One of my regular weekday lunch spots. Being right at my office building also makes it convenient. I frequent this place almost 2-3 times a week for a quick and comfy lunch. Their Smartmeal Rooster, Cali benedict and cofee are my regular fairs. Their pancakes are also really good, specially when drenched with syrup and jam! Store manager Sharon is always friendly and welcoming, always making sure orders are prepared right and really brings the care and attention every restaurant should strive for. Breakfast and lunch done just right.... read more

Great food. Good service. No frills local diner. Pretty much sums it all up. I had the eggs benedict and my companion had some kind of skillet (I forget which). Both were delicious, as was the fresh squeezed orange juice. The staff was very friendly and prompt. There was no wait for a table on a Friday morning after Christmas and it is conveniently located to the 16th Ave Mall. read more

This is exactly what we were looking for: A modern breakfast joint, with a classic breakfast diner feel. The service was quick, and our server was warm and full of good suggestions. The food was phenomenal. I'll defined be back. read more

If you like places whole name combines an adjective of 14th century Middle English origin and a product of a domestic bird (and I DO!), then you just might like this place. Oh, you also might want to be a fan of all things average. A reviewer below hit this place on the spot with decreeing it the epitome of average. It has a very Colorado, sorta folksy interior with a usual selection of American breakfast favorites. I was staying at the nearby Sheraton in Denver for the DNC 2008, and this place a block away. I ended up eating here twice actually - more for convenience than sheer enjoyment. The food wasn't bad though. I had the french toast the first time. It's made well and certainly left feeling full. The scrambled eggs and bacon sides I also had were tasty, but nothing to write home about. On my second visit I had blueberry pancakes. I found these slightly bland/dry, but, well, good enough to finish. Maybe I was just really hungry. The interior is clean and to the point. The service was friendly enough and they didn't keep us waiting long at all. The prices were very reasonable. Let me point out now that their mens bathroom is quite spacious and may be the best public restroom I encountered in Denver during my week here. I'd eat here again, but I'm not going to go out of my way for it. read more

Recently came for breakfast after reading reviews on yelp while staying downtown. The experience was as expected from the reviews (classic breakfast joint) with good service, but the food was disappointing. I ended up having the french toast which was a bit undercooked and way too sweet. The coffee was above average, but frankly not enough to redeem the french toast. I think I will need to try something else if I ever come back. read more

We were really looking forward and to this place but the food was very plain. The ham was lunch meat. Eggs were underdone. The setting is very dated Service was pretty slow although friendly. We wouldn't go back. read more

A great place to have a hearty breakfast that doesn't break the wallet... just the fast ;) We had stayed the night up in Denver at the Sheraton Downtown and got up in the morning. The Delectable Egg was right down the street so we thought we would give it a try. I am glad we did. The coffee was good quality, and they bring you your own pot (I like that). The eggs, bacon and potatoes were cooked perfectly and were very tasty. And they had some really good biscuits and gravy :) The service was quick and efficient, friendly and they even brought over a giant cinnamon roll to say "Happy Birthday" to me (which they certainly didn't have to do, but it was very nice and tasted wonderful)! We will definitely visit again! read more

Tasty breakfast if you're staying in the area. I went to the Delectable Egg for breakfast every day that I was in Denver. The breakfast potatoes are great. I also tried the French toast, the Belgian waffle, and biscuits and gravy. The sausage gravy is really delicious with a lot of sage flavor. A cup is just enough for two people to share. They also serve a nice fruit cup. Produce is pretty nice in Denver. I also like the carafe of coffee they bring to the table. This location is very convenient if you're staying at the Sheraton downtown. Better than room service if you can handle going downstairs and walking across the street. Four stars. read more

Dear Breakfast, I love you. The staff is always super friendly here. Good coffee, big breakfast menu, even lunch menu with salads n such... I had a skillet and it was da bomb! Eggs, Patatoes, Cheese, Ham, and green peppers. Nom! Nom! read more

I love the name of this place. It conjures up all kinds of images for me of porcelain egg cups holding soft boiled eggs ready to be cracked open with silver spoons and dipped with buttery toast points. However, this is not that kind of place. It's more homey, less fancy - with no porcelain in sight. I enjoyed my breakfast of quiche lorraine crepes. Yes, that's right, I said quiche lorraine crepes. And yes, they were covered in hollandaise sauce! Yum! What an original idea! Why not combine two delicious breakfast entrees into one? They were served with potatoes that were bland though, and needed a lot more zip. The service was good and the prices were fair. All in all I found it to be a fine breakfast place before a day of busy meetings. My companion was disappointed with the size of her portion and the overall quality. Perhaps it has a ways to go before it can live up to its ambitious name. Keep trying, Delectable Egg, I know you can do it! read more

Normal breakfast/diner place - portions were generous, but quality was ok, at best. The breakfast tacos (carne asada, a generous 3 per order) come with home fries and salsa and will fill you up for half a day. Our server was very friendly and attentive - good place if you want traditional (or Tex-Mex) breakfast food. read more

Ate at The Delectable Egg after checking out of my hotel this morning! Came in at around 11 so not very busy at all which is a plus! Very nice setup at the table water is already here with glasses ready to drink so no waiting for drinks! I got the Denver Omelet which was absolutely delicious! Service was fast and great! Highly recommend! read more

SERVICE: Yikes, this is ridiculous. 1 cashier who also runs to the back to grab to-go orders while also turning around to be a hostess so we waited about 3-4 min not sure if we should seat ourselves or wait. Dessert before food? That's right - they brought the cinnamon roll first before we even got our food. After a few min, we found out that the cinnamon roll was delivered to the wrong table - it should have gone to the table next to us as they were waiting for their dessert. BUTTER on cinnamon roll? I can understand a little bit for flavoring purpose but this just overwhelmed the whole thing. I was so disappointed with the experience up to this point that I can't remember what entree I had and indicative of the impression that it left on me. read more

It's a JAG breakfast place that was close by our weekend choice of residence. Nothing special. Coffee is black, eggs are cooked, et cetera and so forth. There were a healthy mix of tourists (I assume, judging by the sports teams they sported on their choice of clothes) and families. Like every other city in America, breakfast/brunch on weekends is a thing. read more

I was in Denver on business recently and needed a good place for breakfast. I was staying in some waste product of a hotel that didn't have a full service restaurant, so I was shit outta luck there. A quick review of Yelp! got me to The Delectable Egg on Market Street. Overall, it was a great experience. TDE is a definite cut above a normal breakfast/lunch kinda joint. Two things really stand out: The menu and the service. The menu had your staples you'd want for a breakfast place, but it also had many things you won't find at the chain joints: crepes, good quality croissant sandwiches, and frittatas. I selected a frittata and it was very good. One other thing...it seems like a small matter, but they know how to do toast. Most places don't brown it enough: you get gloppy bread with vegetable oil painted on it. The toasted marble rye I had was perfect. The food was great quality. The service: fast, non intrusive and the check brought at the perfect time. I will return for sure! read more

Blah.... tasted kinda fake like I was dining at iHop... I am honestly not a Bloody Mary person typically but wanted to give it a try and I couldn't even drink it. It was so thick and did not even taste like there was any vodka at all, I felt like I was just drinking cold soup. My friend does love bloody Mary's but she completely agrees that they were not good. As far as the food goes it was just mediocre at best and as nice as our server was he completely messed up my friends order. I had an omelette which had mushrooms (I think there was one in there), bacon, peppers and cheese and was really mostly just eggs and cheese, barely any of the other items. The hash browns were again nothing special and my biscuit seriously tasted like baking soda. Outside of the Mary and the biscuit nothing else was terrible but it just really wasn't good either. Really wish I hadn't wasted $20 on that experience! read more

The interior decor seems a bit dated and bland (lots of brown). I went with a Rooster's Surprise and was surprised at how plain it was.My co-workers breakfast entrees weren't anything exciting. A cheaper, equally tasting breakfast could be had somewhere else. On the bright side, the staff is friendly and attentive. read more

Nice little diner type breakfast spot. We were a party of 6 and got seated right away. The food came out at the right on time & everyone's orders were correct. My only complaint is the breakfast potatoes were slightly undercooked. Great sausage links & pancakes here! Good place to come eat if you're a breakfast person for sure! read more

This rating would be worse if the food wasn't decent. We walked in the same time a few other parties did including a party of eight. Place was about two thirds full. It took a good seven to eight minutes to even be greeted by a server . It took another ten minutes just to receive our drinks. The above eight top was receiving their food the same time we ordered. Being in the restaurant business myself this was very frustating. I thought they were shorthanded but found out via our server this was not the case. Chalk this one up to bad luck. We got sat in a section with a lousy server read more

I chose this for my one "good" breakfast while in town for a conference instead of my usual banana and coffee on the go. I was so happy I chose it instead of the other options! I love that they bring an entire carafe of coffee and water to the table even for just one person - I hate waiting forever on coffee refills. I chose the Market Street omelette which is essentially a veggie omelette with seasoned potatoes. You have a selection of breads to choose from (I went with wheat toast). The omelette was wonderful and the potatoes were crisp. This place would have received 5 stars but the waiter was a bit standoffish (although I did receive everything I asked for) and they left all of the remaining table settings instead of clearing them which made for a cluttered dining experience. I will visit again next time I'm in Denver. read more

The Delictable Egg was a cute little breakfast spot in the heart of downtown Denver. Their menu has a large variety of items, which makes it difficult to want only one thing. This place is Kitschy in the best way possible. I had the California Benedict and it was the best I have ever had. The potatoes that came with it were awesome too! Seasoned to perfection. I also had hot chocolate that came in a sweeeeeeet glass and was delicious. The two other people I was with loved their meals too! Our waitress was really young and sweet. Our food came out in less than 10 minutes which was surprising! Nothing about my visit wasn't great or better! read more

Glade plug-ins. If you enjoy the aroma of Glade plug-ins while you dine, this is your spot. Smoked salmon Benedict: The potatoes tasted kind of funny, the eggs were practically raw, and the English muffins did not even pretend to be toasted. Quiche Lorraine crepes were all egg, little or no cheese and only bits of the other ingredients. The crepe also had a strange flavor. Service was mediocre at best. An all-around bad experience. read more

Not so delectable service. I came here on a sleepy Friday morning when the place wasn't busy at all and it still took more than 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge me and take my order. I ordered a coffee with my breakfast and the waiter brought over the carafe for me to pour my own coffee and didn't even have the courtesy to float the top rightly so coffee poured on my table when I was pouring my own cup. The omelettes are described as fluffy on the menu but mine was flat and lifeless. The hash browns were burnt and overall this was a very disappointing breakfast. They stacked the extra placements across from me and left me to eat on a cluttered messy table. read more

Awesome breakfast/brunch! Friendly staff. Highly recommend the Popeye or Marketplace omelets.

I want to start my review by saying that I am not a picky or snobby eater. That being said, I had a terrible breakfast at the Delectable Egg. Terrible service- our waiter stopped by the table only three times throughout the whole meal: once to greet us, once to take our order (a food runner brought the food), and finally to drop off the check. They never once stopped by to ask us how our food tasted. Had they done so, I would have easily been able to sum up the meal in one word. Terrible. I got the Egg's Benedict. Listed under the "Very Special Specials" section of the menu, I was excited to see how it would taste. Pieces of the cracked egg shell were splattered on my poached egg. The hollandaise sauce was poured on the plate beneath the English muffin. The muffin soaked it up like a sponge, making it taste like it had been sitting in water. My guess is that this was the chef's first attempt at a benedict in years. All in all, bad experience. We will not be returning. read more

First, there's the utilitarian dining area. It's one big room, very well lit. Too well lit in my opinion. They're possibly using nothing but CFL light bulbs. Minimal and awful decorations. Prepare for average food. It's nothing exciting, but it gets the job done when a halfway decent breakfast is needed with no nonsense presentation and pricing. The servers and staff were quick and efficient. They were not overly friendly, but that's fine by me. Aside from the name, there's not an exciting bone in this restaurant's body. Still, it'll do in a pinch. "Quick, I need a sit down breakfast. It's an emergency!" read more

Oh Delectable Egg, why did it take so long for us to meet? I've noticed you at times from afar, and I've brushed passed you without a word or barely even making eye contact. Today would be different. I decided to try out the "Egg" for a late breakfast. The menu is extensive, which is a good thing, but as soon as I saw the biscuits and gravy, my decision had been made. It's something I do, that when I go out for breakfast, if the place has B&G, I always order it to get a feel for what an establishment is all about. Let me say the biscuits and gravy here at the Egg are the best! The other thing I like here are that the prices are reasonable for most items and the staff here is very pleasant. Delectable Egg, I'm sorry we didnt meet sooner. I wish I could turn the clock back. But now that we have finally met, you can bet I'll be by more often. How about next Sunday? read more

The food was just ok. The crepe was decent, and the French toast was actually pretty good. The hash browns were god awful. They were not seasoned at all. I thought that maybe I got a bad batch that was old, soggy, and someone forgot to season, but I saw another comment where someone said their potatoes were awful too. I would try again with different menu options but I can see why I never hear anyone raving about this place as a great brunch spot. Good simple breakfast food in a clean, friendly environment. Nothing over the top as far as originality, but still pretty good. Location was off 16th Street Mall and we didn't wait at all for a table at 8am on a Saturday. The place kind of reminds me of a cleaner, tastier IHOP. Enjoy. read more
