The Smokey MO's on Bulverde Rd is truly a step above. We recently moved in this area and have stopped by a few times since they have the convenience of a drive thru. We stopped by to grab meat for dinner and our chicken wasn't fully cooked. My husband called the manager and he said to come in and they will make it right. We couldn't go back till the next day and when we got there the other manager already knew about what happened and replaced our entire order!! My husband wanted to but some pecan pie also, and she threw it in for free for the trouble. Amazing service! Very clean and spacious lobby also if you want to dine in. read more

We had a BBQ emergency - SIL burned the turkey and we were hungry for soked turkey! SMokey Mo's to save the day! 4 of the 5 of us ordered turkey and it was moist and delicious. Our 2 year old got a "little mo" turkey and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was super creamy and she loved both items. I was impressed with the amount of meat on a kid's meal. For sides we had everything from creamed corn, to potato salad, to cold slaw to green beans to baked potatoes - everything was solid. I also had some burnt ends as part of a 2 meat plate - not my favorite but tasty. They offer two levels of BBQ sauce - both are well balanced. We choose to eat in - always clean and tidy. You order at the counter and they call your name. Nice fixings bar. Staff is super friendly. They have a drive thru and a huge parking lot. I've been to this location before and it has always been good but this time I don't know what they did to the brisket . It looked and tasted like something you would get from a fast food place. I actually ordered through Grubhub I was too exhausted to drive anywhere. This is my first time ordering from this restaurant. I'm sorry I don't have any photos I got right down to business when it arrived. My order didn't take long at all so I'm super impressed by that. So now the food I ordered. I got the Mac and cheese which is very delicious it's creamy just as I like it. I got green beans they were tasty. An order of turkey and burnt pork pieces I forgot what they are called on the menu. Visited during lunch bc I remember it being pretty good. The staff was friendly but the food was borderline inedible. The brisket was flavorless. The bark was rock hard, the meat was chewy, no rendered fat, and gray. The cheesy potato side was the quality of a microwaveable potatoes drenched in butter with prepackaged cheddar cheese on it. I initially thought I would be pretty fast with the drive-through however they made me wait when there was no one in front of me for about 10 to 15 minutes. Update: I stopped by today to pick up a brisket sandwich which the menu on the board says is 8.09 for the regular sandwich. The cashier told me my total was 9.30. I pointed out the price listed on the menu board. He didn't know why it was more. He tried to figure out why it rang up 50 cents more. Later he told me that it says on the board that Brisket is 50 cents more. I asked him where does it say that, because the board price for a regular sandwich states any meat is 8.09. I finally saw where he pointed it out, which was further down on the board. That sign needs to be corrected. If the sandwich is priced at 8.09 for a regular size sandwich, then why the heck are they charging more for a brisket sandwich. That is VERY misleading. read more

On Sunday my Church family invited me to dinner after seriand chose Smokey Mo's as our dining option. Since I don't consume red meat beef or pork, I chose the smoked chicken along with an order of cream corn and macaroni and cheese. The table dined on brisket and various sides and the line at the register moved expeditiously... When my food arrived I had an order of potato salad instead of macaroni. The mistake was corrected and while I detest potato salad, I sampled a few bites for your pleasure and can say I'd actually recommend the option. The chicken was surprisingly a large piece and a good value if mine had not had blood seeping from the back.. some pieces were rather chewy which makes me think the smoking process used to cook this portion was cut short. I returned the option for a new order and was satisfied with my order. The cream corn was delicious and the macaroni was almost as good as Daddy's... While it can't touch the Big Bib or The Smoke Shack, Smokey Mo's is a cute ... quick convenient stop on the way home ... but I think I'll continue driving when I get the urge and grab something a little more well done and not so pink inside ... Tonight tho-oh my!! We were hosting 10 people at our house (some from out of town) and we did the family pack for 8-10.
