We were staying nearby and wanted a non-hotel place to get a solid breakfast for energy for the day. This place is a very good eggs and breakfast kind of place. I ordered the huevos rancheros. While it wasn't the best version of the dish I've had, I really enjoyed it with the mix of flavors from the egg, beans, tortillas, sauces etc. The hash browns were more ordinary and the coffee was fine. One minor thing: The ketchup is not the "Heinz" version and ours was watery with a bit of leakage out of the bottle (onto me). Service was fine and a highlight is that they played modern pop hits (Harry Styles, for example). Many of you will see the star rating and say ehhh. Hopefully you have read far enough to know the 3 star rating isn't bad in this case. I swear! It is often hard to rank breakfast places because there are certain staples that are hard to mess up or expand upon! So for "egg", the coffee was really good, don't know the blend but it was a nice bold. I ordered a Roosters Delight, and the two small pancakes, two overeasy eggs, and bacon were standard and good. No complaints. I had a happy plate so we know I enjoyed it. The part of the review you need to pay attention to. I have become very aware of service during and emerging from the pandemic. I know there is a shortage of workers and retaining is difficult, so I tend to give a few passes. However, the Egg is a busy place! There were a lot of people and two servers, which of course wears them thin in attentiveness. It took longer than usual to be approached for drinks. Even more so, the hostess was very non communicative and rather stand off ish.... I didn't feel welcomed at all. I noticed her facial expressions and body language with other customers and they were similarly non inviting. We came to Denver on a last minute getaway. Found this place on Yelp looking for a local place to eat. It did not disappoint at all!!! Our waitress, Dezra, was simply amazing!! I came in for breakfast with a friend but wasn't feeling super hungry. I love how you can order smaller portions here. I ordered one pancake which was huge. The pancake was fluffy and had nice crispy edges. The whipped butter was a nice accompaniment and I loved how thin the shrimp was. It had big maple flavor. This place is the perfect stop for breakfast. I loved the decor, and the downtown vibes with the bricks. I also liked that they had local artists' artwork hanging on the walls and they were for sale. Stayed at the Brown Palace and this was the closest independent breakfast restaurant to the hotel. On the menu it says, "home of the Denver Omelette" - which is what I usually order when out for breakfast. So I had to get one here. I ordered it along with a lightly toasted English muffin. The presentation is interesting and kinda puzzling too. They lay a lunchmeat slice of ham over the top with a green pepper ring and some chopped scallions. Which makes one wonder if the omelette is served "inside out" as the eggs itself were kind of tiny for a three egg omelette. They should put them in a blender to give the item some bulk. I cut into it and did discover some ham, peppers, onions and cheese - but there wasn't a lot as the omelette was pretty small. Tasted OK - nothing to write home about, but was decent. They allow you to join the waitlist online which we did while we were 10 min away. We didn't have to wait when we arrived. They provide your own coffee carafe for the 2nd cup. Kids meal only $4. We have come here quite a few times, and it has been one of our favorite places for a good breakfast, but after today, I feel is necessary to update my review. Overall, I think this place is just severely understaffed or just needs a service overhaul. They are ALWAYS busy, and you wait a long time, for someone to take your order, for drinks, for the check....Everything. Then you still have to go up to the counter to pay so it's not like the staff has to even run your card. We waited probably 10 or so minutes for our coffees, before we even ordered food. Then they have the nerve to charge $5.77 for a latte in a pint glass...I would pay less at Starbucks. After our waiter took our order, we waited quite a while, and when he came back to what I thought was bring our food, he actually said "I'm so embarassed, what was your order?" We repeated both of our orders and he said "Hmm, ok, that's what I have... so what am I missing?" Uh can't help ya bro!" then we waited again for our food. Our meals were just ok. I ordered the make your own crepe, which I have done before, but this was lackluster. It was $9.50 for ONE crepe, and they don't tell you it's only one, or ask if you want to anything additional to make up for it. I asked for blueberry and cheesecake filling, and it was basically a swirl of blueberry syrup and cheesecake filling. It wasn't even hot, so my guess is the food sits out for a bit before they bring it to you. My meal came with breakfast potatoes, which I recalled were really good from here but these were completely unseasoned and tasted like old oil. You also get a tiny side of fruit which is mostly cantaloupe. We spent $40 for a very basic breakfast for 2 people. I had ONE measly crepe, and a latte, my husband had the waffle Benedict and a latte. We didn't even order cocktails. Overall we were there for about an hour and maybe 10 minutes of that was spent eating. We both were hungry about 20 mins later. I also went to the ladies room at one point, and although the restroom itself was clean and accessible, something in the hallway to the bathroom smelled like sewage. I truly hope it was not the kitchen or the employee break room near the bathroom. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you are on a tight timeline. Check out Steuben's or Fork and Spoon for breakfast spots nearby. At least you get what you pay for! read more

While visiting Denver, our hotel breakfast was really not up to par. Googled and found The Delectable Egg was in walking distance. Small but delightful place with a large menu. Breakfast came out hot and tasted very good. The portions are large and satisfying. I enjoyed french toast, bacon and scrambled eggs. Delish. They also have assorted hot tea flavors and honey. Our server was really nice and friendly. She even brought me out a cinnamon roll with a candle for my birthday. And let me say the cinnamon roll was far from average. We tried to get a reservation at the delectable egg closer to Union station, but they had a 35 minute wait. So if you are wanting to try this place out, definitely check out the location on court street cuz we walked right in! I ordered the oat milk latte, the early riser skillet with sourdough toast and we split the gluten free strawberry pancakes. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was cool, too, and could my friend and I hadn't seen eachother for awhile so we were hardly interrupted.
