The building housing the new Dough Co. has been through rough times. Or rather, the businesses that set up shop here don't seem to last very long. Previously, the space was home to "Chicken Bonz"--a low-concept chicken wings and chicken sandwich joint. The problem with Chicken Bonz is that it just wasn't very good--the idea is good, right? Everyone likes chicken wings and/or sandwiches. But these were just okay. If you're going to do one thing and one thing only, you need to do it well. The Dough Co., though, does two things: calzones and cookies. The menu features 31 different types of calzones, and I'm sure they will make to order whatever combo you request. They do everything fresh, which is a good sign. I had the "Steak Bomb" which is an approximation of a Philly Cheesesteak inside a pizza crust. Not bad--no whiz--but you know, this isn't gourmet food. Come to think of it, it'd be even less gourmet wit' whiz. Well, you get the idea. I'm anxious to try the Spicy Taco and Potato and Bacon. Well, you know, not anxious...but if I go here again (and I probably will--only three blocks from my home, and open until 3 a.m.) I'll try one of these. I haven't had the cookies, but you can only get them in batches of four. Peculiar. Overall: For $5.50, my steak calzone was a good and reasonably tasty deal. The price also includes a can of soda or bottle of water. I had to wait a bit longer than I'd have expected (15-20 minutes) but I had a new Indian cookbook to keep me company. read more

So my roommates ordered food last night around midnight. I was sleeping, they apparently were out back and didn't hear the delivery driver knock on the door. (Apparently, it took him a little over an hour and a half to deliver the food instead of the 30 mins quoted; doesn't really matter) So, instead of 1 - calling the phone number to get their attention to answer the door (I used to do this a lot when I was a delivery driver) or 2 - going back to the shop and keeping the food (which was paid for via credit card) the driver instead made the decision to start pounding on my bedroom window, which woke me up. Dough Co is just one of those things you need to try when you're in Eugene. It's not the best, but it's also not the worst. They're open late and they deliver. It doesn't get any better than that. Especially for drunk college kids that are super hungry at night because of you know, reasons. Honestly, I love their ranch sauce. I think that's the best sauce I've ever eaten. Overcharged me then laughed about it when I brought it up to the woman working. I feel like they do that on the regular since their clientele is normally drunk & wouldn't notice. I use to frequently order calzones way before I became a parent. Flash Forward 8 years I decided on a whim to introduce my picky son to the glorious Calzone from Dough Co. I totally get that this establishment is right in the heart of campus but it was really a shame that the cashier seemed irritated and rude when I made my order and compelled my child to Order his dinner using his nice words. At most restaurants when a customer asks what normally comes on popular menu items the wait staff are more than happy to offer a suggestion. I realize with interchangeable sauces and toppings the options for calzones are endless..... We we're the only ones present in the place so it couldn't have been the staff were trying to hurry. Sadly it was an inconvenience to ask if it would be better to have the ranch sauce over the hot sauce in the spicy chicken calzone. I was desperately looking for somewhere that was affordable and did deliveries (since I was bedridden with a migraine), and I'm lucky I found this place. The delivery took less time than they said it would. They say 45 minutes to an hour, and it look more like 35 minutes or so. Plus the calzone I ordered was very hot when I got it. I'll definitely consider ordering from them again when I'm sick and don't have the energy to cook. I got the chicken and pesto calzone with marinara sauce. I think next time I will get something a little more flavorful and with ranch or BBQ instead of the marinara. Can't wait to try the cookies. read more

Ever since I got to Eugene, Dough Co. has always been more of that late night pizza option, perfect for college students. If you are looking for an easy walk-in restaurant for a calzone, this is your place and let me tell you they have literally almost over 30 different kinds they can make! Let me be honest here and say this is not top quality food, but at this price, it's well worth it. Not to mention they also make their own cookies and they are the bomb!! Another cool thing about this place is that they are open quite late into the night, almost till about 3am I believe. I was very disappointed with the experience I had here tonight. A friend and I ordered food from here 20 minutes before they closed. They placed our order and told us it would be 15 minutes. I proceeded to wait parked in my car for 40 minutes in front of the store only to watch them lock the doors and start cleaning 25 minutes into the wait. It was clear that they weren't making any of our food or planning on it as they counted up the til. The workers saw us sitting in our car and avoided eye contact with us. We then called only to find out they had turned their phones off. After waiting only to find out that they didn't make our food AFTER taking our order, there were no places opened to get food. They waisted our time and ignored us. Extremely disappointing customer service. There food is good, but I will not be going back after this experience. Incredibly unprofessional and rude. read more

These people are liars. I called and tried to order, only to have someone abruptly tell me they don't deliver to my area. I know this is a lie because they left fliers on our doors specifically saying they delivered to this area. What a lousy way to run a business, it's hilarious. This is a must-go if you are driving by Eugene, Oregon. Informal, tiny place in the U District, The Dough Co. makes calzones. That's all they make. Lots of different kinds, with vegetarian and meat selections and the dough made fresh on the premises. They run great specials and you can get full for a few bucks. Very nice staff and easy to park. I ordered two calzones and a 4pk of cookies. I got the Combo and BBQ Chicken calzones, and two oatmeal and two chocolate chip cookies. The calzones were pretty good. I had the Combo on the day I ordered. Fillings were tasty, but a little bit less than I would have liked. Maybe it was from the delivery, but it seemed all the guts were in the bottom of the calzone; the top by the seam was just a lot of dough. But speaking of the dough, it was tasty, as was the dipping marinara. Basically the same thoughts on the fillings in the BBQ chicken one: fillings were tasty, but just all in one spot, not spread throughout. I kept the BBQ chix calzone in its delivery box in the fridge, and it still reheated well in a toaster oven two days later when I ate it (aka, didn't get soggy). VERY impressive. The BBQ sauce is delicious, too. The cookies were tasty: crispy at the edges but chewy in the middle. Worth it, IMO, if you're looking for a homemade style cookie. Cheap and delicious calzones. They are open until 3am every single day of the week and they also deliver for a $1 fee. If you are near campus, up late, and looking for something to satisfy your hunger, I definitely recommend this place. They have calzones for whatever you're in the mood for (31 different kinds, to be exact), and they also have milk and cookies if you're just looking for a midnight snack. This place is brilliant! Seriously, giant tasty cheesy calzones at all hours of the night. HOW CAN YOU GO WRONG???? What's even more incredible is how tasty the calzone's are. They're not just for drunk people. Huge portions. I highly recommend #22: potato, bacon, cheddar and mozzarella. It's like a gigantic baked potato hot pocket. And when you dip it in Ranch ... homg. Heaven in your mouth. I tried that #8: pepperoni, sausage, hamburger, bacon, ham, ricotta and mozzerella, but it really just couldn't compare to the #22. I also hear that the #9 Chicken Pesto is pretty tasty as well. Decor is your typical fast-food joint, formica picnic benches, no frills, but a clean bathroom. They take credit, always a joy. The only downside? You have to wait around 15 minutes for your calzone. One night last week I was searching for a place to get a quick meal, it was late and almost everything seemed closed. I ran across the Dough Co. and thought I'd give it a try. $7.25 for any calzone, all decently sized and made to order. It was delicious. My only complaint is I wish there was more to it. Not much filling in the spicy chicken calzone. The chicken seemed to be only bread and loads of cheese. A little disappointed by that , but I'll have to give it a try again. Mediocre calzones that are popular with the late-night college crowd. While large, the calzones always feel a bit dry. Some are way better than others, but it shouldn't have to be a case of rolling the dice for quality. The cookies are a standout though. Very average quality food here. I made the mistake of coming at a busy time while looking for late night eats with some friends and ordered a few calzones. After waiting a while in line there is no where to sit so we stood around waiting for the food to finish. Took about 30 minutes to get half of them and the other half got forgotten so we had to put in the order again to get them. A simple food stop turned into over an hour. But when I order ahead cookies 25 minutes in advance and we get there and wait another 20 that seams a little ridiculous.
