Finally made my way over to The Corner after numerous occasions of wanting to go. This is a small hipster spot with pleasing vintage aesthetics. BYOB is always a straight 5 stars in my book, but the waiting game killed the fifth star on this. I understand that we had a bigger group and accommodations had to take sometime for people to finish, but 1 hour of waiting in the cold was not okay. I did get order a latte and crossaint while we waited. Though I thought when I mentioned latte, it was going to be a hot latte not iced... maybe specifications need to be written or asked when ordering? At the time I didn't care that it was iced because I need caffeine ASAP. The latte was good, just sizing was weird for a regular. We're seated after an hour of waiting. Mind you, people are waiting outside where there are 2 benches and nothing really to shelter you from the cold. The staff were very attentive with our drinks and food. The menu had different things for everyone appetites such as savory, and sweet. My friend and I got the fresh pressed juices, and they were AMAZING!! They were put into cute mason jars as seen in the pictures. Food items that you must try are: truffles deviled eggs, shoestring fries, freshly baked cookies (only served at 2:30PM), CORNER hummus and Baked Eggs. It sucked that there were no avos available due to US trading with Mexico. Overall, would I go here again: yeah sure, but it was not a bang for your buck with the plates. One of my favorite brunch spots in the north jersey area! Be warned- on a Saturday or Sunday morning, this place gets PACKED and the wait can be up to 40+ minutes. In my opinion, the wait is well worth it! I usually start with one of the juices, which are always refreshing, light, and sweet. The juice costs around 6-7$, which does seem a bit pricy, but I think the freshness of the ingredients is potentially worth the cost. I've had the avocado toast as well as the berry pancakes, which were the fluffiest pancakes I've had ! They are light, airy, fruity, and delicious. They come topped with strawberries and blueberries and whipped cream, and either the syrup or the pancake batter has apricots in it, which I found to be creative. The avocado toast is also really good, it's a big piece of crispy toast piled high with mashed avocado and an egg cooked to your preference. It's flavorful, citrusy, and fresh, while still being filling. My friend got the baked eggs last time and said they were delicious as well! The prices are standard brunch item prices, not being much more than other places in the area. But like I said, the wait can be really long so try to get there early! read more

I am BLOWN AWAY. Coming from NYC, a city overflowing with amazing restaurants, I was surprised to find this place, with such amazing food! I had the baked eggs, which reminded me a lot of shakshouka. It was a Mexican take on it and it was mouth-watering! It has become increasingly difficult to find restaurants who can cook eggs properly. Lately, it seems like an egg at any restaurant has either a runny yolk with slimey white, or properly cooked white with a hard overcooked yolk. Does no one know how to cook the white all the way through while keeping the yolk runny? Well, The Corner sure does! It's honestly a shame my dish wasn't bigger! We're so spoiled in this country.... haha. Had some pancakes for dessert and loved how big and fluffy they are! Who doesn't love that?? It's also BYOB which is great, mimosas and the pancakes pair well together. It is small and gets crowded really fast and doesn't accommodate big crowds. Come early, this place gets packed with huge wait outside, and for a good reason. This place is as good as it gets for breakfast or brunch. They have a few tables outside if the weather allows it, which is where I normally prefer to be. As far as the service, its always on point, the staff here is quick and friendly. Coffee is always fresh and taste amazing, all the latte and cappuccinos are perfect to get caffeinated and get on with your day. Food is also always fresh, as if it just came from the farm. I had the berry pancakes that came with a fresh vanilla cream and avocado toast with poached eggs. The onion dip was also really good along with the cafe latte. #1 BRUNCH SPOT IN MONTCLAIR. There is a reason you'll see people waiting outside this establishment for a seat. On one of our visits I had the daily quiche and my husband had the smoked brisket hash. The crust on the quiche was divine and I enjoyed the unique flavour of the butternut quash. My husband devoured his smoked brisket hash before I had a chance to try but he said it was fantastic. This is a trendy brunch spot, without being flashy. Really great food, excellent service. I came here for breakfast/brunch. The homemade juices are delicious as are the pastries like the homemade monkey bread. I had the special which was pulled pork Benedict, this was delicious, eggs were nice and runny all blended so well. This place is always busy but definitely well worth the wait if you have the time. The food is absolutely phenomenal and doesn't break the bank. The coffee there is very good. Met a friend of mine here for brunch and was really happy with the service, cleanliness, and food. All of the staff was so kind and helpful! Tables were distanced well and clean. My friend and I both had the breakfast sandwich and really enjoyed it. I would have never thought to put pickled onions on this sandwich and somehow it all just came together so well. Very cute place with nice light decor. Seems like the place always has a big wait line. The owner (I think he was the owner) was a very good host. Asked us if we wanted a corner table, seat at the bar or share the table with people. We chose a corner table. The bar seemed like a nice place to get a cup of coffee while we waited. They have amazing drip coffee and an incredible selection of healthy juices. The avocado toast is a must! The bread is sliced thick with a great mash up of avocado with a hint of lime and a sprinkle of crushed pepper. The monkey bread was very tasty- not sure what sauce is on it but it was delicious. The baked eggs were very good also. Asked for some hot sauce and burst of flavor with the eggs, cheese and beans - the combination is delicious! The poached eggs with toast came with a side salad, toast and fruit cup. The service here is so great. The pancakes were unbelievable. I enjoyed every minute. My guy enjoyed the burger and I tried VERY hard not to grab a bite. The owner and the waitress were both very attentive. July 2015 was my first review of "The Corner". This little restaurant continues to WOW me. Most restaurants start out good and then unfortunately go downhill. The Corner still remains excellent!!! Came in late afternoon for lunch. The place was crowded. Anyway, I was seated right away, served water and given a menu. However, this was in a very friendly and non-rushed manner. For starters, I ordered the Lemon Pressed Soda. It was still super delicious with fresh lemon and mint leaves. I had a craving for a great burger. Ordered the Corner Burger (medium)with Shoestring Fries. It did not disappoint. The burger has high-quality meat and beautifully cooked. The cheddar cheese on the burger was very fresh and not overpowering. All in all, the burger was incredible! The rosemary shoestring fries were perfectly crisp and tasty! Not an ounce of grease were on the fries. At the next table, I saw two girls sharing what looked like an incredible meringue pie. They said it was delicious. Of course, I couldn't leave without ordering a slice to go. Totally enjoyed the key lime meringue pie as a late night snack :). Check out my picture! Overall some of the best breakfast you can get in this area hands down. Their truffled devil eggs were phenomenal, as well as their salmon toast (my personal favorite). The poached eggs were perfect and the combo with the capers simply 5 stars. We also got their breakfast sandwich on a crossiant instead of the biscuit it was supposed to be on and let me tell you it brought that extra sweet flavor to the already delicious sandwich. Only complaint is that we ate it like an omlete instead of a sandwich because it fell apart. I was very excited to try The Corner as per all the excellent reviews from my fellow Yelpers, but to be honest, I wasn't all that impressed. Maybe it's like when you set your expectations too high and you see a raved about movie and it just does not live up to the hype in your head. I definitely plan to give The Corner a second chance and perhaps my review will change. Three of us arrived around 10:15 on a Sunday morning and to my surprise a table was available inside for us to sit at. The inside of the restaurant is very nice. Large open windows really make the small space feel larger. There are bar stools along the window sill to eat at, a large communal table in the center, and tables inside and outside. I began my meal with an iced coffee and I was certainly impressed by their coffee ice cubes. Nice touch! Who likes watered down iced coffee anyway?! For my meal I had the Avocado Toast with 2 poached eggs on top. My husband was looking forward to their ham and cheese croissant but they were not able to substitute a different cheese for him. That bummed him out so he opted for the parfait and a biscuit. My meal was underwhelming, the toast was small, but at least there was a nice heaping of avocado on it. It didn't really fill me up. My husband said the parfait was pretty good and he loved the biscuit with the strawberry jam. My friend ordered a meal that came with peaches and there might have been 2 slices of peaches. For the price, I was really hoping for a better sized portion. I'll definitely go back to The Corner to give it another chance. Perhaps I'll give lunch a shot and see how it goes. Easily one of the best places in town! Food is always amazing and staff is super friendly. Everything is fresh, highly recommend cheddar and chive biscuits, deviled eggs, omelets, and sausage links. You really can't go wrong with anything from the bakery section though. Plenty of metered parking along the block and by the baseball field, but this a residential area so parking isn't really hard to find. Enjoy!! read more

The Corner adds to the array of breakfast options in Montclair, leaving me to wonder how each of these places survives. Red Eye Cafe. Le Saluben. Bonjour Cafe. Anderson's. Toast. Raymond's. The list goes on and on. But this place is obviously doing well considering how long they have NOT been opened. I remember just about a year ago this was supposed to be a wing and rib joint. That either never happened or else opened and closed very shortly thereafter. Go with the fresh squeezed OJ and the coffee. Yum to both. We split the quiche and the strawberry and apricot pancakes. The quiche didn't blow my socks off, but the pancakes were delicious. Much thicker than most other places. (Diane C. made this place the obvious choice thanks to her photo of the pancakes). Very reasonable prices. Friendly service. Never felt rushed despite the wait for a table. Outdoor seating, and BYOB I suppose ... if you feel like bringing some champagne to mix with that OJ for morning mimosas. They will put three parties of 2 of at the bench table in the middle of the restaurant so I would keep your breakfast talk PG, unless you don't mind your neighbors all up in your business. read more
