What a fun family night. I love that they allow all ages to come to drag bingo at 5pm on…read moreSaturdays. There were so many families enjoying time together. Some of the other reviews were negative on their food...but our food was fantastic. The burgers were moist and not greasy. The waffle cut fries were hot and crispy. The bartenders work non stop to get your drinks and food out quickly. My daughter loved the churro style donuts (but they are messy). The decor is a D&D dive bar scene....so many things to look at as you wait for bingo to start. They just changed the rules and you do have to pay $1.00 per person to play bingo...but where else can you get that type of entertainment for a dollar. We can't wait to return.

At one point, the bartender disappeared for approximately fifteen minutes, leaving several patrons waiting without acknowledgment. When she finally returned, she casually mentioned she had been on a personal phone call. A second woman then stepped behind the bar, immediately clarifying that she was not, in fact, a bartender. When I expressed concern about the extended absence and lack of service--something I would consider standard feedback in any hospitality setting--I was abruptly told I was "speaking badly" about the staff and was asked to leave. This kind of defensiveness and disregard for patrons is deeply unprofessional, especially for an establishment that positions itself within a community where communication, accountability, and mutual respect are paramount. Eugene has a growing nightlife and alternative culture scene, and many people--locals and visitors alike--expect spaces that uphold those values. Based on my experiences, I cannot recommend The Serpent & the Sparrow. There are other venues in town that offer a far more welcoming environment, competent service, and a genuine respect for their patrons.

All of the staff are amazing and I've never had a bad experience with customer service. Many staff are high school students. My son worked there and absolutely loved working for Addi. Many customers are regulars and many out of towners that hear word of mouth how great this place is. Prices are fair and you get ALOT of food. Everything tastes great. I have yet to have a dish that didn't taste good. Fresh and made to order. Very flavorful food. The pancake is huge as well as the cinnamon roll. 4 people could eat it and each would have a belly full. The vibe is cute inside and very cozy. I love to sit and look at the decor. You can't go wrong with Addi's Diner.

Addi herself waited on us and was super personable and sweet. I heard her across the cafe ask after a customer's new baby -- he hadn't been in for a year, she just remembered. A homeless guy came in and she listened to his rambling story attentively, then got him some food and sent him on his way. She's a gem. The food was pretty typical greasy spoon breakfast, which is exactly what I wanted. Solid meal and much appreciated at that hour. I think I heard then say they opened at 4am. Delightful little life saver of a spot.

We had spent nearly…read moreeverything we had to make the move, and my husband immediately had to start traveling for his new job. On our first morning in our new town, we went to The Original Pancake House for breakfast. It was a simple meal, but one we were grateful we could afford. When we asked for the check, our server smiled and told us someone had already paid for it. That small act of kindness made me feel like I truly belonged in our new home. It reminded me that even in an unfamiliar place, there were good people who cared about others. Since that day, every time we visit The Original Pancake House, we make it a point to pay it forward whenever we can. It's our way of honoring the kindness that meant so much to us and has stuck with me. Beyond the beautiful memory, the food is incredible. It's hands down the best breakfast I've ever had. Comfort food that tastes like it's made with love. You must try the Dutch baby! The ladies who work there are always so warm and welcoming, making every visit feel like coming home. Some restaurants serve great food. This one gave my family hope when we needed it most, and I'll never forget that.

The Original Pancake House in Eugene is a charming, family-friendly spot with genuine warmth and stellar coffee. The casual, lively vibe makes it feel like the proper brunch destination you'd hope for from a legendary breakfast joint. We ordered their hero dish--a side of buttermilk pancakes--and the Irish Omelette. The pancakes delivered real flavor: fluffy, tender, with classic buttermilk tang. My only critique? They arrived cool, likely from sitting in the warmth window a bit too long. Off the griddle, these would shine. The Irish Omelette was more disappointing. Designed to be airy and light with corned beef and potatoes inside, ours was overcooked and rubbery--far from the delightful, pillowy texture it should be. For a restaurant with this history, execution should be consistent. The coffee and service were warm and attentive, which goes a long way. 3/5 stars. Worth visiting for atmosphere, especially if your pancakes arrive hot. Try during slower service to avoid the window-sit fate. The Portland location executes at a higher level.
