I had a doctor's appointment and decided to pick up some lunch to go. I saw the restaurant listed on Google and saw that they have lamb over rice which I'm a big fan of. Here it's called a platter and I got it all the way with chicken, lamb, falafel and fries. I found the restaurant and as others have said, it's small, only a couple tables but it was clean and the posted health score was an A. I was the only costumer and I had to wait a bit because I was waiting for my son to tell me what he wanted and because the fellow working got a phone order. Once I ordered, he went right to work cooking our food and it was ready in no time. My car smelled great on the way home and my food looked really good but I noticed the sauce (white only) was mostly on the pita. I had high expectations. I was disappointed. So glad we decided to try this place, it has become a favorite now. I love the gyro, masala fries, and the rice bowl. Full of flavor and never dry meat. My husband gets the Philly cheesesteak and is in love with this dish. The staff and owner is so kind to us. When I needed to pick up food but had my newborn in the backseat he offered to bring the food out to me. This was beyond kind and thoughtful. So we were in the area and looking for someplace new and saw this place. We almost didn't go in because so many gyro places just aren't good. We rolled the dice and came up big winners. The place is small - two tables and a few bar stools - just like you see in NYC restaurants. We decided to try the chicken gyro and the lamb gyro. They came with seasoned fries and three sauces. Both gyros were fantastic! Haven't had a gyro with that much flavor since we returned from the Mediterranean this summer. The chicken had a slight spiciness - fantastic but not overwhelming. The lamb had a really good flavor. Both were great! The seasoned fries had a very slight seasoning and were perfectly crispy on the outside. We used the sauces as dipping sauces though you could use them on your gyro as well. We will absolutely be coming back as the food was great and the staff was very friendly as well. Fantastic Gyro shop in Stone Oak! The chef explained some of menu options available and recommended a few stand outs which were great. We both had the lamb gyros which were savory with just the right amount of veggies and tahini sauce. And I have had many. This one is moist, not dry hockey pucks, filled with fresh herbs, and fried to perfection. I could make a meal out of just these. The masala fries are highly addictive! I decided to go in for a second time just to see if anything had improved since the last time I went there. And the answer was now the service is incredibly slow because it was only one person working in the grill. The place is filthy. The floor is nauseating. If you order a gyro or hamburger, a prepackaged pre-processed shaped meat, comes out of a box or a bag and is placed on the grill. Literally, you could see the same thing at home after buying frozen stuff at Costco. I just don't understand how or why people think this place is good. I'm sorry if you're a small business and you're working hard but you need to use fresh ingredients and clean that place up. I don't know why the place is always crowded and I do not know why people aren't going to curry boys instead. I know this is harsh, but I'm just being completely honest. If there was a higher rating than 5 stars, I would use it for Gyro King. We were greeted like a long lost cousin and served by Moses, the owner who moved to San Antonio two years ago from NY - and LOVES the people and area! Moses effusively described the menu items and pointed out that-his artistic 9 year old daughter had done the blackboard and adorned it with hearts. We were there before 11, and he opened the door for us. His service to-us was top notch! My husband and I shared a delicious meal, complete with extra plate and drink and "a few extra crispy seasoned French Fries", compliments of the owner. Haven't been here in a while, so I decided to pay them another visit. The food is still made to order and filled with flavor. This time, I tried the Philly cheese steak but with chicken. I don't know what I was thinking. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach. This thing was huge and also had a nice house made hot sauce (kind of like Buffalo sauce) that complimented the sandwich well. I only got about 3/4 way through, and I had to tap out. The service is friendly, and you feel like you are at someone's kitchen table. There is not a large eating area, which is a bummer, but it makes it more of a family style environment.
