My boyfriend and I were in the mood for brunch one Sunday morning and this was the first place that popped up on yelp. We walked into a very lively cute corner cafe. There were autumn decorations everywhere and the place smelled great. The place smelt of coffee and baked goods which got us pretty excited. We were seated almost immediately. I ordered the berry pancakes with fresh whipped cream and my boyfriend ordered the brunch burger with rosemary shoestring fries. The berry pancakes were really good. They come with syrup already on it which was perfect for me. It wasn't drenched in syrup but it had enough to sweeten the pancakes. The pancakes were pretty thick but not too dense. I loved that they also had fresh blueberries in them and topped with even more fresh berries. The fresh whipped cream complimented the fresh berries really well. The burger was super flavorful and juicy. It wasn't too dry or bland and was cooked to a perfect medium rare. We both also really loved the shoestring fries. They were super crispy and the rosemary added a nice touch to it. The servers are also super nice and accommodating. They kept constantly checking to see if we needed anything else. However, it can come off as too overbearing but I do understand that they want to promote great customer service. Overall, I am excited to come back to try more things on their menu. read more

Who's in your corner?? I stumbled across this place while searching "best cookie in New Jersey," and that was like a year ago... When I finally came here due to some universal pull, I discovered not only the best cookie in New Jersey but probably the best brunch, too. The Corner offers a variety that would satisfy anyone: omelettes, sandwiches, burgers, pancakes, waffles, toasts, and of course, cookies. The pastries here don't look like ones that have been sitting for a week; I actually wanted to try them. Ordered four items for two both times we dined here because we just have to try it all. The pancakes and french toast are extremely unique. One is so fluffy you almost don't want to take it apart, and the orange zest in the french toast paired with syrup is simply amazing. The breakfast sandwich was huge, one of the cheapest items on the menu but definitely one of the most fulfilling. The monkey bread was okay, not too crazy because the inside was a bit plain/dry, but helps with the weight watching I guess. The cookie is definitely the best cookie in New Jersey. Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside. It's not like Levain in NY where the cookie turns into almost a scone, but similar in size and still keeps the "cookie" aspect. Even if you like thin and crispy cookies, you'll still enjoy and love the one here at The Corner. For now, if I ever struggle to pick a place to brunch on a Saturday morning, The Corner will be the place I fall back on. read more

Great service and great food! Went here with my cousin for brunch. We both had omelettes that came with a side salad and a cup of fruit. We also ordered a side of the chicken apple sausages which were the best part of brunch! I also ordered an almond milk latte which did not fail to please! It was also quite a generous size. I was looking for a brunch place with outdoor seating and heat lamps outside in winter during this never-ending pandemic; we went the first weekend of January at 50 degrees and were totally comfortable with coats on and had a lovely brunch. Egg dishes, croissants, lattes were delicious. Oatmeal was average. But I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu! So many healthy options too, a plus. This is such a wholesome brunch spot! It's tiny and on a literal corner, but this is truly one of the best brunch meals I have ever had. Wow! This place was amazing. We went on a Sunday at 2p and had a 20 min wait. We ordered a chai, an earl grey and decided to try a bounce back juice which I wasn't sure I'd like because I'm not a fan of beets.. the juice is a must have. We also tried a cream puff which was pure heaven. The cream was whipped and light and not eggy. We started with the toast platter, it comes with two pieces of each toast (chicken liver, avocado and prosciutto ricotta) the chicken liver which I thought would be gross was actually really good, the avocado toast, I thought would be my favorite was good but the best was the prosciutto ricotta, which was a sweet and salty mix. It was amazing. For entrees We got the crab Benedict and the brisket Benedict. The crab Benedict was not my favorite. It wasn't crab cake, just crab which I prefer but I found it to be too fishy which is an indicator that the crab isn't too fresh. The brisket Benedict though, OMG it was amazing. Their house bbq is to die for and I asked for more on the side. The Benedict is over cornbread which gave it a hint of sweetness and balance to the delicious and tender brisket. The portions are a good size and I left there so full and completely satisfied. The staff was soooo nice and they were really on it, what a great customer service experience. read more

Stopped in for lunch last week and the inside is very cute. Loved the use of seating in every nook and cranny. Service initially was very fast water took my order, it was my first time there so I didn't really know what I wanted. Then the food took longer than expected to come out. Thinking people are on lunch especially in scrubs should try and get food out a bit prompter so they can get back to work in a reasonable amount of time. The food was excellent. So be prepared to wait or to be seated at a communal table as there isn't a lot of space inside. There's some outdoor seating for when the weather permits as well. The atmosphere is trendy and modern but the menu has a nice mix of classics and more inventive dishes, all at a very reasonable price I should add. The stars of the Corner are the baked goods. My friend and I split a lemon glazed blueberry scone and OMG it was to die for. It was MASSIVE and came out warm. It was everything lol I have to take off a star because it was quite warm inside. One of my favorite breakfast and brunch spots in New Jersey. I absolutely love this tiny, but impossibly charming spot tucked away in Montclair, NJ, a place I rarely find myself in. The service here is absurdly friendly, with waiters/managers constantly checking up on you, and they are also beyond friendly while you are no- doubt irritably taking too long to decide on what to eat. I ordered the famous avocado toast and breakfast sandwich and both were fantastic, and a great value compared to similar spots. The coffee was also quite good, and they were very generous when refilling. A must-visit, even when its out of our way to come here. read more

A fun, instagramable place. What I mean is the inside decor is hip and very trendy. I really quite loved it, especially the neon sign. The drip coffee was pure joy and the food was also fantastic. I got an omelette with bacon/spinach/cheese. They used thick pieces of delicious cheddar. We also got a pasty board which was over the top cute. They come out fresh at 12 and 230, and theres only a limited amount, so try to plan your visit around that time. These cookies are very similar to Levain cookies in NYC! Its like the baby cousin of Levain- thick, gooey, warm deliciousness!! The service here is also an absolute win. They take care of you closely from the moment you walk in and until you leave. They'll always check up on you, making sure the food is just right and always refill your water before you get the chance to ask. On this particular day i came with a group of friends, and we werent even waiting for particularly long, but our waiter came and gave us a complimentary pastry tray! I went to The Corner with my sister because someone had recommended it. Our tradition is to go to Toast, but wow- this place is definitely comparable. The difference is The Corner's service felt a little more personalized and home-y. We sat outside, which was nice. Our server recommended some great stuff - even though I ended up going my own route. I ordered a juice - The Refresher. It was good. Had beets in it, which gave it its nice color and sweetness. My sister had an iced matcha latte. For our main meals, I had Baked Eggs, which was similar to Huevos Rancheros. My sister had the Brisket Benedict scenario. I forget the name, but it was GOOD. I also had to order the berry pancakes for the table. They looked so good, I couldn't help it! The flavors of this place were on point. I like that they had different things to choose from. The variety on the menu was just right - but they still have the basic farmers eggs - which is two eggs and a meat. There is definitely something for everyone and they serve La Colombe coffee. Not in the typical way, but they rushed us through the experience, pressuring us to hurry up the entire time. My friend and I went here on a Saturday morning around 9:30 for breakfast thinking we'd have at least an hour to catch up, but we were rushed through and hurried to drink our coffee in 45 mins. I promise it tastes just as good as it looks! Over the weekend, my boyfriend brought me here for breakfast and I was delighted. I am not a huge breakfast person, but I surly enjoyed. We ordered avocado toast to share, as well as some natural drinks. I ended up going for the "Bells & Whistles" which was super refreshing. For breakfast I decided to go with the smoked salmon on toast which was divine! I did not even mind that the toast was a bit too toasty for my liking. My boyfriend went with the omelette and he did not leave any traces on his plate! The place overall has a cool atmosphere; very vibrant and chill. They also have outdoor sitting during the summer if you prefer that! If it wasn't for one of the servers bringing us a cookie after we said no to dessert, this place would've definitely gotten 5 stars! They are tossed in olive oil and rosemary if I remember correctly. It's a different kind of flavor. We ordered a pumpkin spice coffee and a hot chocolate from the bar while waiting for our table. I really loved the hot chocolate but felt like the coffee flavor outweighed the pumpkin flavor in the latte. I wouldn't get that drink again. My advice is to bring some champagne and order juice! The food was delicious, they make fresh sodas, juices, coffee and iced coffee made to order. I believe all the dishes are made to order, so the food is coming to you hot and fresh. The food came in a timely manner and the service was superb. Our waiter was very attentive so sorry I didn't catch his name to give him a shout out but you can tell all the servers work very well together. Teamwork makes the dreams work!! Lol They have outdoor and indoor dining as well as ordering to go and delivery options. Nice ambiance and a nice chill spot to hang with friends for breakfast and lunch. Also, was so full we had to get the desserts to go. Got a chocolate croissant and a chocolate chip cookie . After wanting to visit The Corner for some time and never getting to it, I decided to take myself on a date there! Lol! I was working in the area so ... why not ?! Let me just say it was a great decision!! The service was above and beyond! From the host to my server.. they were amazing! Luckily for me, I got out of work at 2.. so I made it just in time for their "2:30 cookie".. it was freshly baked!! Warm and delicious! Crispy on the outside and chewy inside! I also ordered a biscuit which was good.. very flaky and crispy.. the texture outside reminded me a little bit of a croissant. For the main event, I had their pancakes! Luckily for me, (once again) they have the option of getting a half order (2 instead of 4) .. initially I didn't know that so it made me pretty excited that I didn't have to roll out of the restaurant .. because knowing me I would've eaten all 4 if they were in my face! Anyway... the pancakes were really good! Super fluffy! Pillowy soft! And they came in a pool of delicious syrup! They came topped with fruit, and the peaches were oooh sooo good!! This is probably one of the most deserving 5 starts I've ever given .. and the reason I say that is because I usually focus mostly on the taste of the food (service as well, but I'm never too harsh.. We waited on a Sunday morning for about 15-20 minutes for a seat, which wasn't bad. There is hardly any room to stand without being in someone's way. The hostess was kind and recommended we grab a coffee at the counter while we waited, which we did. I tried the draft latte and I fell in love! If you love cold coffee and lattes, do yourself a favor and try this! Game changer. My boyfriend got a fresh juice, which he liked, and I also ordered a matcha tea, which I loved. It was so pleasantly presented and the way they made it was on point. As far as our food, I was so disappointed. I got the smoked brisket, and my boyfriend got the pulled pork Benedict. Although everything looked amazing and everything tasted good when you ate it individually, the combination of the foods just didn't do it for either one of us. The idea of each plate was awesome, but it needed to be more balanced out. They added a salsa to my brisket and although it may have tasted well with the brisket, it did not go good with my cornbread and eggs. The pulled pork had way too much barbecue in it, which tasted weird with the spinach and eggs. Im hoping this was a fluke. We took a chance coming to this spot based on the rave reviews and were sorely disappointed. We came on a late Friday morning and it was packed. You did see the host greeting folks that he knew so having repeat customers is always a plus although initially when we saw him we didn't know he was the host since he wasn't wearing the same shirt as everyone else (he just wore a regular t-shirt and shorts) so it was hard to distinguish him from a customer vs someone who worked there. Once we were seated we scanned our menus and saw a very limited menu which did not have any appealing options. My wife settled on some bbq chicken sandwich with cole slaw and chips thrown together on a roll and I had their roadhouse burger with fries. The fries were actually shoe string fries however what should normally be good fries were soaked in oil given how slim they were. The burger... what the heck was in it? You would think you couldn't mess it up with simple ingredient like lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, cheddar and a burger but somehow it was messed up. I really don't know what else was in here b/c there was something sour in the taste of my burger. Either they were trying to do something artisanal or there was a quality issue here. While it was nice to see a Kougin-Amann on the menu, I decided not to try since I've been spoiled by Dominque Ansel Bakery in NYC which is my standard for this. Well at least we tried a new spot. As the name suggests, it's literally on the corner, however don't let this spot-on-the-corner fool you. This may be the best breakfast in Montclair! FOOD: I've gone twice and got their pulled pork benedict which is very flavorful and juicy over an English muffin. I highly recommend it, it is not on their menu, rather on their specials. The avocado toast is also delicious, the guac is fresh and homemade, the poached eggs are made just right and have a little zing to them, it may be the hollandaise sauce or seasoning but whatever it is, it's sensational. They brew a cold latte right there which is also good, I went with the half black half milk one seen in my picture and only added 2 sugars. The breakfast burrito was alright, better than average but nothing to rave about. However we asked for hot sauce and that made all the difference. ATMOSPHERE: Although small it never really feels too packed, probably because the seating is limited and not crammed together. There's a cute picnic table set up outside however both times I've gone it's been outrageously hot so I can't say I have. The music is not too loud and they actually play alot of instrumentals of popular 80-90's music which makes for a great and nostalgic vibe. Definitely family friendly, there is something on the menu for everyone. This is also a great date spot, with something fresh and new to try on the specials menu daily.
