We tried Maria's Brunch for a brunch date and really enjoyed it! It was our first time here, and everyone was friendly and welcoming. I'm vegetarian and don't eat eggs, so I ordered the Mexican Chilaquiles without egg. They were super helpful and substituted the egg with beans and mushrooms, which I really appreciated. A lot of places will just remove the egg, so it was nice that they actually replaced it with something. The chilaquiles were flavorful and filling. My husband got the Quesadilla Mex with veggies, and it was HUGE! It was thick and stuffed really well. He couldn't even finish it. It came with salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and a small basket of fries. For the price, I think the portions here are really good. I also got the iced Coko Moko Latte with coconut syrup, chocolate, and a shot of espresso. Really liked this one! The coconut and chocolate went surprisingly well together with the coffee. The location is convenient too, close to downtown Metuchen and Whole Foods, and they have their own parking lot, which is always a plus around this area. I went to this place with my fiancé and overall we had a really good experience. The place was cozy and welcoming. Our waitress was amazing, super friendly and attentive, and the service was great. For drinks, we ordered the Summer Banana Latte and Island Mango Matcha. The matcha was decent, but the latte was pretty mid. The drinks also took quite a while to come out. we actually got our food before our drinks. The food, though, was delicious! I had the Meat Lover Skillet and my fiancé had the Chicken & Waffles. Both were really good, and the portions were generous. We definitely left full with leftovers. I absolutely recommend this place and would come back. Maria's got a glow-up, y'all! The old spot was cute. It was cozy. It was also... tiny. For a place this popular, finding a table on the weekend felt like winning the lottery. But now? SO much more room to breathe. Maria's moved into the old Latin Port space at 87 Central Ave, and they've been in the new location for about two months now. You can actually walk in, have a seat, and not feel like you've accidentally walked into someone's living room. I popped in today for a quick latte to go and went with a hot Coko Loko (that's latte with coconut syrup and a lil' hint of choc). And just when I thought I was done, I got this little surprise at the end: fresh coconut flakes in the final sips. If you're a coconut person, you'll want to try this one! read more

I was also excited that they moved to a bigger, brighter space. There's ample parking in the back or street parking which are refreshing changes compared to the old location. *FOOD* The menu has something for everyone, from classic breakfast staples to more creative brunch options. Come hungry -- the portions are generous and everything tasted fresh and made to order. I highly recommend trying their seasonal tiramisu latte (I seriously would order this everyday if I could) and their Tex-Fast Bowl which was decadently delicious. The drink was creamy with a hint of sweetness and definitely lived up to its name. We tried their new, bigger, space midweek, on a Wednesday at about 10AM, so it wasn't busy. We were seated immediately and within a few minutes placed our order; the waitress was helpful and seemed to know the menu well. When our food arrived, the first thing I noticed was that it was beautiful. The avocado toast was just spectacular (see photos) and the cappucino had a cool design in the foam. The second thing I noticed was that my egg white omelette was bright yellow. Um, really? So the waitress returned it to the kitchen, and brought back my toast to eat while I waited for the new omelette. Really???? I watched as my breakfast partner enjoyed her avocado toast, and as my toast got cold. After my partner had finished her breakfast, my omelette arrived, and I had to request fresh toast. My omelette their "Best Green" was mediocre at best. My partner's avocado toast was good. The coffees were OK. If the waitress had been decent, and had some common sense, I *may* have rated 4 stars. But my experience was 1) mediocre food, 2) less than adequate server, and 3) outrageously expensive breakfast. Will I try Maria's Brunch again? Maybe, just maybe. read more

I went to the new location on Central Ave. it is a bigger space than Durham, but I'm not quite sure the staff can handle it yet. No water refills, waiting a super long time for the waiter to come around so we could ask for the check so I had to go to the front to ask someone. The food was okay. Big portions, but nothing we ordered was special. Wish the chicken and waffle used dark meat. Avocado eggsplosion was also just ok. My lavender haze iced matcha drink was probably the best thing. I would probably come back to try some other dishes. Some people around us had a giant dish with chorizo and things that looked good, so I may have to try that. read more

Yes! Yes! YES! Highly recommend! The pancakes were literally the best I've ever had! They taste like they're made with cornmeal, and WOW! The French toast was absolutely delicious and the tiramisu latte was also great. Came here on an early monday morning and was seated right away. I previously came to this place twice where there was a 90 min wait time so I left. Im glad I got to experience the great food. I've reviewed Maria's before and I'm returning to race avoid the Avocroissant dish. Every now and then I come across a dish that I'll be thinking about for some time, this was one of those dishes for me. Everything was super fresh! The croissant was super soft and topped with avocado, cheese, eggs, and bacon. The pesto on the side was amazing. I paired my dish with home fries and a sugar cookie latte. The location is small so there's always a wait (understandably). We were pleasantly surprised when our 45 minute wait time was only about 20. The service was super friendly and efficient. Came here on a Friday morning with the Mystery man for breakfast. First let me start off by saying it was packed lol! I already knew it was going to be good just based on there being no parking spaces left in the lot! We walked in after parking on the street. What a find! We found this place after a long search when in town and not finding what I wanted in a diner. Maria's brunch is located near downtown Metuchen and is truly a gem. A smaller parking lot so you may need to find street parking and don't be surprised if there is a wait. Truly worth the wait thought. Inside you will find a cozy little cafe style dining room. I appreciated that they have unlimited regular coffee and as I saw signature lattes going by they looked great as well. They have an extensive menu with a wide array of options and one thing of note is you can order sides so I ordered some eggs scrambled as that wasn't listed in the menu. These were some of the best textured pancakes I have eaten in a while as they are so fluffy and smooth. These cheesecake bites in between were great touch and this does not need any syrup as the strawberry compote is delicious. Definitely will be back again! read more

My party of 6 was able to be accommodated without a reservation on a Sunday to outdoor seating in August which was fine because inside was very crowded and loud anyway. We enjoyed our time catching up with old friends and were not rushed. This place also has the best pancakes I've had at a restaurant with crispy edges and the perfect fluffiness (and I'm a HUGE pancake critic so I took a risk here). But well worth it! Cute little spot in Metuchen. It was packed. You can get on the waitlist over the phone. I was told it was a 2 hour wait but to show up 30 min prior. We showed up at 1:30pm and there was 1 empty table. We still waited about 15 minutes and they gave us the empty table. We ordered the chorizo special. And the Dubai waffles. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend trying seasonal coffee/cappuccino/latte drinks. Personally, I prefer them for "dessert". Iced Tiramasu latte is a favorite of mine. Maria's Brunch in Metuchen is such a cute and cozy spot, definitely worth the visit. I went recently and had the Thrilled Cheese with the Tomato Basil Soup and I'm still thinking about it. The sandwich was perfectly crispy and cheesy, and the soup was so flavorful and comforting. Together, it was the best combo: simple but done so well. The whole vibe of the place is really warm and welcoming. Our waiter, Nic, was so sweet and attentive. He made us feel right at home and gave great recommendations too. We were able to find parking in their small lot, but when we left there were others eagerly waiting to take our spot. I ordered a chorizo benedict from their spring specials. The plate was loaded with delicious chorizo! The traditional hollandaise sauce came with a delightful a chipotle twist. I mopped it up with my potatoes. My wife ordered the waffle sandwich and was a bit disappointed. The piece of fried chicken tasted like a defrosted tender and the hash browns followed suit. The waffle was okay, but needed to be firmer. My son loved his, but that's the difference between a 4 year old and mom! When I walked in, that staff was very friendly and cleaned a table quickly for me and got me seated as soon as one was available. They were also very quick with taking my order and getting my check after I was done. That swiftness was much appreciated considering I was grabbing lunch in between classes at college. The prices for the specialty sandwiches were also very affordable for the amount of sandwich I ended up getting! Now, the bread was a little dry and the sandwich didn't hold together all that greatly, but I wouldn't call it a bad meal, and it was certainly filling. Also, comparing the menu to the one from 2 years ago, I can say that the prices haven't changed (at least for the specialty sandwiches), which is very nice to see. Nice little cozy brunch restaurant built into a house on a corner in metuchen NJ. I ordered a breakfast burrito (Scrambled eggs, ham, peppers, onions, cheddar cheese & tomatoes, served with salsa ).
