Husband and I got the lumberjack pancakes order. Food was good and portions were great also. Enough to share with my toddler. Service was great, young woman took our order. She was kind and attentive. Absolutely love that napkins are available on the table. So convenient. It's nice and clean inside. It wasn't loud like all of the other reviews said. Perhaps they've taken heed to the comments. Food was flavorful. I think this new diner will do well. I would take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. Definitely recommend visiting if you're in the area!

My wife and I were excited to visit the newly opened High Point Diner. We've always enjoyed Colonial Diner and Old Bridge Diner locally and we're thrilled to see this new addition. My wife enjoyed an earlier visit solo where she had a delicious tuna melt, so we were excited to test out the Jersey Diner Staple - breakfast! We came in on a Sunday for a late breakfast. The diner is beautiful inside - very clean, open and bright. The diner was about 1/3 full and we did notice it was very loud inside with voices carrying far making it a bit hard to hear each other at your table. Waiters and staff were incredibly nice and attentive. I had a coffee and the Lumber Jack Pancakes with pork roll substituted for the ham and my wife had the Hungry Man French Toast. The coffee was excellent, better than typical diner coffee. Strongly recommend it. We both enjoyed the eggs, sausage, bacon, and pork roll; however, not so much the pancakes or French toast. My pancakes looked amazing but lacked any discernable flavor. I am one of those unusual people that uses little syrup (sugar free) on pancakes, so the pancake flavor matters more to me. These pancakes tasted bland and almost cardboardy with a dry cakey texture. I only ate two bites and wouldn't get them again. My wife's French toast (on challah bread) was very very wet and soggy. She said the flavor was good but we both rated it low due to sogginess and the "mush" factor. Overall, High Point stuck the landing on the core breakfast elements of coffee, eggs and meat, but couldn't reach the high points on diner essentials like pancakes and French toast. May give High Point another try in a couple months to see if this was a one-off poor meal, but it would take a lot of improvement for me to choose High Point over Old Bridge Diner or Colonial.

Pretty Basic food. Not bad per say but nothing special at all. The pancakes were dry, the chicken wrap wasn't put together well: Is there even a real chef back there?? Way too expensive for the quality we got. Very loud atmosphere; we couldn't hear to talk to each other - this isn't a sports bar... The waitress was pretty nonchalant; she didn't even ask if we wanted drinks, forgot condiments and all that and had a kitchen boy bring us the food. But whatever. I wasn't impressed, was overcharged and will not return. Got a chuckle out of the weird ketchup on the tables though.

As u can see , it had gotten real busy, with a waiting list, by the time we left there

Very pleasant managers, who helped seat us , continually make their rounds. The Matzo Ball soup, definitely needs improvement. Tasted like a bouillon cube , with flavorless balls . (We left most of our soups, behind.) We DID tell the manager, so perhaps their soup will be upgraded , in the future . And , he DID ask if we wanted a different soup . (We passed on it , but glad for that option) Meanwhile, the burger was nicely chargrilled, with a good , beefy flavor ! And , very fairly priced , at $16.00 , including fries , & real good cole slaw & pickles. I liked the sweet potato fries , more than their regular ones . The carrot cake , chocolate fudge cake & chocolate cheesecake, all looked real good !!!! I need to try them, in the future!!! Pleasant service from our young waiter . This diner is the former Seville . Reopened about a week ago, with new owners . There was a 40 minute wait to get in , when we left there in the early evening. Holiday week , between Xmas & New Year's. Plus , lots of excitement to try the new place out ! I wish them all the best! Date visited : Sunday , December 28, 2025

    Our first time.

My pancakes are tough, its like when you warm up your pancakes on microwave! My coffee cup is been waiting for refill. But they nailed my scrambled eggs the way I instructed them. I'll come back again to see if they improve. Although my buddy loves his stuff french toast. Good big portions. For now 3star.

We started off with appetizers- which are really great for sharing- perogies for the Hubby and I had the liver dumpling soup- both were fantastic. Hubby had the German mixed salad with his meal, the special was sausage with both chicken and pork Schnitzel and potatoes, I had the sauerbraten with potatoes and we both had a side of the sauerkraut. We took a To-Go of the stuffed chicken breast with mozzarella and spinach and soup, with broccoli and an order of perogies. 2 Root beers, and he had the apple strudel and I ordered the Bienenstich. Our server was Karen- I want to give a huge thank you to her, she was an absolute delight, sweet, friendly and made sure our dinner was perfect, she is wonderful and next time we come for dinner, we hope she is our waitress. Food was incredible, I have not had "family" style German food in probably 13 years if not longer- I used to eat all the time at Alpine Village in Torrance Ca and at Phoenix Club in Brea Ca- both I was a long time foodie at, and never had a bad meal! It is so great to know that Sebastian's is our new place for delicious German food. Dinner for the 3 was roughly $180.00, but before you say "that's a lot", the food is delicious, the wait staff is amazing and both my husband and I gladly pay good money for fantastic food, like what we had here at Sebastian's.

The dining area was bright, clean, and welcoming -- exactly the kind of atmosphere you hope for when sitting down for a good soul food meal. We came in hoping for Whiting, but they were serving Basa instead. The staff assured us that many customers actually prefer it, and after our first bite, we understood why -- it was absolutely delicious! My wife enjoyed the fish dinner while I went with the fish and grits, and both dishes were outstanding. The portions were generous, to say the least. The food was so good that I couldn't leave without ordering extra fish to take home. That says it all! If you're looking for great soul food with a warm atmosphere and hearty portions, Dootsie's Kitchen delivers. We'll definitely be back!

This brings me to Dootsie's Kitchen. My aunt frequents this spot and actually told my mom and I about it last year, but we just never got the chance to check it out. I happened to be in South Brunswick for work and would have to pass by this restaurant getting home if I took the back roads, so I used this as my opportunity to check them out. When I arrived into the restaurant, I was a little confused on how to order at first. However, a guy that I'm assuming is the owner and/or manager came out from the back and asked if I was picking up or placing an order. I told him I would like to place an order but needed a menu. He pointed me to the other side of the counter where the menu is posted. They also have a kiosk ordering system that allows you to place and pay for your order. I ended up ordering two fried whiting platters, one for myself and one for my mom. They make the food fresh after you order, so there was a bit of a wait. I was even asked if I would like my fish fried hard. I said yes, but not too hard. I got my food to go and ate at home. I enjoyed my food. The fish filets were small, but there were at least five pieces in my platter. I requested mac n cheese and cabbage for one platter and collard greens and yams for the other platter. Only problem I had is that I didn't receive cabbage and got collard greens instead. I still enjoyed the greens. My mom thought the greens were too spicy. Personally, I really enjoyed them. The mac n cheese was that real southern mac n cheese. It tasted pretty similar to my mom's mac n cheese. I asked my mom if she liked her food. She said it was "okay" but didn't leave anything behind, so I take that as a good sign. The owner/manager was nice. He kept me updated on the status of my order. When he was bagging up my food, he asked me if it was my first time there and I told him that it was. He asked how I heard about them and I told him. He really seems to care about his business and is very appreciative of those who come to support. The restaurant is not large, but they do have some seating areas if you'd like to dine in. While I was waiting for my food, there was a large group having lunch, approximately 10-12 people. They all seemed to enjoy their food and kept giving compliments as they were heading out. I'm glad I got the chance to check out Dootsie's Kitchen and support a local, black-owned business.
