French Onion Soup at the Reo Diner. Place is AWESOME

This place is so good! We are visiting from AZ. We grew up in NJ. We have to come here every time we return. This is our second time this visit!!! Don't pass this place up. SO GOOD!

Pancakes with whipped cream and a candle! Serenaded by the wait staff!

We went for breakfast for my son's 17th bday after his driving test. Waitresses went above and beyond! We both had pancakes with side of eggs and reg bacon for him and turkey bacon for me. All very good! Served quick, hot & fresh. Highly recommend! Very generous portions and very large menu options.

It's a one and done for me. The customer service here is lackinggggg. From the half greeter at the door to the waitress, so disappointing. Why am I as a customer giving what you should be giving. It's free to smile people:( The actual establishment appears clean, diner vibes, booths, comfortable for all and the bathrooms are clean. On to the food; the buffalo wings were 6/10, they don't come covered in sauce but that's ok, everyone makes wings differently. My husband enjoyed his chicken parm aside from the watery sauce, he said it was good. My youngest enjoyed her chicken fingers and fries, she rated it a 9/10. I sent my steak and eggs back because it wasn't good, wasn't med well and just wasn't. Server didn't seem pleased but she removed it off of our bill. The location of this establishment is A1, just wished the food and service matched.

The big breakfast is always awesome.

Stopped in several times to this diner where my parents would eat when they moved to Jersey when they married. Food is still great. Nice to reminisce about the good times while filling your belly.

The ambiance and food is always good here but our server, Skate, made this visit so much worth it! I love being treated special when I go out to dinner.

Came here for a casual breakfast/lunch and it was pretty solid overall. I got the Hungry Man Option B -- the pancakes were fluffy and tasty, and the butter was nicely whipped which added a nice touch. The turkey bacon was cooked well, though I personally wish it had been crispier. The sausage didn't do much for me, but I'm not the biggest sausage fan so take that with a grain of salt. Scrambled eggs were pretty standard. Others at the table had burgers -- one got the cheeseburger which was just okay, nothing too special. Another had the Fiesta Burger and said it was a solid, classic burger. Service was fine and seating was decent. Tea and coffee were average, pretty much what you'd expect from any diner. One thing to note -- no avocado on the menu, which was a little disappointing for those who like it with breakfast. The bathroom was surprisingly nice and clean, but heads up: there's a small bump right as you walk in that blends in with the floor -- easy to trip over if you're not paying attention. Not a bad spot overall. It's the kind of place you'd stop by for a quick, no-fuss breakfast.

    a SUPER scary halloween decoration

Had the pleasure of stopping here for some coffee, which was pretty much what you'd expect. Good! I ended up getting the Italiano Panini and my girlfriend a Mexican Breakfast Wrap. These too were pretty alright along with the great service. NOW, I'm not a wuss or anything but I guess since the halloween season is coming around they decorated the restaurant accordingly. This was honestly very scary for me as I was eating to look up and see a floating demon that was PROBABLY haunting my food. Im getting goosebumps just THINKING about it. If you come here, DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT sit by the spirit. i feel it taking over my body already....ha...

An old fashioned Jersey diner. Very large, lots of tables and the classic dinner feel. Came for dinner and the next day for breakfast. Breakfast was definitely better. I enjoyed a really nicely prepared ham and cheese omlette and crispy home fries. All in all it was a good experience and I'd happily eat there again.

Chicken Marsala over linguini at the Reo Diner

This diner is my go-to best place to eat once-a-week for dinner. Relatively new to Jersey. Live in Woodbridge Township. This place is easy to drive to and has ample parking lot spaces. I and my companion enjoy eating at the Reo mostly for "our" favorite waitress, Merry who works evening shifts on Thursday & Friday and morning/early afternoon shifts on Saturday & Sunday. She is extremely attentive, always has our preferred soda fountain drink ready for us and has a lovely disposition. A real people-person. You should ask for her. She's great. If you are not satisfied with how your food is cooked, just let her know and she'll have it redone to your specifications. I don't really understand, when people do reviews, why they complain about under- or over-cooked food, they don't say something to their waiter. We've had other female wait staff who have also been very nice and good at their jobs. One of my favorite entrees is the Chicken Marsala over linguini. The sauce is tasty, the marinated chicken pieces and large mushrooms plentiful, and the pasta perfectly cooked. Really, with either a salad or soup and rolls, it's very filling and well worth the cost ($17.95). Also delicious is the Chicken Francaise, in which you get 3 large pieces of sauteed chicken, and the Sliced London Broil. Have the latter with sweet potato fries. Yummy. These dishes always come out hot. The overall ambiance of the diner is pleasant. We are usually greeted at the door by Adele (the older woman) who also handles the cash register and who wishes us a pleasant good evening when we leave. Lately, perhaps due to the very cold weather, the diner hasn't been too crowded or busy which is a shame. Won't stop me and my friend from going, however. I can't comment on the breakfast or lunch items yet. If and when I do eat at the Reo earlier in the day, I'll post another review.

Finally stopped into this neighborhood staple after driving by it for years, and we were not disappointed. Food: let me start by saying, I'm basing my review off of diner food. Yes, you will get better pancakes for double the price a "brunch spot" but everything here hit the spot and was delicious diner food. The pancakes were fluffy with a slight crisp, turkey triple decker was great with moist turkey breast, eggs cooked perfectly, perfextly crisp bacon and delicious onion rings. All for a great price. Service: our server was great. She checked on us multiple times and our food came out quickly. Ambiance: this spot gives you classic diner vibes with a bit of a modern feel. It doesn't have that sticky carpet that many diners do, and that was nice to see. Overall, great spot for a quick bite or a classic club sandwich. 100% will be back!

The prices are exorbitantly high, and the quality of the food is very quite poor. To be frank, it was unpleasant. The fries were undercooked and soggy. I opted for a turkey bacon and egg sandwich, as it was the least expensive option available. I had suggested to my family that we leave, but they were reluctant to appear impolite. I was eager to depart. The sandwich featured a well-cooked egg, undercooked bacon, and was served on an overly sweet roll, which resembled a hamburger bun (small). It was priced at $8.00, yet it came with no additional sides. My spouse ordered a Reuben sandwich, which also came with fries that were soggy and undercooked, priced at $18.99. My son chose a medium-well burger, but it arrived more on the rare side, and the fries were equally soggy, uncooked and unappetizing. The total for our meals, NOT excluding the tip, amounted to $56.23. My son barely touched his burger or the fries, while my husband consumed half of his Reuben but left the fries untouched. When everything is a five, it gets harder to separate the truly elite places, the hometown heroes, and the restaurants worth planning a trip around. Harold's lands for me as a very solid three-point-something, graciously rounded to four because they have a Marine Corps flag hung in reception. The food was good, the portions were whatever you make it, and the whole place has novelty value without feeling like a total gimmick. The sandwiches are large enough to satisfy a hungry, medium-sized guy without completely defeating him. And honestly, on a menu full of meat, my favorite thing may have been the healthy pickled salad/pickle bar situation -- bright, crunchy, and a great counterbalance to the heavier deli classics. My biggest knock was the service atmosphere. There seemed to be an army of staff, but not much interaction beyond their phones. Maybe I caught it at an off time, and maybe the place comes alive when it's packed, but that kept the experience from feeling warmer or more special. Classic neighborhood pub energy. The kind of place where the TVs are always on, the locals actually know each other, and the pizza isn't trying to reinvent itself with truffle oil or an identity crisis. Just solid, honest pizza doing its job. The slice: thin but not sad, crispy where it counts, foldable without flopping like a bad screenplay. The sauce has that slightly sweet, slightly tangy balance, and the cheese? Just enough to stretch, not enough to slide off and burn your chin. Respect.
