This little spot has become a staple in my Sunday breakfast ritual, and I don't think I plan on changing that anytime soon. The Corner is one of my favorite breakfast and brunch spots I've been to for the last year now, and this is why. Atmosphere: This place is always Always ALWAYS busy and so worth the wait. They don't take reservations so make sure you have a video to watch in the car for the next 20 to 40 minutes while you wait (I usually just put my make up on in the car since I get to take my time). Once you're inside the place, the volume is always busy but at a level where you could still hear the person you are sitting with to actually have a conversation. The wait staff has always been super friendly and you could mistake pretty much anyone working there for the owner because of the level of care they put into their day and how they treat you. It's also not one of those visits where you see the staff one time and never again, you will begin to see the same faces when you go again. Gives it a homie feel, and trust me you will go again. Seating is comfortable and while crowded you never feel cramped. (I hate cramped) Food: my mission has been to try everything on the menu at least once before sticking to something to expand my flavor pallet. I'm an Eggs Benny kinda gal and any variation of eggs Benny on their menu has ALWAYS been delicious. My favorite for the moment is the pulled pork eggs Benny. They do change their menu items often so if you see a new item make sure to consider it so you don't miss out. Their truffled deviled eggs are my consistent staple. It's PRRFECT. I wish I could get 2 orders of it but that wouldn't leave room for the mains. One of their consistent staples is the breakfast sandwich that is served on the most delicious buttery and perfectly fluffy biscuit you could ask for. Oh and they also have a really amazing selection of drinks. So far I've gotten the matcha latte, the caramel latte and their energy shot which has carrot,ginger and honey. For desserts I always take home a chocolate chip cookie which is so cakey, not dry and with chocolate that melts so nicely. (It's a good size so one is enough) and their olive oil cake slices are heaven. Never dry, perfectly textured. Overall: if you plan on going on a weekend make sure you prepare to wait. Oh brunch! How I love thee I was not even hungry until I saw the menu and I found myself driving here lol I ordered the toast sampler! We LOVE the corner! (And so does everyone else, seeing how busy they are haha) This is our go to anytime we need a little pick me up from a rough week. It always turns our week around. There is a metered parking lot nearby which is very convenient and easy to park in. They have rotating specials in addition to their standard menu. The staff here is friendly and efficient. They don't have a crazy amount of seating compared to how many people who seem to want to eat here, but I never feel like I've had to wait that long. And when I do have to wait, it is always worth it. We do usually try to get here on the early side or the late side to put the odds in our favor though. You can also go to their coffee bar to grab some coffee and pastries to go if you don't want to sit down to eat. I think everything we have had here has been a hit and great quality. Really just comes down to whether you choose something you are in the mood for or if you misread yourself lol. A true 5 stars in my heart. read more

This place is a must try when you need a great brunch option in the area! Came here with a friend after a nice hike in Oakland, and the food was simply delicious and worth the wait! Don't be surprised if you are placed on the waiting list upon arrival as it gets busy real fast and there aren't that many tables. Luckily, they will text you once a table becomes available, so you are free to walk around near the area or wait outside. Our wait time was about 30 minutes and we came on a Saturday around 11:30. We ordered the pasty board to share, which came with 3 random fresh pastries that were delicious. We got the famous chocolate chip cookie, a biscuit, and a berry scone. All 3 were warm and tasty! My friend got the omelet and it was very filling and cooked nicely. I got the berry pancakes to see what all the hype was, and once I saw it, I could see why so many people love them - the pancakes were almost cloudlike and so soft and fluffy! LONG REVIEW! Very disappointed to have to give my recent experience at The Corner 3 stars. I came here a few years ago and had the smoothest and best experience. This time it was not smooth at all. They run by first-come first-serve so I went in to get my name on the waiting list. I was told it would be a 30-35 min wait which was no issue since it was a Sunday. Me and my boyfriend went to wait in the front of the restaurant after 20 minutes in case we were called. He did call us in 30 min time but I chose to wait for a table inside. He told me it would be another 10-15 min which I was fine with. After 10 min we asked the server how long and he said we were the second for a table indoors. Although he said that he took in 2 parties (one which we saw come after us). Then he asked again if we would like to be outside which I declined. Moments later he asked for our name and I saw on his notepad where he put down names that ours was crossed out. The system is very unorganized and I realize he probably gave up our table. This is unacceptable since we were waiting for over an hour and most of that being outside in freezing temperatures around a bunch of people who are also waiting. It also makes no sense to have a bunch of people congregating outside in a pandemic. Finally we were brought inside just to sit at the high chairs in front of the window. I honestly wanted to get a full table. Our waitress was very nice and understanding. She understood I was upset over the long wait and when I asked to be seated at another table when a party left she completely obliged. We were not able to be seated at a table we asked for because there was a bigger party waiting but it was okay because we sat at another right under the neon sign! She also gave us a cookie on the house for the issues (does not make up for the disorganization but it was a great cookie). I'm glad our time here finally got better. I got the french toast (a special for the day) with 2 farm eggs and chicken sausage. My boyfriend got a burger on the special menu (forgot the name sorry). We both loved our food! For drinks he got the Strawberry Rosemary and I got the Bounce Back. Both were fresh and delicious. I got 2 Bounce Back juices because it was so good. The staff was quick on refilling our waters, giving us more napkins, and cleaning up our table whenever needed. Also the bathroom was very clean. Overall I would say the dining experience was amazing but the organization is horrendous and I hope they consider implementing a reservation system. read more

I am in love with this place! Everything is perfect, from the atmosphere, to the service, and mostly importantly the food. It's tiny which sucks so I wouldn't recommend coming here on a weekend unless you show up at an odd time where there is no wait. I came on a rainy Friday morning and was sat right away. My boyfriend and I started off with a pumpkin pie latte and a Bells & Whistles juice (both amazing). We split the corner pastry board which I highly recommend because the pastries are super fresh and the rosemary jam they give with them is really special. For food, we shared the fresh berry pancakes which are super light and came with homemade syrup. Their chocolate chip cookies are also amazing were included in our pastry board. We recently ate brunch here for the first time and it was incredible. From the La Colombe coffee (draft latte!), the fresh pastries, the food omg! Our waiter was Nabai and he made our experience there even better, recommending things that were on point and his energy was unmatched. We came on a Saturday around 11:30am, and it was about a 30 minute wait for 4 people. The place is an average size, and there is also outdoor seating. The service is pretty fast and efficient. Started off with the Truffled Deviled Eggs and the Shoestring Fries. Both were SO GOOD. The eggs came with a micro green sprout salad. 4 eggs total. The fries were super crispy. Even the thymes and garlic were fried. These were my favorite. I got the Baked Eggs as my main course. It was very flavorful and filling. A little heavy on the black beans tho. This review reflects our second visit to The Corner cafe on Grove St, Montclair. It was an early Tuesday morning ride and we found parking along a nearby adjacent side street. We noted that there were no crowds outside of the front door since it was a weekday. Entering, we found only one couple ahead of us. Names are not taken, staff simply notes who is inside of the "vestibule" area and seats you accordingly. Within minutes, we were advised that two seats were free on the long table which sits in the middle of the restaurant. We eargerly accepted their offer. Our server approached us very soon. We both ordered coffee with milk and, for her, Oatmeal and a scone. For me, their pancakes which are stuffed with fresh fruit. Both of our breakfast dishes were delicious. The coffee is to rave for, robust, hot, freshly brewed! As breakfast people, we have not had pancakes such as these; very thick, somewhat smaller in diameter, yet still generous in size. The taste of these pancakes were equal to, or superior, to any other pancake house mix I have experienced! I purposely try breakfast dishes other than eggs in order to sample the other intems on the menu. Our server continued to be attentive despite how busy they were. Our coffee was refilled without asking as well as our water tumblers. Our check was brought to us quickly. The Corner is highly recommended for those that are looking to partake in a very good breakfast offering along with a lively dining crowd. LOVED IT. Came here for brunch with my friend and it looked pretty busy, so we weren't sure how long we would have to wait. Luckily they were able to seat us right away at a high top counter they have. Our server came over right away and took our coffee orders, which were brought out fairly quickly. Both of us then ordered pastries to start, followed by our meals. For pastries, we ordered the ham and cheese croissant as well as the buttermilk biscuit. The croissant was crispy on the outside and gooey melted cheese on the inside and was SO good. The buttermilk biscuit is served with butter and fruit preserves. For our main items, we got the smoked salmon on toast and the omelette with bacon, avocado, and goat cheese. The smoked salmon comes with poached eggs and creams fraiche, and I added avocado as well. The eggs were poached perfectly and the avocado was fresh - the dish was so good I cleared my whole plate. My friend had the omelette which is a pretty significant portion, and she said it was light and fluffy and didn't feel super heavy but was really filling. We also ordered coffees to go, which came quickly! The whole staff is wearing masks and they have you checkout by iPad which is nice because it's right then and there. We came here on a Tuesday for brunch and it seems they didn't have the full menu offered, not sure why. We were seated in less than 10 mins. To start we ordered the toast sampler that came with the avocado toast, prosciutto & ricotta toast and the chicken liver toast. All of which were good! The prosciutto was my favorite! We also asked as we were seated for orange juice since the place is BYOB (there's a wine and liquor store few doors down) however we did not get the orange juice until our main course was served which was a little bummer. We had to ask several times for the orange juice! Maybe they were just busy, which we understood. For our main course, I ordered the corner burger which was great! Can't say I wasn't satisfied! My friend however ordered the breakfast sandwich in which they came back and forth stating they didn't have the biscuit any more, then turns out they did, then says they had it but will take awhile since he's going to be making it. We were a little confused but nonetheless the sandwich came out and it was good. Absolutely LOVE this place! I've always meant to stop by sooner considering I live 1 town over and never got the chance to but I finally did! I was treated out to breakfast with my best friend along with my sister for our birthday and we were already waiting to be seated for a table around 1030am! Although when it came time to poking my poached egg, I was lowkey upset cause the egg was a little over done. I was expecting the runny-ness from the yolk to drip all over the toast and it just didn't do that. Wahhh. It's alright though. The dish was still delicious! The wait wasn't terrible, about 30 minutes when we got there at 11am. I can't believe how affordable brunch was. My friend and I each got a biscuit sandwich, shared shoestring fries and a cookie, and she got a coffee and I a juice. You can add cheese and/or avocado for an additional cost. We were interested in sharing the bread basket but were told that it was chef's choice...so did not want to risk getting more biscuits. I felt a little rushed with the amount of times someone came over to try to collect our (unfinished) plates. Next time definitely getting the pancakes which looked so fluffy. read more
