    4 small pickles

I can't stand Harold's. I placed an order to go because the restaurant was really busy so we opted to eat in the car. The food took a considerable amount of time and while we waited my pregnant friend wanted pickles. If you know Harold you know they have a pickle bar, while we waited I grabbed her 2 small slices of pickles. The manager asked if we were dining in, I said we are waiting for our out going order. He made the biggest deal, raising his voice scolding me another waitress came Over and was adamant it's only dining in stating they charge for it. I said I'm happy to pay... she wouldn't share the price instead they were more interested in trying to embarrass us. The waitress said you will Get pickles with your order you couldn't wait? Really for 2 small slices the size of quarters. Our order comes So I now have my ex-large sandwich and we are looking for pickles the food cost just short of $100.00 dollars and all we received with the order was 4 pickles. lol Never again. The worst attitudes. Never again.

I went to this infamous deli and it wasn't bad. Though the prices were high the portions were extremely generous. Decided to go with the brisket sandwich and it definitely could've been more flavorful but it was indeed filling. Would I go again, if I'm not paying. Would I get the brisket sandwich, definitely not. Overall rating solid 6. The onion rings were huge and well cooked, plus they had a pickle bar.

Big big big! Harold's is stylized as an old Jewish New York deli. It has an authenticity to it as the owners have come from some of the well known delis of New York City. It's a large space well off the beaten path in Edison, but well worth checking out. Harold's is an institution, but coming with a group is practically required. Harold's specializes in very large portions. They're known for their giant meals and their pickle bar. The pickle bar was lovely as there are a wide selection of breads and pickles to choose from. We came in a group of 4, and we needed it. The four of us split a single Matzoh Ball Soup and even then we couldn't finish it and had to get a two takeout containers to split between us. The soup itself was wonderful and came with two extra cups of broth. Though the main feature was obviously the giant Matzoh Ball that could be the size of a small child's head. Our main course was the Pastrami sandwich. It towered over us, though we were able to finish it, with a good amount of effort. It comes with several slices of your choice of bread so that you can pick apart the behemoth into several smaller sized sandwiches. It was one of the best sandwiches I've had and definitely rivaled and even bested many of the other famous delis I've gone to. The meat was absolutely tender and dripping with juices. Perfect. We wanted dessert so badly. When you first walk in you are greeted by their mammoth sized cakes, but unfortunately, we'll have to save those for another time, and I bought a black and white cookie to go. All and all, a great experience that I would like to revisit someday in the near future. While Edison is filled with new hip attractions now, definitely take a moment to step back in time and enjoy a classic delicatessen experience.

I finally had the chance to try out the famous Harold's Deli, and it didn't disappoint. Without a doubt, it was the best pastrami sandwich I've had in NJ. I also ordered chili and an egg cream. The chili was very satisfying and had large chunks of real cheddar cheese on top. The egg cream was not what I was expecting, being that it was my first time ordering one, but I enjoyed it. It reminded me of a watered-down milkshake, which was easier to drink. The pickle bar was a huge plus. I've been to many delis in NJ and NYC, and this one is in the top 5 for me. I plan to go back and try their brisket.

This place gets a lot of business so it must be good. However for me, being from the Midwest this wasn't it. The chili dint have a taste and there was too much bread to meet ratio, the service was good tho as we were in and out in 20-25 minutes. Wasn't my thing but for others looking for a good sandwich in NY then check this location out.

Came here after a convention at the expo center a few minutes away. We were seated quickly. Host and our waitress were very friendly. After taking our order, we went to the pickle bar. The slaw is my favorite. It's like a vinaigrette slaw and it's so tasty. We ordered the chicken soup and the chili. They both were delicious. We also ordered a hot dog to share and each got the junior size hot pastrami sandwiches. The hot dog was extremely delicious. Yes it was just a hot dog but it was flavorful and so delightful to eat with the crispy but soft inside bun. The pastrami was delicious as always. Still one of the best i have eaten in my life. Definitely going to return and will always be my go to spot when I'm in Edison New Jersey.

The service is starting out very nice. Our server has been very patient with us explaining the menus and the portions. The atmosphere is NYC deli style.

This was a great idea for lunch after being at the expo center across the street. There is a huge parking lot specifically for Harold's. Come hungry and with a group as everything here intends to feed 2-3 people. Seated almost instantly as there was ample space in the dining area. Our server Anwar was patient and efficient for our entire meal. Started with a matzoh ball soup as this cold dreary weather is perfect for it. The matzoh ball is huge! The size of a dodgeball at least! The matzoh ball itself was delicious and cooked perfectly through. The carrots and celery were delicious as well however the broth definitely could have had some more seasonings but a little salt and pepper fixed that right up. The Large Reuben (Corned Beef and Pastrami) sandwich came out and it was stacked high. The two men in my group were able to almost easily finish the whole thing off minus two sandwich halves they took home. The meat was delicious and tender for both. The coleslaw was on the creamier side and still good. They also have a pickle bar filled with assorted pickles, chips, hot peppers, and bread. Definitely check it out while you wait for your food! We were sadly too full to make it to dessert so if we are ever in the area again I definitely want to try to save some room. Fun fact they go through about 10000lbs of brisket meat a week here!

A pastrami and brisket institution. I pity anyone who doesn't come to Harold's very hungry or at least with a table of 4. Either way, plan to bring quite a bit home. This old school spot is nothing if not authentic. Get the pastrami and the brisket and make sure you got to the pickle bar! Our table of 5 left the ordering to my parents who have been coming here for years: -1 pastrami -1 brisket -and an order of onion rings. I believe they got the Large for each (which is supposed to feed 2-3 people). When I tell you we had food left over, there were 3 seperate doggie bags filled. Each came with bread, coleslaw and mustard and both were delicious. The pastrami was spiced perfectly and made the most incredible sandwich and the brisket was warm comfort food with served with a sauce on the side that I didn't get to try (I'm a mustard gal). We ended the night with two desserts: cheesecake and the gigantic vanilla cake with chocolate icing. Slices were both hysterically big but I would only go with the cheesecake next time. Enjoy!

Real authentic pastrami sandwich. We got the brisket and pastrami large. We weren't sure if price would warrant the visit for a sandwich but it turned out perfect. The whole family loved it. The vibe was cool, great for a lunch. Server was helpful and overall we had a great experience. Definitely recommend. Will be going back.

Love everything about this spot. Old school deli that serves delicious sandwiches. The pastrami is huge, packed with incredible flavor, tender, juicy and delicious. Fries were typical, nothing special, but good. I love the pickle bar that is self serve and all you can eat. Overall, this spot is comfortable, great service, and food that is mouthwatering.

This place has been on my bucket list for a while due to its giant sandwiches so my great aunt took us there as we were hanging out with friends not far away. My wife and I got a regular sized pastrami and roast beef sandwich and my great aunt got a junior sized sandwich and we had about have of it left with leftovers along with their generous offerings at the pickle bar. My wife and I also shared a large New York Egg Cream. We love the name since my grandfather and great aunt's brother in law's name was Harold and she and her husband (his brother) went to a location further north that is now closed on an early date. The location is quite convenient by car near the turnpike and it is in the lower level of a vacant hotel which hopefully gets developed into senior housing or another hotel with this iconic deli staying in business here. The service was very friendly and prompt and it was mostly full but some tables empty on a Saturday night during Memorial Day weekend.

Reconfirmed with my daughter that ordered "The Lucky Seven Sub." which she confirmed I did say it. Anyhow, the quality of the sub my chicken cheesesteak was nothing like Philadelphia chicken cheesesteak. Taste was bland had to add salt and pepper to give it flavoring. As for my daughters sub (Lucky Seven) it comes with grilled chicken. I've never seen grilled chicken so difficult when she bit into it. It was like fake grilled chicken not the real chicken it was like school cafeteria cheap chicken. A piece of frozen chicken defrosted in the microwave. Was hoping it would be chicken when you bite into it just melts in your mouth. Not the case for this place. Dining area was very clean bathroom needed cleaning. I went there and it looked nasty. For the price I paid for lunch and this is lunch no specials you are being charged extra if using your credit card, If you do not use cash on top of that I tipped. Honestly, It was not worth the money that was paid for the quality. But hands-down to the dessert which was cannoli that was the best thing throughout anything else.
