We started off with appetizers- which are really great for sharing- perogies for the Hubby and I had the liver dumpling soup- both were fantastic. Hubby had the German mixed salad with his meal, the special was sausage with both chicken and pork Schnitzel and potatoes, I had the sauerbraten with potatoes and we both had a side of the sauerkraut. We took a To-Go of the stuffed chicken breast with mozzarella and spinach and soup, with broccoli and an order of perogies. 2 Root beers, and he had the apple strudel and I ordered the Bienenstich. Our server was Karen- I want to give a huge thank you to her, she was an absolute delight, sweet, friendly and made sure our dinner was perfect, she is wonderful and next time we come for dinner, we hope she is our waitress. Food was incredible, I have not had "family" style German food in probably 13 years if not longer- I used to eat all the time at Alpine Village in Torrance Ca and at Phoenix Club in Brea Ca- both I was a long time foodie at, and never had a bad meal! It is so great to know that Sebastian's is our new place for delicious German food. There was a decent amount of confusion and dialect disconnect, but I believe they have most of their regular menu available. We also ordered a bunch of different items to taste test and we were extremely happy! Let me get into my issue... At no point until I walked into the restaurant, did they mention cash only, oh and check! They take checks! But they never list if on ther website, or any social media sites. They do not mention it over the phone either... so I walk in expecting to pay with card and wham. CASH ONLY... They do have an ATM on site, but to use it, you need an ATM card or a pin on your CC, which I did not have. My FiL had to meet me half way back with cash so I could pay. I really wish they post it online or somewhere people can see before walking in.... I had half a mind to cancel lol! Well that's my gripe! Ordering food, there was a slight language barrier as well. But all in all, it went OK. The lot needs better lighting and or a sign that points to the main entrance. We walked the wrong way and ended up at tables and chairs in storage.... It is very very very homey inside. Very homey. It feels like Oma's living room. With Hummel and biersteins everywhere, and it mean everywhere! Do not bring young kids here lol! It does look nice though! Must but nightmare to dust... Service is unique, the owner was trying to make small talk, and this is after my cash issue, I was kind of zoned out... also had 2 kids that were surprisingly behaving! I got super lucky with that lol! I was able to pay cash and he threw in a few items for free, he gave me a potato soup and a Rahm sauce. Brought the food home and feasted! I got the triple schnitzel combo with Veal, pork, chicken. All were delicious, I like the brown gravy (which had a nice tang) as well as the Rahm sauce with it. By itself it was good, I think they do it more Italian style with only breadcrumbs and no flour, but it was still good. The Veal was the best, but small! The other 2 were very good! I subbed mash for home fries which had sautéed onions and were a great touch, but it needed salt. The sauce helped! I also got a side or spaetzle, which were good but needed sauce and or salt, and did not have much seasoning. But that is German food... I'm not saying its bland, but its sauce heavy! Perogies were absolutely killer! I want a tray lol! Great filling, super soft, great taste! Wife and FiL had the chicken cordon blue, and they were huge!!! They were delicious, but even better with the Rahm sauce. I need a gallon of it lol! Wife liked the Red cabbage, I enjoyed it as well, great flavor. I personally like it sweeter. FiL had the mash and like it. I also got Linzer Tarts which disappeared very quickly lol! Everyone enjoyed them! Years and years ago when they first opened I remember that they seemed expensive and the mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant so I never went back, even though I grew up and lived less than three miles from them my whole life... Went to Sebastian's for a pre Christmas dinner with a couple of friends. The place was very festively decorated with lots of Christmas lights, a beautiful Christmas tree and lots of beer steins, dolls and other knick-knacks. You will even find this type of decor in the bathroom! Service was quick, accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed pierogis, German house salad and chicken schnitzel with spaetzle. We visited on Sunday for lunch with a party of two after visiting the nearby cemetery and it was a very nice experience. We arrived and were seated right away at a spacious table. The interior is quite unique, with lots of festive decorations. We started with Perogi and the Gulaschsuppe soup as appetizers, they were well prepared and tasty. We then went with Jaeger Schnitzel, the Grilled Wurst Platter, and a side of Spaetzle. Everything was outstanding with huge portions. If you're feeling like eating some German food, especially schnitzel, well this place is for you. When you walk inside you'll feel like you were transported to Germany and entering one of their quaint, traditional restaurants. Beautifully decorated inside with dolls, beer steins, lights and all kinds of pictures and German paraphernalia, so nice. The service is also nice and attentive. We were immediately seated by one of the servers who was not only friendly but dressed in a beautiful German style dress. Well I came with schnitzel in mind and schnitzel is what I got. But before I had that we started off with some Gulaschuppe which is a hearty, rich beef soup, filled with meat and so flavorful and delicious. This could have been a meal in itself. Now we had to try the Potato Pancakes because I love me some potato pancakes, especially authentic German style potato pancakes. They didn't disappoint, although a little thicker than I'm used to but delicious all the same. Well this could have been enough quite frankly but we didn't even get to our main courses. Of course now I got my Schnitzel and it was a huge schnitzel. The pork was pounded thin and fried perfectly and when I couldn't decide what gravy should accompany my schnitzel, our waiter was nice enough to let me have a little of both in separate bowls. Both were good, one was a mushroom gravy while the other was a creamy white gravy. My schnitzel was also accompanied by a serving of warm German potato salad made with vinegar, not only authentic but delicious too. My wife went with the Stuffed Cabbage and served with creamy mashed potatoes. She loved it, big cabbage stuffed with savory beef, it was excellent. Now across from our table was a dessert case filled with delicious looking cakes, pies and pastries and they looked amazing but we just didn't have any more room. Hiker our server was fabulous. Very attentive and all my questions were answered. I've never had schnitzel so I was very curious. The interior was very different. I order the #8 SCHWEINE SCHNITZEL (Breaded Pork) with German Potato Salad. This potato salad was like nothing I've ever had. I actually thought it was mashed potatoes when it arrived. The Gulaschsuppe - (Hungarian Stew) came alone & first ...good thing..it was out of this world...$2 extra but wow well worth it.. nice portion. I had to google it before I ordered...not disappointed) I used most of my bread (also delicious) cleaning out the bowl. They brought more bread too. Butter was great! My Chicken Schnitzel lunch came with fries and management brought over a stainless gravy boat full of Rahm brown sauce (delicious w heavy cream and white wine) for dipping both the flattened breaded fried chicken and the frenchies. The Potato Soup (w carrot, celery and bits of ham) was a strong appetizer, although it may have been slightly over-salted. People around me were regulars who knew what they loved; ordering desserts and soups to go after manging down large lunch platters where they sat. Owners/chefs out and about chatting with customers obviously proud of what they had created; building a little piece of Deutchland here in Burlington County, NJ, right outside Fort Dix. I enjoyed the experience and attention. Plenty to look at on the walls and shelves, even a nice Hummel collection in the hall to the restrooms. I highly recommend reservations.....at least on the weekend. Who knew?? Apparently there is a pork shank special on Fridays and we were able to get one of those. I ordered the Polish platter - stuffed cabbage, spatzel, and pierogis. I chose the red cabbage for the side. I'm Polish and I have never made such tender, juicy cabbage rolls. The tomato creme sauce was out of this world. I could eat a bowl of spatzel or pasta in that sauce. The pierogis were ok. The filling was very smooth. The dough was light. I'm not sure if they're homemade. They were so uniform. Definitely didn't look like mine but I'm a home cook so never perfection lol. The red cabbage wasn't bad. The spice was a little overpowering. I actually prefer it cold so I took the leftovers home. I need to talk about the pork shank. It was pull off the bone deliciousness. And I was just sneaking bites. We took a lot home. The entrees come with soup or salad. The salad was delicious. It's pickle based. Pickled vegetables over lettuce. The vinegar is not overwhelming. I don't know how to review the decor. While standing there a woman and her group entered and pushed a head of my family and others waiting, screaming at I guess the owner who was taking a tables order. She was here! Took my family to Sebastians last weekend for dinner. There was only three of us, but still made a reservation via phone. When we arrived they were waiting at the door...lol. Only one other table occupied at 4 pm. I've been once before about 20 years ago and it was the same scenario..no one in there! We ordered from the menu, which prices are outrageous by the way, for food that was by NO MEANS good. $30.00+ for a Sauerbraten platter that was so TERRIBLY tough, couldn't chew it...my son got a schnitzel platter as well , also very tough, and over cooked!! Spatzel was very dry. I had the roasted pork, which was okay..better than the other platters. We hardly could eat much, but I didn't complain because my son recommended the place, and he wanted to try the food. We left unsatisfied and we will never go back there again..and won't recommend. Probably just tell people how bad it was. Twice in 20 years, and it was bad both times!! Shame on Sebastians. Can't understand how people can rave about this place, when the food is terrible. The variety of food was amazing, homemade potato soup, spaetzle, wurst, rouladen and GERMAN salads galore just for starts! We were there for early seating so breakfast favorites were available including amazing homemade chip beef and potato pancakes w sour cream and apple sauce. What a delightful experience. My mother and I went on a Sunday Night and were able to sit outside with our well traveled Airedale, Judy. Fantastic service from our waiter, Buster. The food - unlike anything else you can get in the glorious county of Burlington, or really anywhere I can think of in the southern half of New Jersey! We tried both the Veal and Chicken Schnitzel, which were delicious. The Hungarian goulash soup was out of this world - like homemade from long ago! Fantastic German food!!! This place is small and cozy, very cute and heavily decorated with all sorts of German crafts, dolls, lamps, and beer steins. Just went there tonight with the family, and all 4 of us ended up getting pork schnitzel. Mine was with Jaeger gravy - brown gravy with carrots, celery, and mushrooms. The warm potato salad is outstanding, and my 2 sons both raved about their potato soup. Salads are full of fermented veggies atop chopped lettuce - so good! And if that wasn't enough, we had to try both the German chocolate AND the strawberry cheesecakes. Amazing of course! Although, for me, coming here is a not-too-often special kind of thing, it's definitely a huge hit and one of the only authentic German restaurants left in Central NJ. Highly recommended! I like German food but rarely have the opportunity to enjoy it - I think my last schnitzel was in Munich in the 1990s! The food was delicious. We started with the perogies and Kartoffelpuffer. Wonderful! I surprised myself by having seconds of each. My dinner was the chicken schnitzel with Rahm sauce. It was great. My husband had the pork cordon bleu. He really enjoyed it. We split the Black Forest cake for dessert. The restaurant was crowded but we could still hear each other talk. The owner stopped by several times to speak with us. We love German food, so we were happy to discover a nearby place that serves Teutonic cuisine. Arriving for a 5:15pm dinner reservation made the same day, the restaurant was still quite empty when we arrived. We were seated immediately and a few minutes later our server came to take our order. Despite the many different types of schnitzel, we both chose the classic veal Wiener schnitzel along with a "pickled" salad and fries. Luckily our server dropped off a basket of bread with the menus because It took over 30 minutes to get our order! We've had schnitzel in Germany many times and I have to say that what we got certainly looked authentic and it indeed tasted similar to many schnitzels we've had there. But it's not the best--the cut is very thin and really not that flavorful. Other places like Bauhaus Schmitz and Frankford Hall both serve a thicker, juicier and more flavorful schnitzel and it also costs less. At least at Sebastian's, you get two cutlets. The small side salad was excellent; just like you'd expect in an old-school German restaurant. The bread basket was meh at best, with rolls so bland they're really not worth the chewing effort. The sandwich-style rye bread was better but unlike like anything you'd actually get in Germany. The owner/manager is quite outgoing and quite personable and entertaining. There's plenty of room between the tables so you can really stretch out. Unlike many older restaurants, this one looks very bright and clean, unlike, say, the Pub in Camden. The dessert case looks amazing, we didn't sample any as there was a tornado warning that night and we wanted to get home before it arrived. read more

You have to be into it. This is an old-school German restaurant. The only thing worth visiting in the depressing town. That said if you're old enough to remember the German restaurants that used to be around, you'll love this place. They have breaded and unbreaded schnitzel, I would go for the unbreaded when I come back. I enjoyed everything I ate. The wurst platter would've been better with more sauerkraut and less spaetlzle. But both were good. Gravy was brought as a recommendation because the wonderful waitress wanted me to enjoy my meal. That's the kind of place this is. Dix, NJ and had good experience with the food. I was in the mood for a schnitzel platter. We were pleasantly suprized to see they had a special German Easter Buffet! They warned us it the buffet was going to end in an hour, but it was still pretty well stocked. And they had a last minute cancellation, so we could be seated in the packed restaurant. Charming ambiance that is loaded with German knickknacks and tchotchkes. Truly divine German food tasted exactly like what I remembered from my years living overseas. Authentic in every way. I loved being able to eat and relax without being overly bothered. Just worked through the delicious bratwursts and a crossword puzzle at my own pace.
