container so you can easily pack your left over without waiting for a carryout box.. taste wise it's good... flavorful... would go back to try other food as well.. the only thing is the store is small so you might not find seat if you go in during meal time, parking is "scary" to me but guess you can park farther and walk over...
Got chicken and egg over rice. The egg was insanely salty. What is worse: the cook didn't realize they put way too much salt in, or they didn't care? Completely inedible and that comes from someone who likes my food salty. The chicken was solid, not dry, but also not crispy as promised. Wife ordered chicken baked noodles and the noodles were not up to her standards. The salt egg pineapple bun was the best part of the meal. I changed it from 2 stars to 1 star because of the restaurant's response. See my reviews for other restaurants and you decide! I reviewed the one right next door 4 stars. They don't take responsibility and they lie. Stay away!
I recently discovered Fresh O' Tea in Edison. They brew fresh teas and use freshly cut fruit. It's never been too busy when I've visited. Here's what I tried: - Red bean milkshake - 4/5 stars - Cheese Foam Black Grape - 5/5 stars - Pineapple buns heated with butter - 5/5 stars - Kiwi Mango Green Tea - 5/5 stars - Creme Brulee Milk Tea - 4/5 stars - Grapefruit Orange Green Tea - 4/5 stars - Pineapple buns heated with fresh taro - 4/5 stars All their teas are freshly brewed, with a focus on tea-forward Hong Kong teas. My husband was surprised by how strong the tea flavor was in my HK Creme Brulee Milk Tea without sugar; he thought it needed 30% sugar. The tea uses evaporated milk, giving it a luxurious creme brulee taste. Surprisingly, they don't offer milk substitutes. The staff are very friendly and make excellent recommendations if you are ever unsure of anything. They do take pride in making their drinks for you as they explain they brew their own teas and there are no powered utilized to make their drinks and snacks. There aren't many tables, but there is a stage with available seating. Since it wasn't busy during my visits, I had my pick of seats. Parking can be tricky, but there's more parking in the back, which is safer and makes it easier to pull out onto the street. Service: 5/5 stars Food: 5/5 stars Ambiance: 4/5
I tried their garlic pineapple bun this time along with the original. I think the garlic one has more flavor imo. But if you dislike the taste of garlic, I recommend you go with original instead. I ate lunch before stopping by, but next time I would really wanna try their pork chop pineapple bun. Can't wait!
Located in what was once Moge Tea, Fresh O Tea has a variety of quality beverages and snacks. Ambience is same, not much has changed design wise from its predecessor. Ordered was a Grapefruit Orange Tea. Bits of fresh grapefruit and orange pulp were interspersed in green tea, giving my beverage notes of orange, layered with grapefruit rind, topped with a slice of lemon, adding a citric freshness to what is a slightly sweet drink with 30% sugar. The tea was refreshing. A Pineapple bun with taro paste was ordered as well. The bun was served warm with taro paste sandwiched inside. The bun crust was slightly sweet, with a crunchy topping and stuffed with sweet taro paste. A must for pineapple bun and taro fans. Staff is super helpful with any questions regarding ingredients. Notes: * Parking in front and behind store * Rewards program * Kiosk or order in person * Uses dairy, no alternative dairy available
Probably one of the best places to get a Hong Kong Milk Tea. I love how strong the tea is and balances with the milk and sugar.
I was curious to try this spot because it used to be Moge Tee. Now with the name change and same management I wanted to see if the quality of drinks and service was just as good as it was before. Ambiance - love the variety in seating options. You can sit in more traditional booth seating or sit in a more relaxed tiered seating area - plenty of natural sunlight Service - friendly staff - attentive general manager: my friend got her drink but realized that it was too sweet for her. The general manager insisted on remaking her drink for her to her liking. - drinks were made really quickly! I had my drink in my hand right as I finished paying My drink - Hong King Milk Tea- 30% sugar with boba. I enjoyed my drink! Black tea flavor was strong and the sweetness level was just right for me. Boba could have been chewier and more qq I'll definitely be coming back! It's the perfect dessert/drink spot after a good meal at the other restaurants in the same strip mall
Atmosphere: 5 Recently revamped and rebranded, this tea shop has a unique menu. My favorite is their Hong Kong Style Milk Tea. It's the only one in the area that I know of that has it. I love their seating area with the different levels. It's so fun and I can imagine a group of friends hanging out. Portion: 5 They have a medium, large and a super large (not sure what they call it) size for their drinks. Their biggest one is HUGE! I have yet to order one that big. Just their large (their middle size) is enough for me. Flavors: 5 The HK Style Milk Tea is SPOT ON. It really hits the spot. It's creamy, and has a strong tea taste. The best part is being able to adjust the sweetness level. I've had it hot and have had it cold. There's no compromise in flavor at all. I've been here multiple times already. Be sure to try their HK Style Milk Tea. Classically, without boba!
Had a milk tea and a watermelon slushie. Milk tea went down great and watermelon slushie was good but they added this cheesecake? Whipped topping. I do like cheesecake? whipped topping but I am not sure how well it went with the watermelon slushie. Staff was super nice and told me that more flavors were coming later on in the day which did happen. Drinks were pre-prepared so that service could be expedient. This food stand was outdoors under a tent.
I've been here before when they only offered bubble tea and I'm glad they've expanded to also offer food. The menu is limited and they offer mainly Hong Kong style snacks and rice/spaghetti dishes. It is a self-serve, no tip restaurant so you'll need to either order their their kiosk machines, or there's QR codes available on the table for you to order from your phone. We ordered their slippery egg chicken rice combo with Hong Kong style milk tea with aged tangerines, a slippery egg rice with pork chop, and also baked pork chop rice with curry sauce and cheese. The slippery egg rice was on point. The eggs were silky, moist and velvety , almost custard like in texture. It was also rich and savory. I like how the chicken was lightly fried without having too much breading. They used chicken thighs so it was moist, tender and well seasoned. The fried pork chop, which was similar to pork katsu, was perfectly fried with a crispy, well seasoned crust which adhered well to the meat. The meat was juicy and succulent. The curry had a mild kick which I liked and there were also little pieces of carrots and potatoes in it. The only thing was I felt there was a little too much sauce as I felt the rice was drenched in it, which made it a little too rich for my liking. The lemon tea with aged tangerines was my favorite. The lemon tea tasted authentic. One of the best I've had including the ones I've tried in the Hong Kong style cafes in nyc. The tea flavor is intense which I can tell it's not just from a tea bag. The tea was balanced well with aged tangerines which added more citrusy and a subtle earthy flavor. The drink is bold yet refreshing. I was told they have a slushy version so I would go back to try it next time. It is self serve as I mentioned before as you will have to go get your own cutlery, plates and napkins at the table by the register. The food came out shortly after I placed my order and the staff were all very friendly. This is a good options for a quick lunch/dinner and price is very reasonable as you can get a dish plus a drink for $20 and under and you don't have to tip. I would return again for sure. read more
Ordered HK Alley because of all the high ratings, but unfortunately, our experience was pretty bad. We ordered the XL Steak and HK Milk Tea. We paid full price and didn't get the discounted combo because we wanted to customize the steak temperature and sweetness of the drink. The XL Steak is described as a ribeye, but what we got was about 3.5 pieces of mystery meat full of tough gristle. We were spitting out every other bite because we literally couldn't chew through it. It honestly felt like they gave us whatever meat they had overstocked or left over. I also don't think they adjusted our milk tea. We requested 50% sweetness, but it wasn't sweet at all. It's not terrible and still drinkable, but definitely not what we expected. The steak was really bad, and unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

We saw all the great reviews - people rave about the milk tea. Next time we will try that. I was hoping for some authentic HK Cafe style food. They have a very limited menu and the food was average. Pork chop was tasty. The toast appeared to be pan fried toast with little evidence of egg. It was like toast with peanut butter which you dip in condensed milk. Overall they should enhance the menu and the food to draw more business. read more

Fresh O Tea is the newest addition to the Edison area. They recently replaced another Bubble Tea shop so hopefully they can keep up in this densely populated area. Their staff are very friendly and helpful, so don't feel intimidated by the menu. It's very spacious with a lovely ambiance so you can sit down and enjoy your drinks and snacks while socializing with friends. I posted a few pictures of inside for your viewing pleasure. As a first time customer, I decided to try their Tea and Snack Combo. I got the HK Bubble Milk Tea which was very good and the bubbles were fresh and chewy. My Pineapple Bun was served hot and fresh with butter inside and it tasted good. Fresh O Tea is located right off route 27 so it's easy to find. It's in mini plaza which has limited parking in the front of building but there's a lot of additional parking in the back for your convenience. They also offer 10% off with student ID so it's definitely worth checking them out! read more

We came here after eating at the wonton guy for a little sweet dessert. The man helping us was super friendly and helpful in his suggestions. We got a taro milk tea, a more traditional drink and a pineapple bun stuffed with taro. They use real taro for everything, no powder here. We were even offered to try a new item they were experimenting with for their menu. I would definitely come again, the owner seems to really care about the quality of his work. read more

Great place to hangout, their milk tea is amazing. "This bubble tea was absolutely phenomenal! First time at HK Alley and while i never heard of it prior to coming here today, i was pleasantly surprised. The food was very delicious. Good portion for a great price. Had a steady flow of customers, not really a full blown restaurant, more of a cafe style. Ambiance was modern, simple, fresh. The only drawback for me was the parking lot. The parking lot is very limited and very tight. If someone is to do a poor job parking, it impacts others and the in and out of the parking lot is facing that of rt27 which is heavy on traffic. read more

Try their [MINI BUTTER BUNs]!!! (aka Bo Luo Bao, which is one of my favorite Asian pastries) These are the only snacks they offer on the menu and yea the price is bit steep BUT you won't regret it! My hubby and I got all four flavors to try (original, garlic, spicy, and taro) and I swear they're ALL delicious. We had to wait a bit for our order so I think they're freshly prepared? HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Would love to see them offering maybe those Bo Luo Bao sandwiches? :D My husband got the [HONG KONG BUBBLE MILK TEA] which is usually pretty highly caffeinated and strong. He enjoyed it. I got the [SIGNATURE BUBBLE MILK TEA] and thought it was ok. Maybe because I prefer Taiwanese style bubble tea. I would say this place is more Cantonese style. INTERIOR - spacious with some pretty cool seating. It looked like they're not fully done decorating the place though. Overall clean. PARKING - there is a larger parking lot in the back plus some spots in the front of the store so do not fret. read more
