The Edison Diner is one of our usual haunts when we visit central jersey. They used to have a great Roasted Half Duck withe Cherry Sauce, that sadly has gone away post-covid. I had a very pleasant experience at the Edison Diner. I went on a Wednesday morning around 9:40 AM. There's a spacious parking lot that goes around the whole building. When I arrived, the lot was pretty much empty, so I snagged a spot right in front of the doors. When I walked in, the host warmly greeted me with a friendly 'Good morning' and seated me right away in a booth. The diner was very clean, including the bathroom, and had a nice color scheme with a vintage vibe. Mary was my server, and she came over immediately to greet me and bring me water. She was attentive, fast, and made sure I didn't feel rushed. She checked in with me during the meal and always kept my glass of water full. I ordered the short stack of pancakes with two eggs, sausage links as my choice of meat, and orange juice. My food came out in less than 15 minutes. Everything was nice and hot, the pancakes were fluffy and buttery, the sausage links were cooked to a perfect golden brown, and the eggs were good, my only criticism is that I had asked for over medium but my eggs were more over easy. The pancakes were so big I started to wonder if I accidentally ordered the "stack for two"! I couldn't finish them and took the rest home as leftovers. At the end of the meal, you pay at the host stand, which takes both cash and credit/debit cards. My total meal was around $21 and change before tip, which was well worth it for the food, portions, service, and overall experience. Who ever the clown is the "Manager" that works Monday nights need to get fired. I ordered a chicken francaise and it clearly states on the menu that it's OVER rice. I pick up my order (20 minutes drive) and I get home to my surprise of no rice included. I call the restaurant and this clown was argumentative telling me that I have to specifically order the rice because it's not automatically included. Are you kidding me? He's an idiot!!! $40 for a partial dinner and a lot of nasty attitude. Never again!! Wish I can give zero stars!!! read more

I just left this dinner. 1) I was one of only three colored couples there. 2) A white man attacked one of the Mexican servers and they didn't do anything to the man. Didn't ask him to leave, didn't ask him to apologize, nothing. 3) This is the most important part to me, every table had beautiful dressing on their plate. Lovely flowers, garnish. Our plates didn't have that. There is a sense of segregation there. I would rate this a 3.5/5 stars, I ordered the pork souvlaki and I thought I was just okay, it lacked flavor. It does come with fries which I opted for home fries instead and huge plate of Greek salad. For the price I think the portions were good but the taste wasn't anything special. My partner got the mushroom panini which I thought was better. I would stick with classic American foods if you're here it doesn't seem like they do too well with ethnic foods which is a shame since their menu is so extensive. The ahi tuna was good just pricy considering you could get a whole poke bowl for how much it costs. The server was nice but could've checked up a more considering I ran out of water. Meh, but I wanted it to be much better. Went here after a concert recently. I've been here before shows at the Arts center, and have always enjoyed it well enough. This time, though, wasn't ideal for a lot of reasons. I ordered the banana nut pancakes, and when they came their was neither banana nor walnut in them. They were plain cakes, hard as rocks. They felt as if they'd been rewarmed. also asked for crispy well done bacon and got strips that were just this side of raw. When I pointed out the problems, the waitress shrugged and said the kitchen was closing. They reduced the bill, but unfortunately the pancakes could only be eaten around the outsides. One of the nicest, cleanest diners I've ever been to. The interior is beautiful. They have an extensive menu, so there's something for everyone. I ordered the leige waffles and they were sooooo good. One of New Jersey's many classic roadside diners (that's the reason why I love New Jersey so much, all the diners), this diner serves a fantastic burger with a huge plate of fries 6 inches high, and they were thick cut fries too! I also love the fact that they serve my favorite wine here, Moscato. I came here after seeing a show at the New Jersey State Theater, and I was not disappointed. That's why I love diners. I had a horrible experience a few years ago where I sat for 15 minutes without being waited on and left. I thought I would give it one more try but what a mistake. I was not waited on for a long time and only because the host happened to walk by my table did I finally see a waiter. I ordered Prime Rib, asking for it to be cooked Medium Rare. Today I enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Edison Diner. This diner sits just off of Rt.1 South so make sure to be careful not to miss it when approaching. Even though there was clearly a morning rush, my parents and I were seated immediately. We sat down and ordered coffee that was refilled 3 times throughout the course of our dining experience. The service here was excellent. Our waiter made sure we always had what we needed and was kind and friendly. He brought us plenty of napkins and creamer and made us feel very welcome. I ordered the Monte Cristo which came with a very generous helping in addition to a side of fries, pickle, and coleslaw. My parents ordered french toast and pancakes respectively which also came with generous portions. Our bill totaled only $55 for the 3 of us which was very reasonable for the portions and quality of the food. Overall, I would highly recommend this diner for its great food, excellent service, and reasonable pricing. read more

This place is hit or miss-- sometimes the bread is dry; sometimes the food is cold. The best thing going for it is that there are some comfortable booths to sit in. Sometimes the portion is small for what you're getting (tuna melt!) other times the portion is good and comes with soup and generous sides (turkey meal, meatloaf dinner). But then the price- it'll run you about $25. The burgers cost less than the dinner platters, but you could get a better burger somewhere else (ex. Smashburger). After catching a movie at AMC down the street, I came to the edison diner for some late night food. It wasn't too packed luckily so we got some nice seats by the cushion booth. When they came out with the menus I was overwhelmed by the number of choices - you can probably find anything and very thing you can think of here. For our appetizer, I ordered mozzarella sticks which was enough for my group of 3 to enjoy. For our entrees I got banana pancakes which came in a stack of three, my friends ordered an eggplant parmigiana and the other got veggie fajitas. The portion sizes are pretty huge so keep that in mind when you order. Overall it was a reasonable priced meal, maybe not the best diner I've been to but certainly alright! Finally got the chance to dine in recently, after my husband suggested it for lunch after an early movie. He used to come all the time during his college days, and always raves about how much food you get for the price and quality. He's not wrong. Last time, I had ordered a salad (who does that at a diner?). This time, I decided to get something good. I went with the chicken cordon bleu sandwich. This is grilled chicken, ham, and Swiss on a panini. The chicken was perfectly cooked. It looks like it could be dry since it's so thin, but it wasn't at all. The fries it came with taste better than they look. The menu did say it comes with curly fries so I was a bit disappointed when regular fries came out. I assumed they ran out or just didn't serve them anymore so I didn't ask, but then I saw another table have a sammie served with curly fries. Lesson of the story - always ask for the curly fries. The dish also comes with a pretty hefty portion of cole slaw, which was a nice addition to the meal to help negate some of the greasiness. It came with a pickle too, but it was just meh. My husband had the patty melt, which also came with fries and cole slaw, and a pickle. While the patty was cooked to a medium rare as requested, it was just too greasy overall. The bottom bread was soaked with oil. We both agreed it probably wasn't something we'd order again. We had leftovers for lunch the next day, and my sandwich reheated very well. Overall, I've been please with my food & service, wait is not long, though servers often forget things like cranb sc for turkey, lemon for tea, soup spoon, etc. Only sent something back maybe twice. If there was a discrepency with bill or the food, the Hosts generally accommodate, though a few can be sharp-tongued and loud. (place is family owned) IF ordering Take-out, Open+ Check It before you leave. I've had a few orders missing things, like BLT missing the B, and another time missing the T. Instead of potato chips, they serve Veggie chips, which are hard, so I usually ask for something else, like slice of tom or cole slaw. When choosing the bread for a sandwich, specify regular kinds or their extra-thick kind - otherwise you'll get the latter. *Prices increa$ed substantially in recent years, but food is very good and generally worth it. This was my second time here and the food wasn't as good as the first time. I ordered a monte cristo sandwich platter. It was unlike any other monte cristo I had. This one was cooked ham and turkey and Swiss between French toast with sprinkled powdered sugar. There was no powder sugar on the pieces and it was a hot mess. It was messy to eat. It should not be. The fries were good and not oily. The coleslaw was good and the Monte cristo came with raspberry preserves. I wish it was seedless but I can't have my way all the time. The matzo ball soup was good and very hot. And I ordered unsweetened ice tea which was good. The service was excellent and it was very clean and organized in there. We've been here a number of times. While it's nice that dinner entrees come with so much food, the high prices (in the $30's) aren't justified considering the so so dinners we've tried. We asked to take rolls home. The waiter took the basket with the rolls away. The matzah ball soup was actually good, the best thing I ate tonight. The waiter neglected to tell us all of the soups available, and the shrimp scampi didn't taste like a scampi sauce at all - there were tomatoes in it, aa well. [I like tomatoes, but they don't belong in scampi]. My husband's side of corn was overcooked. I forgot their tiramisu is more of a cake. For $90, for 2 people - way too much.
