Hadn't been here before but heard a few good things. We all did the 1/2 slab of ribs and chicken tenders. There are 5 sauces for the ribs ranging from mid to really hot. We all chose the medium. The ribs were actually prepared well - fall off the bone but not overdone. They had a good flavor and the sauce was actually really good. I'd definitely order the ribs again. The chicken tenders were decent - nothing spectacular but good. I also tried the coleslaw - I'm a slaw snob and was pleased with the slaw - it was a vinegar/mayo combination and was actually good. The place is a order up front and then they bring the food to you. The staff were all pleasant and friendly. If I'm in the area and looking for ribs I'll definitely stop in again! read more

This place is great and thoroughly enjoy eating here. I do have a slight issue with their special today of rib sandwich that is fall off the bone tender. I really didn't expect a pull pork sandwich instead. It really tasted like a really good pulled pork sandwich not a rib sandwich. The kale salad... wait for it... amazing! That little hint of mint and parsley just packed in so much flavor. The folks who work there are amazing and take very good care of everyone. I cannot wait to come back. On this visit we had two Hog Heavens, one Shack Rocks, and one Sangria Swirl. Total meal five stars! Cashier 2c is a people person who makes your visit special. Wish their drink machine had been working I prefer the drink mixed and not on the rocks. Drinks were not as potent and the food not piled high as the last visit. Guess costs are being watched. We go to cookshack frequently! Nelly is one of the employees and she is the best! Super sweet to us every time. There's a few managers like William who really do their job incredibly well and our food is always hot. The margaritas are amazing, I always get the frozen. Tacos are incredible, leave everything on it, all of it works so well together. Tips go towards everyone and they rely heavily on tips there even though it's not wait staffed or table service. So keep that in mind when going if you care for that! The atmosphere itself is nice. They have tvs and nice speakers. The tables are heavy wood and comfy booths. They have a large table that seats almost 20 people in the middle. One of the best places in the forum for food at this point in time. read more

Service: fantastic. The cashier recommended things as it was our first time and was happy to do so. Food: think Raisin Canes chicken but with a consistent fry and proper flavor. Absolutely the best chicken sandwiches on this side. I've been here over 10 times, tried all the heat levels (yes, even AMF), and not once was I dissatisfied. The chicken is served in a nashville hot chicken style, perfectly crisp and juicy, with a medium softness to the bun, and topped with coleslaw that just works and isn't runny. For those who want a general kick, but not too much, go for the Medium heat, but if you want a good ratio of perfect spiciness to flavour, get the Texas Hot level. It sits around the heat of a habanero with a much better flavour profile. The fries are always crispy exterior, soft interior and served with a good helping of ground pepper and salt. Just right. Though I would recommend trying the dragon fries with one of the heat seasonings. If you're feeling for the mac and cheese, this place does it right in that regard as well. Cheesy with actual flavour and not just the taste of... milk. For the AMF (Adios Mother F***er), you'll need to sign a waiver, as it contains Trinidad Scorpion, Ghost, and Carolina Reaper peppers completely covering the chicken. Either prep for it, or be prepared for stomach pains that put you on the floor. Was it good? Hell yeah. Did it actually have flavour? Absolutely. But you regret it the next day, haha .. worth it. read more

In town for work for the night, and after driving all day just wanted something quick and easy to order at the hotel. Maybe it's because it was through Doordash, but the food was awful. new spot in the forum... first visit here... overall mixed bag as to our dinner. cook shack offers ribs and chicken tenders that you can order from mild to red hot spice level and dipping sauces for the tenders. they also have sandwiches, salads a few other plates utilizing both meats. hubbie & i both opted for the 1/4 rack of ribs, 2 chicken tenders and a side - kale salad $17.50 per plate, drinks were $2.85. the place was very busy, and when we had our drinks, there were no tables available. but there was a long communal table that had some open spots. we sat there then moved to a table that became open a little bit later. food came out in a reasonable time. lets start with the good points - the ribs, really the highlight of the meal. nice portion of meaty, tender, flavorful ribs. the heat level you choose determines the dry rub used on the them. the bbq sauce on them was good, not slathered on. the chicken tenders were large and had been breaded and fried. they were very tender tenders BUT, the amount of grease that came out when i cut into one was pretty off putting. i know breaded and fried is gonna be a little greasy, but i put the tender between 2 paper towels and pressed and OMGoodness! HUGE amount of oil came out and there was even some that leaked from under the towel and onto the table. i SHOULD have taken it back and asked if it was supposed to be THIS greasy - but hubbie was hungry and was ready to EAT! i think the oil probably wasnt hot enough - maybe too many at a time since they were busy. they honestly reminded me & hubbie of the chicken at long john silvers - not necessarily a bad thing. i tried the sweet heat sauce, kinda like a sweet & sour with a kick - i liked it. hubbies bbq sauce was thick and gloppy, taste was ok. the kale salad wasnt what i expected. it was just chopped kale with a vinaigrette. the salad was too heavily dressed for my taste (personal preference) and all i could taste was the vinegar. i'd come back for the ribs - not sure if i'll be ready to give tenders another try anytime soon. and id choose a different side. service was fast & servers were friendly & efficient. read more

May Update: My order was complete this time and I'm happy with it! So good This place is really good. I enjoy their food a lot, however they need to improve on service. The first time I went with my family, there was a mistake on my sister's order and when she let them know, the boy that served her was obviously irritated when he turned around to go have it fixed and didn't say a word. We brushed it off. They tend to forget sauces as well. I just ordered chicken and waffles today and had it delivered, but they did not provide the side, sauces I asked for as well as the syrup for the actual waffles. Again, not a TERRIBLY big deal, but it is irritating that this issue is so common. I give this place three stars, not for the food (which would've gotten four stars from me) but for the service. It was delicious! Chicken Tendies for the win!!! Good size, not a heavy batter, so you actually get chicken in it. I ordered the 5 piece with a side of Mac n cheese, you have the option of choosing dipping sauce, and level of spiciness in a dry rub. I went with the medium, some of the pieces were goodness, others not so bad, but just keep in mind, with dry rubs they can create big amounts, and be a bit spicier than expected, so good nonetheless. The Mac n cheese was great. Fast friendly services as well. And it's not far, definitely better than other chicken tender places for sure. This place just opened, so we thought we would go check it out. We had no idea what to expect. It is a counter-service restaurant with lots of outdoor seating. They have chicken and ribs and plenty of sides. You get to choose your level of heat for either which, interestingly, is a dry rub, not a sauce. You can even apply it to the fries. The hottest level is called AMF. My wife loves spicy things, so she ordered the Chicken and Waffles and asked for the AMF level. The cashier looked surprised and said, "Are you sure?" That took us aback. Apparently, the AMF level is no joke. My wife insisted and they literally made her sign a waiver (starting with "I, being of sound mind...") before they let her order it. Her biggest worry was that it would taste bad. As I said, she loves spicy and often gets the "spicy challenge" whatever at restaurants. But she feels that often, places sacrifice taste to get a higher heat. They care about the gimmick, but not the food. The hottest things she has eaten usually taste nasty. That was not the case this time! She thought the chicken was very good. Unfortunately, they were not joking about the heat and she was only able to eat about three bites before succumbing to the inferno. Be warned. But she also loved the waffles and they were not spicy at all. The rest of our party got Chicken Tacos, Shack Bites, and the daily special, Hog Heaven. Overall pretty good. I got the crispy chicken sandwich (medium spice level) with dragon fries (spicy fries) and a side of ranch. It all came out quick, hot, and fresh. The spice level of everything was perfect for me. The chicken was a really good size for the bun and the pickles and slaw added a lot to the profile. The fries were really good initially but as with all fried food got worse as time went on. Both the fries and sandwich were kind of on the greasy side of things. The ranch was good but nothing special, although it was essential for me. I thought the chicken could use a little salt but there was none available. The Mac was real hot with gooey cheesiness and a nice little smoky touch, definitely a good pick as a side or worth $3 on its own. There was a good country vibe and the the service was excellent.
