They do have an ATM on site, but to use it, you need an ATM card or a pin on your CC, which I did not have. My FiL had to meet me half way back with cash so I could pay. But all in all, it went OK. The lot needs better lighting and or a sign that points to the main entrance. We walked the wrong way and ended up at tables and chairs in storage.... I subbed mash for home fries which had sautéed onions and were a great touch, but it needed salt. The sauce helped! I also got a side or spaetzle, which were good but needed sauce and or salt, and did not have much seasoning. But that is German food... I'm not saying its bland, but its sauce heavy! The place was very festively decorated with lots of Christmas lights, a beautiful Christmas tree and lots of beer steins, dolls and other knick-knacks. We visited on Sunday for lunch with a party of two after visiting the nearby cemetery and it was a very nice experience. We arrived and were seated right away at a spacious table. The interior is quite unique, with lots of festive decorations. We started with Perogi and the Gulaschsuppe soup as appetizers, they were well prepared and tasty. We then went with Jaeger Schnitzel, the Grilled Wurst Platter, and a side of Spaetzle. Everything was outstanding with huge portions. Not everyone likes pickled herring but if you do theirs is fablous. Never miss it. I believe they have a sunday buffet once a month. Reservations are needed. If you're feeling like eating some German food, especially schnitzel, well this place is for you. When you walk inside you'll feel like you were transported to Germany and entering one of their quaint, traditional restaurants. We were immediately seated by one of the servers who was not only friendly but dressed in a beautiful German style dress. Well I came with schnitzel in mind and schnitzel is what I got. But before I had that we started off with some Gulaschuppe which is a hearty, rich beef soup, filled with meat and so flavorful and delicious. This could have been a meal in itself. Now we had to try the Potato Pancakes because I love me some potato pancakes, especially authentic German style potato pancakes. They didn't disappoint, although a little thicker than I'm used to but delicious all the same. Well this could have been enough quite frankly but we didn't even get to our main courses. Of course now I got my Schnitzel and it was a huge schnitzel. The pork was pounded thin and fried perfectly and when I couldn't decide what gravy should accompany my schnitzel, our waiter was nice enough to let me have a little of both in separate bowls. Both were good, one was a mushroom gravy while the other was a creamy white gravy. My schnitzel was also accompanied by a serving of warm German potato salad made with vinegar, not only authentic but delicious too. Legit German kitchen with overstuffed gitch dining room that felt like a cross between a Teutonic antique shop and schnitzel emporium with a side of wurst. My Chicken Schnitzel lunch came with fries and management brought over a stainless gravy boat full of Rahm brown sauce (delicious w heavy cream and white wine) for dipping both the flattened breaded fried chicken and the frenchies. The Potato Soup (w carrot, celery and bits of ham) was a strong appetizer, although it may have been slightly over-salted. People around me were regulars who knew what they loved; ordering desserts and soups to go after manging down large lunch platters where they sat. Owners/chefs out and about chatting with customers obviously proud of what they had created; building a little piece of Deutchland here in Burlington County, NJ, right outside Fort Dix. I enjoyed the experience and attention. Plenty to look at on the walls and shelves, even a nice Hummel collection in the hall to the restrooms. Great authentic food! I tried a little bit of everything and it was so good! The schnitzel was cooked perfectly. A lot of times you get it and it's dried out. This was perfect. The piergois were packed full of deliciousness. I had the potato soup too which was really good. I called ahead of time to make a reservation because it fills up fast in there. I'm not sure if they're homemade. They were so uniform. Definitely didn't look like mine but I'm a home cook so never perfection lol. The red cabbage wasn't bad. The spice was a little overpowering. I actually prefer it cold so I took the leftovers home. I need to talk about the pork shank. It was pull off the bone deliciousness. And I was just sneaking bites. We took a lot home. The entrees come with soup or salad. The salad was delicious. It's pickle based. Pickled vegetables over lettuce. The vinegar is not overwhelming. I don't know how to review the decor. AWFUL! Any good review of this place is just another NPC who has no experience outside of the United States. U.S. Airman here, visiting for a TDY. A group of my teammates and I went to Sebastian's after a long day of training to get some food and relax but the joke was on us. Immediately we were met with a passive aggressive owner asking us why we weren't smiling, it wasn't immediately a big deal but after smiling back he became extremely awkward. As we were guided to the table it felt like we were being lectured. It continued as we sat down. Once he stepped away we all looked at each other like what the hell is going on. About 3 minutes later he came back with water, before we could even say thank you he was pestering us again. I don't know if it was a persona or something like that but he just wouldn't stop. After the lecture he informed us they only take cash and that they do not sell beer, but if we wanted to we could cross over and buy some from the liquor store across the street (this didn't really bother me at all), but I do find it very odd. If you are German or have ever been to Germany, you would know this is basically sacrilegious. I lived as a civilian in Germany for 10 years. I have German family. I almost speak fluent German. I've never experienced service like this in Germany. In fact the way this man was acting was just egregious and it disappointed me that my fellow airman experienced it. I had to explain it was not normal at all, which they were all well aware, but still it was somewhat embarrassing for me with my known background being from Germany. The food was over priced, but the Rahm Snitzel was better then most fraudulent German snitzel you'd typically get in America, so I was somewhat pleased with it, the bratkartoffel tasted like store bought frozen American potato's though lol, so overall the food is not a high rating for quality and it was very meh on authenticity. We love German food, so we were happy to discover a nearby place that serves Teutonic cuisine. Arriving for a 5:15pm dinner reservation made the same day, the restaurant was still quite empty when we arrived. We were seated immediately and a few minutes later our server came to take our order. Despite the many different types of schnitzel, we both chose the classic veal Wiener schnitzel along with a "pickled" salad and fries. Luckily our server dropped off a basket of bread with the menus because It took over 30 minutes to get our order! We've had schnitzel in Germany many times and I have to say that what we got certainly looked authentic and it indeed tasted similar to many schnitzels we've had there. But it's not the best--the cut is very thin and really not that flavorful. Other places like Bauhaus Schmitz and Frankford Hall both serve a thicker, juicier and more flavorful schnitzel and it also costs less. At least at Sebastian's, you get two cutlets. The small side salad was excellent; just like you'd expect in an old-school German restaurant. The bread basket was meh at best, with rolls so bland they're really not worth the chewing effort. The sandwich-style rye bread was better but unlike like anything you'd actually get in Germany. The owner/manager is quite outgoing and quite personable and entertaining. There's plenty of room between the tables so you can really stretch out. Unlike many older restaurants, this one looks very bright and clean, unlike, say, the Pub in Camden. We were travelling down the NJ Turnpike and hopped off for lunchnear Exit 7. I had been to Sebastian's Schnitzlhaus over 10 years ago when I was deployed to Ft. Dix, NJ and had good experience with the food. I was in the mood for a schnitzel platter. We were pleasantly suprized to see they had a special German Easter Buffet! They warned us it the buffet was going to end in an hour, but it was still pretty well stocked. And they had a last minute cancellation, so we could be seated in the packed restaurant. Don't forget, the place is CASH ONLY. There was such a large variety of German and Eastern European food. We tried Beef Rouladen, Potato Dumplings, Flounder stuffed with Crab, Polish Bigos, bratwurst and saurkraut, and on and on! We left happy and full. I would recommend the buffet if you are in the area along I95 (NJ Turnpike). This was a holiday event. Normally, they only do buffets once a month. Fantastic German food!!! This place is small and cozy, very cute and heavily decorated with all sorts of German crafts, dolls, lamps, and beer steins. Just went there tonight with the family, and all 4 of us ended up getting pork schnitzel. Mine was with Jaeger gravy - brown gravy with carrots, celery, and mushrooms. The warm potato salad is outstanding, and my 2 sons both raved about their potato soup. Salads are full of fermented veggies atop chopped lettuce - so good! And if that wasn't enough, we had to try both the German chocolate AND the strawberry cheesecakes. Amazing of course! Although, for me, coming here is a not-too-often special kind of thing, it's definitely a huge hit and one of the only authentic German restaurants left in Central NJ. Highly recommended! Took my family to Sebastians last weekend for dinner. There was only three of us, but still made a reservation via phone. When we arrived they were waiting at the door...lol. Only one other table occupied at 4 pm. I've been once before about 20 years ago and it was the same scenario..no one in there! We ordered from the menu, which prices are outrageous by the way, for food that was by NO MEANS good. $30.00+ for a Sauerbraten platter that was so TERRIBLY tough, couldn't chew it...my son got a schnitzel platter as well , also very tough, and over cooked!! Spatzel was very dry. I had the roasted pork, which was okay..better than the other platters. We hardly could eat much, but I didn't complain because my son recommended the place, and he wanted to try the food. We left unsatisfied and we will never go back there again..and won't recommend. Probably just tell people how bad it was. Twice in 20 years, and it was bad both times!! Shame on Sebastians. Can't understand how people can rave about this place, when the food is terrible. How do these restaurants stay open so long? Guess some people just don't know a good German restaurant..cause this isn't one of them!! read more

My husband and I went here with another couple. It was their recommendation. We were not disappointed. I like German food but rarely have the opportunity to enjoy it - I think my last schnitzel was in Munich in the 1990s! The food was delicious. We started with the perogies and Kartoffelpuffer. Wonderful! I surprised myself by having seconds of each. My dinner was the chicken schnitzel with Rahm sauce. It was great. My husband had the pork cordon bleu. He really enjoyed it. We split the Black Forest cake for dessert. The restaurant was crowded but we could still hear each other talk. The owner stopped by several times to speak with us. Enjoyed our experience very much - so much so I forgot to take pictures. Note: reservations are necessary and It's BYOB. read more
