Dined here a few nights ago for dinner. It's located on the second floor of the hotel. Our server was very prompt & nice. I was having difficulty choosing between the Alfredo or pesto pasta. Thankfully per her honest recommendation I chose the pesto with blackened chicken. She was honest about the lack of flavor in the Alfredo & from how lackluster the pesto tasted I know she was right. This was the worst pesto I've ever tasted. The lack of flavor was astounding! Anyone who loves pesto knows it's very flavorful. Maybe because I'm from New Jersey ( the Italian food capital) my opinion is a bit skewered. All in all the blackened chicken & garlic bread saved the meal and made it great. This is a very cute place to have dinner or drinks. A place you could take a date prior to dinner or after. I would come back, the cosmopolitan was delicious.

Came here for a night cap since we were staying at the hotel. As soon as you walk-in, the restaurant and bar is completely open. We found a seat but the table hadn't been wiped down. Someone came and wiped our booth down and see was extremely nice. You can tell however, the rag was old bc it left behind a stench. There wasn't a lot of ppl there. I ordered an espresso martini which was really good. We did eat here the next night, ordered apps. We had a different waiter and str was nice as well. This time it was packed with folks on a business trip. The food was average but it was satisfying and super convenient.

We stayed at the Magnolia to go to the Astros game. I was offered free breakfast in lieu of the 1k Marriott points as a bonus. Let me say, this was the best hotel breakfast we have had. You have the option of ordering from the menu or a fully stocked hot buffet. My wife ordered the Breakfast Tacos and my son and I had the buffet. The breakfast potatoes are amazing. Service was prompt and friendly. Staff dressed in their Astros gear and is plentiful.

The Dispatch Pasta

The pasta was very fresh, full of steam when mixing in the bowl. I got the brisket empanada. It was full of flavor, paired well with the mango slaw underneath. The chips and salsa took a little longer to come out, but that's because they were making more chips. You could tell they were fresh. Deniquia was very attentive and prompt with the service. However, that could be because the restaurant wasn't extremely busy. Dress casual, not a fancy hotel restaurant.

She informed me that each cocktail was specially crafted by the "head bartender" and even let me try some samples. I believe at that time, I tried the Loaded Mashed Potato Balls and they were delicious/unique. This time around, I ordered the chicken Alfredo via DoorDash and had it delivered to my job. I can confidently say that my order was freshly made and was still indeed warm when it arrived. The sauce was nice and creamy and paired well with the fettuccine noodles and diced grilled chicken. The portion of the pasta was satisfying and was enough for me to eat about 4 servings from it. The ambiance of the restaurant is very lowkey and chill but nicely decorated and well lit. I would consider this restaurant and specifically this location a hidden gem.

Jonathan's The Rub - East End…read more I frequent this location almost weekly, so it's safe to say I'm a regular! The staff is consistently friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the menu. They're always happy to answer questions or offer recommendations. Happy Hour Happy hour is a HUGE plus! It's offered Monday through Saturday (yes, even Saturday!) from 2-6 PM at the bar. There are several drink options featuring gin, tequila, and vodka, along with wine and beer selections. My personal favorite is the grapefruit sangria. As for the happy hour food, you really can't go wrong! * Chicken Satay: Flavorful and well-seasoned. * Chicken Tenders: Available regular or Buffalo-style. You get two generously sized tenders. * JTR Sliders: Absolutely delicious! * Garlic Knots: Another solid choice. Lunch & Dinner Smash Burger: Hands down, one of my favorite smash burgers! It comes with cheese, pickles, Jonny sauce, and a generous portion of fresh-cut fries. What sets this burger apart is the seasoning and those perfectly crispy edges. The fries are the cherry on top! If you're a burger lover, this is a must-try. Soup de Julio: It was okay, but in my opinion, it could use a little more spice to bring out the flavors. Chicken Alfredo: I ordered mine with blackened chicken, chipotle, and added broccoli. AMAZING! The combination of flavors was delicious, and I would absolutely order it again. Houston & Greek Salads: I've tried both with blackened chicken, and both are great options. However, there are a couple of things worth mentioning. The Greek salad does not come with a traditional Greek dressing, so if you're specifically craving that classic Greek salad flavor, this may not satisfy the craving. The Houston salad, on the other hand, comes with a creamy dressing that has a little kick to it, which I really enjoy. My biggest complaint is the inconsistency between dine-in and takeout salads. When dining in, the salads are served with a sliced chicken breast. However, when ordering takeout, I've repeatedly received chopped chicken pieces that are often dry, hard, and disappointing. They previously served the sliced chicken breast with takeout orders as well, and I wish they would return to that. I generally dislike returning food, so I've kept the salads despite the disappointing chicken. Unfortunately, if this continues, I'll probably have to switch to fried chicken for my takeout salads, even though I'd prefer the healthier grilled option. Dessert Apple Crumble Cheesecake: It was okay, but I think it has the potential to be much better. Adding some cooked or sautéed apples into the cheesecake mixture before baking, or even as a topping, could really elevate the flavor and texture. That said, I would order it again. It pairs nicely with a cup of coffee and a good movie! Overall I'm clearly a serial eater at this location, and there's a reason I keep coming back! The food is consistently good overall, the staff is friendly, and the happy hour is one of the best perks. There are a few areas where I think improvements could be made, particularly with the takeout salads, but my overall experiences have been very positive. Jonathan's The Rub - East End remains one of my go-to spots, and I definitely recommend giving it a try!

The menu is exceptionally well-curated, hitting that sweet spot of what Houston does best. comfort, creativity, and just enough flair to keep things interesting. The space matches the vibe: modern and minimalist with a subtle Chip-and-Joanna-Gaines touch. The drink menu is just as thoughtful. Even the well spirits are solid. We kicked things off with the deviled eggs topped with maple pork belly, easily some of the creamiest I've ever had. Do not split an order. Everyone at the table should get their own. For the entrée, I went with the Sunday enchiladas made with Killen's famous brisket. Smoke, salt, pepper and exactly what you want from a dish like this. It typically comes with Mexican rice and refried beans, but the rice was running behind during my visit, so I swapped in scrambled eggs (it was brunch) no complaints. They were simple buttery, creamy and just damn delicious. peach bread pudding that was downright decadent. Easily one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Make you wanna slap yo momma.

How can you look at pictures of those pies and not go? Well, it was a great decision. I was a bit early and my party wasn't there yet, but they sat me anyway, which was so appreciated. I ended up picking a drink with the recommendation of our waitress and she was spot on. For the three of us, we had split: - Texas Tartare: tenderloin steak, smoked jalapeño, parsley, capers, deviled egg, and toast - Je ne sais quoi oysters - Life is Pici: pici pasta, miso butter, hazelnut crunch, and king trumpet mushrooms - Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: whole chicken with apple & parsley salad, truffle jus, pickles - Olive Oil Cake - Pumpkin Cheesecake with gingersnap crust First of all, THE BEST Olive Oil Cake we've ever had. No joke. We liked it so much, we got 2 slices to go for later. So moist, so soft. Get it. The Pumpkin Cheesecake was good too, but it was completely overshadowed by the olive oil cake. Now, onto the savories. The Texas Tartare was very good. Very well seasoned and I loved how much toast came with it. The oysters were fantastic as well, very fresh and well-shucked. The chicken was so tender, moist, and juicy. Even the white meat was super juicy. Sauces that came with it was very complimentary. Service was great - our waitress was very friendly and helped us pick our meals with her recommendations. The kitchen seemed to have at least three workers and numerous staff were standing around chatting. I waited for a host. And waited. And waited. I found this to be curious since there seemed to be quite a large number of staff. After several minutes of waiting, an employee finally came over and asked if I was here to pickup a delivery order. I explained to her that I was actually there to have dinner. At which point she appeared embarrassed and brought over a gentleman, who guided me through the dining room to a seat. He assured me that I made a great choice in picking a restaurant and told me, unprompted, that he would bring me a glass of water. I waited for service. And waited. And waited. I found this to be curious since several staff members were walking around, generally chatting with each other and ignoring the guests. Finally, another gentleman came over to take my order. I ordered the Braised Short Rib. I waited for my glass of water. And waited. And waited. The gentleman who took my order seemed to be the bartender, since he went behind the bar and proceeded to ignore the few guests at the bar. Eventually, 20 minutes after I entered the restaurant and 15 minutes after being seated, I went back to the host stand. I asked the host to cancel my order, since I hadn't even gotten a glass of water yet. He asked me where I was seated. I found this to be curious since he was the one who had seated me. This was really too bad. I was quite eager to try Federal American Grill due to the good reviews about food quality. I'm sure that the food is likely good, though the service was quite lacking, at least on the night that I went. On the plus side, the staff seemed to be having a great time chatting with each other while ignoring the guests.
