Stopped in for a quick lunch while working in the area. I won't lie friends. I judged a book by its cover. My expectations were low and I didn't have high hopes. I got a Big Texas chicken sandwich. You eat with your eyes and the first thing I noticed was the big healthy portion. Then the smell hit as the sandwich was placed in front of me. I started to regret the whole judging the book by its cover thing. Then I bit into it and the inner smile appeared! Chicken breast is my least favorite part of the bird as it so easy to overcook and dry out. This was freshly made and expertly cooked. Juicy with a nice light char from the plancha and well seasoned. It had bacon, Monterrey jack cheese, onion ring, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and bbq sauce. They cook used restraint with the bbq sauce which was a pro move. It didn't overpower the other flavors. Chanced upon this place by mistake when looking for a place to eat in an unfamiliar part of town. Absolutely loved the food and hospitality. If you are looking for large portions of authentic Mexican food then this is a hidden gem. The server took a personal interest in helping us order the right mix of food to satiate the varying dietary requirements and taste preferences. For a "Deli" they can compete with the best food restaurants in town and definitely one of my favorite spots. It seems like a hole in the wall kind of place for an outsider, but locally are very well known. Although WE OPENED the food up and it was sitting on our desk they took it back since it was incorrect... During COVID are you really that unethical and cheap that you take food back to deliver to someone else!!!! The delivery driver came back again missing 2 order-- its wasn't her fault it was the owners son who screwed up bagging orders. After 1.5 hours we called and Rosa's wouldn't make things right and REFUSED to bring us the additional orders but would refund the 2 orders that we didn't receive. I LOVE ROSA'S DELI! I've been eating here for the past 6 years in high school and even now, when I'm in college. Every time I come here to eat, I'm NEVER disappointed. My favorite thing to eat here are their American steak TACOS with everything on it! It's become a tradition for my honey and I to come here. Also have had their chicken sandwiches, burgers, and wraps! All amazing! And their FRIESSS!?? Best fries I've ever had. They also have authentic Mexican food! Best of both worlds! My family and I enjoy their breakfast so much that we recently came to pick up some breakfast for a father's day brunch. I love the woman at the counter. They're hilarious and so sweet. Every time I come here they'll ask about school and how I'm doing. Too kind. Now I see many people here whom reviewed Rosa's talking about their 'bad' service, but imagine having 7 people over the phone on hold, another 7 waiting to pay or pick up food, AND having to bring a room full of customers' food?! It's not easy for just 2 woman! So cut them a little slack if you decide to go. If you don't want to wait or are having trouble getting in touch with them, don't call/eat there around 12pm to 1:30pm. I work in town, we have about 20 employees, so they could do a great business from us..ordered once and loved the grilled chicken with avocado...BUT every other time we tried to order they either didn't bother to answer the phone or when they did, they were rude, say no delivery and hang up.. I love this place, everything is so good. I moved out of town so every time I come to Perth Amboy I have to go to Rosa's there's nothing like it anywhere else. Im rating based on food and service. My recommendations : shrimp penne vodka, Steak tacos, steak quesadilla, any buger is great with fires, wraps and cheddar broccoli soup (they only have that soup on Tuesdays I believe but they have other great soups as well everyday) On the other hand I have to say it is not a resturant so people get confused as to if they sit down and have someone come to them with bread and iced water, no you go to the counter and order then sit if you are eating there or take it to go. This restaurant, if you can call it that, is horrible. They have consistently screwed up my orders as well as my friends' orders. When this issue was brought up to them their answer was "I have no control over that." How does he manager of an establishment Not have control over what goes on there? As someone who has worked in various restaurants and been to school for culinary arts HRI I have experienced these issues myself and NEVER have I ever seen a manager tell their customer that they could not fix, return, or change their order after a mistake made on their part. They are rude and do not conduct themselves as good business people. Their food is less than mediocre and this establishment does not deserve to be called a restaurant. After today I will no longer recommend rosas as I was a regular customer and never had an issue till today from a woman named Mari. Which was very rude and nasty. I was called one time after 45 mins and told my food was brought back and would have to pick up because they said they called and knocked which is not the case and never had an issue before. I called back and asked to speak with a manager because i never received such horrible service and never had this happened before was told I had to pick it up from across town 7 months after waiting 45 minutes because the workers didn't do their job and even worse unprofessional. Food is good and usually have better service but that's all it takes to loose my service especially being pregnant and as a regular customer . I purchased the tilapia platter a week ago with my co-workers. It was good so today I ordered to have delivery to my work place. One: they wrote my callback number down wrong. I called back an hour later. I was told my telephone was wrong. Two: the delivery guy was there (I have no clue why he didn't ring the bell). They called back after I'm waiting over an hour for my food to say "The owner said the delivery guy has other deliveries, we will refund your money. Rosa's is slamin'! It's a little Latin deli that has off the cusp sandwiches, amazing french fries, and big portions at a reasonable price.
