Used to love this place. Went tonight and the sandwich was horrible and wrong. Ordered a French dip with horseradish mayo. One on side they put butter and the other was just mayo,l and meat was so oily, yuck!! So disappointed. Hope it turns around. read more

More bread than substance Salad sub was missing a lot .. Paid $ 9.65 for this sandwich it was poorly made . Plus found pepporicini stem in my sandwich.. Why? ALL the veggies on the sandwich looked like some one just sprinkled some lettuce , on sliver of bell pepper, 2 skinny slices of avocado. I barely had a tomato on the sandwich.. Avoid. This was my last try. I thought we'd seen a change at this Big Town but it is not to be. How hard is "no pickles?" How hard is, "extra pepperoncini?" At this Big Town nothing is transmitted from front to back. No matter how I ask, they nod and smile and the sandwich still comes out wrong. Avoid. Ho somewhere else. read more

My partner and I visited this place recently on the recommendation of some friends. I ordered one of their avocado sandwiches. I was impressed by how skillfully they were able to slice their avocado slices paper thin and then artfully assemble a thin layer on my sandwich (hint: this is sarcasm for wow... almost no avocado...). Overall, very sparse on the ingredients. I have never been to a sandwich shop and ordered an avocado sandwich where I cannot even taste any avocado. The only positive is the bread. The bread they use is not bad- but worth the $10? Heck no. I don't remember what my partner ordered but she was underwhelmed and we both agreed we will not be returning. From the second we walked through the door we were taking care of, shortly after getting our food the cook brought us cookies of our choice just because and after we were too full to finish our lunch when I asked for a bag they took our sandwiches back and wrapped them up marked them "his" & "hers" and it was just a sweet touch to the end of the meal. I think I've passed by this Big Town Hero location about a million times and never paid a single ounce of attention to it. I knew it was there, but it's really hard to see and remember. It's in a strip mall, in the same parking lot as Albertsons grocery store. It was only when I was looking up another business nearby that I really remembered it was there. I came in here with my mother for lunch when I made a trip to the fabric store, as they are in the same parking lot. It just sounded good and something we hadn't eaten in a while, but was a quick lunch as well. Some days quick is best, but I don't want a drive-thru either. There were only a couple other people in the restaurant when we came in. Employees looked a little bored, standing around and basically doing nothing, as there weren't customers to serve. We were greeted immediately by the cashier, who was beyond friendly. I was actually impressed. It seemed like her personality was just naturally sweet and smiley, she didn't have to fake it. At times I can be one of the most indecisive people on the planet, and I take forever. I am one of those customers, yes. Luckily for me, our cashier was more than patient. She chatted with mom and I as we were looking at the menu. She didn't try to go overboard with customer service, it was simply a nice chat. Much like you might have with a stranger in line at the grocery store. Pleasant, but not obnoxious, if that makes sense. I ordered the turkey bacon and avocado sandwich on onion bread. It's my absolute favorite. Who can go wrong with turkey bacon and avocado?! You can't. Mom ordered something like roast beef or french dip-like sandwich. I honestly don't remember what it was called. She really liked it though. She had the onion bread as well. I would highly recommend if you can't eat more than a 6 inch sandwich at Subway, only get a mini here. The medium one will be too big. Visually, it doesn't look like it, but it is. I can't ever finish the medium one. Would I return? Absolutely. I thoroughly enjoyed my food, and the customer service was excellent, and it was a much better experience than I had planned. I expected mediocre and had better. It's definitely worth a return trip. We love this place. The sandwiches are good and some are pretty original, I love the very berry Turkey. The prices are good too!

It is unfortunate that many locations have closed. I am glad that there is still one left even though it is a bit of a trek to get a sandwich. The best thing I like about Big Town Hero and something that no one else has is there awesome Onion Bread. Hands down my only choice. My go to sandwich is the classic club with, of course, onion bread. Trust me on this! My only complaint and it is a big one is the continuation of minimizing the amount of ingredients within the sandwich, mostly the meat and cheese. The only reason I go here is because the overall sandwich is good in taste, but they just need to be less cheap because sometimes I feel like I don't get my moneys worth. Every location that has closed, has started with this practice of using less ingredients. Hopefully this place doesn't shut down either, but if this keeps continuing to happen, who knows! Hopefully, it doesn't happen, because then I wouldn't be able to get my onion bread fix. read more

My man and I stopped in for a bite. He ordered meatball without pepperocinis and veggies, and I ordered the Italian with out lettuce, pickles, and pepperrocinis. The bread was extremely fresh as were the ingredients. The owner was there and my man had a nice conversation with him about a franchise. The owner asked how we liked our sandwiches and we told him the "Sandwich Prepper" left off the provolone cheese on Man's sandwich and Only gave me minuscule dressing. I asked for more, which I received. Owner said his pastrami and Rueben sandwiches were totally awesome!! So, I came back the next day intending to get a delicious Rueben , where as the owner stated the day before that all Rueben's have at least 2inches of sauerkraut across the whole sandwich. Not on my sandwich! The sauerkraut was a scant 1/8 inch, no cheese, and the Prepper gave me Italian dressing instead of the Thousand Island that I asked for. I honestly forgot there was a Big Town Hero in the Eugene/ Springfield area. I used to love going to one of the other locations to get a mini very berry turkey. I spotted this place the other day when I drove by to drop my guy, and friends off at the river to go floating. On my way back into town I couldn't get this place out of my mind so I had to stop. I am glad I did. I spied my Son's V-Dub in the lot, the only place he could have been would have been in here getting grub...perfect timing! I got to have lunch with my youngest boy! I ordered a larger sami than I normally get, just so I can have left overs. I was so impressed with how fast they made our sami's. Everything tasted just as good as I remembered. I am so glad I ordered the bigger one. The bread was perfectly soft, just like I remember it being, and I just love the cranberry on the turkey. Makes me want to be a kid, and do that happy dance while they are eating. I am sure I will be back, I am just not sure how often just because I do not live near by. My kids do, so I guess I can always stop when I go visit them. My Son also loved the fact there was a V-Dub bus painted on the wall. My boys all love the buses, bugs, and those Samari's. read more

Something has changed at BTH. I've been twice in the last two months and it's a different sandwich. The bread didn't seem fresh and the lettuce isn't right. Seems waterlogged. I used to love Big Town Hero when they had locations on 18th and W 11th. I was so excited when I remembered about the Mohawk location. Unfortunately the person who took our order was extremely rude, their service was so slow (25 minutes for 3 sandwiches) and people who got there after us got served before us. I also didn't remember that they had extra vegetables you could add and we weren't asked if we wanted any. Overall very poor experience and I would highly suggest going elsewhere. read more

I haven't been to a BTH in awhile, especially after the W. 11th one sadly bit the dust. So when I found a reason to try the Mohawk location out, I was happy to see the franchise still has a good sandwich. Unlike Subway, the sandwiches have a standard recipe they work off of, you can of course mix it up if you want to. I prefer this to the "build-your-own" schtick. They don't try to sell you on a "toasted" sandwich and don't use gobs of sauces. I'll take my sandwich dry before I'll trust a "sandwich artist" with that squirt bottle of mayo. The service is friendly and as fast as can be expected for the small operation they have running. When I stopped by it seemed to be 2 people working, one person would have to come out and take the orders then hustle back to help build the order. This creates a bit of a lag and can make it seem like the register is awkwardly unmanned. I would suggest at least having the employees in the back greet someone when they arrive at the empty register, just to keep everyone on the same page. A simple "Hi! We'll be right with you." is sufficient to the silence that is often offered to the folks who wander in wondering how to place their order. Otherwise I really do need to get my butt over to that side of town more often. It's much bigger inside than you'd expect from the outside, which is always a plus for those who don't enjoy a cramped space for an eatery. read more

It was not bad. Better than most subway. It was not great either though. For that expensive a sandwich I wish I could have gotten a bit more on it. The only thing I feel like I got enough of was the lettuce.. There was also only one girl who was working, which meant it took a bit to get our food.. Next time I am craving sandwiches, I will go to Jimmy Johns. We had hoped this would compare for when we are in that neighborhood, but I would rather drive over to gateway and get a better sandwich. read more

Fresh baked bread daily, the crew members will modify any sandwich to your specifications, the veggies are fresh and the salads amazing. For wheelchair users there is a power door at the entrance and a huge accessible bathroom. The seating also leaves space to maneuver. Located in a strip mall, this deli provides no frills sandwiches on fluffy soft bread. Subway may be their rival, offering the same basic lunch deal with chips and a beverage along side the sandwich. Between the two, there really isn't much to compare except that both offer the same decent service and mediocre sandwich. BTH may be a local thing, but there are so many other great deli eateries that make this one insignificant. read more

My husband and I were planning to get lunch at Quizno's but apparently it is no longer where we thought it was. Still wanting sandwiches we decided to give Big Town Hero a try. I honestly wasn't expecting much. Their prices are reasonable, counter help was cute, nice, helpful. I bought a spring salad and he got a meaty sandwich with bacon. It came out quickly and it was wonderful! My husband made me try his sandwich he enjoyed it so much, and it was really good.
