    Potato egg

Love this is cute and warm brunch spot. Second time coming here and was immediately greeted and seated. For food, ordered the penne alla vodka, the potato egg, and the strawberry shortcake bubble waffle. For drinks, ordered coffee and hazelnut Nutella frappe, which was really good. The food was great like always!

It was such a cute little surprise. From the outside, it looks like a total hole in the wall, but once you walk in, super cute, nicely decorated, and definitely a vibe. I ordered the berry cream frappe and my boyfriend got a coffee. Both were pretty good! For food, I had the chicken and waffles and he got the bacon, egg, and cheese. Presentation was on point, but the flavor was kind of missing for me. My boyfriend said he's been here before and the pizzettes were really good last time, so maybe that's what I'll try next time. Staff was friendly, and overall it was a nice chill spot. I'd go back.

    Caramel iced latte

This is such a hidden gem. Benedicts can always be hit or miss but theirs is cooked perfectly. It would be so nice if there was an option to add a third egg as an up charge because the eggs felt a little light compared the other other ingredients. Even still, it was delicious. The iced latte also comes with whipped cream and a drizzle Service is quick and friendly and there is a cute little vibe in the dining room. The front of the building is very unassuming but don't let that fool you.

Ambiance was nice, came at noon on a Thursday. Place is clean and tidy. Server was friendly. Brick oven pizza smelled great. I ordered a turkey bowl and it tasted amazing.

A cute homely brunch spot in Sayerville! It appears to be a converted pizzeria to a brunch place, but they still have some pizettes on the menu as well. The decor is very adorable here with rustic taste and half-wall mirrors to make the place feel roomy. The food here is pretty decent, with extra points to the plating. They are definitely heavy on the sauce for both the chicken and waffles and the eggs benedicts. The chicken and waffles though are nice and crispy because they use a bubble waffle base. The eggs benedict was very chopped up for an eggs benedict, but made the sauce drench the dish and become a lil saucey. I loved the omelet though, as it was a fritata style omelette which was nice and moist. The house-baked bread was definitely a highlight, listed as a bread crisp on their menu because it is extra toasted (and not going to lie, a lil burnt on the sides), but it is delicious with a little butter or paired with the omelet on top. I was excited to see a "live performance" aspect of the cafe del notto, which is basically just coffee milk, but they shake up the espresso and milk in front of you. Truly not much to see and for $8 for 1, I would have been pretty upset, but $12 for 2 made me feel a little bit less ripped off. It is delicious, just painfully simple; shaken milk, with a shot of espresso put in. Overall, a cute brunch place to check out!

    Crispy prosciutto sandwich

I had the crispy prosciutto sandwich. Overall I felt the individual ingredients in the dish were high quality and tasty (the bread, cheese, sauce). I just didn't like that for the "mixed greens" on my sandwich they used romaine. I wasn't really a fan of a poached egg on romaine with olive oil drizzle. I think if it had been arugula it would have been perfect.

I have been twice and both times everything was just wonderful. Both times our table ordered several dishes and shared so I got to taste various things. From pancakes to french toast, pizzettes to benny bowls and basic chicken fingers with fries, everything was just great. All the ingredients and flavor combinations were top notch and thoughtful. I have been to many local places, some very popular and busy, but lately i have just been wishing I just went to Brunch Box instead.

Nice way to start your day... Weekend breakfast review. We came in on a Sunday morning about 10:30 or so. I believe that BrunchBox opened not too long ago. It kind of looks like it used to be a pizzeria at one time. Located in a small strip mall on the opposite end of Sayreville and real close to South River. This place is small in the front as you walk in. But opens up for a good amount of tables in the back area. For starters, what else but 2 cappuccinos. They look almost like goblets in size. :) We ordered two breakfast bowls. For her a Gobble Benny that had turkey bacon/turkey sausage, spinach, plus a garlic sauce. I went for the Uncle Benedetto bowl. They look very similar. But this had crispy pancetta, fresh mozzarella/arugula, a lemon hollandaise sauce drizzled with garlic aioli. Service was excellent. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food that you get. Sure beats going to a crowded diner on a weekend. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Looking for something different? This is the place. Creative food made with care. I had the Florentine frittata the first time I came and the crispy prosciutto sandwich the second time. Both were great, you can tell they don't want to be your basic eggs and bacon dining spot. The staff is wonderful, you really feel like part of the community when you eat here. For food with flavor and a place that cares this is my new breakfast spot. Awesome.

Really, really good tavern pie, although I wouldn't necessarily call it a traditional tavern pizza…read more When I think tavern, I think crackery crust. That is not this. The caramelized ring of cheese around the edge is brilliant. The bottom was a hair undercooked and therefore a little limp but not too bad. One other reason for the limp is the very generous amount of cheese that solidifies into a shield atop the pizza. The sauce is a tad sweet but not too bad. I know I have nitpicked a bit here but it is still excellent pizza and worth a stop if you are in the area.

8/14/25 - Went to a pizza shop today that I have never tried. I am not sure how I never ate here…read moreconsidering that I've driven passed this place a thousand times taking Alex to and from dance class. TJ's Pizza and Catering is located in Parlin, NJ. I went in with the intention of ordering a large plain and a large Sicilian. But there's a sign on the wall that refers to this place as the home of the Tavern Pie. Tavern Pie? What in the world is that? Never saw that anywhere on Staten Island when I was growing up. But if that's your specialty, scratch off the Sicilian and add one Tavern Pie. The good: The plain pie was wonderful. It's the neopolitan style we all grew up eating. When I opened the box, the aroma immediately brought me back to Al's Pizza on Jewett Ave in Staten Island. I knew I was going to like it. And it didn't disappoint. The flavor of the sauce explodes in your mouth on the very first bite. The crust was pretty good too... crunchy and very little limpness. The cheese is very flavorful. And its real cheese with flavor.... not the cheap version. The foot traffic in this place is incredible. It took about 20 minutes to cook the pies and in that time, I easily saw 25 people coming in. The staff is super friendly kick-starting conversations about football with the majority of the people that came in. And to their credit, they knew everyone's names! In my mind, this definitely speaks to them having a loyal customer base. The bad: I was not a big fan of the Tavern Pie. As I am learning, Tavern Pie is a very thin crust pie cooked well. TJ's version isn't terrible, but it's not one that I'd run to buy again. The sauce wasn't as flavorful and all that cooking took the flavor out of the cheese. Not sure why it wasn't as flavorful overall if it's the same ingredients just cooked longer. Maybe this your thing? It's nice to try but its not for me. Overall Rating: C+ My score probably should have been a smidge higher but when I try your specialty and it's just average, you get points taken off.

Today's stop was a place in Sayreville, NJ called Mia's Pizza Restaurant. Mia's is located in a strip mall at the corner of Bordentown Av. and Jernee Mill Road. Normally, when you look at a front window of a restaurant and see two different varieties of food, you should run away. Mia's boasts both Italian and Mexican food. What I've learned thru the years is, if you say you can make great Mexican food and great Italian food, then you can't make great anything. I ordered one plain slice and one sausage slice and hoped for the best. I was actually optimistic because every table in this place was taken. The good: Both the outer crust and undercarriage were spectacular. Crispy, crunchy and stood up perfectly with no limpness whatsoever. The crust is not dry at all. And the slices are big. Thank goodness I ordered a sausage slice as the sausage added a flavor punch that these slices badly needed. The problems: the sauce is pretty bland. It has a slight hint of basil flavor but there was no other Italian seasoning flavors that I could taste or even see. It also wouldn't hurt if they used a bit more sauce. The cheese is premium but like the sauce, they could use a bit more of it. There isn't a menu in sight. They have a menu board above the front counter. There are no prices on it however. If you aren't going to put out paper menus, then you really need to put prices on the menu board so your customers don't get unpleasant surprises. As much as I wanted to like this place, it just doesn't cut it. They do nothing to differentiate themselves from the stiff local competition. Overall Rating: C

The place is cute and spotlessly clean and I read a lot of great reviews online so I was very optimistic going in. I went with a plain slice and a Sicilian slice and my daughter went with two grandma slices. The plain slice was very large. It is a very thin pie that has a delightful outer crust. The outer crust is both crispy and moist. The undercarriage was a little bit limp and you would definitely have to fold the outer crust to eat it. I would be ok with that if it had a nice flavor punch but the sauce was somewhat flavorless and lacking Italian seasonings. Premium cheese is used here but with bland sauce, the damage is done. The Sicilian slice is very thick and you would expect it to be heavy but it is surprisingly very light. The outer crust and undercarriage are both crunchy, moist and delicious. Im not sure they let it ferment enough because it did have Sicilian flavors but not quite enough of it. And the sauce again is way too light on Italian seasonings. I was all ready to write a bad review until my daughter insisted I try a bite of her grandma slice. And it was SPECTACULAR. Tangy sauce with premium cheese and an abundance of Italian seasonings. The crust is crunchy and stood firm with no droop at all. And the slice itself is a flavor explosion. If you want to go and try it yourself, the grandma slice is definitely the way to go. Overall, it's a mixed bag here. The prices are really good here but I'd gladly pay up for a better seasoned slice. Overall Rating: B-
