We started off with appetizers- which are really great for sharing- perogies for the Hubby and I had the liver dumpling soup- both were fantastic. Hubby had the German mixed salad with his meal, the special was sausage with both chicken and pork Schnitzel and potatoes, I had the sauerbraten with potatoes and we both had a side of the sauerkraut. We took a To-Go of the stuffed chicken breast with mozzarella and spinach and soup, with broccoli and an order of perogies. 2 Root beers, and he had the apple strudel and I ordered the Bienenstich. Our server was Karen- I want to give a huge thank you to her, she was an absolute delight, sweet, friendly and made sure our dinner was perfect, she is wonderful and next time we come for dinner, we hope she is our waitress. Food was incredible, I have not had "family" style German food in probably 13 years if not longer- I used to eat all the time at Alpine Village in Torrance Ca and at Phoenix Club in Brea Ca- both I was a long time foodie at, and never had a bad meal! It is so great to know that Sebastian's is our new place for delicious German food. The dining room will either evoke memories of Christmas dinner at grandma's house or require sunglasses, maybe both. Some may call it German ambiance, some may call it over stimulation. Either way your taste buds will appreciate your visual endurance. I had the Polish platter dinner special. It stared with a German pickled salad with a delectable and refreshing assortment of pickled items. Next, the perogies were delicate and homemade. I only wish they came with more butter and caramelizes onions. The main course was the largest stuffed cabbage roll I've ever laid eyes on with traditional German Spatzle. The stuffed cabbage and creamy tomato sauce were fantastic from flavor to texture. It was deliciously homemade. Our server was attentive and patient. There was a decent amount of confusion and dialect disconnect, but I believe they have most of their regular menu available. We also ordered a bunch of different items to taste test and we were extremely happy! Let me get into my issue... At no point until I walked into the restaurant, did they mention cash only, oh and check! They take checks! But they never list if on ther website, or any social media sites. They do not mention it over the phone either... so I walk in expecting to pay with card and wham. CASH ONLY... They do have an ATM on site, but to use it, you need an ATM card or a pin on your CC, which I did not have. My FiL had to meet me half way back with cash so I could pay. I really wish they post it online or somewhere people can see before walking in.... I had half a mind to cancel lol! Well that's my gripe! Ordering food, there was a slight language barrier as well. But all in all, it went OK. The lot needs better lighting and or a sign that points to the main entrance. We walked the wrong way and ended up at tables and chairs in storage.... It is very very very homey inside. Very homey. It feels like Oma's living room. With Hummel and biersteins everywhere, and it mean everywhere! Do not bring young kids here lol! It does look nice though! Must but nightmare to dust... Service is unique, the owner was trying to make small talk, and this is after my cash issue, I was kind of zoned out... also had 2 kids that were surprisingly behaving! I got the triple schnitzel combo with Veal, pork, chicken. All were delicious, I like the brown gravy (which had a nice tang) as well as the Rahm sauce with it. By itself it was good, I think they do it more Italian style with only breadcrumbs and no flour, but it was still good. The Veal was the best, but small! The other 2 were very good! I subbed mash for home fries which had sautéed onions and were a great touch, but it needed salt. The sauce helped! I also got a side or spaetzle, which were good but needed sauce and or salt, and did not have much seasoning. But that is German food... I'm not saying its bland, but its sauce heavy! Perogies were absolutely killer! I want a tray lol! Great filling, super soft, great taste! Wife and FiL had the chicken cordon blue, and they were huge!!! They were delicious, but even better with the Rahm sauce. I need a gallon of it lol! Wife liked the Red cabbage, I enjoyed it as well, great flavor. I personally like it sweeter. FiL had the mash and like it. I also got Linzer Tarts which disappeared very quickly lol! Everyone enjoyed them! Went to Sebastian's for a pre Christmas dinner with a couple of friends. The place was very festively decorated with lots of Christmas lights, a beautiful Christmas tree and lots of beer steins, dolls and other knick-knacks. You will even find this type of decor in the bathroom! Service was quick, accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed pierogis, German house salad and chicken schnitzel with spaetzle. The chicken was huge! It was probably enough to feed the three of us. Bring cash because it's cash only - although they do have an ATM but you will pay a fee! We visited on Sunday for lunch with a party of two after visiting the nearby cemetery and it was a very nice experience. We arrived and were seated right away at a spacious table. The interior is quite unique, with lots of festive decorations. We started with Perogi and the Gulaschsuppe soup as appetizers, they were well prepared and tasty. We then went with Jaeger Schnitzel, the Grilled Wurst Platter, and a side of Spaetzle. Everything was outstanding with huge portions. AWFUL! Any good review of this place is just another NPC who has no experience outside of the United States. U.S. Airman here, visiting for a TDY. A group of my teammates and I went to Sebastian's after a long day of training to get some food and relax but the joke was on us. Immediately we were met with a passive aggressive owner asking us why we weren't smiling, it wasn't immediately a big deal but after smiling back he became extremely awkward. As we were guided to the table it felt like we were being lectured. It continued as we sat down. Once he stepped away we all looked at each other like what the hell is going on. About 3 minutes later he came back with water, before we could even say thank you he was pestering us again. I don't know if it was a persona or something like that but he just wouldn't stop. After the lecture he informed us they only take cash and that they do not sell beer, but if we wanted to we could cross over and buy some from the liquor store across the street (this didn't really bother me at all), but I do find it very odd. If you are German or have ever been to Germany, you would know this is basically sacrilegious. I lived as a civilian in Germany for 10 years. I have German family. I almost speak fluent German. I've never experienced service like this in Germany. In fact the way this man was acting was just egregious and it disappointed me that my fellow airman experienced it. I had to explain it was not normal at all, which they were all well aware, but still it was somewhat embarrassing for me with my known background being from Germany. The food was over priced, but the Rahm Snitzel was better then most fraudulent German snitzel you'd typically get in America, so I was somewhat pleased with it, the bratkartoffel tasted like store bought frozen American potato's though lol, so overall the food is not a high rating for quality and it was very meh on authenticity. The owner came by and asked my co worker why he didn't finish his soup and when he responded politely "I'm okay" he started to pester all of us basically threatening us to eat our soups lol, he then referenced starving children in Gaza which was extremely distasteful. The venue itself was cute with tons of German esk items all over, but not realistic to what German restaurants actually look like. It was kinda like if you went into your German grandmas house who has lived in America for like 40 years. Kinda freaky but whatever. After it was time to leave the manager took our payment, he pestered one of my fellow airman cause he couldn't pronounce his dinner correctly verbally which was kinda just a low ball, I informed him that I lived and spoke german and he told me he was from Saint Petersburg which I know is in Russia. Then he responded to my co worker by saying how are you going to kill North Koreans if you can't even remember what you ordered, which severely pissed us all off. Buddy needs to be checked out mentally. So to me it was all kind of wack. If you are German please do not go here it will disappoint you. If you are American please avoid this place. Great authentic food! I tried a little bit of everything and it was so good! The schnitzel was cooked perfectly. A lot of times you get it and it's dried out. This was perfect. The piergois were packed full of deliciousness. I had the potato soup too which was really good. I called ahead of time to make a reservation because it fills up fast in there. If you're feeling like eating some German food, especially schnitzel, well this place is for you. When you walk inside you'll feel like you were transported to Germany and entering one of their quaint, traditional restaurants. But before I had that we started off with some Gulaschuppe which is a hearty, rich beef soup, filled with meat and so flavorful and delicious. This could have been a meal in itself. Now we had to try the Potato Pancakes because I love me some potato pancakes, especially authentic German style potato pancakes. They didn't disappoint, although a little thicker than I'm used to but delicious all the same. Well this could have been enough quite frankly but we didn't even get to our main courses. Of course now I got my Schnitzel and it was a huge schnitzel. The pork was pounded thin and fried perfectly and when I couldn't decide what gravy should accompany my schnitzel, our waiter was nice enough to let me have a little of both in separate bowls. Both were good, one was a mushroom gravy while the other was a creamy white gravy. My schnitzel was also accompanied by a serving of warm German potato salad made with vinegar, not only authentic but delicious too. I order the #8 SCHWEINE SCHNITZEL (Breaded Pork) with German Potato Salad. This potato salad was like nothing I've ever had. I actually thought it was mashed potatoes when it arrived. The Gulaschsuppe - (Hungarian Stew) came alone & first ...good thing..it was out of this world...$2 extra but wow well worth it.. nice portion. I had to google it before I ordered...not disappointed) I used most of my bread (also delicious) cleaning out the bowl. They brought more bread too. Butter was great! Legit German kitchen with overstuffed gitch dining room that felt like a cross between a Teutonic antique shop and schnitzel emporium with a side of wurst. My Chicken Schnitzel lunch came with fries and management brought over a stainless gravy boat full of Rahm brown sauce (delicious w heavy cream and white wine) for dipping both the flattened breaded fried chicken and the frenchies. The Potato Soup (w carrot, celery and bits of ham) was a strong appetizer, although it may have been slightly over-salted. People around me were regulars who knew what they loved; ordering desserts and soups to go after manging down large lunch platters where they sat. Owners/chefs out and about chatting with customers obviously proud of what they had created; building a little piece of Deutchland here in Burlington County, NJ, right outside Fort Dix. I enjoyed the experience and attention. Plenty to look at on the walls and shelves, even a nice Hummel collection in the hall to the restrooms. I decided to try it after reading the good reviews. I was honestly shocked when we walked in and they asked if we had a reservation. They sat us after some discussion. I highly recommend reservations.....at least on the weekend. Who knew?? Apparently there is a pork shank special on Fridays and we were able to get one of those. I ordered the Polish platter - stuffed cabbage, spatzel, and pierogis. I chose the red cabbage for the side. I'm Polish and I have never made such tender, juicy cabbage rolls. The tomato creme sauce was out of this world. I could eat a bowl of spatzel or pasta in that sauce. The pierogis were ok. The filling was very smooth. The dough was light. I'm not sure if they're homemade. They were so uniform. Definitely didn't look like mine but I'm a home cook so never perfection lol. The red cabbage wasn't bad. The spice was a little overpowering. I actually prefer it cold so I took the leftovers home. I need to talk about the pork shank. It was pull off the bone deliciousness. And I was just sneaking bites. We took a lot home. The entrees come with soup or salad. The salad was delicious. It's pickle based. Pickled vegetables over lettuce. The vinegar is not overwhelming. I don't know how to review the decor. It was nice on the inside. Very in - character. Love all the decorations. The tables have a collage of pictures with add to the beauty. The waiters and waitresses were nice and so was the owner. service was absolutely terrible by the owner, he micromanaged the whole restaurant, the rest of the crew was very nice, but owner was racist towards me, i'm asian and he did a mini bow at me and snickered at me. i'm not familiar with german food at all, i was googling a couple dishes, he made rude comments like, "sure, go ahead and use google, it's not like i'm here for u to ask questions", so i put down my phone, and asked him about rahm schnitzel, what protein it consists of, he said "oh no no no, use ur google, ur technology, u didn't wanna talk to me", then walked away and came back two seconds later, said "protein??" while flexing his biceps, he said "what do you mean protein???" and never answered my question, just explained what the gravy was like for that dish, then he constantly was breathing down our necks, he kept aggressively grabbing my shoulder whilst talking to our table, as well as forcing us to say thank you, saying things like "i walked back there to grab this for you, where's my thank you?!" as well as "don't call me sir, call me handsome", and "you can get chicken noodle soup anywhere else in the world, wawa and etc, but try these other two soups, you can't always order what u know, u have to try new things", like alright, i came here to enjoy a meal, despite many friends told us not to, didn't come here to get lectured on, choking back my tears and rethink about my life choices and being afraid of what i say or do in a restaurant, me and my friend finally just decided to box up our food and left, this is the first restaurant that i would never ever go back to, and would advise others not to visit as well read more

What a delightful experience. My mother and I went on a Sunday Night and were able to sit outside with our well traveled Airedale, Judy. Fantastic service from our waiter, Buster. The food - unlike anything else you can get in the glorious county of Burlington, or really anywhere I can think of in the southern half of New Jersey! We tried both the Veal and Chicken Schnitzel, which were delicious. The Hungarian goulash soup was out of this world - like homemade from long ago! Took my family to Sebastians last weekend for dinner. There was only three of us, but still made a reservation via phone. When we arrived they were waiting at the door...lol. Only one other table occupied at 4 pm. I've been once before about 20 years ago and it was the same scenario..no one in there! We ordered from the menu, which prices are outrageous by the way, for food that was by NO MEANS good. $30.00+ for a Sauerbraten platter that was so TERRIBLY tough, couldn't chew it...my son got a schnitzel platter as well , also very tough, and over cooked!! Spatzel was very dry. I had the roasted pork, which was okay..better than the other platters. We hardly could eat much, but I didn't complain because my son recommended the place, and he wanted to try the food. We left unsatisfied and we will never go back there again..and won't recommend. Probably just tell people how bad it was. Twice in 20 years, and it was bad both times!! Shame on Sebastians. Can't understand how people can rave about this place, when the food is terrible. We love German food, so we were happy to discover a nearby place that serves Teutonic cuisine. Arriving for a 5:15pm dinner reservation made the same day, the restaurant was still quite empty when we arrived. We were seated immediately and a few minutes later our server came to take our order. Despite the many different types of schnitzel, we both chose the classic veal Wiener schnitzel along with a "pickled" salad and fries. Luckily our server dropped off a basket of bread with the menus because It took over 30 minutes to get our order! We've had schnitzel in Germany many times and I have to say that what we got certainly looked authentic and it indeed tasted similar to many schnitzels we've had there. But it's not the best--the cut is very thin and really not that flavorful. Other places like Bauhaus Schmitz and Frankford Hall both serve a thicker, juicier and more flavorful schnitzel and it also costs less. At least at Sebastian's, you get two cutlets. The small side salad was excellent; just like you'd expect in an old-school German restaurant. The bread basket was meh at best, with rolls so bland they're really not worth the chewing effort. The sandwich-style rye bread was better but unlike like anything you'd actually get in Germany. The owner/manager is quite outgoing and quite personable and entertaining. There's plenty of room between the tables so you can really stretch out. Unlike many older restaurants, this one looks very bright and clean, unlike, say, the Pub in Camden. Fantastic German food!!! This place is small and cozy, very cute and heavily decorated with all sorts of German crafts, dolls, lamps, and beer steins. Just went there tonight with the family, and all 4 of us ended up getting pork schnitzel. Mine was with Jaeger gravy - brown gravy with carrots, celery, and mushrooms. The warm potato salad is outstanding, and my 2 sons both raved about their potato soup. Salads are full of fermented veggies atop chopped lettuce - so good! And if that wasn't enough, we had to try both the German chocolate AND the strawberry cheesecakes. Amazing of course! Although, for me, coming here is a not-too-often special kind of thing, it's definitely a huge hit and one of the only authentic German restaurants left in Central NJ. Highly recommended! We were travelling down the NJ Turnpike and hopped off for lunchnear Exit 7. I had been to Sebastian's Schnitzlhaus over 10 years ago when I was deployed to Ft. Dix, NJ and had good experience with the food. I was in the mood for a schnitzel platter. We were pleasantly suprized to see they had a special German Easter Buffet! They warned us it the buffet was going to end in an hour, but it was still pretty well stocked. And they had a last minute cancellation, so we could be seated in the packed restaurant. Don't forget, the place is CASH ONLY. There was such a large variety of German and Eastern European food. We tried Beef Rouladen, Potato Dumplings, Flounder stuffed with Crab, Polish Bigos, bratwurst and saurkraut, and on and on! We left happy and full. I would recommend the buffet if you are in the area along I95 (NJ Turnpike). This was a holiday event. Normally, they only do buffets once a month. My husband and I went here with another couple. It was their recommendation. We were not disappointed. I like German food but rarely have the opportunity to enjoy it - I think my last schnitzel was in Munich in the 1990s! The food was delicious. We started with the perogies and Kartoffelpuffer. Wonderful! I surprised myself by having seconds of each. My dinner was the chicken schnitzel with Rahm sauce. It was great. My husband had the pork cordon bleu. He really enjoyed it. We split the Black Forest cake for dessert. The restaurant was crowded but we could still hear each other talk. The owner stopped by several times to speak with us. You have to be into it. This is an old-school German restaurant. The only thing worth visiting in the depressing town. That said if you're old enough to remember the German restaurants that used to be around, you'll love this place. They have breaded and unbreaded schnitzel, I would go for the unbreaded when I come back. I enjoyed everything I ate. The wurst platter would've been better with more sauerkraut and less spaetlzle. But both were good. Gravy was brought as a recommendation because the wonderful waitress wanted me to enjoy my meal. That's the kind of place this is. When the owner retires, this will be gone, and there will be nothing like it to replace it. Go have some good German food. read more
