    #5 Italian

Want a sub? Make your way over to Big Wally's! Mom and pop shop with a variety of subs that are sure to please meat lovers and vegetarians alike. We usually order ahead, particularly on weekends when we know it will be busy, and go to pick it up in store. We recommend the #5 Italian half sub with the works (oil, vinegar, lettuce, tomato, onion) or the Massimo (veggie) sub! Note, cash only so make sure you come prepared!

Stopped by this place on the way down the Jersey shore. This sub shop offers a wide variety of sandwiches at a very good price point. The staff is friendly and service is quick. This place is cash only and there is no dining area. I highly recommend the lumberjack with pepper relish. So good!

Awesome little sub shop! First time going here but it definitely seems like it's a staple in town! Small spot with a lot to choose from. There's no seating inside and it's cash only but the amount of special sandwich options they have are endless. You get a lot of food for a really good price too, I got a half of a linsanity which is a grilled chicken sub with bacon and a drink for $10. So much flavor in the chicken and great size sub. The lettuce, tomato & onion on it also seemed very fresh. Quick service too, I walked in and placed my order that was for a grilled chicken (not a deli meat sub you can pump out quick) and it was ready in a few minutes. They also have homemade noodle salad, potato salad and coleslaw as well as homemade desserts like brownies and banana bread. Super friendly employees, definitely would recommend stopping in for a sub or grabbing a bunch of food for a party or day at the beach.

Pastrami & I believe Sanchez turkey? Delicious with all the fixings. I know how to order a great sandwich

Easily the best sandwich shop in town. If you visit make sure to try either The King or The Buffalo Shemanheimer. Both are seriously delicious. Edit: I'm back, & this is also the best RUBEN in town. Like how they make theirs is ridiculously good. I always order mine with pickle & provolone & it's just ...

I've lived in the area for many years and I've never heard of Big Wally's until I saw it featured as the #1 sandwich place in the country in an online article - I don't remember which one it was, but I knew I had to come check it out. My first experience lived up to the hype! Two things that stand out are the extremely extensive menu with every combination imaginable, and the fact that it's cash only. Bring cash, there is no ATM. The number of options on the menu is amazing, but it left me with choice paralysis! I wanted to try one of everything but eventually settled on the Birdman. Chicken cheesesteak, pork roll, pepperjack cheese, peppers, onions, and honey mustard. It was so, so good, lots of great flavors! Plenty of honey mustard but not too much so it didn't get soggy. It was busy on a Friday lunch hour but my food came out in ten minutes. The staff was friendly and had a certain old school Jersey charm. The price as very reasonable, too, 9 bucks even. I'll definitely be coming back to try more.

Big Wally's was an interesting experience. There are so many subs to choose from! My husband got the Buffalo Sheneineheimer and I got the Appetizer. We saw the great reviews so wanted to visit. The reason for the 3 stars is as follows: the bread is the type of cheap bread you get from an Italian take out place. When you use bad bread for sandwiches, it ruins the whole taste. In my sub, it was grilled chicken, prosciutto, Asiago cheese, and roasted peppers on garlic bread. After the great reviews, I was very excited for this sandwich. However, I was disappointed. The grilled chicken and prosciutto were chopped up and mixed together in the sandwich. I was expecting nice chicken cutlets and slices of prosciutto. Very disappointed. Also, you could barely taste the garlic bread. As for my husband's sub, he enjoyed it. But it did taste like cheap chicken meat in a saucy blue cheese. Probably skip this place next time.

This is a very old school sub shop. Seems like it's been around a long time. The sub was very good.

A great sub shop with a lot of varieties of combinations. This is a good example of what good New Jersey sub shop looks like.

We called around 8:40 PM, and they told us the kitchen would take its last order at 9 PM. Luckily, we made it just in time (around 9:02 PM), and they were kind enough to accommodate us. The ambiance was beautiful, with elegant golden décor hanging from the ceiling that gave the place a warm and inviting feel. We quickly ordered the Drunken Noodles and Basil Fried Rice, and to our surprise, the food arrived in just five minutes! The Drunken Noodles were easily the highlight of the meal, full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The Basil Fried Rice, however, was a bit disappointing as the rice was hard and chewy. Since it was closing time and we were starving, I didn't feel like complaining. Overall, I'd still say it's a solid choice for Thai food lovers in Central Jersey. The menu offers plenty of authentic Thai favorites, and based on our experience, I'd definitely come back to try more dishes.

On that occasion, we ordered Chicken Satay, Chicken Pad Kee Mao, and Chicken Pad Thai. We visited them again over the weekend and had the Moo Ping as an appetizer and we both had Chicken Pad Thai. There is additional parking nearby though, so don't sweat it. Our server was very attentive and pricing was fair for the portions. We both had leftovers for the next day. The chicken pad Thai (that we've had on two occasions so far) is authentic, and they accurately deliver whichever spice level you order. I can't stand when I ask for SPICY, but the place goes easy on me and gives me a mild or medium dish. Truly Thai doesn't do that - they actually give you the level that you order. The service is fast and the ladies are always friendly. The atmosphere is super casual (very basic decor, nothing trendy), but their high quality meals are enough to keep us coming back.
