I have been wanting to try Hatch for a long time and it did not disappoint! It is a very popular spot. When I got there, I saw that there were a lot of people and I was worried that we would be waiting for a long time. Nope! We were seated and served right away. The removal of one star would have to be for the main dishes. My French toast was not very hot at all, the flavor would good but could've been amazing if it was hot fresh off the pan. It seemed like it was brought out about 5 minutes after it was done. Also, my husband got the breakfast croissant sandwich with turkey, egg, and cheese and the egg was very unevenly distributed. The sandwich was cut in half and almost all the egg was on one half. His food also wasn't very hot, which was strange because there was only one other couple in there with us so it wasn't super busy at that moment. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this experience absolutely warrants one. Due to a recent car accident, I hadn't been out of the house in weeks. A couple of friends wanted to take me out to breakfast, and we chose The Hatch. One friend had never been there, and I hadn't been back since the expansion. Unfortunately, this visit was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Our waiter, Carlos, set the tone immediately -- and not in a good way. It took an unreasonably long time for him to even acknowledge our table and take drink orders. My friends ordered coffee but I ordered a Coke. He brought me coffee instead, apparently assuming that because my friends ordered coffee, I must have wanted it too. The coffee was barely warm. When my friends mentioned this, instead of fixing the issue, Carlos became argumentative, insisting the coffee was cold because of the creamer they used. He actually picked up the creamer and shook it at my friend while explaining, which was rude, condescending, and completely inappropriate. I then had to ask four more times for the Coke I originally ordered before it was finally brought to the table. When the bill arrived, I was charged for both the coffee and the Coke. I calmly explained that I did not order the coffee and did not drink it. Carlos snapped back, "Well if you didn't order it, what is that right there?" while pointing to the untouched coffee cup. He seemed visibly irritated that I expected my bill to be corrected. To top it all off, we were rushed out almost immediately after finishing our food. Carlos took our payments and told us we needed to leave because he needed the table for other guests. While I understand the restaurant is busy and others may have been waiting, being told outright to leave was shocking and incredibly unprofessional! The food itself was good -- which makes the service even more disappointing. Spending nearly $80 on breakfast should not come with hostility, incorrect charges, and being treated like an inconvenience. Management should seriously evaluate how their servers interact with patrons and provide additional training.
